Dr. Wexler is an excellent dentist. He truly cares about his patients, and it shows. Marcia and his staff are equally wonderful. They are very knowledgeable and professional. They are helpful, efficient, patient and kind. They made sure I was comfortable and allayed my fears. I had a complicated root canal and two crowns put in. Because I am mobility challenged, Dr. Wexler was able to get it all done in one visit, and he did a fantastic job. He has all the latest equipment. He explained everything and answered all of my questions. I was taken at the time of my appointment and didn't have to wait. I would give more stars if I could. We briefly switched to a different practitioner when my insurance changed, then decided to opt for the more expensive plan so we could go back to Dr. Wexler. That should speak for itself. Best dentist I've ever had. He replaced a crown immediately with no long wait as with other dentists. And he filled in a sharp edge halfway up my left front tooth, the result of decades of wear after a playground fall when I was about 7. The tooth feels and looks brand new. He was incredibly understanding, his staff the model of what a dentist should have, and my problem was taken care of for that moment. he also referred me to a very fine oral surgeon who then did the rest. Dr. Chaim Wexler is hands down the best dentist I have ever been to. Go here if you can! I've had my teeth cleaned, cavities filled, crowns replaced, root canals performed, and new crowns put in. Dr. Wexler explains everything clearly and answers all questions. Plus if something is not necessary he believes in a wait and see approach. He's also got great technology right in the office. He has a machine that actually sculpts a crown which you can watch if you're interested. Most dentist offices have to send out for a crown to be made while you wear a temp until it comes in. Marcia in the office is very friendly and explains everything ahead of time about insurance and payment. They have had a few dental hygenists over the years and all have been excellent and very thorough. I cannot recommend Dr. Wexler's office enough. I'd give him 10 stars if Yelp let me. read more

Making the appointment: The office manager Marcia Meyers was incredibly kind & professional, knowledgeable, and most importantly thorough. I reached out to Dr. Wexler's office as a new patient, with private insurance. It was the end of the day and the office was closed the following day, but instead of hurrying me off the phone Marcia listened, asked questions where needed, and connected with my insurance company to let me know the exact amount of my co-pay for my upcoming visit. Utter professional. First Bonus: Dr. Wexler has Sunday office hours. As a person who work 9-5 M-F, finding times for dental visits is difficult. The Equipment Dr. W clearly invests money back into his office. The equipment is cutting edge and produced amazing results. Particularly the teeth imaging equipment that was used to make my crown. It was done same day, in house, under 30 mins. The Work Exceptional work! Dr. W took great care and detail to ensure the crown looks natural (I was absolutely terrified it wouldn't), but it looks amazing. Legit, absolute artistry. It's amazing the work he does in such efficient time. Completely happy! Second Bonus: Because Marcia is great at what she does, the cost was exactly what I was told, no surprises. Dr. Wexler, Marcia, and the team were great. I recently had a root canal procedure and a crown put in place. I hadn't been to a dentist in a long time due to fairly nerve wracking experiences long in the past. They never made me feel "weird" about being so uncomfortable in the beginning. One thing I took away from this office is that everyone is very aware and goes out of the way to treat you as you should be treated. The Dr. asked how much or little detail I wanted about my root canal procedure and made sure I knew what I needed to. He very thoroughly answered my questions and let me watch as his technology rendered and later milled the new tooth. Very fascinating. I've recommended a few of my close friends who also do not "like the dentist" to Dr. Wexler's office. Dr. Wexler and his staff could not have been any more pleasant or professional. Dr. Wexler was thorough and kind, Marcia made making an appointment a breeze, Mychelle, his dental hygienist was beyond knowledgeable about what she was doing, gave me tips on how to keep my teeth pearly white and made sure my goodie bag was full of..well....goodies. Maybe I'm easily amused, but the fact that I can walk out of a dental office actually having enjoyed myself should speak volumes of the service I received. I used to go to a dentist in midtown, and while it was slightly more convenient to get there (that is, if you consider dealing with midtown craziness as easy), I'm pretty happy with Dr. Wexler. His prices are definitely reasonable -- he charges roughly half of what I used to pay in midtown for the same work -- and he's more efficient than my old dentist. The office staff is friendly and I can always get an appointment that fits my work schedule. I'm definitely happy I made the switch! read more

It is an high tech office, and it is very comforting to feel that you are in competent hands with the latest technology. I really enjoy my visits to Dr. Wexler's office. Michelle, the hygenist and Marcia his admin. assistant are both really wonderful. Also, the office is conveniently located off the A express train. Like many yelpers, I did some invesigating before arriving, and he is much more affordable and credible than most dentists in Manhattan. He is a professor at Columbia University, so he must be doing something right. Also, he gave me an excellent deal on my fillings, even though I don't have insurance. All of my fillings have been completed, and I will update if something happens in the future, but overall I am very happy. read more

Went back today for my second cleaning with Dr. Wexler. Couldn't be more pleased with how thorough the staff is with their cleaning, how clean the office is, and the fact that I didn't even have time to take my coat off before they were ready to take me in and get started. The location of the office is also so central for anyone living in Inwood and Washington Heights. Before going to Dr. Wexler's office, I was seeing a dentist in midtown (with fancy, ostentatious offices) for whom I always had to wait and by whom I always had painful cleanings from assistants who did not seem to care at all about my many winces. So happy I switched, and have recommended this office to my friends and coworkers. Make the switch if the office has space in the schedule to take you. Worth it, 100%. read more

My entire family of 4 has been going to Dr. Wexler for more than a decade. He is an EXCELLENT, experienced, extremely competent dentist. He has a gentle technique and uses the latest high tech equipment. With the CEREC technique, you can get a root canal and crown in just one visit! I like that he is very calm and soft-spoken. I ended up going to Dr. Wexler, mainly because his office was close to where I lived. I researched him before I went and discovered that he teaches Computer Dentistry at Columbia...so me thinks...legit. Sorry to say, 3 years and about $7,000 later in dental work, I have vowed to only go to dentists that come highly recommended. Dr. Wexler, with all the charm of a drugged turtle, convinced me that I would be crazy to not have $600 porcelin "cerac" fillings put in my mouth, saying that they would be likely to last me nearly my whole life, whereas the plastic ones would surely break in a few years. So I spent the $2400 (4 fillings)--OUT OF POCKET, living in NYC on a non-profit salary mind you, thinking that I was making the most responsible long-term decision for the health of my mouth. He made me feel like getting anything other than these "cerac" fillings was a waste of time and money. The procedure(s) was horrible...took a LONG time (and I went 3 times for all the various fillings over the course of a few months), and after each procedure, as the novicane wore off, I was in intense pain. The man has the personality of a shoebox, and is rough as all hell in the mouth. Treats you like a computer program. So only a few months after these were done and I was living in CA, they started cracking. 2 of the ones that cracked, when repaired, went to root canals...ROOT CANALS, in case you haven't had the pleasure....SUCK, and are very expensive, about $2,000 for the canal and a crown. The other 2 that have cracked have been replaced with regular fillings...still not fun or cheap. At any rate, if you care at all about your teeth and/or don't have a few K's to blow on dental work....look elsewhere!!!! read more

Wow. Just called and the receptionist was one of the rudist people I have ever had the displeasure of speaking with over the phone. She bombarded me with questions, raised her voice, and then said that her office has been conducting business for thirty years a certain way and if I couldn't answer her questions I should find an appointment elsewhere. Then she hung up on me!! Without even giving me a chance to respond and give her the information she needed! Clearly this office does NOT want new customers. I had a root canal done with Dr. Wexler, and it was the worst experience ever. I got a few shots of novacaine, but could still feel pain when he was operating. I repeatedly told him of my discomfort and he was very condescending in his demeanor, and was very rough. Months after the operation, my tooth is still hurting. I have been to a lot of dentists because I have moved several times, and have had one other root canal in the past, but I have never left a dentist feeling so uncomfortable and unhappy. Dr. Wexler was cold, insensitive, and arrogant, and was most concerned about following through with the operation so that he could charge for it. I would not recommend him to anyone. read more

I knew something was terribly wrong with my mouth for a long time. All of my teeth were killing me and terribly sensitive. I could barely eat or drink and I had not been to a dentist in almost seven years due to lack of insurance. Though now I know that a cleaning is not expensive at all. I called my friend on a weekend to ask her if she could recommend a dentist because I had never seen one in the city. She gave me the number to Dr. Wexler's office which is a mere ten blocks from my apartment. I called the number and left a message. Marcia the receptionist called me back on Sunday and I explained my problem to her. I was very worried about what might be wrong and the cost of any procedures. She walked me through multiple scenarios and made me feel much more comfortable about what I was experiencing. I work Monday through Friday and it is very difficult for me to get off of work. She worked it out so that I could be fit in after I got off work the next evening. I called her multiple times to work out payment options and she was extremely flexible and helpful. I went to my appointment the next evening at around 7:00. I had x-rays taken that showed I needed two root canals and had multiple cavities. One of the root canals needed to be done immediately but I was leaving for vacation on Friday and had no time between then and Friday to make an appointment. Even though Dr. Wexler was leaving the country the next morning he let me stay and performed the root canal that night. He explained everything that was going to happen and though I was extremely nervous I was confident that he knew exactly what he was doing. I left a few hours later with the procedure finished and my post and crown. There was no need to make the annoying follow up appointment for the crown as he made it right there in his office. I know that he did not leave his office till at the earliest 10:00 that night. I have never had a dentist and his office be so accommodating and helpful. I spoke with them Sunday night and 24 hours later I had everything completed. Everyone in his office was extremely nice and did their best to make me feel calm since I was a nervous wreck. I have spoken to multiple dentists in Richmond about my next root canal that I need to have done and the prices they quoted me were the same as Dr. Wexler's but you have to make multiple appointments to have the whole procedure done which I am not looking forward to now that I have been spoiled. I am so glad that my friend recommended Dr. Wexler to me and if I were not moving to Richmond would definitely make all further appointments with him. read more

I found Dr. Wexler after visiting other dentists who were incredibly expensive and not very helpful in explaining the procedures that were necessary. Dr. Wexler is both professional and incredibly accommodating. Whereas other dentists simply provided recommendations for treatments, Dr. Wexler strategized a treatment plan based on both necessity and the timing of my insurance coverage. Bad!!!! Don't wasted your time and money for this dentist! The doctor isn't friendly and interacts with the customer. Lack of cares!! Did the implant and still have the problem with my teeth while I'm eating, didn't do 100% job but LOVE to charges the customer 110%!! Ridiculous!! They owed me $20 for DELIBERATELY CHARGED me which was supposedly free or cover by my insurance to do the cleaning! And when I came back to do the implant, I just said you guys owed me last time, the assistant lady (with silly peculiar eyes while talking) said, "I deducted from your bill". Marcia, Mychelle, and Dr. Wexler are an amazing team! It's a rarity when a patient can actually say that they LOOK FORWARD to going to the dentist. Marcia is efficient at scheduling your visits and she sends reminders via email; Mychelle is the best hygienist I have ever had - thorough, knowledgable, and friendly with a sense of humour; and Chaim is what you'd expect from a dentist - no nonsense and asks the right questions. Worst dental experience of my life, stay far away from this dentist if you want to keep your teeth! He saw me only briefly and recommended a bunch of dental work I did not need. I ended up getting a small cavity filled, and the whole side of my face and jaw hurt for weeks afterwards. The tooth itself was so sensitive I couldn't chew on it for months and ended up having to see another dentist to fix what should have a been a minor procedure. Going to Dr. Wexler's office was an excellent experience. The staff was friendly and personable and I have never had a better dental hygienist than the one they use at this office. I think her name was Michelle. The receptionist was very friendly as well, and informed me that Dr. Wexler teaches classes at Columbia university, the other place I was considering going for dental work. I chose to go to Dr. Wexler, though, because I did not have to wait for hours on end in a waiting room, and I got an experienced professional to work on my teeth. Also, the price for cleaning and checkup ended up being the same at Columbia and Dr. Wexler's office. The office was clean and very orderly, the equipment was new, and the staff was informative and seemed to have a genuine desire to try to help me. I would recommend Dr. Wexler to anyone. read more

Can you believe this Dentist refused to see my 2 kids because one missed appointment. Just 1 They claim 3 but thats a lie. Now they want to charge 150 dollar surcharge because they do not trust us??? They made me feel very comfortable and he even responded to an email that I sent him about my dental issue. The office was clean and had up to date equipment. I wish I could make this no stars whatsoever!!! There is definitely something wrong with your practice. My son, who your receptionist was so rude to, is 23 years old. He is not a child!!! He is a man who holds a job in New York City. It was his first time making an appointment on his own and he therefore did not know what insurance information he would need to make an appointment. Instead of having your receptionist hang up on him, she could have been kind enough to tell him what was needed and ask him to please call back another time.
