I've always wanted to stop at this antique shop every time I go to the airport. This time they were open and I had a little bit of time to go in. It was raining but I thought who cares I've always wanted to go in here so I'm going! Upon entry there are so many items in this house but they are all placed so well. It's super chic in elegant at the same time. There are so many things to look at to purchase to ask questions about. The woman working the counter was super nice which is a big plus in my book. out on the porch they have more items and then in the very back outside there's a separate building that has other items. They may well use of all of their space and it's a super cool find. So happy I stopped in for a visit and finally got to see the inside. It's a great antique shop! read more

What a great little spot! It's has a little bit of everything from Annie Sloan paint, to furniture, to china, to knickknacks. There are two floors of items and prices are sort of all over the place. I found a $5 china bowl that I purchased in a heartbeat but some other pieces were overpriced. This place could easily get claustrophobic when it's busy. There's a lot of stuff in a little bit of space. If you have mobility issues, this may not be the best place for you since there is stuff in the doorways making passage difficult and many little steps here and there. I would also recommend that you check out the outside of the store, particularly on the side. If I were looking for vintage shutters, windows, doors, or ladders I'd have scored big! read more

I used to like this place....it was fun and I never left empty handed, but then it took the "shabby chic" look a little too far shabby. Some of the stuff is now just plain falling apart junk and then they pepper in waaaay too many new, handcrafted items. Yes, I still buy, because, well, I like to buy stuff, but I am never quite as thrilled with my purchases as I used to be. I hate to even say it, but I believe there are 2 women that own this place. The one woman, a brunette, is always SO helpful, friendly and humorous. I really enjoy buying when she is behind the counter. The other woman, a frosted blonde comes across as stand-offish. I almost feel like I am Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, when the ladies at the boutique won't let her shop. I am a younger, more casually dressed person and when I walk into the store, I kid you not, she looks up from her laptop, evaluates me and goes back to what she is doing - doesn't even acknowledge! Sometimes, her little granddaughter is there, also behind the counter on her laptop and I swear, they both look up and dismiss me! ha. Funny, though... the 2 times that I have asked her for help to take my purchases to the car, she HAS helped. One time, I was driving our older Durango, that we use for hauling furniture that we purchase and she basically walked the items to the car with me and didn't even thank me or tell me to have a good day....even though I had just spent over 600.00 in her shop. The other time, I happened to be driving my new Lexus and she thanked me a couple of times and said something along the lines, of "make sure you come back soon - we have new items all the time". Really? I am up to par in this car? sniff. I was so turned off, that I now call when I plan to shop there, just to see who is working.... read more

This is the kind of place that makes me wish I had a) an apartment larger than a shoebox and b) money so I could buy All The Things. Not that it's expensive. The prices were freakishly reasonable (especially after a day-long antique tour of Northern Virginia and Maryland, where I would find some cute knick-knack priced at $300 and question all the wrong turns I took in life). The offerings are decidedly: --shabby-chic. Don't you miss that show? So formative in my decorating aesthetic. --country-lite. My cozy urban apartment could accommodate things from this store. My mother's rural lodge-y home could just as easily adapt to pieces here. My sister's retro-chic dorm room would do fine. It's just that kind of place --un-modern. "Well, duh, it's an antique store." But many antique stores, at least in DC, embrace the mod/retro 50s-60s vibe. Not here! Do not come here looking for MCM, for you will surely find it lacking. --friendly. A pleasant surprise! Visited on a whim and we were not disappointed. Eclectic and traditional pieces. Stop in!

I impulsively pulled over and drug my pensive teenage daughter inside to find these shops are filled with cleaned up and painted reclaimed pieces. I found prices on most pieces very reasonable. There was a ton of inventory creativity and primitives. Unfortunately, I didn't have the guts to purchase the Elvis lamp, but it may be just what you are looking for to finish a room. I drove a way with my van packed and my daughter chatty & excited about rearranging her bedroom with her new bedside tables. Now maybe she'll keep it clean....... read more

Stopped in today for the first time. Lady sitting at desk as I entered did not even greet me. Did not catch her name but she had blonde hair. I greeted her on the way in and out and it was obviously painful for her to acknowledge my presence. Not good customer service to say the least but guess it didn't matter since the store mostly contained overpriced items. Don't plan to return. read more

I'm glad that I finally decided to stop in here. I've been passing this place for months thinking that it was just a typical shabby chic overpriced antique shop (which it is....) but surprisingly there are so many hidden reasonably priced treasures if you just search. The best shopping trips are the unexpected ones where you find exactly what you've been looking for in the least expected places. And that's exactly what today was. The owner told me that rooms are rented out to people and that they bring in new items as often as each day. read more

Terrible customer service. Bought a dining table and they were quick to charge my card but in no hurry to let me come get it. Kept saying they would 'get around to it' and call me. No calls... Never contacted me and then they closed for 2 days. I called when they opened and they said they'd been closed and didn't get around to it... Shouldn't you be working if you have a customer waiting even if the store is closed? Terrible. Never shopping there again. read more

This is the only antique store I've found in the northern Va area that has unique finds at low prices. Last time I went I bought three beautiful pieces of pottery to decorate my dresser and hold my jewelry. The owner and employees are super friendly and helpful. I searched all over the Richmond area for an antique ladder and a friend recommended The Cottage in Leesburg. I immediately jumped in my car and drove up to see what they had! Not only did they have tons of ladders they had so many other items that were exactly my style. I love the vintage shabby chic style and I wanted to take so many things home with me from the shop. The employees were so nice with checking on the prices of the ladders I was interested in. I also purchased a few small things and they wrapped my purchase up beautifully including a bow on my bag! I love small details like that :) If you like shabby chic then you have to check them out, I plan to come back with a friend and poke around more!! read more

This place has really unique items. The Sales associate that was working at the time was so helpful and answered all of our questions; she even called the owner for us to find out the price of an item. We couldn't spend as much time as I would have like in the shop but we will definitely be back to buys lots of items for our new home. Good prices and great finds. read more

When it was run by one person the prices were much more reasonable, and she would accept 'offer's. Not really antiques...but cast offs refinished in 'shabby chic' for the most part. Service here depends on who is working that day. I spent over $1,000 one day to be told that no one there would help get the furniture from upstairs down a narrow old staircase. The woman told my husband "We are just women here, we can't move the furniture". The next day someone else recanted and told us which ever dealer owns the furniture is responsible for putting it on the back deck for pick up. Most of the stuff is junk repainted and priced high. read more

Wow, Love everything about The Cottage. This store was suggested to me by a friend. Great find. I originally went there to find a "jaw dropping piece" for my wedding. Wow. I am surprised that the other review said the one owner was not helpful. Totally different experience, every time. Not only did she show me blogs and websites and make additional suggestions, she called me, took a picture and emailed it to me after she purchased something at an auction that she knew would be perfect for me wedding. She was so right. Additionally, she made several suggestions for furniture placement in my home, colors, accent pillows and frames. She knows what she is doing and has been sooooo very helpful. Love the store, you need to go often, merchandise is replaced weekly. Worth your time. read more
