I had…read morebeen toying with the idea of getting my brows tattooed for a while after psoriasis wiped them out several years ago. I only have a few small hairs above each eye and I was extremely embarrassed by this before my first procedure. Although I eventually became quite good at drawing them in, I was a perfectionist about it which nearly made me late to work on multiple occasions... needless to say, my self-esteem was pretty low. Then I came across a woman who just had her brows done - the only reason I knew they were tattooed is because they were red and slathered with Aquaphor. She referred me to Elaine and after a consultation, I could tell Ms. Chen would meet my (admittedly high) expectations. She is all about perfection and will not let you leave her office until she feels she has done all she can to make you look your best. I scheduled my appointment in late March. After booking, I contacted the salon to add a haircut to…read moremy service and was told I would need to move my appointment from noon to 11:30 a.m., which I agreed to. Everything appeared confirmed, and I even received a midweek call to reconfirm the appointment, which I did. On the morning of my appointment, I received another call to confirm my services due to some confusion. I clearly stated that I was scheduled for partial highlights and a haircut, and I was told, "Okay, see you then." When I arrived, I was seated and then informed that I would not be receiving my haircut because I had "chosen a color touch‑up" when I originally booked. I was also told this occurred because I scheduled through the "old system," and the new system did not catch it. Internal system issues should not fall on the client, and I was unsure why this was being explained to me instead of simply addressing the scheduling problem. What I would have appreciated was transparency during the call that morning. I should have been told: "There will not be enough time today to include your haircut. Would you like to proceed with color only or reschedule?" Instead, I was asked, "What is more important to you, your haircut or your color?" This did not feel professional, especially since I had been looking forward to receiving both services. I was extremely disappointed in how the situation was handled. It felt as though the schedule had been overbooked and another client was prioritized, leaving me without the services I had confirmed multiple times.

Bear in mind, the service will take a long time, as this is a student teacher moment. Didi is supervising and cutting along side of the mentee the whole time and following their work, to ensure your cut is to her satisfaction. No stylist wants you to leave their chair until you look and feel your best. This was my 2nd time being a model, I was in the chair for 1.5 hours. I myself learned a lot from this experience. Didi is very knowledgeable, hands-on and articulate in her teaching style. I haven't had a layered cut in a REALLY long time, over 10 years. I didn't know what to expect out of the service. But once I got in the chair and started talking to Didi, I felt comfort. I was prepared with inspo pictures (I highly recommend always coming with references for your stylist no matter how experienced they are). If you look at the pictures I have attached, you will see that we decided to do a modification of 2 or 3 styles. Curtain bangs with face framing layers, shaggy & wolf cut. All these styles were blended and connected well, to create my haircut. I hope this beautiful Frankenstein creation can be recreated in the future. I am very happy with the haircut, and I am always happy with the service provided by Didi and all her staff. Didi's passion shows in every aspect of the salon, her performance, the stylists she's trained and hired, all her employees, and the environment. The staff is also, always educating themselves and innovating. You can have all the tools, but without knowledge of how to use those tools, they and you are useless. &they know how to use every tool in their tool box. I'm excited to see how my style continues to evolve.
