We live right near Mediterranean Bistro and had been there about ten years ago, but then forgot it was there for some reason. Recently, we were trying to go to Rookie's Bar for a quick bite, but it must have been thirsty Thursday because they were PACKED. But who was right next door and reminded us how great they were? Mediterranean Bistro! First off, the decor is pretty cute. There are flowers and art everywhere. There was a fountain at some point, but it looks like it wasn't working anymore. We don't come to a restaurant simply for the decor though, so on to the more important things - the service and food! Our server was wonderful and checked on us so much. The owner was even there when we were dining and we got to speak with her (she was so nice!) They have great quality foods too that are filling but not too heavy. We started with the vegetarian lavosh, which was YUM. It was a perfectly crispy bread with cheese melted on it, and topped with tomatoes, black and green olives, artichokes, and cilantro. Very tasty and it didn't need any meat on it, it was so flavorful. Next we had the falafel with hummus (I recently went flexitarian, so 90% vegetarian), and it was divine as falafel goes! Crispy outside and soft warm inside, with lots of tzatziki sauce for dipping. Great snack, or meal if paired with another small item. And pair with it, I did. I also got the barley soup in a cup and it was warm and filling, like a soup that would be perfect for a chilly Fall day. My husband had the shish kabob, which he loved. He had been annoyed at the Rookies situation but the lavish put him righ back in a good mood. And for dessert, we had both the tiramisu and baklava. Both were expertly made and deliciously sweet. We took most of those home and ate them over the next few days. Love when you can do that. This is my first time inside this restaurant, although I have had takeout a few times several years ago. The food is very consistent of what it was back then. My beef salad tasted amazing! I was surprised at how good the flavor of the dressing was on the salad, and although it was a pretty simple salad, it was definitely a large and filling enough meal for me with the amount of beef that came on top. I also got the extra grilled vegetables, and these were delicious! Kind of a surprise to see it. It was just one large piece of each vegetable, but it was still plenty of food, and worth the charge for me. The environment is pretty simple in plain, definitely feels like a hole in the wall spot. The restroom is past the kitchen, so you get a good view into the front of house and back of house stations. Overall, this was a great meal, although just a little too pricey in my opinion. Hands down the best chicken kabob in the area. I love the moroccian rice with almonds and raisons and add the yogurt sauce on the side. The portions of meat are quite generous compared to the other kabab places. Super nice wait staff. Sometimes it take a while to get your food as they cook everything fresh to order. Order an appetizer -spanakopita, tabouli and falafel are my favorite- the salads are great too. read more

Main meal was just ok, food is terribly overpriced considering that you mainly get rice, it also took forever to get our food and the place was only half full of customers. A small but cozy restaurant inside. Wait staff was nice but I did feel like ate food took quite a long time to get to us and there were only two other tables there. The food itself was just okay to me. I do not think they give you much food in the Kebabs. It's mostly rice and the rice was very bland. We had to add seasoning that was on the table to make anything have flavor. I really wanted to like Mediterranean bistro...especially because there's not a ton of Mediterranean places to eat out west. The service was fine, nothing memorable. The food was decent, but not memorable either. My biggest complaint was that a lot of the food was bland. The rice was almost flavorless, and both of the meats I ordered lacked true flavor. It looked like there was plenty of seasoning on there, but honestly it didn't taste like much. The highlight of the meal was the baklava. It did taste a little mealy, but on the hole it was the best thing I ate the whole night. The ambience needs some updating. It kind of looks like a cross between Persian and Mediterranean inside, but all of the interiors and decorations could use some TLC. Maybe just an a dining room refresh? Mediterranean bistro is an Omaha classic, tucked away right off 120th and blondo behind the gas station and next to hurts donuts. FOOD : the food is nice to have as a healthier option with loads of flavors compared to the standard American cuisine. I got the chicken kabob with hot sauce and substituted veggies for the rice. The chicken was honestly not great, it was pretty greasy and chewy, I caught a bone which I'm never thrilled about. To be honest as years have gone by, I really like this place less and less. As for the veggies, they were alright, nothing really special about them they were just chard and that was that. Overall kind of a waste of money if I'm being really honest, much prefer El Basha or other Mediterranean spots in Omaha. TIPS / THINGS TO KNOW : if you're doing takeout they automatically add a 10% gratuity to your order. I have had issues here in the past where they have added A lot of money on come time to pay that was unnecessary, so make sure you know what you're paying for and you don't go without checking the receipt. They also add tax to each plate instead of to the order overall, so another thing to note. Also, they don't offer sides of hummus unless you're paying $10 extra dollars for it which sucks compared to other Mediterranean spots in town. Lastly, The menu prices they have online are different than the prices they have in store, everything is about a dollar more expensive when you go inside. Unfortunately this will probably be the last time I ever go here, it just solidified that I truly don't love the spot if I'm being honest. The interior is beautifully decorated and you feel comfy able. We LOVED the lavosh! Had it last night as an appetizer and we're still talking about it! How can I leave 10 stars??!! MB is unique in every way! This amazing restaurant sits tucked into a strip mall and you'd never really know it's there unless someone told you about it. Inside I get a Moroccan vibe which adds to the uniqueness! The menu is traditional in many ways and the items range in inspiration from Greek, to Indian, to Indian, to Persian! I would suggest the hummus bruschetta which is one of the top 5 dishes I've ever consumed! So good! The kebabs are all amazing here. Veggies are solid with great char from the grill! I was excited to try Mediterranean Bistro. My boyfriend has been telling me how the Chicken Ala Pomegranate reminds him of something his grandmother used to make. Of course, I had to try something different. I went with their house specialty, kabobs with a side salad. I truly preferred the side salad over the meal. The salad dressing is delicious. The kabobs were ok, a little bland. I liked the steak over the chicken. The overall service was excellent. The service was quick and efficient. Quick callout. If you are looking at the menu online, it automatically defaults to the lunch menu. If you are going for dinner, make sure you click the dinner menu. Being that I have lived a mile from this place for over a decade, I cannot believe it has taken me this long to check it out. While I am not a vegetarian, my diet has transitioned to proportionately more plant based over the past couple of years and for that reason, Mediterranean is a big appeal. The Bistro offers up a wide variety of delicious and simply seasoned options. I went for a vegetable kabob that came with rice and an amazing yogurt sauce. Still kinda shocked at where they have taken pricing. Have always loved the food but we have moved to better value. A 17 dollar entree gets nothing with it now and they charge for even a tiny amount of hot sauce. A review from February mentions a $60 bill for 2-3 entrees, 2 appetizers and 2 drinks. Good luck with that. I estimate with tax and tip you will spend more than $100. The 10% automatic tip on take out orders is the killer new charge. Simply absurd. Add a take out fee or something but a automatic percentage is over the top. We will stop in occasionally but our carry out days have ended here. read more

I love this place, the Caspian kabob is anywhere from good to absolutely great! My wife loves the chicken kabob. The tabouli is the best I've had, I would recommend the sampler appetizer. The staff is always welcoming and they do a great job serving you. Give them a try you won't be disappointed! Back again... I went here last week with some work buddies to send me off to my next job since it was my last day working with them. This was my first time here so I obviously opted for the gyro sandwich with an extra helping of tzatziki sauce; which was a mistake since they already give you a HUGE portion of it by default. Our group put all of our orders in with the waitress, who was nice. We ordered some hummus, which was okay but kind of bland. For my main dish, I ordered the gyro sandwich and a side of their 'potatoes'. The food came out pretty quickly. The potatoes are just long pieces of potato, nothing like french fries; which was my mistake for thinking that. They also didn't have any ketchup. I understand that it's probably not generally used on meditteranean food, but at least have some for the small amount of people who use ketchup on gyros, potatoes, or any of their dishes. All in all, the gyro sandwich was awesome, but I didn't like the potatoes and they didn't have any ketchup. Call me weird or whatever for wanting ketchup but all restaurants should have some just in case a customer asks for it. read more

The food is ok, nothing great. The sketchy part of this dining experience started when the ticket came and the entre price was not as advertised in the menu. Turns out they add tax to the entre price so you end up paying tip on tax! Not good. The menu stated 18% gratuity added to groups of 5 and more. Turns out the gratuity is 20%, not bad but not as advertised in the written menu. Then, they add 5% for separate tickets. We paid 25% gratuity. Lack of transparency a problem. My mom is Iranian and we have very high standards for Iranian Persian food. The foods is amazing. Our family diet leans more on the vegetarian side (with fish) so we ordered the hummus, baba ganoush, dolmeh, Persian barley soup, and salmon kabob. It was all delicious. The only reason I give it 4/5 stars was because the service was a little loud and not totally consistent and also the atmosphere needed some music or something because the people sitting beside we so loud and distracting. Unfortunately the food and service were not what we hoped it would be. The wait for our food was to long and then when it arrived the Kabobs were cold. Very few vegetables and also was cold. The Greek salad was basically just lettuce, with a few olives, tomatoes and Feta cheese. Extremely overpriced. Hadn't eaten here in a long time, regrettably. The food here is excellent. It's also got a great atmosphere, contrary to what some might predict in a storefront space like this one. We arrived during happy hour, so there was a little discount on drinks, which was nice. Kudos to the bartender for extending it to the couple who sat down with 4 minutes to spare. Their kabobs are delightfully tasty, marinated well, and cooked right. The warm pita bread complements the entrees well, whatever you might order. Portions are generous without being too much.
