I love this store, it's my new fave in Leesburg. I always find adorable items here and the staff is friendly.

How can you not give a restored pink and green polka dot barn five stars?…read more For all future brides who dream about "rustic" weddings this is your place for inspiration. Think of it as a real life Pinterest board. This antique design house has floors upon floors of old window panes, milk glass vases, vintage cake toppers, and a carefully curated collection of fifties inspired prom dresses (perfect for a bridesmaids --if her waist is a size 16). Even if you are not headed for nuptial bliss, you can appreciate a day of antiquing in the country. No second guesses on whether or not you are buying a haunted tea cup at all, because all the pieces have been gussied up and styled for your viewing pleasure. While most restoration pieces can go for several thousand dollars or more in the District, I found On a Whim to be very reasonably priced (and this is coming from a girl whose furniture was bought at Target).

Went to :On A Whim" to check things out. I was only able to check out one building, which was the main one, when you first entered the parking lot. It is 2 stories and filled with treasures. It was a delight to walk through. My only throwback was pricing. It was definitely out of my price range, and most items were overpriced. If you're looking for a good find and do not have price restrictions, this is a place for you.

Exterior of shop - on the other side of lot is Hummingbird's Nest, a true antiques place. Then 1 mi down Luckett's Store - go!

My daughter had a ring from her Mom with an emerald and 9 of 10 surviving diamond chips, and she…read morewears silver rather than the gold of this ring. A local chain jeweler offered to reset the stones in a new ring, doing what they could to preserve its character. Their estimate seemed a little pricey, though, but what did I know? Although my daughter preferred retaining as much of the ring as possible for sentimental reasons, she was open to doing this. Guided by positive reviews about jewelry restoration, we then visited family-owned White & Ivory Diamonds and Fine Jewelry in the Village at Leesburg. A daughter, Alina, greeted us. She was delightful to work with, asking questions about what would be important to us and coming up with some creative strategies. Alina suggested keeping the setting and the ring itself while strengthening it. It seemed ideal, so we put half down and let them do it. They did the work within the estimated time, communicating regularly via phone text, and I felt optimistic the whole time. They preserved and modified the setting to display eight of the diamond chips and kept the original clamps that had held fast all these years. The "odd" diamond went into a recessed hole on the inside of the ring - a hidden jewel! They reinforced the lower part of the ring so it would last and could be resized and plated the whole thing with white gold. The best part was it cost half what the chain estimated. I'm sure the chain would have done a fine job, but my daughter couldn't be happier with White and Ivory's creative craft work. We're so glad we gave them a shot!

That emerald hasn't been so bright and clear for years. The little diamonds now sparkle in the sun.

This is the original setting transformed into white gold while having been modified ever so slightly to account for the missing diamond.
