Below are my thoughts on the food today: The edamame was lukewarm and had a decent amount of salt on it, but was not hot and was a bit mushy. The miso soup had to be the biggest letdown so far. It tasted like water and had absolutely no miso soup flavor whatsoever. On the bright side, there was no absence of tofu or seaweed which I loved! The 49ers roll was painful to eat because of the thick lemon slices on top. They used to be thin and enjoyable to eat, now it's gross having to crunch through the thick lemon skin to eat the roll. And finally the Philly roll, this is my favorite roll here because the price is great and the roll itself it usually great. They used to make it with smoked salmon and put a nice dried topping on top of the roll to give it great flavor. Unfortunately today I was unimpressed with this roll. The salmon did not taste smoked, and the overall flavor was quite bland. I would come back here because I love the vibe inside the restaurant and I have a history with this restaurant. I know they can do better, but if this was my first time here I'm not sure I would come back. As a new customer, you may find it difficult ordering on your cell phone and the cell service is quite spotty in this area depending on what service provider you have. As far as I know, they do not offer free WiFi during business hours to assist in connecting to the ordering website which can be quite annoying having to load the webpage without a stable connection.

The combination of the very light broths and the very light sauces is... very light. I guess someone might say you "taste the ingredients" more compared to the vastly superior hot pot where you add some flavor via the cooking medium and have a wide variety of flavorful ingredients to make a customized sauce. I can somewhat understand the perspective of wanting to mostly taste the flavors of the raw ingredients... but I don't agree with it. To me shabu shabu is basically hot pot minus flavor, and hence kind of a waste. I will say, pricing is relatively good here. Our bill was under $150 for a ton of food with everyone feeling very full. The restaurant itself is very clean and they have a large and convenient parking lot. If only it was a hot pot restaurant it definitely had all the ingredients for a 5 star review.

This time we ordered the Rainbow Roll and the Crunch Roll off the Special Rolls menu, and then opted for Shrimp Tempura Roll as well. The rolls are always delicious, my favorite of the three being the crunch roll. Something about that crunch is just so satisfying! The menu is extensive and they have pictures for the rolls which is great so that you can see what you're getting. There's so many that I want to try. I'll just have to keep going back!
