I went to Poseidon based on recommendations from a gluten free app I use for restaurants. I would consider this a more casual dining restaurant due to the volume of the restaurant and how busy it seemed. I was seated right away without a reservation. I ordered the fried green tomatoes caprese and the blue crab dip with a glass of wine. The crab dip was creamy and very good. I prefer a little more crab and a little less cream but the taste was on pointe. The fried green tomatoes were a little hard and not as tasty as I expected. The beet, goat cheese salad with fried oysters was perfect. They all paired very nicely together and I was very excited to have gluten free fried oysters. I can't wait to return to try more of their menu. My waitress was also very accommodating and helpful with the menu and suggestions. read more

We made a reservation for 4 for dinner on Saturday night. When we arrived, the host was pretty lacksdasial about greeting us and just asked if we wanted to be seated upstairs or down. It was out first visit so we decided to try upstairs. The vibe is definitely very casual and looks like a great spot for appetizers & drinks during warmer weather. Our server was friendly and did a good job taking care of us. We started with a dozen VA oysters on the half shell and they were a-ok. One or 2 of the oysters had a weird consistency but overall tasted fine. One of the people at our table got the she-crab soup & did not finish it.. She said ahe wouldn't order this again here. Hubs had a ceaser salad & said it was fine. For dinner our friends ordered a couple of sushi rolls. They said that the rolls were OK, but nothing to write home about. I ordered a Pacific sushi bowl with salmon. The salmon was cut into tiny bites but was an ok amount of salmon. This bowl also had some edamame, sushi rice, jalapeños, soy pineapple, etc. I would order this again. Hubs had pasta with shrimp added. He said the sauce was a weird consistency and it did look rather oily to me. He said the shrimp were tiny & not worth the $8 extra upcharge. Upon the recommendation of our Omni Hilton Head shuttle driver we went to Poseidon. Greatest immediately by the server. He asked if we want inside or outside. We chose the outside bar with plastic roll down windows / wind barriers with a heater over our table. The waitress greeted us promptly and brought waters. We ordered drinks and sushi roll appetizer. Both couples chose to share surf and turf and mixed grill options. Both were delicious both with a filet cooked perfect medium. We visited the Rooftop Bar and Dueling Piano show for the next evening. This is one of our go-to spots when visiting the area. If you don't have a reservation you will most likely have a wait. The bar area has limited seating and is usually filled. You can dine outside with your fur friend which is a plus. The hush puppies are some of our favorites along with the she crab soup and fresh fish. First night in the area, the friend we're visiting knew we liked oysters and a happy hour bargain, so she brought us here. As it happens, it was restaurant week, so in addition tour our buck a shuck oysters, we had soup and entrees off a special menu. Two of us got fried shrimp and scallops, delicious and generous portion with the lightest non greasy batter. Hubby got trout on grits (salty like the she crab soup, but yummy). After dinner we went upstairs to a dueling piano show. It was a fun surprise and a nice way to kill an hour with an after dinner drink. Don't hesitate to come - inside, outside. We always enjoy stopping by Poseidon Lounge, especially during our annual trips to Hilton Head Island. It's become a bit of a tradition for us. We prefer sitting at the outside bar rather than inside -- it's covered, so you're shaded from the sun, and there's a distant view of the water, which adds to the laid-back coastal vibe. They have a nice selection of draft beers, and I especially enjoyed a glass of Sycamore Super Quench, a refreshing wheat ale with citrus notes. There's also a decent wine selection by the glass -- we went with the Domain Barcelo Rosé, which was light and easy-drinking. For an appetizer, we had the Pimento Cheese Dip served with pita wedges. The dip was flavorful and satisfying -- a great choice to share over drinks. Our bartender was helpful, lively, and entertaining, which made the experience even better. Service is consistently good, and the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. All in all, Poseidon Lounge is a reliable and enjoyable spot. We were craving good Seafood and that is what we got! The clams were fresh, chewy, and salty. Perfectly paired with bread to sop up the liquid to end the meal. The She crab had a tomato base and distinct taste. Definitely felt like eating straight from the ocean and meaning it in the best possible way. All the seafood that came were substantial, "meaty", pieces. The shrimp had a snap to it. The crab dip was addicting. The casserole had a nice texture with smashed Ritz crackers in it. We happened to be there on a Tuesday Night and dined on the Rooftop Level. At 9p, the server was so kind. She saw that we had young kids in our party and told us to take the kids out to the balcony area to see the Fireworks on the Island. She was so patient-- told us to take the kids to see the fireworks and would take our order after because she didn't want them to miss it. The gesture was super thoughtful. The service was really warm and hospitable. The Nautical theme of the restaurant was super cool. The light fixtures, signage, decor and Wall Art made you feel you were walking into a kingdom in the ocean. Super chic, hip and vibrant. The corner booth we sat at looked like we dined in the center of a seashell. I really enjoyed my experience there! read more

The food was good. I had the broiled seafood platter. Drinks took an unusually long time to get to the table. Our waitperson did explain the bar was backed up. My main gripe is with the greeting station. They have one and it was empty when we got there and empty for the 15 minutes we had to wait for a table despite reservations. Meanwhile walk-in's are getting seated immediately. Waitpersons are apologizing for no one being at the station. Either the restaurant hasn't trained staff well or scheduled enough coverage. Oh my goodness! We had seen this place before on previous trip to Hilton Head but had never actually dined there. We finally went on our last night this year, and our biggest mistake was waiting until the last day because we had no more time to go back! The food was great, the prices were awesome, and even the kids menu exceeded expectations. The steak on the kids menu was legit and absolutely delicious! Wow! This place is worth a stop. Come here for seafood. The New England clam chowda was delicious!! Just order it. I also ordered the island roll. It was good but over sauced in my opinion. The 2 stars are for their food. It was pretty darn bad! Mac and cheese that was oily or greasy-not sure. A Margherita flatbread that was practically inedible the cheese was a question mark HOWEVER...the dueling pianos was so much fun. The only reason that I gave this restaurant a 3 is due to the location, ambiance and good service from our waiter. The price point was also nice for HH better dining. There was so much wrong with the food I am only going to hit the highlights. The food quality is akin to an Applebees restaurant. Mass produced and processed. The waiter told me that the NE clam chowder was his favorite so I trusted his suggestion. It was allegedly home made and I assure you this was not the case. I've opened my share of Campbell's soups and this was as if they forgot to add the water or milk. Thick and too salty and NOT homemade. The she crab soup was also mentioned. This may have been home made there, but was still too thick. Nice flavor with hints of sherry which can be over powering if you add too much. I ordered a " beet salad" which the waiter also told me had ample beets. This was not the case. It was a decent salad at best, not remarkable at all. The size was not equal to the price. More like a side salad than an entree salad. My wife had the wedge salad which was really poorly presented and made. Someone at the table ordered the crab cakes . Being from Maryland and also a cook I can tell you these were okay but not what you'd expect for the price. They had that orange look to them which pure lump back should not have. Too much filler as well. Our other friend ordered the fried seafood which they served in a bowl. Awkward and it looked oily. He was not impressed. I could go on but I think you get it. We had the most amazing dinner here. We sat outside and it was a little loud due to the game being on but the atmosphere did not suffer for it. I enjoyed feeling the breeze and was able to look out at the green around me. It's nestled at the back of shelter cove so not as busy as some of the restaurants right on the main roads. But shelter cove is not to be dismissed either because it's got some great shopping and walking right there. If you don't have dessert at this restaurant, there's a kilwins very close that's very popular . This place also has an early dinner option if you had an early lunch for instance. It was super cost affordable and I absolutely adored the Ratatouille Risotto that I got. It was such a big helping with the chicken that I easily ate it for 2 meals. read more

This is a nice seafood restaurant in the area! It was really busy when my group arrived, but they were able to seat us immediately. I got the stuffed cod and also got to try the hush puppies and broiled scallops. The hush puppies were very delicious - perfectly fried and a tasty sweet and savory taste. My stuffed cod was pretty good as well, just a tad over baked in my opinion. I tried some of the broiled scallops and they were delicious. The Great Gal and I noshed at Poseidon with six others for Happy Hour that rolled into dinner. We were more than lucky to have Server Extraordinaire, Melissa for our table. ... truly personable, on top of her game in every sense of the word. I enjoyed the heck out of deep fried deviled egg. Never had such a dish before. I loved it, although a bit spicy for me. Others at the table loved the spice. I added a bowl of She Crab Cream soup that I absolutely loved. Would have eaten two bowls if I could. The GG went a crab cake, which I nibbled and loved. She also enjoyed oysters, as did everyone else at the table, ..... except me. Not my style! Other table meals enjoyed were chicken sliders, clam strips, sushi with caviar, and spinach salad. Everyone was delighted with meals and drinks! Great spot connected to shopping and a park on the water across the street for an evening stroll. The food is always good, the staff is nice and friendly and the options for seating are always nice, outside patio, inside or upper deck. The twin lobster was great, the sword fish was good, the only thing that threw me was the lobster and shrimp cocktail, it was good but the presentation if I can be picky for a second was lack luster. I loved this place! It was recommended by a local and I had a wonderful experience. It's beautifully decorated with a covered outdoor area and bar. There is also a rooftop bar which is unique. This area is adorable and conveniently located to resorts close by, and the parking is easy. One weird thing was that we were sat at a table by the outside Nauti Bar (less than 10 feet from it), asked about happy hour specials and were told these were exclusively for sitting at the bar or the surrounding tables on the other side. So naturally, we moved. That was strange (maybe it's a separate business?) but the specials were great! $1 oysters and $6 margs, for example. We ordered oysters and then for our mains I had the Fish & Chips which were honestly the best I've ever had in my life. The fish pieces are HUGE and so incredibly crispy. I sent a friend here that traveled to HHI after and he also agreed. My other friend enjoyed her Salmon dish. The portions are grandeur especially for the price point. Food was good. I got the frogmore stew. A tampered down version of a crab boil with shrimp, kielbasa, potatoes and corn on the cob. Seasoned well. My husband got the mahi mahi Mediterranean style and absolutely loved it. The fish was cooked perfectly and risotto as well. My daughter got the crab boil and ate the whole thing, no complaints! The service was wonderful as well. Our waitress took the time to let us know the specials and took time out to just have a nice conversation with us. Very welcoming. We sat outside, because why sit inside when it's beautiful out? Well it was a bit stuffy, I do wish there were more fans there. I'm sure that you might be able to see the water from where we were but unless you're sitting on the roof top on a Tuesday evening you won't see much because of the inflatables for the kids and food truck. read more

Poseidon is one of the best SERG group fast casual restaurants on Hilton Head. There were 6 of us who reserved a table in advance inside. In the summer, inside is usually better based on comfort and potential uninvited guests. Our waitress was Madina and she did a wonderful job taking drink orders, keeping our refills coming and serving us. She also made some great recommendations. Three of us went for the early dining special for $25 which included a soup or salad. I had the Seafood Trio which consisted of shrimp, scallops and halibut. It was served with vegetables and dirty rice (brown/seasoned). I also had the She Crab soup which was excellent. This was not my first time to this restaurant. The first time I was upstairs which is now called the Rooftop where you can get a great sunset view. The second time is when we did the dozen raw oysters. They were fabulous. This time, everyone had a great meal. Even my wife who doesn't eat seafood had the Margherita Flatbread along with Caesar Salad. You won't be disappointed. read more

Before I give my review, I want to start by saying the food was good and I will go back because I loved the restaurant. Now why not 5 stars ... the staff. The waitress we had seemed to have an attitude from the moment we sat down. We had to ask for early bird menus and happy hour menus. She seemed to not want to give those to us. Then the guy giving out food barely spoke English and when trying to help him he got frustrated and slammed down the food. I don't know what was going on but at that point it was three stars for food and atmosphere. It's a nice place. However Manager Jo came in and saved the experience. She was wonderful and when she came in things changed. So I will go back because of the good food and great manager. Plus the early bird menu is amazing read more

We visit Poseidon each year when we are on vacation. In past years, it was OK. This year it was outstanding! Good to see it trending in the right direction. Food and service were excellent with fresh appetizers and fresh and well prepared meals. Baked Oyster Combo app was delicious as well as the chilled Lobster meat app. Fresh! I had the broiled seafood collection and my wife had the low country boil. Both abundant and tasty! Service was attentive and friendly. We will be back next year with the whole crew! read more

We dined at Poseidon this evening and had a good experience. Walter was our server and did a decent job. Poseidon's restaurant concept is around serving fresh seafood and meat in a 'resort casual' (I stole that 'label' from an attire sign posted in their entry) or higher end casual environment. No tank tops or cutoffs I suspect is what the dress code is. We started with the Sunset sushi roll (5/5). It was fresh and flavorful. My wife had grilled grouper w/mixed veggies and baked sweet potato (4/5). She loved the grilled fresh grouper, but the sides were nothing to brag about. I had a grilled rib eye with whipped potatoes and mixed veggies (4/5). The steak had good chargrilled flavor, seasoned well, and cooked to the right temperature. It was a good solid meal. If I lived on HHI and was looking for open flamed grilled fresh fish, I would definitely come to Poseidon. There were at least 5 different fresh fish choices (not counting shellfish)...this pretty amazing. read more
