Truly a one-of-a-kind place! Came here for the first time for their summer market & was so impressed! They have people there to assist with parking and the place is mapped out so you can see where everything is. It was really well organized. I loved looking through everything there and all of the vendors - so many great finds!! It was hard to limit myself to just a few pieces. They have a lot of unique things at great prices! All of the vendors I spoke with were extremely friendly and the overall vibe was just a blast. They have food trucks and drinks there too so you can easily make a day of it (at least for the market events). My mom and I had so much fun & I can't wait to come back in the future! Downtown Frederick isn't too far either so there's plenty of close restaurants & other shopping to do as well. If you've been to Luckett's before, this is kind of similar. I was super impressed with this place though and had so much fun - left with a super cute vintage 1929 chest & a frame this time! read more

Check their calendar of events for special Saturdays like "Spring Market Day" with additional tag sales and local vendors set up outside. It was amazing, again definitely worth the 6am wake up call and 3 hour road trip from Pittsburgh. There was plenty of affordable finds from romantic french country inspired pieces to rustic and farmhouse styles. Very cool concept and idea. Building 1 is by fat the main 2 level barn with a lot of goods am sure that over the summer they expand outwards but during the winter stay inside. It's a must to wear a pair of boots especially during the winter. It gets very muddy. The assortment changes monthly so you might not find the same thing the next month. The stuff I found to be a tad over priced but it won't break your bank account. Example you may find a table there for $45 when other spots might charge $34, not that bad of a difference but just be ready Happy picking!! read more

I really can't believe that their isn't a review for this place on here, its great! Chartreuse & Co is a cute "barn sale" that happens every third weekend of the month and occasionally twice a month. The primary focus is home decor with a splash of vintage clothing thrown into the mix. The curator of the place does an excellent job of having the right kind of vendors in place to add enough interest and variation while keeping everything along the same kind of lines. If you like drooling over the Restoration Hardware catalogs as much as I do you'll definitely find some pieces here to fill that void in your life. I hate to use the word fabulous as its the most commonly used word by its vendors to describe items, but Chartreuse & Co is well Fabulous in nearly all aspects. Upon arriving there is parking staff directing you where to go, then you first come to a little ratty old barn filled with doors and miscellaneous fixtures, occasionally some gems in there, but you definitely have to be willing to get your hands dirty to refinish any of them. This past weekend an oak barrister was in there without a price tag, it would have been a great pick up for about $100 I'm guessing. Next is a big barn filled with recently refinished furniture. Essentially everything has been painted one of three hues (white, blue or black) and then "distressed" by hand. Everything from $30 side tables to $150 wardrobes and the occasional wooden ice box are there. None of it is perfect, but most of it is old enough to made of real wood so its not going to fall apart in a month. If you're looking for cheap furniture that has some character this is the place. Finally the main attraction is the largest barn on the property that has at least 20 different vendors inside. Each booth brings a little something different to the table, from salvaged postal mail sorting bins, refinished furniture, primitive benches, odd lamps, artisan candles, carnival wheels, the required antique bed frame into a bench, hardware, mirrors, area rugs, etc. For the guys who go there is also enough history to keep you occupied with industrial pieces plucked from factories around the country, and one vendor selling old blueprints for industrial machinery for about $19 a piece. My gripes about the place are short. The pricing is, IMO, a little steep. I've done some homework on a few items and with a little patience on Craigslist, I can usually find them for less than half of the listed price. I guess the convenience of being able to go to one place to get a ton of options that accepts credit cards as a form of payment is pretty nice though. My other issue is that its excuse for a restroom is mortifying. Seriously if you're going to only have one port-a-john have it replaced every sale weekend. Gross. Assuming that you don't have the bladder of a two year old like me you'll be safe. read more

We have been here three times since moving to Frederick in 2016. Every time we come we find just the perfect item that we have been searching for. This time it was a cedar chest to store my Pendleton blankets. It is a very fun and happening place to explore the wares on a weekend. I came here on an antiques hunt and was incredibly disappointed. I'd say at least half of their products were new-made-to-look-old items which are great if that's what you're looking for, but it wasn't the antiques source I was told it would be. The few genuine antiques I found seemed priced very high. The place was also crazy crowded (think Costco on the weekend before Thanksgiving) which made navigating all the buildings a pain because the masses of customers blocked most of the walking areas in the buildings. I wouldn't come back here just because of their product offering (new as antiques). read more

While many friends rave about this place, I wasn't as big of a fan. Went for the first time during market days and it was insane. There wasn't enough parking for everyone and very place was overly cramped with people. I'm sure there was a fire hazard with all the people in the small barn ect. While the items were cute, they were highly priced for something you can find elsewhere for much much less. I didn't understand the hype at all. It was hard to find someone to help you and the lines were so long that it wasn't worth it to purchase anything. read more

So much great stuff here, but the prices are on the high side. There are 5 or 6 buildings and they are full vintage, antique, and refinished items. I came on a Sunday once and I got a few great deals like a large pair of painted side tables that were priced at $198, but had been marked down to $98 since it was the last day of the sale. The vendor said they will often do that on Sundays so keep that in mind. They also have lots of people to help you if you buy a large item. read more

A wonderful destination! One weekend per month, and I have found a lot of treasures here. It's well worth the visit. That said, there are a few "dud" areas - a section of books that feels a lot like the remainder stores in outlet centers; an area devoted to rugs that are overpriced and under-interesting; and a whole room in an otherwise-cute outbuilding, with designer clothing and shoes....all pretty much in one size. Hubs and I live in the DC metro region so take this with a grain of salt but we find this to be an amazing source of affordable, beautiful and quality items to furnish our first home. This place is incredible! Even if you don't buy anything, just walking around is enjoyable. They do a great job setting up the displays... Feels like you are walking through the set of a HGTV show. You can find some beautiful pieces of furniture and unique decorations throughout the many buildings they have. We've furnished much of our first floor with high quality, one of a kind pieces from Chartreuse and Co, and it cost us about the same as it would have cost to get the furniture at Ikea. read more

I have been going to Chartreuse for a couple of years now. The concept is great. The once a month open with special weekends like Fall Market Days and changing vendors create a nice buzz with a festive atmosphere. That's the good news. The not so good news is that while the number of vendors has increased over the years, the quality of the product has decreased. The prices tend to be high for what you get. The last several times I went to Chartreuse, I went home empty handed. There seems to be no end to the pieces of very cheap furniture already painted in the tiresome chalk paint blues, greens and greys. True vintage pieces are a rare find and when you do find them, the prices are out of line. I hope the owners get through the growing pains and start to be more discriminating in the selection of the vendors. Serious curating is sorely needed. I still recommend going to Chartreuse. It's a fun experience, especially on a beautiful day. Make a day of it and pop over to Family Meal in Frederick for a good meal after shopping. read more

Went there today for their Annual Super Sale. It's located south of Frederick, with a ton of items for sale. A lot of cool stuff - vintage, furniture, farm stuff, etc. like a high-end consignment shop. We would have bought more stuff, but some of the prices seemed a bit high. It was definitely popular. I think the sheer number of people made the check-out time a bit long. There are some food vendors there if you spend more time looking around. I think if you get there a little later in the day (we left at 12:30PM or so), it's a lot less crowded. read more
