I will say I did not even have the chance to book an appointment because the woman who answered the phone was extremely rude, distracted, and more than mildly incompetent. She called me back to answer an online request for an appointment and when I answered she started talking and then asked me to hold on for approximately five minutes. She then repeated herself and then just stopped talking. I said hello and she apologized repeated herself again and upon further questioning could not give me a straight answer on what my appointment would entail for teeth whitening, how much it would cost, or timing. She did not appear knowledgable about the services offered or reluctant to give anymore information. It was so unpleasant I could not imagine the practice experience would be any better. The dentists may be great but if the person answering the phone is off putting then barrier to entry is too high to maintain a successful practice. read more

I want to be clear that this is not a reflection on the care providers here which we had nothing be great experiences with, but rather how the office/practice is managed. We had a frustrating experience including a mix-up in scheduling with my daughter which we provided an honest feedback on based on their automated feedback request. We then received a call day of our next appointment, informing us that they are cancelling our daughter's appointment unless we would pull down our review--essentially holding us hostage. I am literally dumbfounded at the request and nerve! Holding an appointment hostage??? This is completely unprofessional! I would avoid this practice at all costs. read more

Went to this office for years with our whole family. When our 6 year old little girl had cavities to deal with, they upsold us Nitrous oxide for her (very pricey). Then they cut the appointment short and said they have to finish the second cavity next time and charge us all over again for the gas. Spoke to office manager several times and she kept insisting they are in the right. Promised to call us back after discussing with her boss and she never did. After this experience, we decided to all move to another dentist office. They lost our entire families business over their inconsideration and greed. read more

Avoid this practice or you will regret it! Dr. Kendall and Dr. Hanna Heck make so many costly mistakes almost every procedure and then double and triple charge you to fix their own mistakes. And if you're in pain after a procedure they tell you too bad it's "out of their scope" and to go to the E.R. because they've already got your money and don't care at all about their patients actual well being. An absolute nightmare. Somebody on their staff appears to have made up a series of lies about their interactions with our insurance company. Originally I assumed that it must be some sort of miscommunication. No provider would actually lie about submitting an request to insurance, and the response from the insurance company. But I was wrong! After spending many hours on the phone with the insurance company it has become clear that Park Smiles is just making things up, and trying to charge us significantly more than they even would have received from our insurance company. I will be happy to see these people in court. Maybe before they show up they will attempt to find the documentation from their supposed interaction with our insurance company, and realize that somebody on their staff is making things up. I had a great experience with Dr. Hanna Heck for my root canals and tooth abscess. I felt comfortable. She was fluent and was clear on communication throughout the process. You can also choose the music you'd like to play during the visit. I will come here for my future dental visits and highly recommend it to my friends. For the crowns, Dr. Shari Ginsberg makes it at the office. She is great too! What's best is that they work as a team and give you a clear diagnosis of your teeth. read more

Scam artists. My family and I were told on 4 separate occasions that Park Smiles participates with our dental (Guardian) insurance. My husband, 18mos old son and I went for an annual cleaning/check up. They charged us $500 "while they sorted out the insurance" and assured us we would be reimbursed by insurance. The visit was adequate - the Dr. Kendall spent about 1 minute with us. The dental tech was gentle. It turns they dont take insurance and it was a scam to get patients to a new office that had just opened. BE WARY OF THEM! read more

I had all four wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Cohen recently. I found him from Google Search. And picked him based on comparisons done of dentist in the area. He did an excellent job in consulting with me and addressing necessary steps to take before and after the operation. This was my first time ever having surgery (for anything) so I was naturally very apprehensive. Afterward, I was remarkably impressed with how smooth the sedation was and how swift the procedure took place. Dr. Cohen and his team were truly THE BEST in executing the entire operation in a way that felt so comforting and normal. I was delighted by the technology and set up within the office as well, from the waiting room to the operating room. Funny story: After my surgery, the person that was supposed to escort me home (my girlfriend) got caught up at work. Even though I insisted I could leave on my own (haha...), Dr. Cohen promptly provided me with someone from his staff to accompany me in an Uber to get home safely. Within 3 days I healed fine and was pain-free. Huge thanks to Park Smiles NYC and their team. Would recommend to anyone, especially for those needing any type of oral surgery. read more

So wrong diagnosis + very mean front desk who laugh on their customers. I went to see one of the dentist Dr Greg to get an exam, right after his wonderful hygienist cleaned my teeth. He told me that I have to redo 3 crowns because not sealed as the conclusion of his exam he provided on me. Also, I wanted invasilign, but for my case, he told me that he can't do it, so he refers me to an orthodontist. I send my X-ray to my orthodontist and guess what : - I have an infection at the end of one of a root - There is a very big cavity and a second under the crow bridge and I need an implant .... So I am not blaming him - he didn't make a deep exam I guess but just asking myself on how he can don't see all of this at the exam ??? (740$) I call several time to get explanations - I really do not have one clear honestly. Anyway, I called today twice just to know how much my insurance have to pay for an inaccurate exam exempt the cleaning. It's My right to know First, the front desk, don't even let me talk she said hi and when she knew it was me She send my call to the french doctor (I am french ok by she didn't even ask my needs). So I call back a second time, she forgot to put me on hold and WHAT DID I HEARD ITS UPPON MY WORDS. The two girls from the front desk were talking on my behalf in a inappropriate way - a very inappropriate judgement and statements. I was so disappointed that I left my work to meet with the office manager, to ask in person my billing. she finally will send me $$ the break down in 2 weeks. Beautiful office with amazing service. I have had many bad experiences at doctors/dentists prior, however all of my anxieties are cured at this office. It's a very calming atmosphere. They have a very flexible schedule and will almost always see you immediately, which is great in emergencies. The staff is great and very attentive. Dr. Ray is awesome and has a great bedside manner. He always takes great care of me, and is very gentle. Dr. Cohen is very kind and sweet. He is an amazing oral surgeon, who also has a great bedside manner, and always makes you feel very comfortable. The hygienist is great and gentle too! She is very accomodating. I also love that they offer so many services in office (oral surgery, pediatrics, regular cleanings, etc), its very convenient for my family and I. This is easily the best office I've been to in NYC. My entire family comes here and I highly recommend it to anyone who needs a one-stop shop! read more

The doctor is very nice, the office looks great, but the front desk was not clear at all about how much I would have to pay for my root canal. If I had known that at the beginning, I would have gone some place else. It turned out they did a bunch of other procedures that cost extra. I can understand that maybe before the exam they were not aware yet what procedures they would perform exactly. But after my appointment, when I was checking out, why didn't anybody tell me that whatever I paid would not go towards my root canal but would go towards some other procedures and the root canal would cost extra? The person who deals with billing told me on the phone that she assumed I had a bigger annual maximum and that other people usually have $1500 maximum or more. Why assume, when you can just check it and know for sure? And yes, I am not thrilled about my current $750 annual max either (which was used up, of course), but it is what it is, why mention other people and compare? I don't think that was professional. This was unexpectedly upsetting, the office looks so presentable and makes a great first impression on you. I don't usually write reviews, especially negative ones, people can make mistakes, it's all right. But this experience was rather disappointing. read more

Friendly doctors (Dr. Ginsburg is extremely warm and professional), welcoming staff, terrible office billing practices and communication. I have been a patient at Park Smiles for several years and have only positives experiences until my most recent visit. This was for a scan and dental consultation. The dentist and front desk told me that the scan was $450, and that they would reduce the price of the consultation from $250 to $200 as I had been a long-time customer. Payment was requested that the time of service and I was told that any amount covered by insurance would be refunded. One week later I get a letter from my insurance stating that they paid $180 towards the dental consultation - I call Park Smiles to explain this, and they say to wait another week or so for them to receive the paperwork. After hearing nothing from them for several weeks, I call the office again. I spoke with the office manager who said I was undercharged, the scan should have been $900, they were actually giving me a discount. She seemed surprised that I was asking for the double payment made by the insurance company back, and said she would need to investigate this further. Giving her a few days to investigate and not hearing back, I call again (this is the third phone call) and speak with her assistant. Park Smiles was willing to give me $30 back. They could not explain this amount, especially when insurance paid $180 for something that cost $200 and that I already paid the $200. I threaten to file a credit card dispute and the assistant calls me shortly back saying they would now refund me $130 and there was nothing else they could do. At this point it sounded like they were randomly making up numbers, refused to recognize the agreed upon price at the time of service, and completely ignored the fact that my insurance paid them $180. If you pay $200 for something that costs $200, and then someone else pays $180 for that same item, you would expect to get that money back as opposed to the office keeping all $380. Rest be assured that although Dr. Ginsburg is absolutely amazing and that most of the staff are very friendly and good individuals, I will never ever be returning to this office again. read more

Office is super nice. Dr. Ray is excellent. The people working at the front desk are extremely nice. But here is the issue: I was charged $1,169.00 for a cleaning. yes, it was a deep cleaning which had to be done in two sessions. but they assured me that my insurance would cover it - after the second session i was charged $55 copay only to receive a call 2 weeks later saying i owed $560 - then an email after that saying i owed $1,169... i tried to reason with the practice manager that i would have never opted for the cleaning if i had known it would cost $1,169. i'm currently still fighting the charge (1 year later) and it's been passed on from collections to a lawyer who is now coming after me. i have never not paid my bills. they are coming after me instead of going after the insurance. i was happy to make a compromise but they sent the disputed charge to the collections agency before the deadline they gave me. the entire process was extremely unprofessional including some not so nice emails from their office. i have never encountered anything like it. Dr. Cohen and his staff are awesome! I had a great experience from the moment I called and scheduled my first consultation. I was very nervous about the pulling of my 2 wisdom teeth, but so happy once the procedure was over. I couldn't believe how quick and painless it actually was. I didn't even believe the teeth were really out.. and to me that's truly a great oral surgeon. It only took 20 minutes to sit in the chair, numb my mouth, and pull the 2 teeth and be on my way home!! Amazing. They also were helpful with scheduling me with the dentist they work with for my cleaning and check up! I no longer dread or fear dental work, and that's really the best feeling. read more

The Dentists are good but the headache, attitude, and unprofessional process of their billing will make you wish you never stepped foot in this place. I went to Park Smiles NYC to see endodontist Dr. Stephanie Tran for dental pain that was treated with a root canal procedure, which was completed in two visits. Pros: - It was very easy to make an appointment and the reminder emails they send are very helpful - The office is very clean and quiet. - Check in for the first visit went very smoothly, and I got to see Dr. Tran very soon after arriving. - Dr. Tran was very thorough in explaining the possible causes of the pain and my options in treating it. She was also patient in taking the time to answer all of my questions (I get really nervous whenever I get dental work done, so it was really helpful to know what was going to happen). The procedure itself left me in tears (by no fault of anyone here; the tooth was just super infected), but Dr. Tran and the staff were very nice about it. - At the same time, Dr. Tran was still straightforward in telling me that I would need to come back to have the root canal finished (not the happiest news for someone in tears). - Second visit to finish the root canal was a complete 180. There was absolutely no pain, and the procedure went a lot more seamlessly-- probably what a typical root canal is supposed to be like. The follow-up visit also went very well and I appreciated Dr. Tran wanting to be careful about the success of the root canal. Cons: - Not a huge con but the office color scheme is gray and white and it's a tad depressing. - The x-ray-taking process was not the most comfortable, and it seemed that the machine was not the most reliable either, as it would take several tries to get the machine to take a picture, all while you have this unwieldly piece of plastic in your mouth. - It seemed that the dental assistant who helped with both parts of the root canal was still learning the ropes, which was not the problem. I work in the medical field, so I know it comes with a steep learning curve that requires experience with real patients to overcome. However, it seemed that this dental assistant was not quite ready yet to be on her own, as evidenced by her confusion about what certain materials or tools were. Dr. Tran was clearly frustrated with her, and it was this super visible tension that made me even more uncomfortable in an already nerve-wracking situation. It is neither person's fault, but I think everyone could have benefited from having either an additional dental assistant in the room to help out, or by ensuring that this dental assistant was truly ready to be on her own. read more

I went in for my much overdue cleaning today and also to get my wisdom tooth checked out to talk about extracting it. I also went in to get information on retainers. I was greeted by one of the dentists who dismissively told me to check with front desk about retainers and then left the room. I was taken back. I assume that if that was all I needed to do from the beginning, the receptionists would have covered that immediately on the phone after I told them that was on of the inquiries I had?...... Then I was left waiting for my cleaning and after waiting 20 minutes in the room, I was told they don't do cleanings on Mondays (ALSO would assume the receptionists would have told me that over the phone?....). Then I see the surgeon, Dr. Cohen, to speak about the pain I've been having due to my wisdom tooth. He had an even more dismissive demeanor and a condescending tone when he asked if I wanted to be awake or asleep for the extraction procedure after I said "I didn't know being awake was even an option". He looked annoyed and stated that its an option. I then asked him "no numbing of any kind?" he then hastily replied, "yes. local numbing, you'll feel tugging/pressure".I then hurriedly said thank you for the information as he looked eager to leave the room. I was then taken to take a radiography photo to check my wisdom tooth (I was not informed why that was needed if you could blatantly see the tooth). I was charged $160 for that lol AND when I was ready to leave, I was told I would also be charged $70 more for the "consultation" without informing me there would be a consultation fee. They are super overpriced here. I will pay good money for my dental care but the prices here surpass exorbitant. This place is a scam. When I say that the only thing that is top notch about this place is that it is aesthetically beautiful inside, that's literally it. Aside that, the professionalism, communication between employees, and empathy is seriously lacking. I in no way felt my needs were taken care of. I in no way felt they were respectful, considerate, empathetic, or treated me in a professional manner except for one of the female dentist assistants who was really kind. Maybe it's because I don't appear like Park ave material that my arduous experience was completely different than others who have left a review. It very much felt like a classist issue. This is the last time I will be going to this practice. I will be informing two families close to me and my colleagues at Mount Sinai who also go here, of the treatment I received. I will be taking my money elsewhere where I feel respected as a patient. read more

I saw Dr. Scheiner after I was having pain on one of my back teeth. She told me that I had a cavity, and was able to fill it and do a thorough exam on the rest of my mouth. This review is long overdue. I had a dental emergency and needed to see a dentist ASAP. I walked in first thing in the morning around 8 am before the doctors and the rest of the staff were even in. The lady (I believe she is an administrator or manager) helped me out with the checking in process. She had to text the doctor to let her know there's a patient waiting. Usually doctors come in at 9 but Dr. Scheiner came in earlier which I really appreciated since I had to go to work myself right after. She was very nice, polite, and attentive. I was worried she would try to convince me that I would have to do more than needed (I've had a couple of unpleasant experiences with previous dentists who tried to convince me I needed additional work $$$) but she was very professional and competent and did not try to oversell me anything. I was in and out in 15-20 minutes! She is great and I am very happy I found her. Dr. Scheiner is my go to dentist now and I would definitely recommend seeing her.
