Just read other reviews here, and I have to say, I object!! to the criticisms…read more Disclaimer: I am a member (which, as another reviewer has pointed out, does only have limited benefits), but I'm NOT employed or otherwise closely connected to employees. The Co-op has its issues, as any small business will, BUT it is so authentically and sincerely committed to providing local, wholesome food at a price they can afford to sell it at, that I absolutely cannot fault them, and will buy from them whenever I can. I do think they sometimes mis-price items, but they're working on it. (I should point out that this can go both ways -- high or low. I tell them whenever I think something seems really out of whack.) The problem is that they're competing against behemoths like Price Chopper who can negotiate lower prices with producers and wholesalers -- and then, when they drive places like the Co-op out of business, offer us whatever they like AND price it however they like.... Please support them! Offer criticism! Take advantage of the MANY community events they offer!

Reviews are pointless. Read them for ANY product on Amazon as proof…read more Here you have two, prior to this one of mine. One is from an apparent local resident who has trouble locating specific items in a produce section that measures perhaps 900 square feet. Regardless of how annoyingly random the placement of these goods may be, this rant doesn't offer much help to new shoppers, being more of a fatigue-induced gripe than a thoughtful and inclusive evaluation. The other, newer 'review' is ostensibly from a Manhattanite -- perchance one of our oft-legitimately easy-to-dislike rude 'weekenders' -- extolling the virtues of a grocery store as if it's the first of its kind with a frozen foods section in the 1930s-era Deep South. Nothing new about the basics of this Price Chopper, but it gives the reviewer a chance to meet his need to be heard. I, however, am primarily writing out of my growing discontent with people in general, while the store isn't perfect by any standard, either. The best combined feature of shopping at this store is the AdvantEdge card and the Rewards program, which does net some substantial grocery savings and satisfying if not life-altering per-gallon discounts at a participating Sunoco gas station. I, too, have complained about produce issues here. My words either fell on deaf ears, or if they were heeded and shared, they didn't effect any change. I occasionally shake my head when I see a servile manager obsequiously or sheepishly submitting to a didactic lecture that's coming from a gesturing, young corporate drone who has a college degree and a position but probably hasn't had a day of retail store experience in his or her life. I was neutral about the store's construction a few years back, but I knew it was going to happen despite any and all local protest. I was dismayed but not surprised by the failure to return to the shelves some great items that were discontinued at the old store but promised to appear again in the new store, in both instances reportedly due to the matter of available space. Good store. If you're used to Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, or some other leading-edge chain, you might walk through the door with expectations that will be shorted. However, with a floral section, deli, prepared foods counter and dining court, seafood and meat departments with day-fresh display cases, you should be able to leave with some decent savings and a suitable array of groceries, whether you're entertaining people from the board of the Guggenheim or feeding a local family.

Food was reasonably priced. Place is clean, bathrooms are very clean. It seems if you need service…read morefrom deli, bakery, seafood or meat departments they tend to be little upset because you're asking questions about products or you need products that you can't get to yourself. Pharmacy, service counter and cashiers are kind and compassionate. Let's not forget about the people that stock the shelves or the venders that stock their own products, at first you never hear what is on the shelf is what we got, they actually go look before they say those words that everyone hates to hear. I would have given 5 stars but the departments that are mentioned above need attitude adjustments then maybe I'll change to 5 stars.

"Surprise" is the word of the day for this store/review. I was first surprised, about a year ago,…read moreto learn that The Happy Clown had closed. I shall miss their ice cream, it probably would have made my ice cream list. I was next surprised when I saw that a Hannaford would go in this site, because it did not seem like a large enough plot of land. Once the store finally opened, I was again surprised to see it was constantly busy. After having visited today, I can see why. Next surprise - Google Maps gets the location wrong, it's not next to Bell Pond, it's just south of the traffic light where US 9, NY 82, NY 23 and NY 9H converge. Also, while the address of the store - as per the receipt - says it's in Hudson, the Hannaford website calls it the Hannaford Livingston store. I think part of the reason this store is popular is because it ISN'T a superstore. Its size is more reminiscent of a good-sized grocery store before all kinds of specialty stations were thrown in. It's very well organized, no space is wasted. I would say the only "luxury" item in the store is the olive bar. It really did remind me of an "old-school" supermarket, and I bet a lot of people like that. Though being a somewhat smaller store, there were 1 or 2 specialty items I could not find that I can find at larger Hannafords, and there are no self-service checkouts. My final surprise was learning the traffic patterns, and evidently they had to "make do" with some awkwardness due to the relatively small plot of land. It seems you can only enter or exit conveniently from US 9 northbound or NY 82 southbound, otherwise you have to turn at the traffic light to the north and enter from the proper direction, or make use of Proper Rd. just to the south.

They have great produce, meat, and dairy sections, which are almost always fresh and well-stocked. They also have a generously sized organic section, where I get my soy- and almond milk (can't get them anywhere else). The other day, I found a favorite of mine (soy yogurt) out of stock, and looking like it was being discontinued. I filled out a comment card, and I just got a call today, saying that the item is just back-ordered. Very surprised that I got a personal answer, straight from the assistant store manager.

The people are very friendly and everything seems to work like clockwork as far as getting things done and taken care of. I always feel at home when I shop there, which is kind of unusual for me, because shopping isn't really my favorite pastime. This Hannaford makes it easier to maneuver around. Everything is easy to find there and always fresh. Even the grocery packing as you cash out is fantastic. Well done!
