Sadly, employers are desperate for help so they keep these people around to keep the lines moving. The kindness of the others makes up for these 2. When you plan to do a, plan on being here 2-3 hours. It comes out to an average of $15/hour per visit. Be sure to follow their directions about eating and drinking so that you don't get sick. You have to take care of yourself before you can help others. They received new machines this week but I have not experienced them yet. There will be changes to the rates and times it takes for donations.

The platelet donation is less fun, because it takes somewhere between 2-3 hours, and they have to puncture both arms (draw blood from one arm, send the blood into a machine so that the platelets can be separated from the blood, and then send the blood back to you via the other arm). But you know what? Small price to pay to help someone in need. In particular, platelets go to individuals who are fighting serious illness such as cancer, and the platelets can really make a world of difference for them. And it honestly does not hurt that much. Still not convinced to donate? Well they also have Netflix, and you can binge watch whatever you want while you're sitting in the donor's chair for 2+ hours. I just finished off Cobra Kai, myself. Last time, I plowed through 5 episodes of Seinfeld. Last bit of convincing I have for you - they have snacks! You get to sip on some "tropical juice" and eat Oreos or Cheez-Its or those Welch's gummy snacks or Nutter Butters... Not to sound like a dude in a windowless van, but it is a good reason to donate. *opens door and ushers you inside, looks behind you to make sure nobody is following, slowly shuts the door* Not but seriously - if you have never donated or it has been a while, and you're able to donate, please consider doing so. I was sitting in the back for maybe 45 mins so I just upped & left. I understand wait times may vary but come on, new donors are usually supposed to get the next available bed but there was a bunch of other people in the return line being seen ahead of me. I was in there for maybe a little over 2 hours & didnt even donate. NEVER AGAIN. I haven't been to the Audubon location but I know I damn sure won't be going to this one anymore.

I purposely went the week between Christmas and New Years thinking the traffic would be light and yes it was!! I was the only one in there when I got my test administered. The staff was plentiful when I went and the person, Luis, who did my test was pleasant. The only thing I thought was off putting is that no instructions were given to me about how to care for the area, no instructions were given if there was a side effect to the test. I'm a pretty boring vanilla type patient so I wasn't really all that concerned. But in today's litigious society I would have thought Concentra would have done this as a CYA - Cover Your Ass- measure. I had to come back to the test site to have my test "read" and there were a few people in the waiting room. I was thinking I would be there a while. The nurse asked me what I was there for at the registration desk and read my test right there. Quick and fast. I would not go back here because it's nowhere near where I live. They have weekend hours which is very helpful to those of us who work. "Look Ma- no TB!"
