Worst moving experience ever!!!! One of the movers was nasty. It was obvious that I was his last appointment for the day and he didn't want to work any longer - wanted to go home. When I asked if they could wrap some of the furniture and lamps, I was told it cost extra. I told him it was fine and I was willing to pay, he refused and loaded the items in the truck without protection. This caused damaged furniture and crushed lamp shades. He rushed through the move and made condescending remarks - I am a woman. I will never use them again. The other 2 movers were very nice but would not stand up to this guy. read more

The guys who came to move my parents stuff to their new house were so great. They arrived right in the morning (8:30am), and were SO fast, yet careful with every piece of furniture and packed box. My dad is ummmm a "pack rat" so there were a million big items, and they got it all done fast and in a timely manner. The guys were very great at communication and comprehension of where things went in the new house. I recommend this company 10/10. read more

Nobody contacted me. Your responded here that someone would reach out, and this post was the only contact. Clearly there is a disconnect between you and your employees if they told you I was satisfied with the move. What has brought this up more intensely right now, although there has not been a day that I haven't come across something, some issue from the move, since it happened. This week, the wardrobe mentioned in my first post started leaning. It took a large lurch to the left and became very unstable. It is currently propped up with a bookcase for safety until I can afford to do something else about it. There was never any accommodations made for all the trouble during my move. read more

Quote came in nearly $300 higher than everyone else. The service rep was nice, and my online request for a quote was responded to very quickly, but how on earth can you justify $600 for less than 10 items of furniture moving 4.5 miles away? Owner also just messaged me asking me to remove my review since I didn't actually hire them. They planned to charge double other local companies. Make sure you get quotes from multiple companies. Don't just go with one because you know the name or the rating is really high. If you do, you may end up paying way too much. read more

The three man crew, Nick, Matt, and Nick arrived on time to load my household items that I packed. They did a fantastic job of wrapping the grandfather clock, tempered glass table tops, and areas rugs. The crew was very cooperative to unload the boxes to their final room destination and offered to move any boxes that may have been placed in an incorrect room. Used Changing Places Moving twice recently. Once to move stuff out of storage into my new residence and the second to move stuff from where I was living to my new residence. First, the out of storage move. Had a bunch of stuff so they assigned two trucks and four movers. They were by my memory, Eric, Mike B, Matt, and Nathan. On the bill, there names are listed... an "Ollie" is listed and not Nathan so who knows the true identity of the fourth mover. These guys were great. Eric was the lead driver and the one making sure that everything was packed in the truck securely/correctly, etc. I thought his demeanor was so-so, but you could tell he put a lot of care into making sure our belongings were not going to budge in that truck. I was impressed with the way he approached packing the truck. The other guys couldn't be nicer, but more importantly, they did a tremendous job moving our stuff. They were cautious and careful, yet somehow still quick/efficient. I dare use the word precision. Equal performance on the unpack and wanted to make sure everything was where we wanted it and that we were happy. $170 an hour for the team of four with two trucks. I would hire this team again without blinking an eye. Second, the residence to residence transition - much less stuff. Three guys, 1 truck. $135 an hour. Ray, Dalton and Mike who they called "Peanut"... and "Peanut" is the name listed on the bill. Peanut was worthless. You could tell he was new to this and probably shouldn't be a mover. He dropped one box and as such, broke a couple of things. The other two guys were average to good, but they had to keep covering for Peanut. Other details on the move - scheduling and dealing with the office was hassle-free and there were no surprises. Despite Peanut, this is my go-to moving company now. read more

I only had to move a couple miles in Royal Oak, but these guys were all business and straight pros. There were no issues with the move, they were on time, and it seemed like they moved at a pretty good pace. They took apart several items (beds, treadmill, shelving) and put them back together without any problems. They are a little more expensive then some of the other companies, but I think it was worth it. read more

I heard from 'Bob' saying they want to make things right - I will believe it when I see it. At the time of moving, I asked for compensation and was refused. Another tip for the movers out there: don't sign or pay for anything until you've had time to assess how the move actually went. There is pressure to sign and pay as soon as everything is off the truck, but if you do, they will then tell you that you have no recourse because you signed. read more

I had such an excellent moving experience with Changing Places. My sales rep, Justin, was very professional and thorough. I like that he quoted me high, saying that it would never go above what they quoted me. (It came in much lower!). On moving day, 5 guys came right on time at 8:15. They were professional and personable, even stopping to play with my 2 year old boy. The whole process was so smooth and seamless. They put everything where I wanted it, even placing furniture and moving it around to suit my needs. I was so thankful to my awesome realtor for recommending this company and I will very highly recommend them moving forward. I don't plan to move again but definitely would use them again! read more

Moved my parents recently and was given Changing Places as one of three movers to contact. Could not be happier. Chris came out, walked the house, was present and professional. We had a preliminary quote before he left and a firm quote within a day. It's also the little things - I met Chris at the door and lead the tour of the house, but he made a specific point of greeting my parents, shaking their hands, asking if they had questions or concerns. He called them before the move to make sure they were still comfortable with everything. He called me to do the same. We did get another quote for this move - that person spoke only to me and never followed up. The day of the move, Curtis, Jaylen and Brad arrived. We couldn't have asked for nicer, more respectful, efficient people to take charge of the day. They had us packed in under four hours and fully unpacked in another four. Everything was done fast, safely and carefully.....no breaks, scratches, bumps or bruises. These three obviously work together frequently and it shows. Total respect for each other, team effort and cooperation - they were a great team! Thanks to Changing Places, my parents' move was smooth and uneventful. So here's the problem. You call for an estimate - they send someone over and it seems fair. In fact it might be lower than others. The guys come to move and they are fine men. Courteous and efficient. The move actually goes as well as can be expected. Then when they sit down to finalize your payment it's $1000 over the initial bid!! The explanation is that the stuff we asked to be moved required more boxes and packing than estimated. MORE THAN THEY ESTIMATED! So basically they low ball the bid and afterwards what kind of recourse do you have? How can you honestly compare bids? I believe this is called bait and switch if I recall......... Fortunately this is hopefully our last move. read more

We just used them for two moves. One was very good the other was not so good. They clearly have A teams and B teams. Hopefully you will get an A team. And they quoted 5 hours but billed 9.5 hours. And they could not remove certain furniture from my master bedroom and so I hired someone else who got the furniture out in 5 minutes. I am still waiting for the owner to send me a promised rebate. read more

This was by far an outstanding experience. The 4 men were very polite worked very hard and went out of their way to be helpful and work quickly. They moved my baby grand piano as if it was there own and up two flights of stairs. The truck was so clean that you could've eaten on the floor. DECEITFUL! They quoted the job. Came to pick up the items. Realized they didn't send a large enough truck. Told us that they cant move the rest of the items because they didn't have enough room. If we wanted the rest of our stuff moved it would cost us another $300 an hour. We ended up renting a U-Haul and moving it ourselves. These people will rip you off! read more

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL! Hire these people at your own risk! WE MOVED TWICE WITH THESE PEOPLE. On our first move, they damaged several walls, and had to be pressured for weeks before we recieved compensation! On our second move they broke the concrete step infront of our entrance. After we questioned them about it, they promised to send over a professional. In the end all we got was one of their own workers, with NO experience on how to do the repair. Worst of all several of our boxes were lost on our move. When asked about the lost boxes they responded that we were mistaken and all boxes had been delivered. After pressing them for a few weeks they sent over a box WHICH HAD OTHER PEOPLE'S BELONGINGS! Don't even bother fighting with their horrible customer service either, as they are completely condesending with little regard for your belongings or how you viewed the service! WE GOT ABSOLUTELY NO COMPENSATION FOR OUR LOST BOXES! read more

Phenomenal service! I recently used changing places moving to move from Farmington Hills, MI to Chicago. Throughout the entire process the service could not have been better. A no pressure consultant comes out to your home to take inventory and give you an accurate price quote. The movers came on time as scheduled, they were very professional clean-cut and hard-working. They took great care to ensure my belongings were not damaged. The prices were right in line with many other Detroit area movers. I would not hesitate to use this service again! read more

A family member recommended this moving company so I hired them a couple months ago and it was the worst experience ever!! The walls in the new place I moved into were all scratched up and also had sweat stains from the movers. My brand new elliptical machine was scratched up and the wheel cover is cracked from them bending the wheel. My couches had scratches all over the wood and the frame was cracked on one of them. They were so rough with my belongings. They did not wrap ANYTHING. When I asked them to they advised me that it would get covered in the truck. After I insisted they wrap my sofa they did. Don the manager come out and all he did was wipe my walls with "magic eraser" wipes which did not do a thing. He also replaced a piece on my elliptical machine but it's still not in the same great condition it was in prior to the move. Then they had a company come out 2 weeks ago and wrote an estimate of $2,000 to repair my couches. I called Don yesterday and he claims he hadn't heard anything from the company he uses to repair couches that his movers ruin. Hopefully they make some good decisions and fix what they ruined. I don't understand how this company is still in business operating the way they do. The movers must do what they do because they feel they can. I tried 2 men and a truck for my last move and I was extremely happy. Wish I would've went with them this time around. read more

Do not use this company for out of state moving. I worked closely with Changing Places for four months prior to my move from Michigan to Boston, MA. Each conversation ended with them assuring me that our move would be completed by the end of June 2013. We planned our drive from Michigan so that it would occur at the same time that our household good would arrive in Boston. When the promised day arrived our good were no where to be found. I contacted Changing Places no less that six time on one day to try and determine the status of the move. Everyone at Changing Places was either clueless as to where our good were or would not let us know. I finally called the parent company, Arpin, and quickly found out that our furniture was at the Changing Places warehouse. To make a long story short, we received our furniture 3.5 weeks after it was promised and not once during this time were they able to give us specifics as to the status of the move.
