Reviews are pointless. Read them for ANY product on Amazon as proof. Here you have two, prior to this one of mine. One is from an apparent local resident who has trouble locating specific items in a produce section that measures perhaps 900 square feet. Regardless of how annoyingly random the placement of these goods may be, this rant doesn't offer much help to new shoppers, being more of a fatigue-induced gripe than a thoughtful and inclusive evaluation. The other, newer 'review' is ostensibly from a Manhattanite -- perchance one of our oft-legitimately easy-to-dislike rude 'weekenders' -- extolling the virtues of a grocery store as if it's the first of its kind with a frozen foods section in the 1930s-era Deep South. Nothing new about the basics of this Price Chopper, but it gives the reviewer a chance to meet his need to be heard. I, however, am primarily writing out of my growing discontent with people in general, while the store isn't perfect by any standard, either. The best combined feature of shopping at this store is the AdvantEdge card and the Rewards program, which does net some substantial grocery savings and satisfying if not life-altering per-gallon discounts at a participating Sunoco gas station. I, too, have complained about produce issues here. My words either fell on deaf ears, or if they were heeded and shared, they didn't effect any change. I occasionally shake my head when I see a servile manager obsequiously or sheepishly submitting to a didactic lecture that's coming from a gesturing, young corporate drone who has a college degree and a position but probably hasn't had a day of retail store experience in his or her life. I was neutral about the store's construction a few years back, but I knew it was going to happen despite any and all local protest. I was dismayed but not surprised by the failure to return to the shelves some great items that were discontinued at the old store but promised to appear again in the new store, in both instances reportedly due to the matter of available space. Good store. If you're used to Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, or some other leading-edge chain, you might walk through the door with expectations that will be shorted. However, with a floral section, deli, prepared foods counter and dining court, seafood and meat departments with day-fresh display cases, you should be able to leave with some decent savings and a suitable array of groceries, whether you're entertaining people from the board of the Guggenheim or feeding a local family. read more

Food was reasonably priced. Place is clean, bathrooms are very clean. It seems if you need service from deli, bakery, seafood or meat departments they tend to be little upset because you're asking questions about products or you need products that you can't get to yourself. Pharmacy, service counter and cashiers are kind and compassionate. Let's not forget about the people that stock the shelves or the venders that stock their own products, at first you never hear what is on the shelf is what we got, they actually go look before they say those words that everyone hates to hear. I would have given 5 stars but the departments that are mentioned above need attitude adjustments then maybe I'll change to 5 stars. read more

Handy that this store is right down the street. I like the convenience of being there within a very short drive. This is especially helpful when I am short on time or the weather is not very good outside and not recommended for driving. And there is always plenty of parking. read more

Here's a special update on this dump. I ordered a whipped cream cake for my wife's birthday. Their cakes were always excellent, so there was no reason to expect otherwise. When I went to pick it up, it was handed off to me you could see it was obviously mishandled and damaged. I assume the clerk hoped I wouldn't notice, but Stevie Wonder couldn't miss it. I immediately asked for it to be fixed, after a heartfelt WTF!!!. Of course, no one who could fix it was there. Once again, I had to speak to a manager, who offered it me at half off. I told him he could keep it, and started walking out. He chased after me out of the store, and gave it to me gratis. I got it home, and made it look at least acceptable. As far as Lice Plopper is concerned, I am 100% done. read more

The management doesn't care about the local community. produce is often spoiled and non existent. Many empty shelves. Prices are high. Sneaky merchandising so you can't find items - they keep moving them. Frequently out of the most normal items from meats to grocery. The store cannot order what you need. The produce area looks dirty along with the rotten produce. Cheeses are c r a p p y. No choice for fresh meat, most of it is factory processed and packed. Individual store has zero control over what comes in and they don't even know what they are getting until the truck arrives!!!! It's a shame because it's a good location to do good business. Everyone goes to stop & shop; hannaford; whole foods in albany (which is cheaper!); local food sources. A waste with nice people who want to help but can't because price chopper machine controls the aisles - also with outside jobbers mostly. read more

I very rarely write reviews, but felt the need to inform the public of the ridiculous, lackadaisical service at this store. Yes, I am a "downstater", LI not Manhattan, BUT should this really change anything? I have been living in Chatham for about 6 years and this store is an absolute joke...the employees are clueless, or just don't give a s**t, most products are terrible and the icing on the cake is the bottle return area...I don't know how many times I've went here to return some bottles and they have multiple machines full or out of order!! I was just there tonight, unloaded all my returns into a cart, all set to go, only to find out that the return machines were full or out of order and the guy responsible, was like "hey not my fault!", waited 10 minutes for the manager, just to tell me, sorry nothing we can do about it tonight...SERIOUSELY!! Management is completely inept and the employees all have terrible attitudes, or are too busy on their phones, This company needs to work on their customer service and get their shit together!! I will no longer give my money to these charlatans and will be taking the drive to Hannaford's for now on!! read more

This Is the worst supermarket in the area. Expect long, slow lines to check out. Expect spoiled produce. Whatever you want, they probably don't have it. I bought lobster and not only did they forget to put the price on, but it leaked all over my car. I wanted a flu shot, but they told me I'd have to wait 20 minutes. read more

Well i hate to give one star, but i am so tired, literally, of constantly searching for the fresh produce I want because they change the location every week. The staff apologises but says they have to follow management's rules. Many customers complain about this ridiculous procedure. I usually end up just leaving the store in frustration. Oh and since we cant find anything, no one buys it and it gets eliminated.....just go to Hannaford and keep your sanity read more

Price Chopper played both Chatham and Ghent to get this albatross of a market approved. The older one, smaller by far, was a better deal. The bakery is the only part of this store that is remotely commendable. It's all about management, the one time I called to complain about being humiliated at check out for a few cents the response was short of a patronizing 'sorryboutthat.' Too bad, the locals who work here, forget the shoppers, deserve so much better. Why 2 stars instead of one? Poorly run market is at least better than no market. Should be a company logo. read more
