Tirelessly, they worked the day into the evening helping to pack and move us to our new space a few miles away. The quote was less than anticipated. Our cash payment was received with a significant ($150) discount; something to be considered. Our furniture - heavy, tall, solid wood furnishings were taken from our old space, transported and delivered exactly to where we desired them in our new place without a scratch or dent to them or the areas they were moved through. Metro Movers moved us from Sterling Heights to Clinton Township. I understand it was not a long distance but a house move is still a house move. The 3 guys from Metro Movers I'd like to shout big kudos to are Rocky, Mikey and Rob. Don't believe Mike! He misrepresented the cost and it was $150 more than the worst case scenario. What was even worse was you had to pay all cash or all on a card which cost you an additional 4% of total. This was very upsetting and disappointing! To move an office, a bedroom and 40 boxes for $1,150 is a rip off considering they didn't move any appliances, living room or dining room furniture!!! Our movers were amazing! From the quote, to the move and unloading was the best experience we've had in 15 years of moving homes. These men spent the entire time focused on the correct packing and delivery of every single item. Mikey F., Chris J. Do not use this company!! They were hired to move a large safe and pool table. Everything was going great and professional up until the point they hit a water pipe in my ceiling with the safe and flooded the basement. I cleaned up the water with towels, a mop and fans while they tried to figure out what to do next. We spent days without water because their "fix" didn't actually fix anything and when we turned the water back on it sprayed everywhere again. After finally fixing the water I spoke with mike. Yes, I wanted to have a conversation about some type of compensation. What I got was a conversation with a toddler who had got in trouble. Mike spoke over me the entire conversation, raising his voice and eventually said "what do you want me to do? Bring you a gallon of water". That was mikes response to me telling him we couldn't use our bathrooms, we couldn't do dishes, we couldn't shower, we couldn't cook. Not only was mike horribly unprofessional on the phone, they also put a hole in one of our walls which I wasn't able to get to on the phone call because mike wouldn't stop talking over me. I was skeptical to use them because of the lack of reviews, but I gave them a shot and I am glad we did. They were there right on time with a truck and 3 guys. Not one single mark on my old house or new house. They moved all my furniture, boxes, clothes, everything! The main guy was very nice and kept me updated. It took them almost 9 hours to complete the move! While I expected it to take less time, I was very happy with the price and service provided. I asked around for quotes from a handful of moving companies and Metro Movers came in at the lowest price. I was skeptical at first because of the low number of reviews, but the two men that helped me out did a great job. As soon as they arrived they quickly set a game plan and started going to work. They brought all the proper equipment too, which made a huge difference. Also, they were very honest when setting the start and stop times. Aside from a few (very) minor dings, everything made it in the same condition. I highly recommend them for your local moves! My move only took 3 hours (including 25min travel time), so I basically paid for an additional hour worth of work since they have a 4hr minimum. I knew there was a chance of this happening before my move though since I had just a 600sqft 1br, so I can't complain. I could have let them dissemble/assemble all my furniture, as they were more than willing to, but I chose not too since I prefer doing that stuff myself. I needed help moving into a new home which involved a lot of heavy lifting, so I decided to call around to a few moving companies. I wanted to make sure I made the right choice, since I had concerns about the moving company taking care of those small "accidents" that may happen when moving furniture. The owner, Mike, answered all of my questions professionally on the phone. He assured me that his company was insured and they would take care of any wall dings, furniture repairs, etc that would be needed, as that was one of my biggest concerns. He also said that he and his brother were owners, and they attended all of their jobs, and he would personally be there for my move. The day of the move came, and the movers came right on time. The foreman introduced himself as Mike, which I found out later was not the owner Mike who said he would be there. I didn't think much of it at the time. There were two other guys there too, and they seemed okay as they were hustling to get all of the furniture out of the old home and into the truck. Once we got to the new home, I experienced all sorts of issues. They had no method of tracking the hardware associated with the furniture they took apart. They moved a refrigerator and lost the hardware, so the doors could not be put back on. All the food I was prepared to put back into the new house had to be thrown out as a result. The hardware for the dining table was not all there, but they assured me it would not impact the stability of the table. That was false, as the table wobbles now. They damaged bedroom furniture by stripping a screw when they took it apart, and left the screw hanging out far enough to be a hazard when putting it back together. They also damaged the bottom of the bedroom furniture set while they taped it up. I even saw the mover pull the piece of wood from the bottom and throw it under the set. They moved a sofa in my living room and put it in the middle of the room. When I asked them to put it back closer to the wall, they dragged the sofa instead of lifting it, which resulted in pulling the fibers of my brand new carpet and there is a visible line there now. Unfortunately, my builder won't do anything about this and I am stuck looking at this line in my carpet every day. When moving a sofa into the basement, it slipped out of one of the mover's hand and the sofa went right into the drywall creating a big gash. They promised me that the owner would take care of this, along with the other follies that occurred throughout the move. I wasn't stressed since I was told by the owner, Mike, from the beginning that they would take care of any issues like this. When I called the owner, he apologized, and said that his guys don't perform their best when he and his brother aren't around. I asked him why he didn't come to the move as promised, and he said they have been really busy and have to split jobs up. I can understand that since he has a business to run. So he provided me more promises that he would come over and fix the issues. It took two weeks of back-and-forth with Mike and he finally made it over to my new home. He brought spare hardware and put the refrigerator back together. Now the doors don't open or close properly. He took a look at the stripped screw on the bedroom set and tried to put it back together the best he could, but it still sticks out. He applied some spackle to the wall ding and didn't wait for it to dry, stating he would be back the next morning to complete the job by sanding the area and applying the touch-up paint. All of the other issues I mentioned above were shrugged off by him. He didn't seem to show much care to the state his employees left my furniture and my property in. I waited around for him the next morning to show, and he didn't come. When I texted him later in the day hours after he said he would be at my home, he said he was sick and couldn't make it. Had I not reached out to him, I would have never known. He made no attempt to let me know he wouldn't meet his promise of being at my home to finish the job. He actually seemed to be in good health when he was at my home the day before. Weeks go by with me sending a daily text message to Mike asking when he will fulfill his promise and finish the job, and his response is that he will come when he has time. I have all of these texts on record. After a whole month passed, I sent him a text asking if we can lock in a date to finally close this out. I received no response. So, after all the broken promises and unprofessionalism, my goal is to let everyone know of this horrible experience, and advise anyone looking for movers to look to another company. If you want your furniture hardware to go missing, property damaged, and want to beg for them to fulfill their promises to you only to go on deaf ears, then you should definitely go with Metro Movers of Michigan. read more

We used them yesterday. They were affordable (we compared), punctual, incredibly professional (Sam and Mike) and honest. They were outgoing and friendly yet business-like and focused for the entire time as their compensation is based on hourly scale. I initially gave them a second look because they advertise as family and veteran-owned (Sam, the co-owner/younger gentleman said he served in the US Army) and we could not be happier. They worked together like a well oiled machine, everything was properly loaded in their nice/clean moving truck, and were `supermen' yesterday moving furniture up to our daughter's 3rd floor apartment in tight stairways... in hot 90+ degree weather. Not a single complaint. I've been moved around the country by my employer (Ford Motor) - this time local (Detroit) and for our student daughter - and have never been more pleased for each of the the above reasons. That said, our daughter also did her part to help by writing "Fragile" on the appropriate boxes. Hello Sammy, I am writing you after multiple attempts of leaving messages after our move on April 11th, which you have not bothered to return My call, which is very disappointing. I want to point out our contract agreement, with an appraisal of 1700.00 for 10 hours, 2 trucks, moving everything including boxes, 1 motorcycle, and the pool table! Disassembling, and reassembling everything. As the below emails state our amount would be adjusted accordingly if we moved boxes ourselves. Let me just say we moved all boxes and all patio furniture prior to the move ( 4 people doing so) renting a uhaul. That immediately should have been taken off of our bill as you stated it would be adjusted from the email below. You underestimated your bid, but should have stood by it. I will say the movers were good, but not so thorough. The agreement was to break down the furniture and to reassemble. #1 None of the beds were reassembled, #2 the pool table was inadequately reassembled, the base was assembled but the granite was not put back on the pool table, nor were the sides, so that all we had to do is have someone come back in to re-felt it, which was stated would be the case. The theater seating backs were disassembled and unplugged, and moved, but never put back together at the new house, causing us to attempt to reassemble without having unplugged them and detaching them to begin with, and having to trouble shoot why once reassembled they weren't working (these were very expensive theater seating). There were large area rugs left at the old house that were supposed to be moved, large concrete planters that were supposed to be moved that were not, and other items. Very disappointing when we specifically stated several times what we needed moved several times, and then to go back to the house with many things left, but we still paid essentially your estimated price. Even though we moved all boxes and patio furniture prior and we were supposed to get a military discount! So I guess after we paid 1600.00. So basically we received a 5% discount off of the original amount to move everything, not accounting for us moving all the boxes and the patio furniture, and not accounting for your word that everything that was disassembled would be reassembled! We ultimately chose metro movers because of you stating you were prior military, and military essentially wants to help military out. I was very comfortable with you upon the initial quote visit other than you asking about what other quotes we had received and giving poor reviews for a competing company! I didn't feel this was your place to "bad mouth" another competing company, but ultimately we decided on the military aspect. Maybe not such a good idea. A response is greatly appreciated being that I have never received a call back. Better Business bureau and online reviews are frequently observed, and I will definitely utilize them. Very disappointed, especially for what we paid and what we were promised was not delivered. In the military, especially, little own in the regular world, your word should be your bond! Do not hire this company! I made the mistake of doing so last Sat. The owner Mike asked me very specifically about every item to be moved and I chose Metro Movers based on the estimate he provided. One day before move, I was told this company does not accept credit cards, so I scrambled to get cash together. When movers arrived, they said my 4-5 hr estimate was wrong and would be twice that! I said that wasn't right and movers told me to call the office. Mike said a phone estimate is basically a guess. I reminded him my house is less than 1000 sq ft and the new house was just 3 miles away. How could this take 8 to 10 hrs? He called his movers, then called me back and said it would be 6-7 hrs. I said I was not happy with this new estimate and he hung up on me. Then would not answer when I called back. Just let phone ring. Very professional. Then the movers started removing my items from the truck and said Mike had cancelled my job! Left me high and dry when I needed to be out of my house and other area movers were booked all weekend. O'Sullivan movers agreed to fit me in Monday morning. They provided a professional estimate, and accept credit cards (though I paid cash). Movers arrived on time and completed my move in less than 5 hrs. Best of all, they saved me from getting gouged by this disreputable "business!" In response to the company's comment on my review, I was told by movers it would take 4-5 hrs just to load and same to unload. And I did not yell at Mike or the movers ever. I was upset to discover movers were unloading my belongings and leaving. And I did tell them to stop doing that until I could reach the office. But no one answered. I stand by my review. read more

Do not use this company! They called the day before to delay our moving time, and then never showed up! We called Mike 586-808-2366 all day long, leaving messages. We never received a call back, not even in the following days. Obviously from the previous reviews they do not show up.
