Rounded down from 3.5 stars. I walked by Mazzy after my pedicure and decided to get my brows threaded since it has been a long time since I last have it professionally done. The lady was nice and provided the service right away even though it was noon and they were on their lunch break. While I asked for a thicker natural looking brow, I expected some thing that would complement my facial features from a "brow bar"... However, the outcome was a thick and short brows... I tried to give some instruction to fix the brows, but didn't want to make it worst so I just left. I might go back since I haven't found a better brow thread place yet and $17 is a decent price... Will definitely bring in photo or be more instructive next time! read more

I have only ever been to Baran for threading so this experience compares to the previous experiences at just this business. My experiences prior to this one were amazing. I never have had issues post threading when I've come here before (this was my fifth time). No pimples, no breakouts, no scabs. Some expected slight redness or swelling which went away in an hour or less. This time, my face is full of nicks and cuts because of the technique. I knew she was going fast and she was a bit rough but I figured she knew what she was doing. I know the thread can often break but this happened so many times I, much more than with my experience with Sam and the other person who worked there before. At times I asked if I could hold my skin taught and she commented no it was fine. I wish I would have done it anyways. She commented I was swelling because my skin was sensitive, and I thought that was the reason. However, when the swelling went down I could see every place I had swelling was because she had cut my skin. I have a LOT of tiny scabs all over my face (43!, yes I counted because it's upsetting). If this had been my first experience I would not have returned. I will go back one more time to check, but only to Sam. I'm putting this review here not to hurt the business but so that if you go you can ask her because my experience with her was very good and I like the place. read more

First of all, I had to wait 5-7 mins with no communication as to why I was waiting . Apparently the girl at the desk only checks in and takes payment . Fine. There was no other customers. Second, I have been getting my eyebrows threaded in NY and FL for a decade. I just moved to California and was scoping some where new by my house. It literally took her forever. So I assumed - great she must be really shaping and taking her time to get every hair . Took maybe ten minutes although I just asked to clean up the shape. Thirdly- it costs.. 20 dollars . I didn't even know until after the service was over (mistake, I know) The results - I need to grow my eyebrows back out. She started messing with the shape at the top on one eyebrow. I will be filling them in until then. I will never go back. Not worth 20 dollars, not even worth ten dollars . I know they give you a mirror afterwards to check , but what are you going to do when they mess up the shape? Also noticed stray hairs between the brows and closer to my eyes once I got home. How annoying! Forth- it took her 5 minutes to change the price from $40 to $20. I have no interest in any rebate or money, I will simply find somewhere more professional , meticulous , and affordable . One thing about moving to a new city is you need to find out who's good. The tech Sam is always nice to me and I like the point system that have for sometimes you do get the discount of some money off and a free threading, too. It was a very bold statement that this place call themselves a "brow bar." I was in desperate need for an brow clean up and tried to find another place I found on yelp. However i wasn't able to locate the business so I walked into this place. I didn't have an appointment but they took me. I instructed them to only clean up and not to make them thin. That was the exact opposite outcome that I received. The lady first started threading very very slowly and then busted out the tweezers and started tweezing a lot. I wasn't sure what was going on so I let her proceed. When she moved to the other side I observed carefully what she was doing and saw her go for the tweezers. I told her i DO NOT WANT tweezing. Her response was that threading is not as accurate as tweezing and so she was going to finish with tweezing, but if I didn't want her to tweeze she would thread. I told her if she didn't know how to do it that I didn't want her to do it. She then started talking to someone next to her in another language and that person eventually came over to finish the job for her, using no tweezers. She ended up using the scissors the most. I felt like my eyebrows were getting haircut. My eyebrows ended up being a as thin as a pencil line. I've never heard someone tell me they weren't able to be accurate with threading. Eyebrow threading requires extreme accuracy. Any threading expert would tell their customer not to tweeze because it causes ingrown hairs, but this salon is not skilled enough to not tweeze. I also think it is extremely rude to talk to about your customers in another language. It is very unprofessional and RUDE. Anyone who has ever experienced a botched eyebrow job knows that eyebrows take months to grow back. I've been reliving this terrible experience for months. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else! DO NOT GET THREADING DONE HERE. They are not skilled at the trade they advertise on their sign. read more

i went in to get my eyebrows and upper lip threaded. once I sat down, she started on my upper lip. it really hurt after a while and so she stopped because she obviously could see I was in pain. the lady said, with a very impatient attitude, "do u need a break?". I said no thank you and she continued. after she was done, we started on my eyebrows. they just needed a little clean up, but the lady did way more than that. first off, she didn't even clean my eyebrows. as a result, i ended up breaking out later that day. when she was done with my brows, they looked like a straight line. she COMPLETELY got rid of my arch and they looked absolutely terrible. the total cost was $28. i was so upset. i ended up going to 7 sisters (a nail salon across the street) to get them fixed. they gladly took me for $18 and made them look way better than before. if i could, id give this place 0 stars. DO NOT get your brows done here; unless you want your eyebrows looking as thin and as straight as a needle. read more

I walked intending to go to another threading spot I'd found on Yelp. After checking Yelp reviews, I decided to give it a try. It was empty. The space is nicely decorated and clean. I asked the woman there [I didn't ask her name :-(] to look at my brows to gauge (from her face maybe?) whether she thought she could not screw them up. She did a nice job shape-wise but it was pretty painful. I could feel my skin getting pinch between the thread which I didn't experience at my prior places. In terms of professionalism, though, I think she knows what she's doing. In terms of prices, I found it a little expensive but probably to be expected given the 25th Avenue location and the decor. $25 for brows/u. lip. They aren't making it on volume so, each customer counts. Would I go back? At some point, I prob would. read more

My brows are not freakish caterpillars anymore. At least that is how I felt they were before coming here. I have been a good handful of times, I work across from them so its convenient that they are usually available for walk ins when I get off. I had an appointment at 10am today, which is what time they opened. I got there and had to wait 25 minutes before anyone even showed up. As soon as I was getting ready to leave the owner showed up...I was standing outside and she said do you have an appointment? I told he yes at 10 and all she said was sorry, I was hoping for some money off because I had to wait so long but that didn't happen.
