This is an ok spot to go if you want to grab a beer and watch a game with friends. It's not a place I would propose to friends to go to, but if I have friends already coming here, I won't protest. Atmosphere: This is what the place has going for it. Its a big sports bar with plenty of seating for big parties. They have TV's everywhere so you can catch a game, a nice big bar, and even darts. Staff: The staff has always been good when I come here. They've always been very sweet and generally attentive. Can't ask for more than that. Drinks: They have a nice beer selection, decent drink specials and a pretty good whiskey selection (although they will charge you A LOT for it. If you plan on more than one drink, go for the beer). Food: Here's where they lose me. I feel like everything I've had here has been mediocre. It seems that they are trying to position themselves as higher scale bar food, but unfortunately, for me they miss the mark. I've come for taco Tuesday, which their tacos aren't very good at all in my opinion. So on other taco Tuesdays (my friends like to come here) I've ordered other foods instead and everything was just ok. I never write reviews, but I feel like this one is warranted. I've basically came here my whole life and to see the decline in the food is very disappointing. This place used to have amazing wings and then staring back a few years ago they sucked. If I'm in the mood for bar food - this is my go to place. There's really something for everyone on the menu. They have a decent amount of seating for being located in the center of Bay Shore's Main Street. The staff is always attentive, making sure your drinks are full. They offer a decent beer menu, with a lot of locally brewed options. The menu includes specials based on the day and time, but my go-to is always their loaded nachos. The fact that they melt actual cheese on the chips as opposed to using cheese dip makes all the difference. I've gone to their other locations but Bay Shore is by far the best. read more

Went in last night with a party of 7. We initially sat at the bar ordered some drinks. Bar tenders were nice, polite and got our drinks quickly. We decided to order some wings and move from the bar to a table. We closed out our bar tab and moved to the table. We never got a chance to order more food because "Eric" the manager asked us to move back to the bar. He explained to us that we can't take a table just to order wings. I tried to explain to him that we just sat down and we're going to order more food and drinks, one order of wings for 7 people was of course not going to be enough for dinner but sadly Eric was not hearing any of this and insisted we go back to the bar. We all initially did as Eric wanted but the way we were treated made us all feel less than welcome. We watched for several minutes as the table we left remained unoccupied. Pretty good bar food and a decent selection, but really slow and sub-par service even for a bar! Based on way too many occasions. Last time I was there, I had to wait 45 minutes for a drink at brunch. It was not that busy, only 5 or 6 tables filled and a few people at the bar. I was told when my drink was ready that the bartender had to make it special...? don't all drinks get made special?! and if it could take this long shouldn't you tell the customer when they're ordering that it might take this long. I was so annoyed I actually cancelled it 5 minutes before the drink came and they gave it to me anyway on the house. On another visit, my friend ordered chicken fingers and she wanted sauce which took us having to get up and go to the kitchen because the server just disappeared. They do this constantly and it always annoys the crap out of me and whoever I'm with. The servers seem okay, so I just don't understand why they can't maintain their tables. Stopped in for dinner before a show at The Boulton Center. Very disappointing. Knew going in that they didn't serve haute cuisine but .. Ordered nachos as an app. Served cold with a thin layer of congealed cheese topped with a mound of ice cold sour cream. No cheese on the underlayers of chips. The small serving of guac served on the side was clearly not made on site. Very bad. As an entree I ordered a Reuben sandwich. Served with very gloppy cole slaw instead of saurkraut which made the bread soggy. The mystery meat was so tough that I had to eat it with a knife and fork. The meat clearly was not cooked on site. The good thing about Changing Times, as the old joke goes, the food was awful but the portions were huge. read more

This is a casual sports bar to go with friends, have a few drinks and some appetizers. It's definitely a good time. My husband and I came here for drinks and decided to stay and have dinner. I had buffalo wings (because I'm obsessed) but he decided to order shrimp and steak fajitas. A big disappointment! The shrimp was good but the steak had a terrible taste. Really happy to stop by this place for lunch. The place was impeccable clean. Food was delicious with a vast menu of sandwiches, burgers, wings, pizza and alike. Service was first rate; Brittney was very pleasant and professional. Drinks too were wonderful. Televisions galore. Roomy atmosphere. A variety of seating options. We sat on a high top table, with seats that were padded; very comfortable. Portions were very large, so bring an appetite or they are more than happy to help pack it up for your late night snacking pleasure. Pricing was reasonable. Went to this restaurant yesterday, I love good bar food and supporting local businesses. This food was absolutely amazing, every single thing we got which was a lot of food was delicious. It might sound silly but boneless wings happen to be my favorite food and they are just not delicious everywhere, these wings were crispy and the sauce was delicious. We also got the poppers which were so amazing, and the spinach and artichoke dip tasted so fresh. We got the mac & cheese with chicken cutlet on it, also amazing and for the last part we got fried Oreos with ice cream also amazing. When this place opened up years ago it was very nice and had good food. Currently the clientele is so bad in here that they charge you an automatic 18% gratuity after 9pm because a lot of the local area residents don't leave tips. The security guard at the door with a 12" Rambo knife is a nice touch too. As far as the service goes I had to get the tall blonde waitress several times just to order drinks or to remind her we ordered food she had forgotten about. Most of the time we caught her on her phone under the computer at the main desk. The bald manager with glasses witnessed the whole thing, then still the waitress never came over out of spite, she solution was "you can close out and order from the bar" you work for tips so I don't understand why you wouldn't wait on your table. My final conclusion in all of this is that she just isn't that bright. The manager could care less and for some reason he is working the window. The last manager Kristina did a great job with this place, I will never be coming back. However the waitress wearing pajama pants did a great job after covering for her incompetent colleague. I especially love how I get an attitude for just asking for service to spend money. Get a new job please even the table next to me had empty beers for 45 minutes. Pathetic. Bar /Pub Changing Times has a few locations and honestly I've enjoyed every one of them. This location is no different. Changing Times does a slamming business because seemingly everyone has a great time there. The day bartenders are functional enough but they appeared to be overwhelmed by the happy hour Friday crowd...the second wave came on and all was good in the world. Even though our particular bartender was mentally not there, we managed to have a great time nonetheless. Drinks were ample sized and well made and the happy hour prices were great. We ordered some snacks a few times and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount and quality of the food. Again, prices were excellent and we both had a grand ole time in there. Great selection of music playing and other friendly customers made the night complete. Definite my worth a visit to this or their other locations. Parking in the area on the street. read more

Service was abysmal at best and the food was mediocre. My friend's cauliflower wings were saturated in vegetable oil. Once the food was placed in front of us, our table was ignored. We waited 40 minutes, trying To flag down a server for the bill as one waitress stood behind the bar on her phone, one flirted with the bartender, and the other ATE FOOD while wrapping utensils. Service aside, that is a whole other health and safety issue. When our bill finally came, the receipt was dropped on our table and the waitress dashed off to resume eating despite us having our card ready to hand over. Icing on the cake? The table next to ours received their bill after us, paid and left long Before the server came back for our credit card. I'm still disgusted by the fact that the person wrapping cutlery in napkins was doing so while eating. Covid aside, that's pretty unsanitary. Wow. There is literally TVs everywhere, all displaying football games. They have cool signs under each TV saying whose playing who. I'm assuming because we're in NY, the Jets game was on the bigger TVs and the commentary was through out the place when we came. We both got burgers and they were legit. Cooked perfectly with great flavors and the fires were pretty good too. I got the Gouda Burger and my husband got the one with Blu Cheese. Prices for the burgers ranged from $12-$15. They also had a decently sized menu. They had a few Ciders on the drink menu, all $5. They also had a pint special (Sunday.) This place is pretty loud but it's great listening to people cheering and yelling. Service was prompt and friendly. Will be returning. read more

I have been here several times for a late night bite. Whenever I go out with friends We always end up coming here. We all love it. It's perfect for a good drink and some yummy bar food. They are the only bar in bay shore that has a kitchen open late. Luckily, it's great for being the only option. Whether is an evening lunch or 12 craving the food has always been amazing. I have tried items from wings to poke bowls and have NEVER been disappointed. In fact, I crave their wings. It's something I can't get enough of. I do have to admit that although their wings are very tasty, not all of their dishes are on that same level. Last time I was at Changing Times, I tried some of the chicken burrito, chicken tacos and yuca fries. Everything was okay, mediocre at best, but nothing to go crazy over. Another aspect of the night I found to be mediocre was the flatness of their draft beer, while I have ordered draft beer before and had never experienced that problem, I was a bit taken aback by the waitress's lack of concern when I explained the issue. My recommendation is to stick to mixed drinks, bottled beer and wings, it what they do best and the reason I continue to go. read more
