We got takeout from here recently. We got the chicken 65, chicken tandoori tikka, chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, and dal makhani. I enjoyed the chicken 65 more than the chicken tandoori. The latter was good and spicy, though it lacked flavor somewhat. Chicken tikka masala and dal makhani were delicious. Saag paneer was A-OK; there were 3 paneer kebab pieces and the gravy was bland. Four of us enjoyed a delicious dinner at Chaska about ten days ago, and I've been meaning to write a review since then. We shared the cauliflower app (a bit spicier than expected but my husband's wussy) and truffle oil Naan, and for entrees: shrimp tacos, Chana masala, Goan chicken curry, and roasted veggies flatbread. Rice pudding dessert was different than others I've had but yummy. Cool atmosphere too - pretty inside, beautiful live edge wood bar, not too dark and not noisy As for the service, outstanding! Garden City's Most Delicious Sensation. Newest sensation. When I mean new, I mean different from the high cholesterol, fried, high carb foods around that area. I never sat and eat at an Indian restaurant before. The smell lured me in from outside. I was the best smell I experienced walking out of the parking lot and into the Starbucks. I took a detour and decided to get lunch here since the Chef special and the I had to investigate the wonderful aroma. Chef Special Pick: Starter. Sat down and started off with the Shrimp Taco. The shrimp taco was pulled with shredded lettuce and purple cabbage. The sauce was in a creamer size cup. It was a tamarind mix. SMACKING my flavor palate left and right. Clean and light with fresh avocado sliced on top. (Exact Description: Shrimp Taco onion, lettuce, tomato, sauerkraut, avocado, shrimp) Entree. Lamb Roganjosh. (Lamb Roganjosh Chaska Caesar walnuts, oatmeal croutons, buttermilk whole garam masala, braised onions, yogurt) I have eaten rice in a while because of my low carb intake. I'm so glad that I decided to change it up today. I have kind of lactose intolerance issue that sometimes it will be an issue. Did not have an issues. (NOT saying if you have lactose issues that you should not careful - This is just me and only my experience). Enough of my rant. The Lamb was the amazing. Again, high stars is not common. Chaska is one of my favorite restaurants in Garden City! It seems to differentiate itself from some of its other sister restaurants (Rasoi, Kebab & Curry, Rasa...) by leaning more into "modern Indian." This means you'll find certain fusion items on the menu like coconut clam chowder, avocado sweet potato chaat, and an array of Indian tacos. Probably not the most authentic dishes but the flavors are consistently bold and aromatic, just like you would expect from Indian cuisine. My favorite appetizers include the paneer and corn flatbread (think of this as almost an Indian style pizza), the Brussels sprouts thoran (so flavorful), and the chili cauliflower (perfect for if you like a little spicy and a little sweet). I almost always opt for a curry for my entree and you really can't go wrong. The chicken korma, saag paneer, and chettinad shrimp curry are my personal favorites. Finally for dessert, do yourself a favor and order the Parle g cheesecake if you like cardamom. Ohh wow, you know how sometimes one just gets lucky and finds a perfect place, that is what I'll say about recent dining experience at Chaska. While on recent trip to Cape Cod, we wanted to stop by and have lunch on our way back home, and decided to try Chaska out for lunch, and I'm glad we came here. Everything from decor, ambiance, service, and food were really good, and the staff went above and beyond to make our lunch very memorable. One thing to note about this place is the decor, it is super chic and yet traditional. The silverware and everything else they use to serve food has a rustic twist to it. Really liked all the colors and a mix of modern and traditional touch to everything. We started off with drinks, and let me tell you, their drinks will knock your socks off. All of their cocktails come with a welcome twist, I had the pomegranate flavor mojito and that was the perfect drink for a hot day. Everybody else in our group also really liked their drinks. Now to food, we got the whole array of apps and mains. They were kind enough to customize the panned appetizer and make it without any spices for the kids in our party. Really liked the favors of chicken 65, malai kebab and chilli cauliflower. They got us a guacamole based appetizer on the house which was super nice of them. For mains, we had the chicken biryani, chicken kadhai, lunch combo, stuffed naan and rotis. They got us jackfruit entree on the house...everything was super flavorful and really cooked to perfection. This was my second time eating at the restaurant, I've ordered takeout multiple times as well, and it was great! We ate outside and the setup was cute and perfect for a romantic night out. They always start off with brining out waters along with an extra jar of water for refilling as you need. The food was delicious and came out super fast. Took me a while to venture into Indian cuisine but Chaska certainly was the right place to do it--been back three times since initial visit 8 months ago! I'm a big fan of the harissa-spiced, grilled chicken tikka, while my companion goes for the lamb dishes. We split the generous fattoush salad and either the garlic-cilantro naan or Za'atar naan. One of my favorite restaurants in garden city. I love both outdoor and indoor dining herbut I will say the interior design is attractive and unique. On my most recent visit we took advantage of the Monday date night menu. For $60 you will get a bottle of wine, shared appetizer, 2 main courses, naan and dessert. The white wine we had was fine. Already back at Chaska!! Just can't get enough of their food! Everything I get is so full of great flavors and the staff is wicked friendly. During lunch, I chowed down on their Chicken Tikka Flatbread ($12) and Chicken Korma ($13) which has a ridiculously good cashew sauce. I finished my mom's Brussels Sprouts Thoran ($11), which is a must have, and the Chicken Masala ($12). Portions here are pretty good. The chicken dishes each had 6 big cubes of juicy chicken and for the flatbread, it was bigger than I thought and what an amazing idea to put chicken tikka on a pizza. What a great dining experience. The service was A+ and the server was very attentive. I was undecided between two of their drinks and went with his recommendation, and sure glad I did. The garlic naan was fresh and authentic, watching them use the tandoor oven like they were pros was awesome. The chicken korma was rich, bold, and full of flavor. Pretty tasty Indian food. My aunt and I were itching to get out of the house tonight so we ended up here for some appetizers. On Mondays and Tuesdays they have a $60 deal, you get one appetizer, two entrees, truffle oil naan, a bottle of wine, and a dessert to split, which isn't bad. However, we weren't super hungry, so we got the Punjabi Samosa Chaat, which my aunt had ordered before, and the naan bread stuffed with chicken tikka masala. The chaat was delicious albeit a little spicy. I thought the naan would be amazing but it was just okay. It came with lentils and mango chutney, and the chutney was great, but the serving was small. Waitservice was good and we sat outside which was nice. The interior looked very nice as well, I went in a few times to use the restroom. This place has the best indian food i've ever had and quickly became my personal favorite restaurant from the first time i've ever had it. they serve several authentic indian dishes with amazing flavors but my personal favorites have been the butter chicken, the chicken and shrimp short breads, tandoori chicken, garlic naan and mango lassi. The ambiance was very stylish and could easily be a date place. It's clean and tidy. We can also see the kitchen like Cheesecake Factory. The food was pretty good too. We tried their chicken 65, naan flatbreads, chicken biryani, chicken tikka and the chicken kadai. The naans were really good. It wasn't thick as you would find in most of the Indian restaurants in US. Also, absolutely loved their chocolate banana pudding. The only complaint is the service. Very slow and it wasn't even half capacity. More importantly, the waiter constantly forgot to serve us the sides which they usually serve and we had to wait and ask for it every time. My wife and I were in the area doing errands on May 17th. By the end of them I was feeling daring and ready to try a new food that we haven't tried before. I've always wanted to try Indian food but my wife is more nervous when it comes to trying new foods. The hostess was patient while we looked through the menu deciding if we wanted to stay and order something. After we decided to stay we had Savio as our waiter. He was equally patient with us as we figured out what foods to get. He worked with my wife in determining what foods she does and doesn't like. He gave us lots of information about Indian cuisine during and after the meal and we ended with their chai tea which was incredible. Ordered takeout from these guys. Haven't been here since pre-COVID. Looks a little different. The outdoor dining area is spacious and quite pretty. I was only grabbing my order to go. I know from a previous visit that this restaurant offered vegan menu items. I could fairly easily guess which ones they were on the menu, but it's not easy to see which items are vegan when ordering online. Their sister/parent company Rasoi offers more vegan dishes in my opinion. I was surprised Chaska has no vegan naan when Rasoi has so many vegan naan flavors. I ordered a side of dal makhani, bbq mushrooms, avocado sweet potato chaat, and jackfruit korma. The korma was my favorite by far. Really rich in flavor and had me questioning if it was vegan. The dal was flavorful and not watered down. The mushroom recipe has changed for the better in that it was less vinegary and came packed with sun dried tomatoes. Sanitizer on the tables masks etc. Everyone is exceptional from the host to the waiter to the owner. We got a a sampling of everything - ok almost everything. And drinks. The garlic naan not pictured, was banging. Warm fluffy and flavorful. The vindaloo spicy and the masala smooth and rich. And random - OMG THE RIBS!!!!! I could've eaten 30.
