We used O'Sullivan movers a total of 4 times, first two moving all furniture and boxes into a storage unit and then the next two moving into a new house. This was over the course of a year. We had Dennis, Jeremy, Ray, Devante, Darnell, Jason and Codi through these moves. Each time, everything went exactly as planned, they all worked hard throughout and everyone was polite and professional. All of our belongings were treated with care and nothing was broken. This is a continuation from the rich L : so the producer at Fox 2 was gonna do a special report on O'Sullivan on my behalf because they had put my things on auction. I was homeless didn't have a job and could no longer make the payments, my fault. But they had already robbed me of approximately $6000 worth of valuables my including my $5000 television. I got a lawyer to represent me and they were actually going to send a crew there on the day of the auction to confront them on camera. So it got closer to the day of the auction I decided, my mother left behind a lot of photos from years and years of siblings my my auntie's uncles Polaroids school pictures, baby pictures and they were in my possession in that storage unit. I know Fox 2 could've got me some real justice, but I was just simply not willing to take the chance and lose those sentimental valuables so I called the owner and I said can we make a deal? I just want my photos. He wrote me a check for $500 Dollars and he made me sign a release that I would not take any further action against O'Sullivan but he short changed me. And every time I see one of those trucks I get this pain in my heart because I never got complete justice, so if you're deciding to use this company, I hope you read this so it never has to happen anyone else ever again! read more

I got to say while reading all of these horror stories I am not surprised but I hope somebody can read this so that someday if they decide to pick a moving company they will not choose this one and I could save them a lot of heartache. Back in 2008 I lost my job and was getting ready to lose my apartment my mom had recently passed away and left us with a bunch of money so I went out and I splurged being a younger person not knowing how to invest I bought myself a PlayStation 3 at the time it was very new it just came out several games about 10 there weren't that many that came out at the time. A huge flat screen Sony Bravia television and at that time they were way more expensive and I want to say I paid about $5,000 for it so when the time came for me to move my plan was to sleep in the car for a few months and go back to storage and sell a few of my games if I needed extra money they came they loaded all my stuff on the truck no problem they even took special care of my television so it wouldn't be damaged in the process I appreciate that. When they gave me the price I was a little taken aback because I didn't have enough money and I wanted to make sure that I had enough gas and food and I take the blame for that that was my fault. So I didn't give him half I gave him slightly more than half but I want to say probably 1/3 of what my bill was supposed to be and I told him I would pay them back later. And they were cool about that at the time. So about a couple weeks later I went back to the storage unit and all my stuff in total took about three boxes that they stack up in the warehouse I had them bring down all three boxes. I needed some money extra money that day and decided that I was going to take a couple of my games and sell them at GameStop. It took me 2 hours and I searched all three boxes all of my games all of my electronics with my Playstation 3 we're missing. And I just couldn't believe it I was dumbfounded I thought these people were on the up and up and I just never occurred to me that they would have stolen from me so I asked them where my television was and one of the workers came around and said they couldn't find it I said wait a minute are you serious they said yeah it was sitting back here on Dolly with wheels and now it's not there anymore I said you got to be kidding me. They said yeah well you can file the police report if you want to and they were just very I want to say nonchalant about it. My mother hired them for her move, and the movers destroyed her $6,000 glass table. Her dining set is now a hazard because it is broken at the base. The company was not even apologetic and actually very hostile. Since then, the company has refused to take responsibility or offer any compensation for the damage. On top of that, Christine O'Sullivan was extremely rude, unprofessional, and would not return any calls when I tried to resolve the issue. She only sends nasty emails. This was a terrible experience from start to finish, and I would strongly caution others against using this terrible company. Do not get fooled by this company like I did! O'Sullivan's movers left approximately 225 square ft of furniture / items at my old home and then broke multiple stairs in my new home. I moved the remaining items myself and filed a claim for the stair damage. The reimbursement process was unreasonably slow, and the level of communication was inadequate. Although I was patient and understanding throughout the process O'Sullivan's was consistently unprofessional and fell far short of expectations. I would not use this company in the future. read more

I live in an 11 floor senior citizen apartment in Royal Oak. O'Sullivan moved a new resident into our building and completely blocked the handicapped entrance to/from our building and the apartment-designated parking lot across the street. There is ample free parking on the streets immediately surrounding the building. The movers, however, blocked the crosswalk for people with walkers and mobility issues despite being asked to move their truck multiple times. The drivers moved the truck ONE FOOT, giving the elderly exactly one foot in a snow bank around the truck. read more

Zero Stars. I booked them with a reservation for 5 movers and 3 trucks. I made it very clear that I had 20,000 lbs in a 20x30 storage and used a 55ft semi to move here. Everything was peachy and great to get my business. On the day of the move 8 movers showed up to the storage unit without me being told beforehand. They packed my stuff and broke a glass table(i didn't get their insurance so no big deal). My son in law was at the storage unit watching the transfer of my stuff from the storage to the trucks, when it was all packed and loaded and my son in law was at my house the movers showed up 40 minutes after him(getting drinks and smokes on my dime). They came to the house and loaded where we told them too but they packed fragile boxes under very heavy boxes which i didn't like. A few movers were real hustlers but one brought in one item at a time, literally one item!!! When they were gone i found they had left cigarette butts on my lawn and a box with the broken glass table and one of their drink cans in my garage and the way they just tossed stuff was unreal. I verified multiple times that they only hired professional movers and of course i shouldn't have taken their word for it. When they were done they came out with a bill for $941 over what i was originally told, they had multiple excuses like 3 trucks were used (we were always told 3 and it was in the quote) 8 movers came to finish faster instead of 5(this was never relayed to me or cleared by me and they actually didn't finish fast i had 4 movers pack my home in 3 hours and everything was wrapped and professionally packed, these guys didn't touch thing), then they tried to say i had way more than the 100 boxes i told when i booked ( i never said 100 anything and i told them 20k lbs which they wrote on the paper, do you think my boxes weighed 200lbs each? COME ON NOW! after all their excuses and all of these men standing in my kitchen looking at me because i was angry (I'm 76) i was pressured into paying the difference so they would leave my home, i called the owner or boss while they were here and he also gave excuse after excuse and then hung up. I called multiple times to speak to billing and was told she would be back on a day and when i called on that day she would be back the next day, this happened 3 times. My husband and I hired O'Sullivan to move us from our apartment to our new house, and our experience was profoundly disappointing from start to finish. They arrived late and were careless, causing over $1,000 in damage to our furniture and property. In addition to the financial losses, they broke several items in our boxes, took two hours longer than the quoted time, and failed to reassemble our beds and desks. They also damaged our freshly painted walls in more than ten places and took two large chunks out of our TV stand and dresser. We understand that some delays and minor damage can occur during a move, but the level of carelessness was unacceptable. They offered minimal apologies and continued to be careless as the move progressed. I have tried to contact the company twice by phone and once by email to discuss our experience, but have received no response. I strongly advise against using O'Sullivan Moving. After the move I called them the same day to file a couple of claims and they told me Christine O'Sullivan handles all claims and will get back with me, It has been 12 days and I have never received a call. I was really impressed by their excellent customer service, the price quote (even the "worst-case scenario" price), and the email confirmation that included an arrival window: "You will need to be available from 11:00am-1:00pm." I took their communication at face value and even moved my couches and heavy items outside ahead of time--especially important since I was leaving a verbally abusive ex and needed everything done while he was at work. But when moving day came, it turned into a nightmare: By 4:00pm, the movers had not arrived. I called the company twice--no answer. It began to rain, soaking my entire outdoor furniture and boxes. Awful. Pack yourself. My belongings went missing. The first time a mover threw the baseboard of my bed across the room almost hitting me in the head. They quote you a certain price then take 15-20 cigarette breaks because they are paid $140/ hour. Obviously they want to make you move as long as possible. When I questioned why my move was taking so long the man became angry and I began moving boxes into the truck myself. I moved 8 boxes into their truck while they were taking smoke breaks. When moving some big objects up & down stairs that's not easy and they did a great job not banging or scratching walls at all, so I really appreciated that. O'Sullivan did a fantastic job moving me in the pouring rain. They were efficient; When they loaded and unloaded they gave tons of care to my furniture and belongings. They had three men working and each one was both professional and industrious. They took care to put drop cloths down for the new carpet. They packed everything on the truck professionally, and made great decisions about when to disassemble and how best to protect things. By the end of the day - after I had seen the way they handled everything- I was so glad I had hired O'Sullivans! That's a great feeling to have at the end of the day, you know? The number one piece of advice I would give to anyone moving is this ... your movers will do a better job if *you* are organized. If you know where your stuff goes they'll put it there. My brother, Marc Broder was moved yesterday, Feb. 12, 2024 by 3 movers. They did an awesome job. Marc had a melt down anyway because he could not take everything from the basement. I felt I had a good moving crew. Randy was the driver, with his son Jason, and a long-time employee, Dennis. I would ask for them again. They moved quickly and took over. They were very experienced and efficient. I saw them stack seven boxes on the cart and wheel it with precision. They turned huge loads an inch from the wall, but never hit the walls. They watched how they loaded my antiques and padded everything in the truck as it was loaded. I was very glad they did not use the cellophane wrap you see others use. My bill was $200 more than my estimate, but an estimate is a guess. They did not waste time. They needed the extra time to do the job. I am very happy I chose them. If I could give 0 stars I would. Moving while pregnant and already having a toddler was stressful, O'Sullivan only made it worse! They charged $900 over the estimated price, and broke two of our dressers during the move. I was told they'd submit a claim to their insurance and hear back within 90 days. I called for an update around day 60 and was told not to call them and there would be no updates. I've never received any follow up or compensation. Employees repeatedly gave incorrect information about the process for complaints. Christine O'Sullivan doesn't respond in a timely manner, and rarely responds at all. She was very rude to deal with. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are crooks and rip you off. We had them move us out to their storage unit and then to our new house. Setting up the move and moving us out of the house was smooth and we were optimistic about the move. Then they charged us way way more than what we were quoted when they moved us into our new house. One of the movers (Dennis) complained the entire time. He moved things into the wrong rooms because he didn't feel like going up stairs. When asked to move them to the appropriate areas he gave us attitude and pushback After they left and money was paid my wife and I started noticing things smashed, shoe marks on our boxes, and two of our totes missing (presumed to be stolen). One of our tables has hinges and was taken apart at some point during the transition and bent. Now the table top cannot be secured. They will not fix it or replace it because it fell under the $250 deductible. Christine informed us we are not getting reimbursed. Several other things are broken or missing and we have to eat it. This company does not stand by their goal about customer satisfaction. Now, a few months after we've moved in and unpacked all our boxes, we are still missing a few boxes containing valuables worth we'll over $250. On a side note, it's interesting how such a reliable company has to have Christy O., also Christine O'Sullivan write a great review to boost their rating. In response to christine - O'Sullivan Moving & Storage Co. I posted a picture of a crushed box which your movers loaded and unloaded. It's crushed because obviously your movers don't know to place heavy boxes on the bottom and more fragile ones on the top. Secondly, the durabilt boxes had your employees bookmarks all over them. Why are they standing on our boxes?!? As for signing the form, we informed your employee we were leaving the country the next day and didn't have time to go through all the boxes to make sure they were there. Great availability, but you'd better be there to supervise. Did not wrap tops of lamps, did not hand clothing in a clothing box with bar hanger, DIdn't wrap ANY wall hangings or paintings and poked holes in the brown paper backing of several of them. Did not wrap and pack antique dolls separately, so the $500. collector's doll just shoved into a random box got all cracked up. A painted, decorative flower pot of a good size was broken, too. I'm still so upset a year later that I have hesitated to finish unpacking everything because I do not want to discover anymore broken items. Very disappointed. read more

We have used O'Sullivan twice for moves and overall I have been satisfied. However, I will not use them again. I don't typically write reviews and I'm a very understanding person. However, there was a misunderstanding during our recent move and rather than follow up with us, staff have not returned our calls for any resolution to this concern/issue. My husband gave our patio table and chairs to one of the moving men because we didn't want to put it in storage and don't have room at our rental (looking for new home). Our newer umbrella and stand were in the table and my husband told the head mover that this piece was to come to our rental townhouse. The gentleman taking the table must have misunderstood and took all of it. We called O'Sullivan and they were going to figure out a solution and call us back. We have not heard back and it's been over a month. This umbrella went with our other patio furniture and was over $400 with the stand. O'Sullivan Moving was a bright spot in a super stressful move during COVID-19. We expected our move of a 3 bedroom house would take 6-8 hours. Our last moving company took 8-10 hours (no packing). We were told they would arrive between 8:30-9:30am. They arrived at the door at exactly 8:30am. I gave them a overview of the job. In less than 1.5 hours, they disassembled furniture, load two trucks, and we were on our way to our new house. Our entire move was completed before noon. It was insane. They left and I felt like "now what!?!" I thought we would be moving all day. The team was top notch. We had two little ones around the house since our daycare is closed. They didn't seem to mind and were happy to work around them. The whole team was friendly, motivated, and were fun to be around-definitely above and beyond what one would expect. Better yet, we ended up paying LESS than quoted. I'm glad we took the advice of many neighbors who recommended O'Sullivan. They did not disappoint. P.S. I also saw them spraying down their trucks with disinfectant after the move. read more

I have a storage unit at O'Sullivan. I have contacted Christine multiple times for 3 weeks and no return call. I also talked to the receptionist who took all my information and expressed to me that she would refer my questions to Christine and guess what "still no call". This is extremely unprofessional. You want your monthly payment but you cannot return a customers call. I am moving my storage unit as quick as I possibly can. I wish I could give a zero because I would. If I could give two ratings it would look like this: four stars for the packing/moving crew and one star for the office staff. O'Sullivan packed and moved us on June 3rdand 4th. The crew doing the work was great, for the most part. They were courteous, professional and friendly. After packing our belongings, we even asked to have the same crew move us the following day. I didn't give five stars because there were a few mishaps: someone put a wet thermos on my wood table and stained it, and a few items are missing. These mishaps are the reason for one star for the office staff. Tracey, on the phones, is very friendly and did her best to route us to the right person. The problem lies with Christine O'Sullivan. We were told that Christine is the person to deal with missing or damaged items and claims. We left four voice mails, one email and even asked our initial contact, Bill, to expedite things for us. Nothing worked. Initially all we wanted was to see if there was a lost and found, in case our items were left on the truck. It is almost two months and still no response from Christine. I would like to file a claim on these items, but I can't get a response from her to start the process. We were told that Christine is the Office Manager, and we can't go any higher. It's a shame that one person can ruin the reputation of an entire company. I would not recommend O'Sullivan Moving company for the above reasons. I had no desire to air these complaints in public, but it appears that this is the only way to get Christine's attention. Even when my kitchen table didn't initially fit through the doorway of my new home they brainstormed and we were able to get it in! All of my boxes were labeled and put in the appropriate rooms. It took 3 hours. As I said above my movers we fast and efficient and I had everything packed and labeled for efficiency's sake. O'Sullivan Moving charges the minimum, which for my move was 6.75 hours. I knew what I signed up for when booking them. But I told them during the initial quoting process it should take like 4 hours at most and if they could get it down. They said no it will take 7 hours! This is the only frustrating thing. I hate to do it, but I gotta bring my 5-star review WAY down. I think 3-stars is still a decent review, but here's what we found in the couple weeks after we moved into our home. As mentioned in the last review, we had a couple lampshades that were damaged - one came off the truck damaged and the other was forced inside another shade, which had to be broken in order to remove it. Also mentioned in the previous review, the movers kind of loaded our things in the basement in such a way that it was hard to get to everything. Over the last week or so we've began to organize our boxed things - SIDENOTE - our new home is currently undergoing renovation, so we didn't need immediate access to everything right away. Upon moving things around, we found out two expensive, vintage items of ours were severely damaged. First item is a Mid Century Modern Danish wood framed loveseat - one of the legs was totally broken off. Second item is a 1955 console record player that appears to be majorly manhandled; one of the plastic dials is missing, and several panels on it are loose and detached. Both were in perfect condition when they were moved. The loveseat is hardwood and leather, and has essentially never been sat in - just sat in a side room for us, and from the family (whom we know) it had the same life. The record player was rarely used and never had a scratch on it. Apparently the insurance claim process with O'Sullivan requires that you make a claim within 10 days of the move. While that's clearly stated on the moving contract, it seems like a stretch that anyone can go through a household of goods within 10 days after a move. Anyway, I made the claim with the office and was told the following: Lampshades should be crated and are not reimbursable because they're fragile. I get it, but the one was FORCED into the other - that wasn't an accidental break, they were handled inappropriately. Regarding the loveseat, apparently 45 days after the fact, one of the movers recollects there being a crack in the leg, so they're not responsible. Memory is a magical thing. And lastly, the record player can just be nailed back together. Even if they did honor any of the damage, under the standard insurance plan, it would only be worth $30 which is less than the $250 deductible, so therefore nothing. I'm really disappointed. Granted, they looked at my claim after the 10 day window, the guys were great, the company's flexibility was wonderful and timeliness was also great, but these items were manhandled. Between moving twice and having my things stored in their warehouse, I paid over $2200 and ended up with damaged items. I'm not happy. I would recommend them, but MAKE SURE you take photographs of your rare/vintage items that you are concerned with protecting. read more

I used this company a while back to move from Rochester, MI to Royal Oak, MI. Getting an estimate was challenging. I called and left several messages, and no one got back to me. After I was eventually connected to the right person, the individual was very kind and helpful. The estimate was done very quickly and easily. The movers arrived on time, and they quickly moved the boxes into the truck. I was so impressed with their efficiency. The subsequent move-in was equally impressive. I found absolutely no damage on the walls, and I found absolutely no damaged items. I was very impressed. Also, all of the movers were very kind and professional. However, I was less pleased when I reviewed the itemized bill at a later date. I realized that they charged me for more hours than they worked. They charged me for 3 hours of work, and they were only there for 1.5 hours. Originally, I believed that 3 hours corresponded to their minimums. However, when I looked at the minimum of their quote that they gave me, it corresponded to less than 3 hours of their work. I was just left frustrated that they over charged me, especially after I gave them a substantial tip. Overall, I would still recommend them. They were very professional, on-time, and cared well for my items. However, I would make sure to clearly understand the estimate and understand how it would change based on the work they do. Despite my renter's terrible move and the attitude of the employees, O'Sullivan moved heaven and earth to make things right - for both my renter and myself. Christine got in touch with the renter and squared her away and then contacted me about finishing the move the crew had refused. This incident was an anomaly in all the interactions I've had with O'Sullivan over the years, and they didn't waste any time addressing it and making it right. I THANK YOU, Ms. Christine!!! I'd recommend using O'Sullivan for any move. If you have a problem, they'll take care of it immediately. I could not have asked for a better outcome to this unusual situation. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have used O'Sullivan movers for several moving projects for almost 10 years and been over the moon with their service. A couple of weeks ago, O'Sullivan moved my renter and I was aghast at how poor the service was. First, the movers refused to move all her stuff. Part of it was a 'miscommunication', part of it was "This is what we're taking and no more. You have more? Not my problem" - DIRECT QUOTE. Then this same "I don't want to work any more than I have to" mover attempted to extort an extra $125 from her for the move. I'm moving to CA and had fully intended to use O'Sullivan. Not any more, not after what I witnessed when my renter moved. I can't run the risk of getting to the other side of the country and running into 'billing' issues or a last minute refusal to take my household items. They broke several glass items even though they were well bubble wrapped; lost family heirloom large brass pot and water damage to pillows. Before I go into detail, I wish I had the ability to rate the moving personnel and office personnel separately. The moving staff were timely, friendly, professional, and appeared to really enjoy their work. They made moving less stressful, and dare I say fun. They deserve better pay, and all of the accolades for the positive end of my transaction with O'Sullivan. The experience I had with the moving staff was not representative of how I was treated by estimator and office management. I used O'Sullivan for my move, and the experience was fairly seamless. The staff who wrote up my initial quote kept getting my name wrong, which is okay the first time, and irritating to follow... and also not the most significant as compared to the whole. At any rate, my quote was fine, and come moving day, the efficiency of the movers left me smack dab in the middle of my budgeted cost of moving. My boyfriend moved into a new place a few weeks later, and I set up his move with O'Sullivan. There was some initial confusion early on with the estimator regarding who to contact to establish the quote. I spoke with the staff about having both packing and moving services, and detailed questions were asked pertaining to how many rooms, contents of said rooms, how many boxes I thought we would need, etc. I have never paid for packing services in past moves, so I had no idea what to anticipate regarding cost, documentation, etc. I received the quote, and did not see anything remiss, so I scheduled the move, and thought that was it. On moving day, the two (lovely) gentlemen who arrived to assist were unaware that we had requested packing AND moving services, and thus were not prepared to move... and neither were we. They kindly made some calls, re-drew the contract including packing services, and agreed to come back the following day ready to pack and move. That was great. However, we were charged for them to show up on our original move day (mileage, and another fee) even though they didn't have the correct information to complete the move. Here's where O'Sullivan's lack of customer service comes into play. Their moving staff assured us we need only make a call to the owner, explain the situation, and he'd likely do what he could to resolve the issue, and repair any damages. I felt reassured whatever hiccup we'd experienced this weekend, I can simply make a call to resolve it come Monday. I called today to speak with the owner, Mike O'Sullivan. I was given another staff person, who will remain nameless in this review. (I do see O'Sullivan has a presence on Yelp, and am happy to speak with another individual from the office-end who is better able to hear my concerns, and address them appropriately.) I called to discuss issues I had with the move, and was immediately met with passive aggressive language, half-apologies, demeaning tone, and insinuating I lack basic intelligence to interpret a contract. I ended the call by offering that I'd called to have a conversation and did not want to be further insulted. I do see positive reviews on Yelp for O'Sullivan, and that is largely why I went with them. I will not be using O'Sullivan again. I will not be quiet about my poor customer service experience with O'Sullivan, and it saddens me that there is such a disparity between customer experience related to moving staff, and office staff. I would hire the moving staff again, but given that I have to go through the office staff, I would just assume find another local moving company to entrust with my next move. **Update: Following the response from O'Sullivan, I thought I should add an addendum to my review above. The moving staff that arrived for our scheduled move Saturday June 2nd did go on to other jobs that day. They informed us of this when they arrived Sunday. They did not go home as you mentioned. No business was really lost. America is made up of an amalgamation of nations and peoples. My "American" name was butchered on several occasions by O'Sullivan's experienced relocation specialist. Your excuse is either ignorance, or simply thinly veiled racism. Furthermore, the field for packing was blank because your experienced relocation specialist was not listening. The miscommunication was on O'Sullivan's end. Best practice in customer service is to actually say, "I'm sorry", own mistakes to better the customer/business relationship, and improve the possibility of more referrals. To deny events happened, information was misinterpreted on O'Sullivan's end, or new staff might have been inappropriate or ill-equipped to handle my call, is a demonstration of poor business practices. read more

Jesse and Dave helped us move from a little house in Royal Oak to a high-rise in downtown Detroit. They were fantastic from start to finish: professional, quick-moving and careful with our belongings. Everything got to our new home in perfect shape with zero damage; I can't say I've ever had a moving company accomplish that! They also made sure to get all of our furniture and boxes in the appropriate rooms, so we wouldn't have to lug them around later. These guys are top-notch. Absolute Pros!! I've dealt with at least one hundred contractors over decades of rehabbing homes and recently had the absolute pleasure of working with O'Sullivan Moving. From the sales process to the last item moved it was seamless and easy. Justin and Dennis knew exactly what they were doing and worked tirelessly with my wife and I with every piece of furniture. They didn't bump a wall, they didn't break a thing AND they didn't bring a bunch of attitude other than some smiles and positive comments. Guys like this are a rare find. Also, unlike many things I'd rather pay hourly like we did for the move. I would not recommend this company. Two Durabilt totes were lost in transport, presumed stolen. We purchased thirteen totes for our move and only received eleven back. Upon questioning the company, they sent us a picture of our boxes in a transport container, as if that proved they were there. It didn't. You could only see a handful of boxes in the picture and we had an entire trailer full. We were able to recall what we had packed in the two missing boxes and supplied a list of missing items to the company. The company refused to reimburse us or replace the items, claiming the items did not cost more than the $250 deductible, which they did. Also, note that we had paid $80.00 for insurance on up to $20,000 worth of damage. The moving cost was nearly four times the price that was quoted. I discussed this with the member of the team who gave me the original quote and he said, "I don't really know anything about that, but this is the price." Again, he was the employee who gave me the original quote. I paid because we were leaving the country in a few hours and I didn't have time to sort it out. The movers took apart our coffee table, damaged the hinges and the tabletop, and now the tabletop can no longer be secured to the coffee table. One of the workers even stated that this was damaged in transport and it was the company's responsibility to fix it. The company refused to fix this. Furthermore, during the unloading process, there was one particular employee who was profoundly rude. I believe his name was Dennis. He complained any time he had to move boxes upstairs and at one point had an outburst because he unloaded boxes into the wrong room. Another mover noticed this and asked me. I told them that, yes, it was incorrect, but I would move the boxes myself. The second mover started fixing the problem while Dennis proceeded to blame my husband for incorrect directions. Not only did I witness my husband giving appropriate directions, but the location was also clearly written on each box. Every mover had a habit of stacking three or four boxes on their little cart and taking it to whatever room the top box belonged to. I eventually had to stop them as they came through the house and point out where each box should go according to the label. Despite the workers being terse about the job they were being paid handsomely to do, none of them had any problem walking out onto our back deck to take photos of the view of Lake Huron. Finally, due to a renovation on our new home, the staircase inside was not accessible. There was access to the second floor via a sturdy and safe outside staircase as well as an elevator. We permitted the movers to use the elevator for larger items and educated them on how to appropriately use it. Of course they quickly stopped using the stairs all together and misused elevator, which resulted in the cable spooling incorrectly and fraying. This will cost us several thousand dollars to fix. They also put a deep gauge in our wood floor and a ding in our drywall. We did not report this to the company because we could not prove it. Although, in the end it didn't matter because we could prove everything else and they still refused to right their wrongs. In summary, O'Sullivan's professionalism, customer service, and quality of service are all extremely poor. They failed in every possible way. I would not recommend this company. Update based on Christine's response: Most importantly, as Christine reads about the inconsistencies and gross negligence of her company and workers, her response is to attack and insult. It's laughable, yet disappointing. I'm not wasting any more time on this except to point out a few discrepancies in your unprofessional reply. 1. I was aware there were two separate quotes, the second one was given to me inside the home we were moving out of AFTER everything was packed. 2. As for the inaccurate estimation of the amount of stuff we had, that's simply a lie. You were given pictures of everything we had in every room in our home BEFORE you even arrived. Your company sent two trucks in case they needed more and didn't need to use the second. So there was no misunderstanding there. 3. Not sure why the timeline of posting our review matters to you. It's not suspicious. We were out of the country, starting new jobs, and we had a baby. Not to mention we waited until we unpacked the very last box to be sure we were reporting accurate information in our reviews. 4. Each concern I've outlined in my reviews have been echoed by other reviewers, not just my husband. That's not a coincidence. It's a pattern. 5. Christine, you've placed a personal review on Yelp of your own company at five stars so there's no reason why you can review your company and my husband and I can't both offer our own reviews. Bait and Switch O'Sullivan Moving seemed like a great company, at first. We are in the process of moving. In anticipation of that move, I requested quotes from a few moving companies. Ultimately, I approached O'Sullivan. I spoke with their representative, and explained to him that I needed to move out on a Saturday, have them store our stuff, and deliver it to the new house the following the Friday. I received a quote that seemed pretty reasonable and approved the move. The guys showed up on time and ready to work. The moved our stuff efficiently, with care, and acted very professionally. Admittedly, it took more time than we anticipated. Therefore, I was not surprised when, on the following Tuesday, my credit card was charged, and the amount was a little bit above the quoted price. No worries, as I said we took a bit longer than planned. Where this company blatantly pulled a bait and switch is, on that same Tuesday, after they have all of our belongings, they sent me a second quote that essentially doubles the price of the move. No where in that initial email from them does it say that the included estimate is for only on half of the job!! Over the phone they talked down to me, making it sound like doubling the cost is common practice for this business and I should have known. Knowing that they won't release our belongings unless we pay them, why would I, or anyone for that matter, approve the work without knowing the FULL cost?! They clearly are deliberately deceiving people in order to hold their household goods hostage and extort them for money. Stay away from this company at all costs.
