Terrible service I walked in to made my car loan payment, teller toke my check and gave me a receipt for that payment. Two weeks later I received a notice that chase said I didn't pay and charged me late fees too. Even though they already cashed my check. I went to this location where normally do my payments for a year.i talked to the teller who helped me 2 weeks before I received the letter. Pay at the bank ( location) they messed me up . Now I do payments over the phone they still messed up ..sent me letter stating I didn't pay ( the agent I talked to make my payment) After 2 weeks investigation they admitted this agent mistyped 1 digit that is the reason why payment didn't go thru . But they asking me to do the late fees for the mistake they made ( It was an Indian male agent who helped me that day over the phone ). So why i have to pay late fees for his mistake ... Went to make a cash deposit that included (along with bills) $1.91 in coins- 6 quarters, 3 dimes, 2 nickles, and 6 pennies. The teller told me that the bank policy is that they don't accept loose coins unless they are in a roll. I aksed "Isn't this a bank, and isn't that money?". She said yes, but the policy only allows for rolled coins. I told her that I could understand if I had enough coins for a roll, but this is ridiculous. She then started talking over me whenever I tried to say something. I guess I'll go back to the credit where they don't make up policies and don't embarass you... read more

Don't come here, Chase needs to clean house here. Every time I come here, their ATM's don't work. I come to this Chase because it is convenient, near my work, on the way and no need to deviate anywhere. Every time I try to come here to use their ATM's, they're broken. There's a message on the screen saying the ATM is not functional. They also have the old ATM's, not the newer one's. I think its a clear sign management....the old one are not sustainable anymore and you need to get the new one's. Today was the last straw and why I am yelping about it. I went in and one of the ATM's was actually functional. I started o use it, it was super slow. I probably stood there for 5 minutes only the get my card back and a receipt saying this ATM can't give money right now. I think they need to just change management here, they obviously don't care about Customer Service and would rather not give you your money. This place is very bad for the Chase brand. They almost never fix the ATM machines which are often broken. It's difficult to get an appointment here. Sometimes it's a bit dirty. This is a small branch and while they have tried to renovate it with some glass walls overall it's just a quick tiny stop to pass through if you're coming from the freeway and need to check your accounts, but coming here to get serviced staff isn't always the most helpful (it's average). Mainly what bothers me is that there isn't much help after mentioning your card gets stuck in the ATM, it's like they expect you to do their job and hand adequate service depositing or withdrawing cash in substandard or old non-functioning ATMs which is pretty ludicrous. read more

Came here to open an account and they sent me to Sukhminder. He was patient and professional. He had an upcoming appointment but made sure he hashed out the details for me and even helped me deposit my cash. Usually, other bankers would send you on your way to do it yourself. It's the little things that make the experience a whole difference! This branch is conveniently located in a plaza that has plenty of things to do to keep you busy in case you came during rush hour. I can see that they are slightly understaffed and need a better system when it comes to break/lunch. Came to the bank at 4:35, waited 5 minutes and they came out at 4:40 to refuse helping us with the reason they close at 5pm, not enough time. Tried to open a trust bank account and got the total run around. The people do not want to help and went so far as to say we don't like these type accounts because the bank doesn't make enough money. If you're coming for a teller transaction, great service. If you're coming to speak to a banker or any banker transactions, go elsewhere. They only have one man on site and he is the least helpful. A fairly new or seems new branch located in Newark area, nearby my favorite Venus Tam Cafe (same plaza). Staffs are very friendly and helpful here; they also have a few ATM machines as you walk in to the branch. I like inside ATM a lot better than the ones located outside of the banks. It would be even safer if they can have a security guard outside of the bank though. read more

I called the Jarvis Branch because I was in town and wanted to speak with someone in the branch to confirm that the 4pm close time was the time that the Tellers leave because my transaction requires interaction with a Teller (I didn't want to chance anything). When I called the first time, the phone rang for almost a minute before a recording went on. I was hoping that the recoring would verify the close time, but instead just referred customers to an 800 #, so, I called again; I was happy someone answered. My joy was short-lived when the lady who answered answered with a rushed, blunt tone asking me to hold. She got back on the phone and with the same rushed, blunt tone, and said, "'Ma'am I'll have to take your information down and call you back when the line dies down" ... she didn't even say 'Thank you for holding'. She made me feel like I was more a bother than an appreciated customer who entrusts them with my money ... I calmly said 'Actually, all I need is to verify when the tellers leave, because I have a transaction that requires Teller-interaction' ... '4pm' she says abruptly.... I've been a 'Chase' customer since they were 'Great Western'... I live in Walnut Creek and have never had an issue with customer service at that branch, be it via phone or in person ... it would behoove the Jarvis Branch to learn a few things from the Walnut Creek Branch.... I've been to this CHASE Branch quite a few times, it's located inside the Raley's Shopping Center here in Newark. A fairly new branch that has been open for quite a while now. My experience here at this branch could have definitely been better. I came here sometime in August to open a new CHASE bank account, and also to get a new CHASE Debit Card. I opened up a CHASE Total Checking Account. As a Student just about getting ready to start and begin College, it seems right to finally get my own Debit Card to be able to make purchases on things I need in general and things I need for College and what not. Now, when we walked in, we we're serviced right away. However I did not know what was needed in order for me to open up a CHASE bank account and a Debit Card. It also seemed like the person who helped us, did not know himself what we needed. We had to come back at least 3 times because the guy kept telling us we did needed this, we needed this and that. He should known from the the beginning and told us what we needed before we started, therefore we could get the items needed and not have to keep moving around and coming back and fourth. After I finally had the right documentation to open up a new CHASE bank account and get a Debit Card, I finally was able to do all that. This however took quite a lot of my day.... The only reason my parents and I frequent this branch is because it happens to be the closest CHASE Branch near us. Otherwise we would head to a different CHASE Branch. It you noticed, I gave the Union Landing CHASE Branch in Union City, 4 stars. Too bad that location is pretty far from us. I come here a lot because it's one of the closer Chase locations to where I live, and there's usually ample parking. It's usually a pleasant experience, but my last visit left a lot to be desired. I had to make a cash deposit. There was a line at the ATMs, but I usually deposit cash with a live teller anyway. Just one of those weird things. Anyway, here was my interaction: Me: Hi, I'd like to make a deposit. *hands over cash* Teller: Did you know you can make a deposit at the ATM? Me: Yes. Teller: Do you not like to do that? Me: No. Teller: Any reason why? Me: I just don't. Teller: Ok, then you'll have to fill out a deposit slip. *hands me deposit slip* Me: Fine. (at this point I'm thinking I've never been asked to do this) Teller: You should really try to use the ATM to deposit in the future. Me: I won't use it to deposit cash. (thinking... if everybody uses the ATM for everything, then you wouldn't have a job, right?) On the way out, I heard the teller next to the one who was helping me tell her customer the same exact thing, encouraging her to use the ATM. That's when I knew this was probably a new training thing, and not just the teller who was helping me. So if the management of this Chase branch reads this... encouraging your customers to use the ATM is not great customer service. We all know there are ATMs at every branch. We pass by them every time we visit a branch. We know there's an option there. We also know we have the option of having a real, live person help us. So unless you're planning on doing away with bank tellers, I'm gonna continue to deposit cash the way I've always done it, and I expect not to be hassled while I'm doing it. read more

Fast and friendly service in a Saturday afternoon. They have that currently where you can create a new account and chase will give you $200. My mom signed up for it and so I went in with her to deposit some extra cash. There were a few bank tellers in the window and one guy working the main area for account details....we sat at their waiting station while my mom deposited money and the dude was super prompt about checking with us to see if we needed any thing. The building looks pretty New and they serve customers with fresh hot coffee and creamer. Win! It wasn't terrible either lol. I've been a Chase customer for over 15 years, My husband and I came to open a joint account. We came here 20 min before closing and the guy said he can't help us we need to come another day. Good thing we both got off work early! He said the other person there was leaving. Oh well I would love to leave customers waiting and just go home whenever I want. What the heck... why all the negative reviews?! I love CHASE! This place is big, clean and quiet with good service.

The reviews are true...This specific branch was better when WaMu was in charge of it. I still have a chase checking account and it's the only account that I have with this bank, since it's still free checking. But I must say that nearly every time I go into this branch, there is like 1 teller servicing the entire withdrawl/deposit line. And there are clearly 3 tellers there, the 2 others seem to be doing nothing of importance. Sometimes they are even chit chatting with each other over nothing and giggling. There is almost always a line inside the branch. Don't be in a rush when going to this bank. They take their sweet time. One plus is that the tellers are generally nice and courteous. However, what really irks me when I come here, is when the bankers (who have their own desk) pull you aside from the line to help with your transaction, but they make you talk to them about all these dumb services that you don't need. I really really hate that. Just let me do what I came to do!! When I compare this to my husband's branch (he doesn't have Chase), it is significantly far superior to this Chase location. There is never a line, there are constantly like 4-5 tellers working with customers. You're in and you're out. One last positive note though, there is usually always close parking (at least!). I came here to deposit some checks for my family. It was the closest branch so that's why I came here. I am not sure why there are so many bad reviews and ratings though. It didn't seem that bad to me. I was greeted immediately when I walked in. It wasn't busy and there was only one other person ahead of me. A few tellers were working with multiple customers already, so I didn't mind the waiting. I didn't have to wait long before it was my turn either. When it was my turn, the teller was very quick to deposit my checks. I was in and out in like 10 minutes. The teller was very nice and worked very quickly, too. Overall, my experience was decent and I have no complaints. I would come again for a quick deposit. read more

I will never stop by this Chase bank location. Poor in customer service, waited in line for a quite sometime. There was only one teller and everyone else was just walking around pretending they were working. At the point of my turn I asked the teller for my free checks I never received. She said she wouldn't give me the checks just because she couldn't tell if I received them in the past! Whatever happened to customer service? She ended up charging me for them. It looks like the top 5 chase bank has really bad reviews... Bad customer service, great promotions! I came into this bank to create a new account because of their promotion- get this many dollars when you open a new account. The banker who helped was really helpful at first, and told me that I needed this much money to put in the account to get the money. I said okay, I'll do that later that week. I also had a check that I wanted to deposit so I asked them to split it in half, half in the savings and half in the checkings. two days later I checked to see my account only to find that the money in my savings wasn't in there, but the money in the checking was fine. I called my banker to ask what was up, at first he didn't remember me, then I told him I was the one who opened the account and split my check. Then he started to remember. He said he would call me back once he found out what happened. He didn't call back, but he made some other guy call and apologize to me. So I guess that was okay and let it slide. I finally got a cashiers check from a different bank to add into this account, unfortunately i wrote it to the bank instead of my name. I wish someone had told me to do that, since I don't normally write checks or even get or receive cashiers check. So I wasted my time and had to go to the bank again. I find nothing really wrong with this branch. The ATMs work fine, the tellers have been friendly. And one of the bankers helped me with a question albeit a little pushy. Most of the reviews here just seem like over reactive people who want life to revolve around them. It's a bank, banks arent meant to be glamorous, they're kinda function only type places. As long as they're not snapping at you or outright ignoring you, there's no problem and the staff here doesn't do that. If you have a problem with Chase's policies, take it up with the head office in NYC not a branch in Newark, California. read more

I had a appointment to find out what I needed to do to complete a business project ( in the makings for 15 years). The banker at this branch did not provide me with sufficient information to complete the task , or give me a direction on what I should do. Instead I was told to do nothing and to talk to the county recorder for a real estate project I am working on. Let me start off by saying that for the pass 25 years I have done business with Great Western to Washington Mutual to now Chase Bank . And in all that tie I have not had any problems with their dealings and accounts. HOWEVER, I needed do special business with them ( not to get into great detail). I have been working on a "project" now for 19 years trying to do this. And in filling out form packages twice, it was unsuccessful. My project is simple and involves real estate. I wanted to try again to rectify the dealings again so I called Chase 3 times, and went to different branch bankers to try to get information on getting special paperwork and how to go about getting my project done. Out of all 6 attempts, I was given 6 opinions on what to do. I was told to go to the court and get a special form , which they could not tell me the exact name of the form I needed. I was told to contact the County Recorders department, I was told that I should get a real estate lawyer and even a family lawyer. All of which can run in to the thousands of $$. I finally called the -1-800 AGAIN, and was able to explain my project to a lady named Lisete. She gave me all the information I needed and which pathway I should go to get the project completed. FINALLY , someone who knew what they were talking about. BOTTOM LINE. If you need to work with real estate issues, you better make dam sure to get accurate information. The previous people did not know what I was talking about, wether it could be done or even what route to go. I was directed to the county recorder, the court, several lawyers and in one case to do nothing. NOT ALL BANKERS are completely informed of policies , protocols or paper work, in order to get my project completed. My project involved a simple matter and all I needed was guidance on what forms I needed , where to file , what documents to present. Lets just say this was no multi million dollar deal , yet something very very small and fixable. Thanks to Lisset from the call center I have the correct forms to get my project completed. MAKE SURE YOU GET ACCURATE INFORMATION FROM THE BANKERS AND FROM THE CALL CENTERS or else you ll never complete your project. read more

I have been a customer since WAMU and before. When I retired due to open heart surgery, I asked to put my account on hold. They continued to charge my account over the next year since I could not cancel my account. When I finally went in since they would not transfer the account by phone or written note. Today I went to this branch to open a new personal checking account. I have an existing business account, and though I'd like to have a personal account with them because they have been fairly good so far. I arrived twenty minutes before closing and waited ten minutes plus to be seen. At that time I was told it was too late to open a account and that it takes "fourteen minutes" and they'd be closed. We would have to come back tomorrow. I was able to get into my car and drive across the street arriving at Wells Fargo only five minutes before their official closing time. They opened our checking account for us once a person opened up to help us. We were not even seen until after the bank officially closed. Very disappointed with chase! read more

Sometimes I wonder why I even bank here... They have over 6 banker desks but one banker... Sometimes no banker... And one teller. I don't think they really get any kind of special customer service training. I usually have to wait forever for a banker it's ridiculous and a waste of time. How are we suppose to give them our business when there's no one to help transition it? The one banker who was working came up to me and said "I'm opening an account I don't know how long it'll be..
