A consistently bad experience, is how I'd describe Provident credit union. If I operated at the same level of competency (or incompetence) as provident credit union after 75 years in an industry, I would be ashamed. From the app sucking, random seemingly unwarranted fees and their staffs failure to promptly explain why, that one time I went in and felt like my presence made the person helping me uncomfortable or nervous. I would only recommend this credit union to someone if I had a genuine distain for that person. fortunately, I have another credit union; unfortunately, my Zelle account is attached to my account at provident forcing me to deal with their incompetence every now and then. despite how irregularly I use them, they still manage to disappoint. read more

Jackie Johnson is my banker and she is soooooo supportive and helpful. She explained things in detailed and also helped me understand each item on my contract with Toyota and my previous financing bank (Ally Auto). I closed my account years ago and I was unable to open another checking account due to Provident claiming I hadn't closed my account. I had fraudulent transactions on my account that I repeated and they still made me pay what they believed was an outstanding balance which I already paid to close the account. In their records for this to happen, they had to re-open the account to close it. This is extremely shady and I've had the absolute worse experience with their bank. No other credit union I have tried to make me feel embarrassed, incompetent, or angry, for mistakes that they made. Don't go here or the Hayward branch or bother having an account here. My family also had 3 of their accounts here prior and had nothing but problems, even worse than mine, with over $10K missing they couldn't even find. They don't service identity theft victims and they certainly won't reimburse you for fraudulent transactions, in fact they'll charge you again for transactions you already paid for that you didn't even make. Furthermore, their other affiliated ATMs (PatelCo) in Fremont don't work, they ate my card and my money multiple times over the years, and I had to submit a number of forms to try and regain lost money. Is this even a bank? It doesn't feel like a business and seems completely broken. I strongly advise against having any accounts here. The customer service is terrible and never in my life had I had such a bad experience with financial services. I normally don't write negative reviews, but this is written to hopefully encourage people and educate them about the quality of the business practices in these types of banks and credit unions and to seek a professional standard, this one met none of them and if I could give 0 or negative stars I would. read more

She will have to ask for all my information with some questions. I have been a credit union member of another company for over 30 years and I used other CU for lots of business banking when I travel and never had this type of invasive experience. Nothing against the specific location or the staff, I've just overall been dissatisfied with provident. I signed up with them because I was getting paid in cash and needed a credit union with closer locations than Navy Federal, but then I started getting paid checks and realized I can make instant cash deposits to my nfcu account through certain atms. I still use my provident account to pay bills and maintain their membership requirements, but it's really just been an inconvenience dealing with them. I've almost had insurance policies canceled because there is no notification system for certain fraud alerts on your card and no way for you to see or undo this in the app. (you have to call) I never got a credit card with them or set up my business account here, so my experience is limited, with that being said: I personally would not want to further my experience with them and would recommend looking else wear if you are considering a new credit union. read more

I have been looking for a new bank as the major ones seem to always find some new way to charge fees and I have had just able enough of it! I never used a credit union because my parents didn't use them and I dont know much about them. Finally, with some research and shopping around, I decided to choose this bank. The people seem very genuine and they have alot more benefits putting your money there. The only downer is because I am a new member, I have to wait 10 days for every transfer into the bank which I was a bit annoyed of.
