Incredibly long phone hold times since within the past 2 years. What changed? Is it due to branch closings??

I was a customer of Larkin Bank back in the 80's. They were eventually bought by Chase which is…read morewhere we still bank. Our family (parents, children, etc) has used Chase ever since Chase came to Elgin. I have both my personal and business accounts at Chase as does the rest of my family. Over the years Chase has become less and less responsive. During Covid, I applied for PPP thru Chase and received nothing. We're a a small company with 3 employees. I'm sure all of their major corporate customers we taken care of to the tune of millions, probably billions. We also had business with TBK. They contacted us to see if we needed help. They were able to get us a small PPP loan without any issues. Last year I had a business check stolen out of the mail and washed. They change the amount to $4500 and the name to some rando in Missouri. Deposited it via phone thru their bank. ABSOLUTELY ALL OF THE SECURITY info was wiped, no watermark, no foil seal, nothing. I paid for checks with the full security features. Chase paid it, no problem. My 8 yo granddaughter saw the difference between that check and the others when she looked online. Who or what checks when it arrives at Chase. Stevie Wonder could have seen the issues. Regretfully, my accountant only reconciles quarterly so we missed the 60 day window to get reimbursed. The check was not much better than notebook paper and some type, but they paid it. Presently, I've been a POA and sines on my moms bank accounts. She passed away last month. I went to Chase, met with the Branch Manager, let he know if the passing. She was able to consolidate her accounts and move what money she had to checking. I explained I had bills to pay such as cremation, nursing home care, Drs bills, utilities on her home, etc. I left the bank, went home and write out bills. About 7-10 days later I start getting letters from Chase that the account was frozen because one of the signers had passed. ALL of the checks for her bills were returned unpaid. Rather embarrassing to have the check for the funeral home returned. They knew I was going to pay bills, however, no warning that the account would be frozen. On the positive note, the ATM access is great. I've learned to use the security features via the web. I now have any deposit or withdrawal of more than $1 set for review by me. otherwise not much else. We carry a decent balance in our business and personal checking accounts. The interest is .01%. and now they charge $25 for our personal account because we don't have more that 100k in investments or savings. Not sure how banks work but I assume they loan out our deposits? At the current 6-7% they charge for loans they can make 6000 off of a 100k deposit. In exchange they don't charge $25 for my checking account? Very generous on their part. I guess it's time to find a local bank that supports the local businesses and people. Good bye Chase

Never i will get another auto loan or a card with this bank!! They have issues processing payments and will not help anyone with disability as the bank it self discriminates disabled people! I will get the news as i have recording of all the people we talk to and yet they have no idea how to fix the payments. All those people that are higher as manager and gm just have the certificate but still have the same level knowledge as a regular employee!! Makes no sense! Go local stop going to big corporations as they wont contribute back to your community. Local banks are way better and offer more things. GO LOCAL!!!

We have been with PNC Bank for almost 20 years. Our closest local bank is this branch on Summit…read moreStreet in Elgin, IL. At a time when PNC is actually closing their local banks and turning them into "Solution Centers," which do not function as a normal bank and you cannot do normal banking transactions there, it's great to have a branch that is still normal and has a drive thru, etc. However, just recently, this branch has been a mess. Long lines out the door in the lobby, lines wrapped around the building in the two drive thru lines. Regularly there seems to be only one person working everything, although there can be 2-4 more people in the branch just standing around. Today was unacceptable. I am self employed and receive multiple checks from clients. It's just easier to run through the drive thru and quickly make one deposit. Don't trust the atm with good reason, and electronic deposit doesn't always work. We sat behind a car that was ahead of us, just ONE car ahead of us, that's sat at the drive thru terminal for 20 MINUTES and didn't move. Finally we couldn't wait any more, so we pulled around to the lobby entrance, I tried to go in and the door was locked. The lobby was packed with a long line. I was met at the door by the bank "hostess" and the security guard lady. They said the lobby was closed because it was too full and that I should use the drive thru. (We are talking through the glass door) I said I have been sitting in the drive thru with only one car ahead of me that hasn't been served and hadn't moved for 20 minutes and I just need to make a simple, quick deposit. What do I do? I asked what was going on. They then immediately raised their voices at me and said, "The lobby is closed. Use the drive thru." I repeated the problem with the drive thru and once again asked why there is such a problem inside and outside. They elevated their voices again, especially the security guard who got in my face through the glass and kept yelling the same thing over and over. Truly, what is going on here? Customers are not being served well by PNC and certainly not at this branch. If you are short staffed, assuming that's the problem, hire more people or borrow staff from other local branches. To be met at the door of a bank that's supposed to be open with such hostility is disturbing. Great way to treat loyal customers. You're welcome that we continue to do business there. Holy cow.
