I asked the receptionist why and she looked at my service history and saw that I had been being over charged for a different service that whole time. When I reached out to the owner Anna to have her review my past services and issue me a credit towards future appointments she kept pushing me off, saying "I will look tomorrow" . As this went on for weeks. I came into the salon and saw her decorating the front door and asked if we could get this sorted and she told me she was busy decorating and would get back to me, continuing to put me off. I ended up taking matters into my own hands and requesting my history from the receptionist and added up the total and told them how much of a credit I have and had to keep a log myself until I was made whole in that situation. I had been going to this very expensive nail salon for almost 2 years. Before I took a nail break due to a fingernail infection that I suspect was caused by this salon. I had several issues with my gel polish peeling off of my nails over the last few months I was going there. Twice I had the gel polish peeling off same day/next day before even taking a shower and when I contacted the salon they were telling me that it had to be something I was doing. I had to go in twice within 72 hours to get my nails fixed. My guess is that the products they are using are no good and not sticking to the nail bed and I have several friends that experience the same thing. (My girlfriend got her nails done before heading to a wedding in Europe and had to attend with no polish on one nail because the whole thing peeled off in one piece. ) I reached out to an old nail tech I previously saw and she recommended which base and top coat to use. I then purchased those products and brought them with me the last time I was in and my polish lasted 2 weeks+ (that was the fix). But after that my nail became infected. I was diagnosed by my primary physician and was prescribed antibiotics to take for a week as well as an antibiotic ointment to use. Not using my best judgement, now that my finger is healed and I have an event coming up I tried to schedule an appointment and planned to bring my own products when I realized that I was blocked from booking. I reached out to the salon and this is what the owner responded to me. Telling me that I'm the blame, saying that I expect my nails to last a month, when my complaint was about my nails not lasting even 24 hours. She is now refusing me as a client and acting as if I have gotten aggressive with her and is threatening legal action. I have also had a friend tell me she had the same experience, they told her they would refund her. Never did, and my friend had to call her bank to get her money back. Over $200 for a manicure that did not last 48 hours. Unacceptable. I will attach screenshots of my conversation with the owner. Also, not registered with BBB.

Some people don't and the demand to be perfect is sometimes also difficult. Again, Hairstylist are artists and if a client is too demanding, the stylist is not going to do the best job they can do. The waxer didn't clean or prep my skin at all -- she applied the wax immediately after I laid down, without wiping the area, and didn't wear gloves during the service. She also didn't wipe down my face at the end either. After the wax, she simply applied oil and called it done even though there was still wax left on my face. I broke out like crazy afterward and noticed leftover hair as well. While the staff member was friendly, the service felt rushed and unhygienic. Also, having to scan two separate Venmo codes for payment wasn't ideal. From what I've read, their nail services seem to be well-loved, but I would not recommend this place for waxing.

She had been held up at a customers home doing color or something to that effect. I explained my dissatisfaction about having to wait close to an hour just because someone else had been running late and it was the day before my trip and I had other back-to-back appointments. I had thought she would have been overly accommodating and super apologetic. What happened was the complete opposite. Unfortunately, Irina, you were painfully rude to me. You spoke to me in a way and a tone that is unacceptable and therefore I won't be removing this post and won't be returning ever to Alex Chases again. This has left a bad taste in my mouth. After always being kind to everyone at the salon (always on time for my appointments, generous tips, holiday gifts, etc!). Irina said something like "What do you want me to do here?" and then expanded her barking tone with a "why don't you come in on Sunday?" I explained that I was leaving for my trip tomorrow. She raised her voice and said, "Absolutely not. Covid has made all of us suffer. There is no way that is something we will do." I thought wow. We have all been in this pandemic together. Not just you, not just me, the whole world. Every business has suffered. Just because you're having a bad day or your first client made you wait a long time or the client was being a diva, don't take that out on someone who has always been kind to you and someone who has gone to you for a long time. This not only disappointed me but made me lose respect for the way the salon trains the staff. They need to be much more friendly and eager to please the client. I'm in the service business and wow do I know what service is all about. All I do each and everyday is treat my clients well and ALWAYS put them on a pedestal. If I am in the wrong, I admit that and do what it takes to make it right. I actually lose sleep if there is ever tension between the client and myself. I can't imagine ever speaking to my clients the way Irina spoke to me on that fateful day. To their credit, the manager and I spoke. He was very apologetic and kind to me. He gave me a gratis hair coloring appointment AFTER I returned from my trip. The funny thing is that day I went to CVS and got a bottle of Lorreal hair dye and did it myself. Sometimes a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do! Since this event, I have changed salons and now go to La Belle. The go the extra mile there, scalp massage when shampooing, complimentary blow dry (Alex chases doesn't blow dry the hair unless you pay for it!), and even fetched me a latte next door at Blue Bottle when I was tired. Upon arrival I was met by Kim (the owner) who was very friendly and followed COVID protocols. She checked my temperature, had sanitizer available, air purifiers going, and wore a mask (as did I) the entire time. She made me feel right at home and honestly made the entire process seamless. We had a nice conversation throughout, she told me how she has over 27 years in the business and asked me about myself. You know when people ask you about yourself, but they don't really care to hear the answer, they think they are just polite with asking? Well, this was not that. Kim was genuinely interested in what I said which made me feel like I knew her, and already liked her! She gave me a lot of tips/tools for making my skin healthier based on what she could see from our time together and was nice enough to shed some light on what facials are and what I would expect if I ever decided to have my very 1st facial! Kim also does ear piercings which is great to know (I have over 10 piercings myself) so this place was so right for me. She also sells products which I saw when I walked in, but she was not trying to sell them to me like some places do as soon as you walk in the door. I am rating my experience a 5 because it surprised me how comfortable I felt and to top it off, how fast and precise Kim was with my wax request.
