Long overdue review! Let me first say that if you are looking for a planner with an appreciation for details, a creative eye for design who is bold and not afraid to try new things - then Frances is the best pick for you! Last April, my husband (fiancé at the time) and I were searching for a full time wedding planner and we came across Charmed Events Group. The main reason why we decided to go with Frances were a couple of things: 1) her strong background in design 2) her IG portfolio (I fell in love with one of the Villa Montalvo weddings she did!) and most importantly, 3) the fact that she was able to just get us and understand what we were looking for. We wanted to create a certain style and feel to our wedding, and Frances and her team captured our vision so beautifully, they literally brought our Pinterest board to life!! Frances did so many things for us that my husband and I are forever grateful for! She helped us find our dream wedding venue, which amazingly turned out to be only 5-10 minutes away from where we lived! In addition, she also helped us connect with so many amazing vendors including: Jasmine Lee Photography, Poppy's Petalworks, Blushtype Calligraphy, Fantasy Sound and Events and lastly, Le's Kitchen. Throughout the night, we received praise for the professionalism and extraordinary work of our vendors, and it was all thanks to Frances for she guided us throughout the entire process, and helped us stay on track and create our vision for the big day. She also helped us design our wedding invitations and stationary, which were so gorgeous!! Frances is also very thoughtful sweet!! We received several care packages from her throughout the year which included a bottle of wine, scented candles, personalized agate memento as well as congratulatory flowers to celebrate when we were legally wed! The best thing about working with Frances is that she has such a big heart and honestly cares about each of her clients. We admire how Frances goes above and beyond to create an extraordinary experience and journey for her couples and isn't one to recycle ideas again for use. We are so glad to have shared this special experience with Frances, as we feel that she has become one of our friends who we can casually talk to about fruit picking, share travel tips and bring little gifts for one another - just because :) Without a doubt, we highly recommend Frances to help plan your wedding or any major life event that you want to celebrate with style and design! We definitely look forward to seeking Frances' services that anything that needs a keen eye for design!! Thank YOU for everything, Frances!! You made our wedding one of the best days of our lived and we are forever grateful for you and our friendship!!

This is a long overdue review. My husband and I just attended a friend's wedding yesterday. As guests this time we saw all the hard work in their wedding's planning and execution which reminded us of our own wedding back in May 2015. Even today we still felt fortunate that we had Frances helped us with the planning and execution of the wedding. We started our search of wedding planner in Nov 2014. I called a few the Yelp high rating planners, and Frances was the only one that offered differentiated pricing for small wedding (50 ppl or less). She also speaks Mandarin which was what we wanted since both sides of the families and guests were Chinese. We then met with her and discussed more details. We had some basic ideas and were not picky on the details, but we did want to keep the cost down. From there Frances started with venue selection and helped to secure a perfect venue that met all our needs at a low price. Through the next 6 months we communicated via Email, Pinterest and Google doc. It really saved us time and effort - after a whole day work we could stay at home and do all the planning in front of the laptop. Through the planning process Frances really listened to our requests and suggested vendors based on our needs. She also designed all the stationery and the flowers at reasonable price. Not only did they all looked beautiful, it also helped us to keep the cost down. On the wedding day, Frances and her team really delivered and executed. All the decorations were artistically done based on our preference. All my close friends attended the wedding said they could tell from details that everything was specially made for us. The flow and schedule went through perfectly. Both of us and our guests "WOW"ed for how the wedding turned out! Overall, Charmed Events delivered a perfect small and intimate wedding exactly as what we asked. Thank you Frances! :)

I just had my wedding about a week or so ago with about 160 people, and I really think hiring Frances was probably the best decision I made. We got the full service planning package and hired her around April/May 2016 before we even found a venue. In the beginning, my husband was not totally sold about getting a planner, but with over a year of working together, even he agreed it was all worth it, and she definitely surpassed our expectations. Initially I was choosing between two people; Both had great reviews, but I had heard from several unrelated people that Frances was the best, and that her artistic eye and beautiful designs were top-notch and unparalleled. I had heard that some of the weddings she had done were featured in magazines and wedding blogs, so although she was slightly more expensive, we ultimately chose her because of the design aspect. In the beginning there were small things here and there that worried me; I know Frances is really busy and so sometimes she did not respond as promptly as I had liked, but I mentioned this to her, and she apologized and explained, and thereafter, she definitely communicated in a way that we discussed to help alleviate some of the stress I had. As time went on, I really grew to trust her and realized that as a new bride, I was self inducing a lot more stress than necessary because I just did not understand what needed to get done. She was always cool, collected, and reassuring when I was stressed or lagged with some decisions, and regardless of whether or not I thought I knew what still had to be accomplished, at the end our wedding day was perfect. The planning part was made super easy with how organized everything was in our shared google docs. I saw Frances working on stuff in the google doc in real time, and we were always reminded which sections to finish by which dates which helped me keep track of everything. It's really easy to communicate with Frances. I love that she is direct, and that I can also be direct with her. Whether I'm voicing a concern about time, my opinions about designs or budget, Frances always responds in a professional and positive manner, and constantly seeks to solve the problem. I was super upset and stressed out about a week before the wedding when we found out that there was an issue with a vendor and our venue. Frances cut to the chase and let us know ASAP, didn't shift blame, and we worked out a solution that didn't lose us any money when we originally thought we would forfeit a $750 deposit. I think we actually ended up saving money from this mishap. The best part of working with Frances is her artistic design. I had worried that with a wedding planner, it wouldn't feel like this would be me and my husband's wedding, but more about what the wedding planner wanted for our wedding. But, I feel like we were able to collaborate to create something that used her expertise while infusing my husband and my personalities, and we had so much feedback about how our wedding just seemed so "US." What I also loved was that we had parts of our wedding that were super unique and NOT cliche. With her suggestions, I had some budget concerns, where I asked her which were the must-haves and which ones were not as important. (Do I shell out the extra $ for nice chairs or better draping? I went with the chairs and don't regret it at all!) We always worked out something that I could afford but still looked beautiful. I feel like at the end, my wedding looked as if I had spent so much more on it than I actually did. Everyone was wowed by our floral design that I know she worked with our florist to accomplish. And, our reception room was just amazing. Maybe I'm biased, but I really think my own wedding was the most beautiful wedding I've ever been to. Even though my husband was a bit skeptical at first about how everything would look, he said that he was absolutely floored at how amazing everything turned out. The things Frances really advocated for were all worth it, SO TRUST HER! Plus, the designing process was really fun! On the day of, everything went smoothly. Were there little things here and there? Yes, but I don't think it was Frances fault. We were supposed to use our floral arch from the ceremony as a backdrop for our sweetheart table, but the arch couldn't fit in the door, and I was informed first thing in the morning. Was there a small scare about the money box? Yes, but actually Frances's team had already put everything away. I had several guests mention that they appreciated having people guide them to where they were supposed to go, and so the flow of the wedding and our already compact time schedule went off perfectly. Everyone important got to enjoy our wedding to the fullest because Frances took care of everything and I never had to worry! I would highly recommend Frances and Charmed to anyone looking to have a wedding that will blow their guests out of the water. Thanks Frances! :)

I've worked with Frances many times before I was engaged, so when it came to my own wedding, there wasn't much doubt that she would also plan my own wedding. Firstly, I've been in the wedding industry as a makeup artist for 10+ years and I have yet to see Frances plan an ugly wedding. It simply doesn't exist. I knew that I wanted something that was unique and beautiful for my wedding and Frances with her fashionable sense of taste, would be able to make that happen. Now, having gone through the wedding process myself, I tell ALL my brides -HIRE A PLANNER! Time and time again, I'll hear my brides tell me that they're stressed and exhausted by having a 'second job aka wedding planning' on top of their day job. I am thankful I never had to deal with that because I left it to the professionals. I didn't want to be digging up inspirations, picking my own rentals etc. I have issues choosing a favorite in general so it was awesome when Frances set up meetings for us to go over my preferences and then selected 4-5 top options for me to go over. I would give her feed back and she would help me make those things happen! Frances and her team really made our dreams come true. My husband was not involved at all for the wedding planning so he was blown away by how beautiful everything was! We have had so many compliments and feedback about how stunning everything looked and their only compliant was that it wasn't longer. That is truly how much everyone enjoyed the wedding. I'm so thankful that Frances was able to be part of my dream team!!

As a designer myself, I had a good idea of what I wanted my wedding mandap to look like. I also knew I wanted a larger mandap, which is sometimes hard to come by. Satvir was open to feedback and had a large rustic 10x12 mandap her team had built. It had nice large wooden beams and worked perfectly with our venue. I wanted bright florals that felt full and satvir delivered. I was very happy with how the final product turned out. She also dealt with all the crazy SF rules including zip tying all the chairs together and getting the fire permit which was required by the city. This was such a stress relief for us since we didn't know how to handle all the rules and regulations. In addition, something I really value about Satvir's approach is how she reuses florals. It pains me to see how much flowers are wasted at weddings, and I wanted a more sustainable approach. The florals from our mandap were reused for our reception and satvir touched them up and made them look beautiful. None of our guests even noticed they were the same florals. I loved the fact that we didn't waste flowers and everything was gorgeous. She also managed to do this in a very tight timeline and killed it!! Highly recommend satvir, you will not regret it.

I debated writing this review, but I felt compelled to share our experience. This review is not to…read moreslander Queen Bridals in any way, but to offer honest feedback that may encourage some reflection. Like many couples, we approached our wedding with excitement. A friend referred us to Vicky, and we didn't think twice. In hindsight, perhaps we should have done more research, but we are easygoing people. We communicated our vision, gave Vicky creative freedom, and trusted her as a professional. We weren't difficult. We asked for something simple, elegant, and meaningful. Instead, we experienced stress, embarrassment, and disappointment. In the weeks leading up to the wedding, Vicky voiced concerns that our venue, Koi Palace, was too small. We reassured her we had attended several beautiful weddings there ourselves, space doesn't seem to be an issue. While she eventually said she'd make it work, her lingering doubt was noticeable. On the day of the wedding, I arrived at the venue at 5:20 PM and found our guests waiting outside due to the venue not being ready. Inside, I observed Vicky and her team still working and did not wrap up until 6:00 PM, the scheduled start time of our reception. Later, Vicky insisted she had finished by 5:30 PM and had time to mingle with our vendors, but that version didn't align with what I witnessed or what our vendors shared. The most heartbreaking part came when my wife and I stood before the photo backdrop to take pictures with our guests. Instead of our correct monogram, the backdrop displayed the letters "V & A," despite my wife's name starting with a "J". Our guests noticed and pointed it out. We were stunned. To us, this wasn't a minor mistake, it was a glaring and deeply embarrassing moment. We ended up removing the initials ourselves. Even then, we didn't lash out. We waited, hoping Vicky might follow up to ask how the day went. She didn't. Two days later, I reached out and met with Vicky in person. I calmly asked how she thought the event went. She indicated everything went great and didn't recall any issues. When I showed her a photo of the incorrect initials, she looked at it without immediately recognizing the mistake. Only after I pointed it out did she acknowledged it and offered to Photoshop the images as a solution. That moment was disheartening. It showed a lack of understanding of what her role meant to us. This wasn't about a photo, it was about how we felt in a moment that can't be edited. It was about getting the basics right on a day that only happens once. After expressing our disappointment, we asked Vicky for a 30 percent refund. Not out of spite or anger, but because we truly felt the value of the service fell short of what was promised. The emotional weight of her error left an unsavory impact throughout our evening. We didn't demand the refund on the spot. I encouraged her to sleep on it and consider our perspective, to put herself in our shoes. She appreciated how non-confrontational we were and ultimately verbally agreed to the refund via Zelle. Three days went by. Nothing. I followed up with a message. No response. Eventually, Vicky replied and asked to speak. During our conversation, she reversed course and said she no longer felt the refund was warranted. She maintained the decor had been finished well before 6:00 PM and sent us a video of guests taking their seats at 6:01 PM, which only confirmed she or her team were still at the venue at that time. Technically, she completed the decor by the start time, which falls within the contract, and while we shared our plans for pre-reception desserts and snacks, we cannot fault her for that aspect. As for the wrong initials, to her credit, Vicky was apologetic to some degree and acknowledged the error, but indicated a 30 percent refund was unrealistic. I explained again this wasn't about a backdrop, it was about my wife being displayed by the wrong name, in front of everyone, on her wedding day. It was about the emotional toll and the lapse in attention to detail, especially when Vicky had worked almost exclusively with my wife during planning. How that mistake happened is still beyond me. Candidly, Vicky admitted to mixing up my wife's name with another bride. In the end, Vicky refunded 7.5 percent, stating since we removed the initials, it didn't technically ruin the wedding. No, it didn't ruin the wedding. But it undoubtedly affected how we felt. It cast a shadow over the night. It made us feel discounted, dismissed, and ultimately shorted of a service we were counting on. I believe Vicky put effort into her work. I believe she cares to a point. But her unwillingness to follow through on her word or genuinely consider the emotional impact of her mistake left us deeply disappointed. Mistakes happen, but how you respond to them matters just as much as the service you provide.

The drive to get to the venue after passing the gate reminded me of the other wedgewood wedding property I went to earlier in the year - nice houses, golf course, greenery. I can't follow directions and in an attempt to follow the instruction from the email, we went through the wrong entrance (aka side door), so for a few min it felt like we were playing escape room to find the phone that we were supposed to call. However, if you follow the instructions right, you should be able to see the fireplace right when you open the door. It's a nice grand entrance. The interior area is pretty nice, although it does look dated if you look closely. However, I feel like the layout didn't suit the vision of what we want for our wedding day. As for the ceremony area, I personally thought the indoor version looks/feels nicer than the outdoor version. The outdoor one would be easy access from the parking lot though. I loooved the bridal suite/getting ready area. The groom's suite was nice and spacious too, but has locker room vibe with hoops. The person (wedding expert) giving us the tour was very good at selling us the vision, giving detailed info, etc. As opposed to touring the venue first, eagle ridge gave us the run down and "sales/informational pitch" first. The sales pitch is v important for wedding venue shopping, so no negative connotation there. We ended up choosing a different venue: one main reason was the fact that we can't try the food first. We didn't feel comfortable locking in to an all inclusive venue that doesn't allow outside catering. The menu options look good enough, but how does it taste???? It would suck if we end up not liking the food during the tasting and having to settle for a "I guess this is fine because we have no other choice". We were ready to pay to be able to have the chance for trying out the food first. Unfortunately, that was not an option. The other reason was the fact that we don't have much getting ready time. If I remember correctly, you only get to go in the suites 1-2 hrs before start time. The club is only open to the members prior to that. Idk about other brides, but I personally would need a lot more than that if I'm doing makeup and hair there. The timing might be okay if you only plan on changing into your dress there.
