When I opened the doors to Chad's Chai, I immediately was transformed into an Indian villa... The aroma of all of the spices filled my nostrils with joy! I ordered a sugar-free chai tea oat milk latte that is divine! I also ordered two chai chocolate chip cookies that are also very spicy and taste a lot like gingerbread cookies because of the spices. They are very moist, soft and flavorful. They were also very reasonably priced as I got two of them for only $4! I had to wait a little while for my oat milk chai tea latte since I ordered it sugar-free. It was definitely worth the weight! I can taste all of the warm spices that make it what it is! The ambience, of course is just what I expected. It's open bright and warm. The space is also very inviting. The employees were very kind and friendly. there was light music playing in the background that was very tea room appropriate. I was very pleased with the total and of course I added a tip. I see why everybody in Winston-Salem loves and raves about Chad's Chai!

I always see smiling faces when I walk in. The gingerbread latte was smooth, comforting, and perfectly balanced with a delicious chai base. I also tried the chocolate chip cookies with chai, and they were deliciously chewy and rich. The pairing was perfect. Best for: slow mornings, solo time, journaling, or a cozy catch-up with a friend or two. A true local gem if you appreciate intentional spaces and well-crafted drinks. I'll definitely be back.
Stopped by recently one afternoon, was expecting great things from all the high reviews but was left underwhelmed. Walk up counter service. Its tea, guess im missing something but when I asked for decaf options for my afternoon visit it became a difficult situation? Was hoping for a decaf tea or green tea, not so though. My order taker was completely confused when I asked for a no caffeine drink? This place is obviously popular with, a spacious modern interior with plenty of sitting areas inside and out. Wound up with an herbal, floral mix, it was okay but weak and not very good. Not bad, but just did not meet my need. My friend enjoyed her Chai but said similarly about the whole experience. Pricey for a weak herbal decaf. Even let the mix steep an extra 4-5 minutes to no avail. Again, this place looks like its very popular with the areas locals but it missed the mark for me, ordering a decaf tea in the afternoon should not be that difficult. Was just looking for a nice decaf green tea or black tea even. 2.5 Stars rounded up instead of down, for the nice outdoor sitting area 01145
I missed to take a picture of my Spiced Apple Chai-der since I was taking my drink to-go, but what a warming place Chad's Chai is! The inside is so cozy - I wanted to spend my whole day there. The employees are super kind. The drink selection is awesome!! I really appreciate the caffeine-free options as well, since I usually get decaf, and you don't see many decaf teas. The Spiced Apple Chai-der was perfectly sweet, and it warmed me up for my walk. It was the perfect comfort drink. Love this place!! Excited to see their winter menu soon!
Fun blended teas and cute open space. I think this is a great space if you're newer to teas and want to try fun, funky flavors. I'm partial to single origin teas and like more of the classic no frills oolong, sencha, matcha (not latte) - and as a huge fan of dobra I recognize that this caters to a different crowd. And that is totally okay and will welcome any shop that opens up the door to more tea lovers! They did have some single origin teas served gong fu style - so I will say that it does have some options for those who would so desire. They do have some savory cold food options in a fridge, like cold noodle salads and some fun pastries that also cater to allergen sensitive folk.
Ever since Chad's Chai opened I've been hearing rave reviews but I never visited until last night. I'm happy to have experienced it for myself and it definitely lives up to the hype. When you walk in, it's a full vibe. Very minimalist decor with lots of pale wood. You immediately feel relaxed, soothed, comforted. It was evening so I wanted to purchase caffeine-free options for myself and my friends. For myself I ordered the Sundown Chai, and my friends wanted a Chai Latte and a Masala Latte, all with the homemade plant milk blend. When the drinks were set upon the counter the aromas were amazing. I felt as if I had entered a spice market. My drink was a masterful blend of flavors, just the right amount of sweetness, spice, and creaminess. Happiness in a cup. There's a great merch section that includes a little fridge with noodles and delicious looking desserts. I hope to return soon and give them a try .
My first time at this cool modern concept of a tea house and the spiced apple cider is basic and good. It's warming me up! Bf and his daughter had the pumpkin pie chai and I tasted it, it is more like a decadent dessert. Very good service here, the girl taking orders is super sweet and patient. It is a great use of space and they are open till 9 PM so come and get some treats!
If you a chai lover and you are in the Winston Salem downtown area, I implore you to stop by Chad's Chai. What a cute little spot for a meet up, get some work done, or just relax with an AH-mazing cup of chai. I got the original black chai and when I tell you it was chai perfection, you better hear me----it was PER-FECT-ION!!!! The beautiful spiciness won me over with the very first sip. The customer service was amazing very willing to take the time to entertain all of my questions, and give me some very welcomed suggestions. Next time I am in the area, I will definitely make a point to stop in
Loved the atmosphere and I certainly enjoyed the chai. I think my mistake was ordering the flight rather than one I was for sure going to like. But then again, this was my first visit so I wanted to try a variety. I definitely would go back and maybe order something a little bit more tailored to my tastes.

Chads chais is a great addition to the downtown! As a tea drinker, this is a great hub for me to pass the time and get some work down out of the house. They have a great selection of lattes and interesting looking baked goods that I have not yet explored. I love the venue, it is contemporary and botanical with cute floor tables available. I got to share a drink with this gorgeous fellow Yelper on a date night and we enjoyed a warm end to our evening with two chai lattes.
I have been here several times now and I'd like to say it's one of my favorite tea spots... EVER. Such a beautiful interior space, central location, original menu, and great community space. There's not one, not two, but THREE gluten free treat options ... which is so awesome! The Filipino coconut cake, love cake, and focaccia bread were so good. I've had their matcha drinks and also a handful of chais. I can't wait to go back and truly don't know that I've had the same thing twice because there's so much to try. New favorite spot to do work.
I had a great experience here! I don't always want a coffee and this is the perfect place to have ample options that are not just tea-based. The location is great- in the art's district, where everything is walking distance. They have a ton of street parking and they have a parking lot in the back as well. They have so much natural light coming in and so much seating. I came here to get some work done for a few hours and it was very comfortable with wi-fi. There were so many different groups of people here as well- people meeting other friends, and other people like me who were getting some work done. They have a really unique Japanese tea-style seating area on a platform that I would love to sit at sometime. I ordered a a blueberry ginger matcha and it was incredible. I love all things ginger, so I was excited to try it. Their matcha is not grainy or grassy- they made it perfectly and so quickly. The only con I have is that the drink was pretty pricey, but that could be because of the matcha shortage happening. Would I go back? Yes and I already have since this first visit!!
We love to Chad's and getting a bit of chai to split. The whole experience--the live trees, the broad benches, the sweet mugs, the wooden treys everything comes on... the whole room is delightful. We were in the Arts District so we stopped by Chad's Chai. The last time we visited was on a weekend and they were super busy and a bit loud. This time, since it was a weekday, it was much more relaxing and quiet, more like how we remember it. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the chai. We also tried the Chai Chocolate Chip Cookies but we didn't really taste the chai flavor in them. They were still good though! One small disappointment was that they didn't have the Traditional Chai. This is the third time it hasn't been available when we visited. I thought chai was kind of the main focus here so hopefully we'll be able to get it next time! read more

Tea lovers, this one's for you! When you walk in, you can read the tea guide as well as smell samples of their loose leaf teas. They also have tea "on tap," typically 4 options, that you can sample. I had their original chai as a dairy free chai latte, and bought several bags of loose leaf tea. I loved the open, airy environment with natural light and there were so many drinks I wanted to try! I have always been a coffee drinker and in the winter any warm drink will hit the spot! Ever since Chads Chai opened I find myself always gravitating towards other warm drinks and their Chai is always amazing. Will be back to try all of the different drinks. read more

I was a Chai hater before trying Chad's Chai. Their classic vanilla chai was absolutely delicious--it was balanced and the flavors were perfect. The ambiance is very cute and cozy. You can chill and chat, play some board games, or get some studying in. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area! read more

The vibes are right in this spot. The drinks are good but maybe not at their listed price. The staff always seems super unhappy to be working. Uncertain what is up with that. However, the space sells it for this business. read more
First time personally at Chad's Chai, and I was overall pleased. I got the matcha latte with vanilla. A tad pricey, but the flavor was excellent! Nice clean, quiet place to chat, work, or maybe even read or play a game while killing time. Staff were rather friendly as well! read more
An excellent modern place to get just about any kind of beverage, but particularly coffee and tea! Chad's Chai has loads of local recognition, with their products often being used as ingredients in the works of others around town, food and drink alike. Their space in the arts district is nothing short of gorgeous, no matter the eye. Inside you'll find plenty of seating, reading nooks, bar seating, tables, the lot... all of it pleasing to the eye. There is also a sizeable outdoor seating area for nice days. I've been a few times, but on my most reason trip I got the strawberry summer iced tea. It was crisp, refreshing, and flavorful. Great for a warm summer day and a stroll through downtown. I stayed inside to enjoy this one, because air conditioning is just... the best. Found a comfortable seat, did a little work, and had some quiet time. With fall suddenly upon us, I can only suspect they'll find lots of people coming through the doors for their seasonal menu. Chad's has been supplying local businesses for years, so it is nice to see them finally get their own spot. While they could have done brisk business on name recognition and the strength of their product alone, they happen to have a very nice atmosphere: bright and airy with plenty of natural light. The staff here are knowledgeable and can help offer recommendations, which is useful if you find yourself overwhelmed by the number of options. From classic teas to chai lattes to seasonal concoctions to even tea flights, there's a lot to choose from here. Packaged teas, tea accessories, and baked goods are also among the offerings. For our first visit, my wife and I went with a Peachy Keen (with basil) iced tea, an iced vanilla chai, and an ube cheesecake roll. The teas were very refreshing on a hot day while the pastry tasted great warmed up. Chai lattes can sometimes be cloyingly sweet, but this one was thankfully not. If you like tea, Chad's Chai is a must if you're in the area. If you don't, Chad's might make a convert out of you. read more

I have enjoyed Chad Chai tea for many years. This was my first visit to the tea shop. The atmosphere is incredible. I love how modern yet cozy it felt. They have a wonderful kids area with lots of books that my son really enjoyed. They also had a few tables with Asian style seating. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the teas. My son tried one of their cookies and loved it. I had a coconut cake with a jade oolong tea. Both were excellent and I would order them again. The tea had a wonderful flavor and the timer helped to ensure the perfect steep time. The cake was light and not too sweet. I will definitely be back to try more teas and snacks here. read more
I didn't know what to expect, but I was greeted by a majestic space with some American-style and some Japanese-style seating. In addition to beverages and loose leaf tea for sale, they also had a small selection of what looked like high-quality pastries with Asian influence and vegan options. I was tempted by a pumpkin mochi donut, which was small but delectable. When I finished it, I discovered that by virtue of not reading the menu very closely, the beverage I had ordered was not a chai but was in fact a flavored matcha. Guess I was fooled by the name on the door, but this is a delicious form of tea as well and their peach/fig matcha was available with oat milk at what appeared to be no extra charge (the base price is robust enough). It was a space that I would happily have spent more time in than I had on this particular occasion. read more

First time here and I am so impressed at the quality of the matcha! I got the lavender basil matcha and it was phenomenal - pro tip: get the alternative milk rather than the regular! I made the mistake of getting regular milk, and after tasting it, I couldn't taste the matcha as well so I asked for the alternative. They let me replace it without an extra cost, which was so sweet! The service was incredible and they were so hospitable. Will definitely be coming back! read more

Am I just as obsessed with Chads chai as I've always been? Sure am. My current obsession is the Black Forest latte. I'll be so sad when the menu changes and it's no longer available. I do love trying new items though. It's one of my Favorite spots to meet up with friends and also for bookclub. read more
My love of this place is renewed each and every time I visit! The staff are always so friendly and helpful. The drinks are consistently delicious. The atmosphere is always busy but relaxed with guests milling about and the hum of companionable chatter filling the space. I love the days when I can sit and stay and chill at Chad's for a few hours. read more
Aesthetic: Bright, inviting tea cafe with a unique array of Chai teas, hot tea, iced tea, and dessert. Experience: This cafe was the cutest, I was so impressed! I tried an iced Strawberry Sencha and my husband tried one of the hot Chai lattes (unfortunately I forget his order), and they were both delicious. We sat here for an hour taking in the atmosphere while we planned our evening. The desserts looked amazing, we will need to come back and try them next time we're in town. I would be here all the time if we lived nearby. Conclusion: This is the perfect cafe to study or just relax, the drinks are amazing, go here! read more

I loved everything about this place. My drink had the perfect balance of chai and espresso and the morning bun was soooo good. I am not a big sweets person but this was so good. All the staff was friendly and they were helpful. This place was so peaceful as well. There was so much tranquility. It was an experience I loved . This is going to be one of my fav places. read more

This place is my go-to when I need to get some work done or just simply craving a chai tea. I have tried most of all of their teas and they never disappoint. I love how quiet and bright this place is. Everyone is so nice and well informative if you lack knowledge on what kind of tea to drink. The servers take their time and make sure you have an elite experience! read more

The food and drinks were delicious, the butter specifically was like nothing I've ever had. Vanilla Chai was sweet but didn't overpower the original Chai flavor. The Toasted Japanese bread was crunchy and a little salty when covered in the Chai Butter. The Chai Chocolate Chip Cookies were deliciously chocolate filled and had a great undertone of their chai blend. The service was impeccable, the entire team stayed on task and were kind even when they were rushing to take and make orders. The ambiance is always wonderful here, the smell is heavenly from the Chai and teas around. The seating is comfortable and easy to hang out at without feeling like you need to leave. I spent almost two hours reading my book and answering emails without feeling pressured to leave. read more

Nice chai spot in the heart of downtown Winston. Was referred here by a friend because I love chais. It's a nice, relaxed atmosphere that you can easily work, meet clients, or enjoy a refreshing drink to start your day. Even though I am a chai drinker, I found it a bit overwhelming with all of the options available. There wasn't a lot of explanation about their menu and although the staff was extremely friendly, they didn't really offer any recommendations to elevate the experience. Nevertheless, I chose a good chai (Masala)-it was very creamy and spiced but not overwhelming. I chose whole milk and had it iced but would love to try it warm, I'd definitely visit again and see about trying other menu items. read more

Chad's Chai has my heart! The open-air, minimalistic location is such a cozy, laid-back vibe. It's the perfect place to bring your laptop and get some work done or catch up with a friend. The staff is amazing--kind, welcoming, and ready to give you recommendations. But the drinks and pastries are where it's at, which is why you're there in the first place. The menu has many options, but each one has been carefully and thoughtfully curated. You can tell they use high quality ingredients. There are various kinds of chai but all are flavorful, light and refreshing. I highly recommend supporting this small business! read more
Girlfriends decided to have a last minute day out and we came to this delightful tea bar. Ambiance was relaxing and they had great options like chai blossom, tea infusions, iced and hot drinks and even tea "wine". I wish they had some savory food options. Today everything was sweet. But no biggy. My hot chai latte was delicious Relaxing place with living room areas to sit on comfortable floor and hook onto the internet. I've never been anything other than a coffee drinker until Chads Chai came into my life. Now I'm a bonafide tea girlie! I have had the hot and iced chai tea flights as well as the tea on tap flight with medium sweetness level. There wasn't a single drink I tried that I didn't like. And I'd order them all again on a subsequent visit - they're that good!! I also tried the brown sugar pop tart and that thing was so flaky and buttery, just yum! Our servers were always so friendly and very patient explaining the tea options to someone who doesn't drink tea very often. I applaud them for that. The space is also giving very zen vibes which we love. I'll need infinite zen places to visit in my life I cant say enough about Chads chai and can't wait to return so I can try their dirty chai! read more
