Reviews are pointless. Read them for ANY product on Amazon as proof…read more Here you have two, prior to this one of mine. One is from an apparent local resident who has trouble locating specific items in a produce section that measures perhaps 900 square feet. Regardless of how annoyingly random the placement of these goods may be, this rant doesn't offer much help to new shoppers, being more of a fatigue-induced gripe than a thoughtful and inclusive evaluation. The other, newer 'review' is ostensibly from a Manhattanite -- perchance one of our oft-legitimately easy-to-dislike rude 'weekenders' -- extolling the virtues of a grocery store as if it's the first of its kind with a frozen foods section in the 1930s-era Deep South. Nothing new about the basics of this Price Chopper, but it gives the reviewer a chance to meet his need to be heard. I, however, am primarily writing out of my growing discontent with people in general, while the store isn't perfect by any standard, either. The best combined feature of shopping at this store is the AdvantEdge card and the Rewards program, which does net some substantial grocery savings and satisfying if not life-altering per-gallon discounts at a participating Sunoco gas station. I, too, have complained about produce issues here. My words either fell on deaf ears, or if they were heeded and shared, they didn't effect any change. I occasionally shake my head when I see a servile manager obsequiously or sheepishly submitting to a didactic lecture that's coming from a gesturing, young corporate drone who has a college degree and a position but probably hasn't had a day of retail store experience in his or her life. I was neutral about the store's construction a few years back, but I knew it was going to happen despite any and all local protest. I was dismayed but not surprised by the failure to return to the shelves some great items that were discontinued at the old store but promised to appear again in the new store, in both instances reportedly due to the matter of available space. Good store. If you're used to Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, or some other leading-edge chain, you might walk through the door with expectations that will be shorted. However, with a floral section, deli, prepared foods counter and dining court, seafood and meat departments with day-fresh display cases, you should be able to leave with some decent savings and a suitable array of groceries, whether you're entertaining people from the board of the Guggenheim or feeding a local family.

Food was reasonably priced. Place is clean, bathrooms are very clean. Pharmacy, service counter and cashiers are kind and compassionate. Let's not forget about the people that stock the shelves or the venders that stock their own products, at first you never hear what is on the shelf is what we got, they actually go look before they say those words that everyone hates to hear. I would have given 5 stars but the departments that are mentioned above need attitude adjustments then maybe I'll change to 5 stars.

We love the selection of EVERYTHING at the GB Guido's location, and appreciate having access to so…read moremany local vendors in one place, though the prices are not cheap. To save a few dollars, we typically purchase widely-available staples/packaged goods at the Big Y next door, then head over to Guido's for specialty items only. We are not particular fans of the cafe items, however, which we've tried when we wanted to eat breakfast before shopping - wrapped breakfast sandwiches in the cafe steamtable have been greasy or generally odd-tasting (I'm looking at you, weird crumbly breakfast biscuit), and the few times we've ordered milk-based hot coffee drinks, they've been burned. Moving forward, we'll skip the cafe when we shop. Though the parking lot in the GB location is MUCH more manageable than the crazy parking lot at the Lenox location - which makes it worth the drive to GB alone...

Wine and liquor selection is excellent and while the prices are higher than those in most supermarkets, the quality and choice are worth it. Service is excellent; their cheese selection is breathtaking, and their prepared foods are far more interesting than any I have seen elsewhere! I could say more -- but urge you to see for yourself.

Best deli sandwhiches in the area no question about it. They come packed full of fresh Ingrediants…read more You can customize what you want with the sandwhich slips, makes it very easy and straightforward. Just don't use your phone at the counter out of respect for the individuals that run the store. A lot of snacks and healthy farm foods but they are very pricey. Wow, I never thought I would write a negative review for this establishment. It disheartens me so…read moremuch especially as a long-term customer, small store supporter, and tolerant of all faiths. That changed today when the female proprietor accused me of stealing. Several times she asked me if I needed something before following me to the back of the store to ask me again. Her reasoning was "I was returning to the same spot several times" -- it was twice (I couldn't decided which size ziplock bags I needed). Both my partner and I felt very uncomfortable and decided to put our items back and leave. The female proprietor followed outside to say we could still shop there. I responded she made us feel unwelcome and we left. About 20 minutes later, I returned to discuss the situation with the female proprietor. I had been shopping at the general store for 4 years- and honestly didn't want to stop shopping there. When I walked in, I asked the female proprietor if we could talk about the situation, her response: "I'm standing right here." I started by saying how long I've been shopping at the store and always enjoyed my experience. Today, it felt different and I felt very unwelcome. You know when someone already has their mind made up and nothing you can say changes it? That was this situation. The female proprietor said that she was just checking in and did nothing wrong. When I responded that it felt like she was insinuating I was stealing, her response was "I'm sorry you felt that way." Which everyone know is the screw you of apologies. The conversation continued to go round and round, until I finally said that it seemed like she didn't want to take ownership and that I didn't feel comfortable shopping there anymore. Her response? "That's fine, we have plenty of other customers. We don't need ones like you." Just to clarify - wasn't stealing nor would every. Full disclosure, this is where I (hopefully understandably) got very frustrated and said I was going to tell people of the experience. It was then that another female worker told me to get out, followed by the female proprietor saying the same thing. I left the building, and slammed the door - which I shouldn't have. I honestly have never been treated with such disrespect before. It was overwhelming. When I got to the car (visibly upset) my partner then went in to the store. While I was not there, the gist of the situation was he was greeted with the same disrespect and after more conversation, was told to "leave or we will call the sheriff." For two people who were just trying to patron a local store, this was a terrible situation. I understand that shoplifting is a problem there -they had signs everywhere. Which ironically minutes before this happened, I said to my partner "who would ever steal from a local store like this?" To be treated with such disrespect is so disappointing. After 4 years of shopping here, they have made it very clear - people like me (who was just trying to get a few items, and said she felt uncomfortable by their actions) were told never to return. Hopefully this does not happen to you.
