My recent experience with Chase Bank, specifically the much publicized Chase Slate card and its supposed 15 month zero percent apr and no transfer fees, is a total scam in my opinion. I went to their website and filled out the necessary paperwork, including the credit cards and balances I wanted to transfer and at the end I got a message saying congratulations, I have a new Chase Bank card (with an insulting $800.00 credit line) and with an over 22% apr. When I contacted the credit card company, they said I would have to have my credit run again to approve a higher credit limit. This is not what I wanted at all. All I wanted was to transfer already approved credit debt from other institutions to take advantage of the supposed benefits from the Chase Slate card. I believe it is a total bait and switch, beware! Since I am trying to consolidate some current debt, there is no way I would be approved for another credit increase equal to the amount for which I am trying to transfer. That is like doubling down on the same debt load. When I spoke to a supervisor about it, she was talking so fast and over the top of me, I had to ask her three times to slow down so I could understand a word she said. When I asked to speak to her supervisor, I was told that there was no one else I could speak to but I could send a letter to the executive office in Elgin ,IL if I wanted to continue my complaint. The only thing she offered me was to reject the card, which I did, but my credit rating still shows the inquiry for this ridiculous fiasco. I feel this is truly bad business and they should be ashamed of themselves and held accountable for their alleged deceit. read more
