    Cutest stairway!

Another gem that is located right across from The Old Lucketts Store! This is on my list of places to stop by when I come out this way and it should be on yours too! They have tons of cute decorative pieces, antiques, and other unique items. I love coming around the holidays or new seasons to get some seasonal items as well. Even if you don't walk away with anything, it's a fun place to browse & get some decorative ideas from!

Great parking areas both on the side and in the back of the store!

My wife loves this place. Distressed/antique goods in pastel colors? This is the shop for you.

Think of it as a real life Pinterest board. This antique design house has floors upon floors of old window panes, milk glass vases, vintage cake toppers, and a carefully curated collection of fifties inspired prom dresses (perfect for a bridesmaids --if her waist is a size 16). Even if you are not headed for nuptial bliss, you can appreciate a day of antiquing in the country. No second guesses on whether or not you are buying a haunted tea cup at all, because all the pieces have been gussied up and styled for your viewing pleasure. While most restoration pieces can go for several thousand dollars or more in the District, I found On a Whim to be very reasonably priced (and this is coming from a girl whose furniture was bought at Target).

Went to :On A Whim" to check things out. I was only able to check out one building, which was the main one, when you first entered the parking lot. It is 2 stories and filled with treasures. It was a delight to walk through. My only throwback was pricing. It was definitely out of my price range, and most items were overpriced. If you're looking for a good find and do not have price restrictions, this is a place for you.

He loves what he does, and he enjoys talking about and showing off his numerous projects. Check out the book in his shop that shows the kind of work that he's done. This man is living the dream - he's doing what he loves, with incredible attention to detail. He's not doing it for massive profits, but because he really, really loves his work. And though he's an amazing restorer, he is most enthusiastic about repurposing older pieces to fit your current lifestyle. Ask him about his pump organ projects - something that was basically broken down and unusable was repurposed into a desk with hidden cubbies and secret panels like something out of that National Treasure movie. Which led me to basically dream planning having one of this pump organs be redesigned into a goth themed vanity of my dreams. Never mind that I live in a studio. And I was SHOCKED at how low the starting price for a project like that was - seriously, he is undercharging for the kind of work he does. I am seriously considering getting rid of my couch and tv cabinet just to make room for his custom vanity with secret cubbies and hidden drawers and expandable table tops. But if you're not ready for that and are looking for someone to fix/restore/recane/refinish cherished family pieces or even fix up that flea market find, Mr. McCann is your guy. He's a freaking treasure and he's absolutely worth the drive out to visit for a consult (or even just a chat )

Iron Gate Antiques just reupholstered in recycled leather and they added a lil height lift to it because she was a low rider. It's beautiful.
