Dani was a trooper with Dr. Kim and Danielle...awesome staff

After some coworkers referred hubby to this dental practice, we decided to make a family appointment day. What drew us here is the fact that they don't try to force you to get unnecessary x-rays at every visit. We both work in radiology imaging and because we're already exposed to radiation, we're not comfortable getting routine x-rays when we believe they're not necessary, especially for adults. At a prior dentist office, they actually tried to tell me I HAD to get x-rays when I was pregnant. Of course, I refused. There's no reason your dentist should be telling you to get x-rays every six months if your teeth are otherwise healthy. UES does require initial x-rays for a baseline but they use camera for some time afterwards, to keep track of your dental health. We were able to get our appointments on the same day. Hubby used to work in the area so it was convenient for us. Parking is a pain but we lucked out. The place is so clean. They have a small waiting room which is nice as you don't feel like there's people on top of you. Everything is clean and the decor looks newly renovated and very well maintained. We arrived right one time for our appointment but had to wait a bit. They took my son first and then my daughter. I was last. Her dental tech, Dani (already scoring points), called us in when it was my daughter's turn. The exam room is very comfortable. It was not scary at all. I was worried because this was my almost 4 year old's first trip to the dentist. They have a TV to keep patients occupied. My kiddo chose Cocomelon, of course. Her cleaning and visit went well. Dr. Kim was gentle and my Little was a rockstar! She must have felt very comfortable to get on without a fuss. My son said his visit went well and he was able to watch Netflix during his examination. My visit also went well, although I was not offered an option to watch anything. I did not know that option was available to adults at the time. I forgot who did my x-rays. It was a guy and he was very nice. He listened to me and my concerns. I have mandibular tori growths which make my mouth smaller so I have to use pediatric film holders to get x-rays. He accommodated and I was able to get all my x-rays with little pain. My cleaning went well although I was told that I needed to return for a deep cleaning which would require novocaine. This is where the stars begin to get taken away. I understand this is a business but sometimes you need to pivot in order to accommodate the patient. I was told that I had to have my deep cleaning performed in two visits. This is a concern for me because I am mostly a stay at home mom but also work outside, from time to time. It's difficult for me to get to the city for an appointment and have my kid with me. When I requested to have it done in one day, I was told that as per my insurance, I HAD to get the deep cleaning done over two visits. I was not happy about that and it didn't make sense to me. I declined making an appointment at that time and decided to confirm with my insurance company when I got home. They told me that they do not require the patient to have a two-visit cleaning. This bothered me. I don't like being made to do something when it's unnecessary. As a result, I have not yet made my next appointment.

I paid a small fortune for dentures. The don't fit right and the dentist said there is really nothing they can do about it.

As a pretty simple patient but new to the practice, I was in and out within an hour of my appt time. The facility was clean and much larger than expected, with good amount of seating in the waiting area. Paper work was straightforward. Felt like the dental assistant and dental hygienist were both pretty nice and very speedy with their parts. The DMD reviewed my images, did a quick exam, and then headed out. While I wish someone had prepped me what the visit was gonna look like, I have no dental complaints or major issues so it didnt bother me. I just wish they gave me an eye shield so the cleaning solution and fluids wouldn't get to my eyes. Also wish they wore badges/name tags so I could orient myself to the care team and which step/portion I was doing within the entire visit. The front desk staff were warm and polite. Kiana especially was really helpful in answering my insurance questions and with scheduling.

I prepaid $5,000 for two infected teeth to be pulled out, gum tissue, x-rays. That's 5000 out of my pocket. I've gone back 4 times asking Vanessa to refund my $2309. (which was the amount I had coming back to me) Vanessa, the bookkeeper, keeps giving me the runaround . She claims to be contacting the main office ( I have no idea where that is , I asked her for the address, she refused) . I typically don't write reviews--good or bad--but I feel incredibly dissatisfied and disappointed…read morewith my experience at Dr. Vasserman's office. I was recommended to this office by someone I truly trust, as I am not originally from NYC. The office itself is nice, and Corrie is typically friendly. For a basic teeth cleaning, this place is fine. However, if you need any significant dental work, I strongly urge you to reconsider. In 2022, my teeth had shifted due to Invisalign, and I wanted to have my front tooth (tooth #8), which had a crown from a childhood injury, redone so that it aligned properly. I initially considered finding a specialist but decided to go with Dr. Vasserman--something I deeply regret. Trust your intuition--if something feels off, it probably is. When I discussed my needs with Dr. Vasserman in April 2022, he assured me it would take only a few weeks. However, after many emails and back-and-forth conversations, I was informed that it would actually take eight weeks just for the lab in Chicago to begin my case. This was a complete contradiction to what I was initially told. When the crown finally arrived months later, I was shocked. This was supposed to be from the best of the best lab, yet the tooth looked nothing like the rest of my teeth. I don't understand why he didn't use a lab in NYC where I could have been directly involved in the process. It became increasingly clear that he didn't know what he was doing when it came to cosmetic dental work. After much back-and-forth, and clear frustration from Dr. Vasserman, we eventually landed on a tooth that was "acceptable"--but by this point, it was July. Between April and July, my temporary tooth fell out multiple times, I had to go back and forth to the office countless times, and I constantly questioned my decision to have him do the work. The worst part? Any time I called for an update or to get help, it often felt like the office was avoiding me. Calls would go unanswered, and I would have to follow up multiple times just to get basic information. The lack of communication and accountability was infuriating. Fast forward to November 2024--I started experiencing severe pain and discomfort in my front tooth. The pain was unbearable, keeping me up at night and even giving me headaches. I switched dentists due to my previous experience and didn't feel comfortable returning to Dr. Vasserman. Well, turns out my instincts were right--I now have a serious infection in the tooth. The crown wasn't even cemented properly, leaving it loose and unstable. The infection has become so severe that my tooth is now unsalvageable. I have to undergo major surgery, including tooth extraction and bone grafting, because the infection has eroded my bone. Here's the most frustrating part: I have had this tooth redone three times in my life, and never--not once--have I had an issue like this until this last procedure. The fact that I trusted a dentist who clearly lacked the skill and experience for this type of work is devastating. The moral of the story? If something feels off, trust yourself. Go to a specialist. If I had listened to my gut, I wouldn't be dealing with this nightmare now. If you only need a cleaning, this place is fine. But for any serious dental work, I cannot recommend this office and would strongly advise against going here.
