I have been to this location a few times now and aside from doing great brows, the salon is comfortable and cozy but they do great hair too! I come to see Pinar and she is so easy to work with. Ladies, it's our hair and how important is it for a stylist to not only be open to ideas but also honest about the potential choice of style you want (breakage, color won't hold, color won't turn out right etc...). Pinar works for her customers, not her pocket. Also, off note, she has the best hands for the wash! I think I fall asleep every time haha! Customer service is of the utmost importance to me and every time I walk into Baran Brows (formerly known as Mazzy's) that is exactly what I get! As soon as you walk in, you are promptly greeted by Samira and her sister Shay and they always have the biggest smiles on their face. I've been seeing Samira now for years, and she is hands down the best threading artist in the Bay Area. She listens to what you want while at the same time, knows exactly what shape looks good depending on your facial structure. Aside from doing a phenomenal job with my eyebrows and upper lip, you can count on their hygiene to be immaculate. The studio space is well maintained, very clean and designed beautifully. Samira and Shay wipe down the chairs and also sanitize/wash their hands in-between every client. I wouldn't think twice about visiting them here, but definitely make an appointment ahead of time since they get booked pretty fast! I wanted to like this place since it's close to my home and I desperately need to find someone to take care of my brows in the Bay. Unfortunately my experience here traumatized me. I got my eyebrows, lip, and chin done. I lived in LA and NYC previously, and the most I have ever paid for all three was $22-25 including tip. I understand the Bay is expensive, but the pricing here is insane. I ended up paying $45 all in. I would've been okay with the price had my eyebrows turned out well, but one eyebrow was threaded way too short on top and my eyebrows ended up crooked. Like literally my right eyebrow was lower than my left one. My partner, who can't even tell when I cut off 6 inches of hair, noticed my crooked eyebrows!!! On the bright side, it doesn't seem like they pull hair out at the root. I normally last a month+ before needing to thread again, but my eyebrows were growing back again within a week. I'm about 2 months out from my visit here and my eyebrows are finally looking less crooked. I was worried this would be a half year ordeal to get my brows back to normal, and am so relieved my embarrassment was short lived. That said, if I'm paying $$$, I expect the results to last. read more

I got my eyebrows threaded for the first time a month ago and I was so pleased with the results. Samira was fantastic and explained the whole process for me and I felt very confident with her skills. So I decided to have my eyebrows touched up with micro blading from her this past week. I was NOT disappointed. Her process from start to finish was very professional, and thorough and inspired me to feel even more confidence in her. She had me complete a health information form and a consent because this was technically a surgical procedure. She treated it very seriously - total respect for her. I'm a registered nurse so I really appreciated all she was doing to make it right and above all, comfortable. It was like a mini-surgical unit!! During the procedure, she always checked in with me to make sure I wasn't feeling any pain. And if I did, she would stop immediately and apply some more topical numbing gel. She recorded the blade's lot number and expiration date as well on the health form!! What I really appreciated with her was that I was the only client that day! Hence there were no distractions so she could do her job well and it made me feel more relaxed also. She had written step by step instructions as well for how to take care of your eyebrows for the following 10 days and provided a special cream to apply. I'm on day 5 and my eyebrows are looking great! I've only had one other experience prior with another eyebrow artist and the experience has been like day and night! I had had dermabrasion treatment five years prior, and it was starting to fade. I decided to give Sima a chance to touch up my eyebrows, I must say.
