Yummm - chocolate lava cake
R. C.

It's a nice restaurant, went on a Wednesday at 6pm, they seated us near the window (not against the window), so still a nice view, until the sun came shining on my face! Needed to scoot myself over to avoid it! Food was generally OK. I had the 10oz prime rib, medium rare. It looked like it was cooked just right, just expected it to be a little more tender. Hubby had blackened salmon and loaded potato, he thought both were just OK. What was really delicious was the side order of Asian green beans! And, finally, we also enjoyed the chocolate lava cake. Our server, Tess, was great. We had $90 of gift cards from a timeshare presentation to use, just needed to kick in a little mor

Driven past this place multiple times but finally got the chance to eat here for a business meeting. They had a set menu we could choose from. Started with Cesar salad. I got prime rib with mashed potatoes and my friend for the Baja salmon with shrimp and rice. Everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. Got creme brulee and cheesecake for dessert. It said it was supposed to be served with raspberries but they ran out so they gave us a side of blackberries instead. Service was great! Would eat here again

We come for their happy hour every time we come to south lake tahoe. Food is great and reasonably priced. Happy hour is 4-6 but you can't make a rez and is only offered in a limited space. If you want the tables with a view during sunset you have to get there before 4!

We've been going to this location for many years and I have to say that they were either having an off day or their quality has taken a deep dive. Our food lacked luster. The prime rib was warmed over (definitely wouldn't expect that from this location). My husbands pasta sauce was flavorless as was the salad dressing. Our server wasn't attentive so we never ordered our second drink. Barely came to check on us, the service was slow and we had to box our own leftovers. We never saw a manager that night. Not sure if the views are worth the food anymore.

Parking can get tough on busy nights. We grabbed a spot in the lower lot. Happily we had a reservation. Wait staff was efficient and friendly. We had the halibut which received rave reviews. Two in our party had the filet mignon. I sampled a taste and the meat was perfectly cooked. I had the lamb chops which were ample and delicious. Was hoping for a lake view as requested. Unfortunately with the rush of patrons we ended up in a tucked away alcove. Delicious happy hour is served only in the bar area. We've done this on previous visits and they have lots of tasty bites.

Visited at 7:45 on a Tuesday without a reservation. Stood at the hostess stand for 5 minutes or so with no acknowledgment. Started wandering around looking for an employee or to sit in the bar. Bar was untended. Got a server to seat us. Super nice server, food was good. Spinach salad was delicious as was the clam chowder. I had the coconut shrimp hubby had the miso black cod. The mojito sampler was terrible. Too much syrup, no crushed ice, no soda water, mint or garnish. The Basil Yuzo and Chocolate Soufflé drinks were yummy.

I was a bit concerned with some of the reviews, but after our dining experience, Id definitely return and recommend to friends and family. Our server Megan was the sweetest, kindest most attentive staff member and really helped make our evening special. The front of house staff a young woman with dark hair was very welcoming and the view of the lake was phenomenal. My boyfriend got the prime rib with garlic mashed potatoes and I got the chicken sous vide with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus, we also opted to start off with coconut shrimp and lobster bisque. We finished with the lava cake and they gave him a complimentary mudslide ice cream cake for his birthday, we shared our desserts and they were both incredible. Overall a lovely dining experience with top notch atmosphere, service and food. We will most definitely be back.

I came here with a group of 6 for dinner on vacation. We made an 8pm reservation on a Saturday night and there was absolutely no wait time to get seated. Our table was very crammed and not sturdy as the extension pieces on the top were loose. The ambiance is cute, dress up or down and I'm sure it's a lovely view when it's still light out. The food itself was amazing, though is was cold when it came out. Our waitress Megan was so kind to switch my dish out to a fresh one, which I appreciated. I'd definitely come back for a regular dinner next time I'm in Tahoe.

Complementary bread (this was served fresh and warm that adding butter was perfect!)

Don't get me wrong for giving it a 3, but I think customer service is poor given that it is a fine restaurant with a great view of the lake and potentially the sunset if you get lucky to be seated in front, or by the glass window. We didn't have any uncomfortable experience. However, people at the front desk are quite snobbish. From my perspective, as a customer, I would always want to feel welcomed. Our server, Ms. Lani is a nice lady but I cannot say the same thing for the rest. I understand that it is busy but I don't think that should be a reasonable excuse since this is a food business. Additionally, the food isn't that great either. My fillet mignon steak (medium rare) was dry. The drinks tasted bland and sugary to the point that you could not taste even an inch of the alcohol. Bathroom is clean and the restaurant's atmosphere is intimate. Complimentary bread*

View of the lake approaching sunset

A nice upscale option. I'm assuming people come primarily for the view. Our concierge got us a 6:15 reservation so that we would have a prime sunset view. The hostess really did not want to give us a window table despite several being available, so we sat in a booth on the second level. (Still had a nice view, but...) The meal was excellent and service was fast. Gabriel, our server took good care of us. Other than having to choose not to argue with the hostess, my biggest complaint was the bread; it was less than underwhelming. No reason they can't do better.

Came here on a recent trip to Tahoe for a nice dinner with a large group. It is considered to be more of an upscale restaurant in the area and the interior is quite nice. However, I thought the food was just so-so, nothing really stood out to me about the flavors in the dishes. They were decent, but not good enough to justify the price point to be honest. More thought could be put into the composition and flavors of the dishes.

great options made well, but they did forget stuff on my order like the carrots on my lamb chops, the chart your own course is a good deal, service was nice and got a birthday mud pie would've been a nice view for sunset but we got there late, highly recommend booth seating!

Torched apple Manhattan ($26) and butterfly effect ($20)
Sandee L.

Wow! At 4:30pm on a Saturday, this place was packed! Glad I booked this instead of the 7:45pm available on OpenTable so we could see the sun set over the lake. What a view! We started off with a couple libations: the torched apple Manhattan and the butterfly effect, made tableside which had all the bells and whistles. At $26 and $20 respectively, they better bring it. 4/5 Four of the mussels in our starter were shut tight indicating there could be better quality control in the kitchen. In retrospect, some were a bit off tasting too. 2.5/5 The crispy ahi bites cleared our sinuses with the raw jalapeño and the wasabi sauce. The presentation was very nice and we enjoyed this after getting over the spicy shock. 4/5 My prime rib was well marbled throughout and cooked a perfect medium rare. The accompanying mashed potatoes were also good. 4/5 The side of sautéed mushrooms was superb! I would definitely go with the large next time. 5/5 My fiancé got the sea bass which was a very good sized portion with the addition of the lobster risotto. Cooked well, a very rich decadent dish. 4/5 Our service was very good. We were checked in on server times by several staff snd left wanting nothing. At $250 for 2 (including tip), this is a bit of a splurge. We want to come back and check out their happy hour Monday through Friday 4-6pm!

Decent food -- good enough -- paired with a nice setting and a classy-but-dated ambiance.

Super super low quality. Ordered 14oz prime rib steak and the meat quality was horrible. Such a rip off. Wouldnt recommend it at all.

Great food, great service, and what a view. Go early if you want a space for happy hour, it was full so we just had to go to our table.

Cocktail menu looked fun. Our server was very friendly and attentive and helped with packing our leftovers and giving us fresh bread! For the food, the star is the prime rib cut steak. It was cooked extremely well with great seasoning. The red crab appetizer was a surprisingly good portion but it was partially still frozen, so was the beef carpaccio. If those hadn't been, would've been quite an excellent meal! would go back for the steak

JWB Prime Steak & Seafood -- Dinner Review…read more We had such a beautiful dinner experience at JWB Prime Steak & Seafood. From the moment we sat down, everything felt special and well taken care of. We started the night with cocktails with Ann, who was absolutely great--friendly, attentive, and made the perfect start to our evening. For dinner, we ordered a delicious Caesar salad, and for sides we shared the truffle mac and cheese, potatoes au gratin, and asparagus--every single one was rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Our main was the Prime Bone Rib Eye, which was tender, juicy, and cooked just right. Juju had the kids burger and fries and completely demolished it--always the best sign! To top it all off, they provided us with a complimentary anniversary lava cake and sparkling wine, which made the night feel even more special. Our server Donna was so wonderful and gracious--she truly made the experience unforgettable. Amazing food, amazing service, and an unforgettable anniversary dinner. We can't wait to come back!
