We had the sambusa, Pilav, and the Lulya kebab. I was hesitant to order the sambusa, because I've honestly never had a good one. But, my bff wanted them . I was clearly wrong, there is a such thing as a perfect sambusa. The bread was thin enough to taste it, but not so bready that the bread was the star. The meat was chopped steak not ground meat and the sambusa was stuffed full, 4 of them is a whole meal. And the filling was full of flavor, layers of flavor, it alone is a reason to eat there. Also the kebab was served with a perfectly dressed fresh tomato, red onion and cucumber salad and the pilav was served with a perfectly dressed lettuce, red onion and tomato salad. The Pilay was pretty good, the meat was a bit dry, but the flavors in the rice was on point and the garbanzo beans were creamy and flavorful, not slightly sandy and garbanzos can be. They definitely did not come from a can. That kebab, whew THAT KEBAB, was off the chain and they served it with a red sauce that seemed simple but flavorful with a little kick, I think I ate more bread than anything because I was dipping my bread in that red sauce. The service was friendly and the decor was comfortable and welcoming and colorful. I will definitely be back. My girlfriend and I decided to give this place a try one day for lunch. WOW!! We were glad we did! Very comfortable, beautiful setting and the food was beyond amazing! She started with the Ukrainian Borsch, I the Lagman soup. Both were fantastic! I then moved to the chicken kabob, and I must say, it was the most tender chicken I have had. Love the spicy flavors. Tonight was my first time here. The restaurant was warm and inviting. The tables were beautifully carved and the seating was comfortable. They only had one person waiting tables. He did an excellent job taking care of our table. I ordered the chicken kabob and borsch soup. My son ordered the beef kabob and my wife ordered the lamb and beef kabob. We also ordered a side of cooked mushrooms and onions. When we received our meals we exchanged meats . I was very happy with all of the kabobs. Chicken kabob was my favorite. All the meat was tender and flavorful. The borsch soup was very good. Each of us tried it. I would order it again. Overall it was an excellent meal. We we're all very happy with it. Three of us came in for dinner the other night. The service was attentive enough, and the ambiance/decor was lovely, but the food was just so-so and definitely not worth the money spent. I started with the Borsch, and while the flavor was good, there was only one large chunk of meat that was not very tender and nearly impossible to cut with a soup spoon. My daughter and I were then brought our salads, which were good - crisp and fresh, but beware if you don't like dill because there was a lot. Now the Kebabs... Kazan for her and Beef for me. Her Kazan was delicious - tender meat and seasoned to perfection. The only downside to her meal was that it came with potatoes that weren't so much as salted. My Beef Kebabs though were almost inedible. The meat was extremely tough and just had an unappealing flavor I couldn't put my finger on. I assumed I just didn't care for the seasoning blend and tried to mask it with the mushrooms it was served with, but the mushrooms were ice cold like they'd been dumped on my plate straight out of the refrigerator. I ate the rice and gave up on the rest. My son ordered the gyro and fries and had no complaints. I'm unsure if we'll give this place another try. I'd come back just for the Kazan Kebab, but $25 for 4 "kebabs" and unseasoned potatoes is a little steep. read more

Delicious! Very warm welcome and exceptional dishes. We were worried that it may be closed but it was indeed open. The place is designed beautifully with suzani and other central Asian textiles--and comfy. More people should be visiting this place!! Collectively, our party had the osh (pilav), sambusa, shurpa, potatoes, and the mixed grill kebabs (lulya, beef, & lamb) along with the shakarob salads, extra bread, and hot green tea. I have only been here once, but I will be back. We went in and were greeted and immediately seated. We ordered and about 12 minutes later our food came out. I am not sure what they did in the kitchen during those 12 minutes, but it was some type of extraordinary culinary magic! I got the Beef Stroganoff and every bite was a different level of taste, spice, and flavor. I could cook for hours and not achieve the same level of appeal to tastebuds. We went on a Saturday night when the Huskers were losing to Ohio State. The game was on but with no sound. Pleasant, casual ambiance. On the plus side, hummus with the Chaikhana version of Naan was very good. I loved the minty lemon salad dressing. Trish is not much of a salad person so I got a double serving, yay! The chicken dish I ordered was two tiny leg and thigh hindquarters sections. Difficult to eat. Trish had a chicken kabob. The spices were nice but it appeared to be dark meat. Prefer breast meet on a kabob. Glad that we tried it. Anyone who likes Mediterranean / Middle Eastern food should visit, but perhaps order different dishes than the ones we had. read more

Holy God, this place is really good, and very unique, definitely the first time I've really ever tried the cuisine of central Asia, and in Omaha no less! The food has elements of middle eastern, Greek and Russian tastes, but with a twist. The atmosphere was really nice, I certainly didn't feel like I was in a strip mall in central Omaha, and the service was very friendly and warm. Now, the food...we ordered a plate of their hummus and it was very good, it had the nice garlic taste that we like, and it come with warm pita bread. If you order a full meal it comes with a very fresh and tasty salad with fresh cucumbers, basil and dill, it was way better than the average bowl of lettuce you get at alot of places. For main courses I ordered the luyla beef kabob and my wife ordered the chicken kabob, both were great, but if pressed I'd say the chicken was better. The seasonings and flavor were outstanding, and everything was cooked to perfection! The meals come with really good rice and some sort of dense bread that I'd never tasted before. Ordered takeout last Saturday. We sat at the bar for about 20 minutes while awaiting my order. There was only one server on duty. He asked me if I would like something to drink while I waited? I asked for a wine list, but he told me that they do not serve alcohol even though there were many wine glasses stored behind the bar. We ordered a Luyla Kebab and a Lamb Kebab. Both came with a salad and rice (no bread came with either dish). The food was absolutely delicious, although the portions were very small for $38.++. I might consider going back, however, I wish there were bigger portions and that they would re-open the bar. read more

Finally got in here as I've been looking forward to trying this. Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. The ambiance and decor is really very interesting and enjoyable. I love the music videos playing. The booths very cozy and soft with pillows. Very comfortable but I always worry about cleanliness with this as they are harder to clean. We stared with some hummus & naan as well as pickled veg. Everything was delicious, the hummus was a little thin for my liking; somewhat watery maybe but quite tasty and the doughy naan was delightful. I was a bit frustrated that since my wife has to eat gluten free they couldn't accommodate any fresh veg to dip in the naan. Our waiter really wasn't friendly nor unfriendly he just was. He also didn't come off as knowledgeable about gluten intolerance so we were a bit worried though my wife seemed fine after enjoying her shrimp kabobs. I had the lamb kabobs and they were cooked perfectly, very tender and delicious. I really enjoyed the smoky tomato sauce that came with it as well. It's about time an authentic restaurant got opened in Omaha. Delicious food from the Kavkaz area of the former USSR. Ambience is traditional of the area with interesting decor and music of the region in the background. Comfy sofa type seating with plenty of space. We ordered for 4 people: hummus and sambusa appetizers, lamb kabob (with bread, rice, and salad), lulya kabob (with bread, rice, salad), lamb chops (with homemade crispy potatoes and salad), Borscht, 2 beers, and a coconut yellow cake. Lulya kabob was my favorite from them all! Borscht was delicious (maybe needed an extra dash of salt). The red pepper sauce that comes with every meet dish needs to be bottled, that stuff is amazing. The sambusa was delicious - perfect seasoning of meat with onion stuffed in a yummy buttery flaky crust. Service was excellent! Nice waiter who didn't hover over the table but came often enough to ensure we have what we need. Order came to $85 (pre-tip) which is fantastic for such a hearty fresh meal for 4 people. I will be back to this place often, and I hope it will get more traction. I'm honestly surprised there aren't lines to get a table. This food is also perfect for catering. What a unique and delicious addition to all the international restaurants in Omaha. This restaurant has Central Asian cuisine from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The food is freshly prepared from scratch, so service does take awhile, but it's a beautiful atmosphere to sit with friends. The interior was also imported from Central Asia. I tried several dishes that our table shared, and everyone was delicious and perfectly seasoned. For appetizers we ordered olivie, which was a tasty version of potato salad with veggies and min mayo. We also ordered some beef dumplings dipped in sour cream. The borscht soup is hearty, but not like the cream version I have had at other places. The flavors were rich, like it had been cooked all day. There was a big piece of tender beef and an entire potato in the beet soup. I ordered beef stroganoff, which was not like the version I'm used to. The pieces of beef were tender and served over potatoes. The menu called them French fries, but they were not fried. They tasted like roasted hunks of potatoes. The kabob dinners came with rice and vegetables. The eggplant kabob was impressive served on a big sword! All entrees come with a house salad, similar to a Greek salad. I have already visited twice, and I cannot wait to come back and try more dishes! I am glad to support this family-run business.
