Very unique burger and sushi restaurant. I got the wine jam wagyu burger. It was very flavorful. I wasn't a fan with how much cheese was in there and the texture was a little odd to me. All the other toppings were so good. My daughter got the surf and turf sushi and devoured it. The service was great. Our waitresses were very attentive. The ambiance was relaxed. There was a small bar with a tv. I would definitely try this place again.

We found charbar in the Serg magazine provided by our hotel. They also said show your room key and save 10%. Very cool! Who doesn't love a good burger. I had rosemary truffle fries with my burger and so did my daughter. My husband got the hand cut chips and all were delicious. My daughter and I loved our burger but my husband says his pulled pork was bland or needed more sauce. Service by Pippa was great and I'll definitely be back! You can dine inside or outside and parking is plentiful.

First time eating here. Tried the blackened shrimp burger based on the reviews. The shrimp patty with the arugula, pickled onions and garlic aioli is amazing. Fries were super crispy. The server was kind and attentive. As for the host- I was a party of one. It was the dinner hour so he asked me to sit at the bar. I do prefer to sit outside and asked him if I could. He said he would have to check and see if there was space for me. It wasn't busy, and as a solo traveler I have just as much right to sit outside as if I was with someone. He didn't check- he just made a weird comment about it. Not cool. Other than that clown, I enjoyed my dinner.

This restaurant makes customer service their top priority and it shows up in the whole dining experience. Our server was very friendly and explained their menu to us, especially their specialty burgers, as they have some unique combinations. In addition, our server let us know they welcomed special orders or substitutions, so we should feel free to ask for anything we wanted. They use a mix of Waygu in their burgers and the taste is delicious. Their onion rings are very good, but their fries are some of the best I've had. I had to indulge and ordered a chocolate milk shake, but I will pass on that next time I return as it just so-so. We also tried a bit of their sushi rolls, as it is a novel idea to mix burgers and sushi. In this case, I wasn't impressed with the sushi and think they should stick with the burgers! There is plenty of seating inside and out. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. I would definitely come back if I had a burger craving.

One of the best burgers i've had! The fries were well seasoned, i forgot what burger i had, but just know it was delicious! It was a little messy because of the sauce , but the flavors were phenomenal. The service was amazing , the lady who served us was so nice!! Thanks CharBar, next time i go to HHI, i will definitely come back!!

The hand cut potato chips here are the best! The fried pickles were good but not great and the burgers were very good! My husband got the shrimp po boy and it was mostly bread. We will be back next time we're in HHI.

I enjoyed an outdoor dinner with friends. Once seated we put our drink and food orders in. We started with the apps like fried pickles and green tomatoes which were delicious and came out hot from the kitchen fairly fast. We cleaned the plates with those and then got our meals I ordered the pork belly bowl. It was savory meat on top of a healthy salad.

Pleasantly surprised by this place! They have indoor and outdoor seating, and it's a lot bigger inside than it seams. We were sat right away and our food came out very quickly. They have a pretty big menu and can do substitutions (chicken instead of a burger, etc.). The truffle fries were SO GOOD and there are so many burger combos to choose from.

    FRIED GREEN TOMATOES

Good burgers - simple construction and minimalist, but comes with big flavor. Fried Green Tomatoes were decent, bit too thick on the breading, tastes more like bar foos than traditional. Would only recommend if you REALLY need a burger and can't cook your own.

It doesn't feel corporate or manufactured at all. More like you've stumbled into somebody's lovingly chaotic backyard dinner party where the food just happens to be genuinely top-tier. The mismatched charm, handwritten feel, and warm atmosphere are part of what makes it so special. There's this brilliant contrast between the laid-back hole-in-the-wall vibe and the seriously refined cooking coming out of the kitchen. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were incredibly tender, fried perfectly, and drizzled with a lovely house-made ranch. The sweet house pickles alongside were such a good touch. We also each had a cup of she crab soup which was beautifully seasoned and packed with tonnes of crab morsels. For mains, we shared the shrimp and grits and completely understood why the recipe has won awards, including being recognised as the 3rd best in the world. The recipe is rooted in traditional Lowcountry cooking but elevated with layers of flavour that somehow still feel comforting and homemade. The grits were unbelievably creamy, and the shrimp and sausage were perfectly cooked with fantastic flavour throughout. We also split the seafood purloo with blackened grouper, and it was equally impressive. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted incredibly fresh without trying too hard to be fancy. What really made the experience though was the staff. Everyone went above and beyond. They took time to chat with us about the area, paced the courses perfectly so nothing felt rushed, and by the end we were leaving with handshakes feeling more like guests than customers. Places like this are getting harder to find. We'll absolutely be back and would recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Lowcountry food served by genuinely wonderful people.

He said it was generally more of a local than a tourist place, though everyone is welcome. They share a large parking lot with a shopping plaza. It appears that there is a Publix going in soon. Also, some areas had signs about using a QR code to validate parking, but apparently those were not activated yet (and seemed unpopular with the staff). It was fairly crowded when we arrived (probably 9:30 a.m.). However, they apparently just expanded and took over the adjoining space (formerly a t-shirt shop). So though the 'original' booths and counter stools were mostly taken, there appeared to be open tables in the new space. Service was sort of tag-team; whoever walked by and noticed that you needed something tried to take care of it. That is in no way a complaint - it was an efficient system. We all ordered and had a short wait for the food, given the volume of customers. When it arrived, everyone liked their platters. I had a cheese omelet, bacon, and hash browns. All were quite tasty. The coffee was good too. Prices were reasonable. I'm not much of a 'breakfast out' person at home, but if I were on HHI for any period of time, I'd definitely go back here.

All drinks are thankfully strong (everywhere else on the island they were weak). The Jalapeño hush puppies seem like they are made in-house, and they're very flavorful & crunchy. The hush puppies came with honey butter which was also amazing. The lunch grilled grouper fish taco was delicious & fresh. The salsa on it was very flavorful! The house-made potato chips are also great. Service was great (not rushed). They do need drink coasters (water was all over the table). We came back for dinner. They had live music. Starting with the burger, I like when a smash burger is ACTUALLY a smash burger. They include cheese and pickles on it and it was just the perfect burger. This is genuinely one of the best burgers around. The waffle fries deserve a special mention: fresh, nicely done, and you get a generous portion. Think Chick-fil-A fries, but the way they should be. The Truffle Fries are solid too -- just a bit rich for my taste, but that's purely personal preference. I also tried the Sweet & Spicy Chicken -- good and flavorful, though slightly heavy on the batter for me. Still worth a try. A Couple of Suggestions: A lower-carb side option would be a welcome addition -- I asked and it was a hard no. Hopefully Tin and Tallow considers adding some healthier alternatives down the road. Breakfast -- Proceed with Caution: The croissant with egg and cheese was, unfortunately, a miss for me. The egg and cheese were fine, but buttering an already butter-heavy croissant and griddling it turned it into a flat, gooey mess. I hear there's a biscuit option, which might be better -- but personally, I'd love to see an English muffin or bagel on the menu. Something with a little more structure would go a long way. Bottom Line: Come for the burgers and fries -- you won't be disappointed. Just maybe skip the croissant breakfast for now.

Hilton Head Island has seen some changes in food offerings in the last decade, but fresh and new American fusion isn't common. Enter Chow Daddy's. With two locations (the other in Bluffton) we hit this one on Hilton Head. It's a risky place to put a restaurant, buried in the back plaza of a nondescript but high-end shopping center deeeep in the wooded neighborhoods of the island's Southern tip. If you're staying elsewhere on the island, you'll find you have to pay a small fee to access Sea Pines but many people do to get to the Salty Dog Cafe as well. While it may not get a lot of visibility, it is definitely worth seeking out for the very good Latin American cuisine being offered. Out party of five arrived on an August Friday evening after making reservations and were impressed with the cleanliness and upscale minimalist vibe. Dark booths and Edison-style lighting are offset by the daylight let in by picture windows. There is outside seating in the patio (very pleasant in the shade) and a small bar open off the host area. Inside seating is large enough for bigger parties of 6-8. Definitely not a post-beach day place, but perfect for date night, or more dressy family dinner out. Service was quick and talkative; we enjoy chatting beyond food with out severs which makes the experience even better. Apps and mains were delivered quickly with good presentation. We started with the fine fresh corn dip - extra tortillas were helpful to get the last bits. Mains included a fresh and well pattied cheesburger, mix-n-match tacos and two specialty bowls - cajun shrimp with spicy fine fat prawns and an Ahi-tuna poke style bowl. The rice in both was excellent and the portions were perfect. I'll try to un-hide this hidden star with this review and encourage you to seek it out if you live on "HHi" or make your next visit. I came here with a bunch of friends from my undergraduate research lab while we were in Hilton Head presenting at a conference. We had rented a condo to all stay together and this place was in walking distance, so we headed over. I don't remember what all everyone else got to eat, or much about the service, but I do remember it was a total vibe. Beachy decorations that were fun but still classy and not too kitschy, warm lighting, good music. I ordered an item probably not even on their menu anymore: pulled barbeque chicken on a hunk of spicy cornbread with a side salad. I checked online and it's nowhere to be found, but it slapped at the time, and from pictures it seems like you can still maybe order their spicy cornbread at least, which was the best part! It had a great cakey texture and some legit heat. The chicken was succulent and tender and the smokiness paired well with the salad. It seems Chow Daddy's enjoyed a decade of success after my visit so long ago. I hope the temporary closure listed on the Yelp page doesn't turn into a permanent one. It was a pleasant surprise to be reminded of this visit and my time with friends.
