We are missing a lot of important things. This was a 10 mile move, not long distance. We tried to communicate with John, the owner, but all he would say was that he has been in business for 34 years! I guess he thinks that makes him above making a mistake. Then his wife came to get paid and she was hostile and demanding. I told her we needed to discuss the fact that we had items missing and she pointed to 2 tall boxes and rudely said "you aren't unpacked" I replied that we had opened the boxes and replaced the items in the boxes and the silverware was not in either box. She demanded payment, I handed her the check and she stormed off shouting for us to never contact them and that she HOPED MY DOG GOT SICK! They packed the rooms that have items missing, a huge set of good silver, a credit card that was just received and still in the envelope with things in our desk, a big three ring binder type check book as well as other contents in the desk. My tote bag that contained personal items, think purse, is also missing. Why would they even think I would want them to move that? When I mentioned it to the wife her rely was "if it was in the office and they were packing the office they had a right to move it." We had other issues with them, they used an excessive amount of paper, which made more boxes and then charged more than the contract. When I say excessive I mean 20 to 30 sheets of paper in the bottom of the box, 6 full size sheets per light bulb, multiple sheets on Tupperware, and 20 to 40 sheets on top of the items in each box. Every box items were wrapped in excess. The other issue is they did not put down runners the day they packed and my light colored carpet is filthy, it did not have black streaks on the edges of the steps and the back of each step where their feet hit it, overall the carpet is very dirty and it was not before they packed. They packed on Sept.15 and moved us the next day. All boxes have been opened and these items are not here. They will not return our calls or text. When all a man can say in response to our concerns is that he has been in business for 34 years I think he has more ego than knowledge. At least respond to your client who trusted you with their possessions. read more

They were all polite, friendly, respectful, and efficient. They were great with moving the furniture to my new place as far as where I wanted things set up. My floor company hired this moving company to move some of my furniture, rugs, & empty 2 of my closets holding coats, clothes, shoe rack, etc. It was going to be a very small & quick job. Even though it was a small job, I think any job should be taken seriously. I was expecting young, fit, polite guys to be ringing my doorbell (just like when I hired White Star movers, twice, recently for my big move & my mother-in-laws big move). Instead I had 2 older, over weight men show up. I didn't want to "judge a book" too much, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. The first guy proceeded to almost walk on my very light carpeting with his shoes still on, so I said, I have booties or you can remove your shoes but I prefer to not have you guys walk on my carpet. The 2nd man got HIGHLY upset & had a major attitude with me arguing that they had to keep their shoes on & couldn't use booties because they were moving heavy large furniture & they could trip. I told them I only had 1 kitchen table that was large, all the other things were fairly light items. He proceeded to be very upset so we were at a stand still-he was refusing to use booties or remove his shoes & I was refusing to believe that they would be able to use caution & place their thin runners, staying off my cream colored carpet. Because of the refusal, I thought I would be sending them home with the job not done. The other guy, wanting to cut the tension, started defusing the situation & he removed his shoes to move several of my pieces. They started sweating profusely after only about 3 minutes so I only had them move the furniture & sent them home. The last think I wanted is for them to sweat all over my coats & clothing in my closets. GO TO WHITE STAR MOVERS. Don't waste your time. This company does not care who they hire. Maybe it was just that one guy because the other guy was a lot more accommodating. Response to owners comment: No one coming into my house, to literally do work inside of my house has ever refused booties, let alone in such an upset, angry, & unprofessional manner. No cardboard was ever offered. It's September, 9:00 in the morning is around 55 degrees. We're not talking about the middle of July when you wake up & it's already 85 degrees. And I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for booties when you are literally transferring a kitchen table from one room to another. read more

These movers are fantastic. We were so impressed after the first time they moved us we hired them again for a second move. They bring lots of supplies including floor protectors. They work fast and hard. They are really thoughtful to- I was loading few random things on my own, separately into my car and one of the guys started shoveled a path for me without even asking him! I can't recommend these guys enough. Todd, Sean and Jeremiah were fantastic! They showed up on time and crushed the move without cutting corners. They laid down runners, boxed up a few odds and ends, provided wardrobe boxes so we could pack our clothes on hangers, moved my motorcycle and they were done ahead of schedule on both ends of the move. John offers really competitive and fair pricing and was quick to send a quote that ended up being less than the actual cost. FYI, quotes are generated around total man hours and travel time to and from their office to the move site(s). Reasonable, quick, expert service by polite movers who know their stuff. read more

This moving company was fantastic. From the care they took with our belongings, their friendly and upbeat attitudes and even their pricing, I would recommend them hands down. My husband and I moved our 3 bedroom house, garage and pole barn from Michigan to Florida and had several last minute changes with the closing of our new house, which John and his team graciously accommodated. Absolutely love this company! They were recommended to us for an office move... We used them and we're super impressed. So I used them for my personal move from one apartment to another. The difference starts at the beginning, instead of asking me to guess the number of boxes and weight of items the owner comes out to assess your needs. It wasn't awkward or weird and I finally felt like the estimate was going to be realistic vs me guessing (spoiler alert - it was!). Day of move the gentleman we're on time, friendly and efficient. It made a potentially stressful day a lot more relaxing and enjoyable... we listened to music, I did some work and nothing was broken. If you are looking for a moving company, look no further. We moved from Lake Orion to Florida and these movers were amazing every step of the way. We have a lot of new furniture and other belongs that we worked really hard for. I anticipated something's to get slightly damages as it just happens but to my surprise NOTHING was damaged. These movers treated my things as if they were their own. It was 80-90 degree weather and these guys were working hard the whole time barely taking a break for water. They were professional the whole time and they insisted that we let them handle moving everything. They have great ratings and are very nice to deal with. However, I would not use them again. In fairness, the quote was over the phone, but very slow, didn't follow directions, and wash much more expensive than I expected. And wasn't close to our help 3 years ago. This was my 30th move, so I do have some experience. We hired movers at our last place to empty two large POD's into our house and it would about 5 hours with four guys. We gained only a few more pieces in 3 years and lost a couple. The bottom line is it cost us almost 2k in movers. Most of our stuff was in storage in a 32x12 unit that averaged waist-high contents with a path up the middle. That had 4 bikes in it. That unit alone took 8 hours to move. We were supposed to be moved in one day, but it was too full days... so you can see my frustration. Also on the first day, the movers didn't know about the storage unit. The worst part was not following directions. In the new house, I said all the tools in the unfinished part of the basement. Most tools weren't in there but all our art was. Some tools were in the dining room. For example, I had an air compressor in the dining room. Really? And the large one in the garage so apparently they didn't want to take in down to the basement. Then we had MANY instances of our boxes marked fragile and do not stack on top at the bottom of a bunch of heavy boxes, boots on furniture, etc. That was on top of seeing trips into the house that included two rulers, or a single small box or bag. The hours really added up and doubled what I was expecting as far as cost. As mentioned at the beginning. The owner is wonderful to talk to in setting up the appointment, workers are very polite and nice. Just didn't' follow instructions. read more

Zero stars for this place ! Yelp forces to add at least one star, but this place hasn't even earned one star in my opinion ! When the movers showed up on moving day, there was double the size of crew and wanted to charge us more vs what we had been quoted on. The guys doing the moving were jerks, as when they looked around and said we were not ready to move even though we had all of our heavy items ready to go and the garage was full of packed boxes. Last thing I need to hear is from some asshole about how much we have to move. The movers were quite the complainers, you'd think I made my kids do the moving ! Lot of cursing as well! When moving, they did a lot damage to walls and doors. Worse part, they broke dishes that were wrapped with bubble wrap and marked fragile, the broke a desk (and more) even though they took it apart, a nightstand, dresser and they were anxious to drop all of our items and did not help put any of the big items together and stopped after 2 truckloads ! They got into an argument with my 12 year old daughter about where she wanted her things I had to spend the next 3 days moving myself! Think twice before using this company. They lost a box and destroyed my chest freezer. They moved me From Michigan to North Carolina in August 2014. The price was competitive and the pick up of my items was smooth and problem free. Unfortunately the delivery of my items was not. The delivery was scheduled for 8/8:30 am. I received a call the night before to confirm the time. By 9:30 no one had shown up yet. I called the driver, no answer. Called the owner, he said he would check into it. The truck finally showed up at 11am, apparently the driver said he drank too much the previous night and overslept. Awesome! They moved my items in, as the freezer was moved in I could hear something banging around. turns out when they were loading my items on the truck, one of the guys had the bright idea to put my cast iron hex dumbbell weights in the freezer (please note I asked John -owner how to pack these, he indicated I shouldn't pack them, just leave them out and the movers would get them). As a result, the were several large gashes to the interior of the freezer. The mover made a note of this and said John would contact me, he never did. I never pursued it since I did have insurance but it had a $500 deductible. $200 freezer so, I'm just out a freezer. anyway, I didn't count every box that came in, with there being over 100 items coming in, I didn't, big mistake! Once I unpacked everything I noticed I was missing a box. A large box that contained a fairly expensive ($200) comforter. And some other odds and ends. I called the owner to report this. Took a few days to return the call, he left a message that he had spoken to the previous delivery, in Florida, and that guy said he didn't have my box. He also said "he had put up some wood between our belongings on the truck so our things wouldn't get mixed up, so there was no way he had my stuff. So maybe the box ended up in my basement. " I don't have a basement. The box is missing. Again with the $500 deductible, I'm just screwed. I called john back again and left a message. He never returned my call. So, again I say be very wary of using this company. If you do, I'd suggest you get a lower deductible with insurance and make sure you count your boxes as they are delivered! Love these guys! First, I am seriously late with this review: They moved us in the fall of 2010! 3 years later, I am still unpacking the odd box and have yet to find anything that was not meticulously packed and protected. Not a single item was lost or broken. We had a large 2-phase move with their largest truck and 2 PODS. With storage, this move took 1.5 months to complete and the company was professional and anticipated our every need during this time. They stuck to their quote and even reduced the final price a little as I had packed some boxes myself (I am borderline OCD about my stuff.) They dropped off a ton of boxes at my request in advance of the move for me to work with. On move out day they were fast, efficient and polite - they brought 4-5 packers and movers and were there all day. Move-in (850 miles away), was accomplished by 2 guys in about 8 hours. I can't say enough about how wonderful it was to work with this company. The move was super-stressful for me and they took a huge weight from my shoulders. I used Personal Touch Moving to move to Traverse City from the Detroit area. Moving during the pandemic is extremely stressful and if you are looking for a company that is taking precautions and wearing masks, this is not it. They said it's too hot to wear masks, which I understand, but do any of us enjoy wearing masks in hot weather? I am high risk, have a compromised immune system and am on oral chemo drugs. I wore a mask the entire time. The apartment building I'm in also requires masks, so they wore them in front of the apartment manager. One of the movers also lost his temper on the apartment manager scolding him about the layout and design of the building, which obviously the manager didn't build. It was embarrassing. I apologized to the manager and would have expected more professional behavior from the company for a $2,000 moving cost. read more

Terrible company. Avoid at all costs. They gave us a price that includes packing. But when they arrived, they had no intention of packing and left us on our own, because they were busy with other movings and that would take too much time. The General manager, John Drake even hang up the phone on me when I called. We did all the packing ourselves and they kindly accepted to come pick up the boxes the next day. We were stuck. We had no other choice. When the furniture arrived, they refused to arm the furniture. Because they were not the ones who disarmed it. The agreement was that the furniture they disarm they had to re-arm it at arrival. Many of our boxes were in a poor shape. One of the 2 movers (heavy set guy) was rude and raised his voice several times. Not only did they not give us credit for the packing we had paid for (an extra $200) but they also charged us an extra $200 on top for the boxes they had left for us to pack ourselves.
