Chicken Vodka Pie Slice Chicken Chicken, Bacon and Ranch Pie Slice
Tyler L.

Thin, with multiple slice options. The chefs are generally attentive and the slices are mostly fresh. This is close to my personal favorite style of pizza. Inconsistent, sometimes cold. Not horrible, not great

Pretty good. It says "Cestra's Pizza III" on the awning in the front - so this is either the third location or the third attempt. While not the greatest slice of pizza I've ever had, the slices are still very good. The dough is different than standard and the slices can be slightly larger than the norm. There is a good selection of rolls, calozones, knots, and the usual you'd find in a pizzeria. I've had the knots twice and one time they were on point and the other time not so much - not sure if the cooks change up, but things should be consistent. The calzones are pretty good. The fridge has an ok selection of drinks. There is a decent amount of seating and a sizable counter against the window for solo eaters. My main issue is the dirty tables. The times I have been here, the tables have mostly been dirty. It doesn't take long to wipe a rag across the tables, but they miss the mark with this. The staff here is basic - don't expect too much friendliness, unless you're a regular. Really would've been 5 stars, but the dirty tables, the slight lack of consistency, and the blah staff take it away. But generally speaking, a very good pizzeria for the area.

I had their Caesar chicken slice. These guys pay attention, they make sure the elements play well together. Minimal sauce so the focus is the lettuce, chicken, and dressing.

Sad Margherita Pie

Severely Disappointed!!! Ordered my first Margherita Pie and what a flop! Looks sloppy, little cheese and basil! Not good and will never order this again. I've always ordered great food from Cestra's but this time it was a miss! And to add insult to injury... it's was cold. (And no, I didn't pick up late)

Chicken bacon ranch slice

The pizza here is bomb! I'm so glad I decided to come here because no other pizza in the area could compare to ME - and my bf agrees. I love their plain cheese slices, they are perfectly thin and cheesy and foldable. The garlic knots vary but I always order them. And the chicken bacon ranch slice will forever be my guilty pleasure. The tables tend to always be dirty but besides that minor set back I can't complain. Tip: Ask for your pizza not too hot if you're super hungry and need to eat ASAP

Uncooked bacon

I was told the bacon comes pre-cooked. At which part does the bacon look cooked? Then dashes another slice on the counter with an attitude. Will be contacting

The GOAT of Bronx Pizza. Period…read more If you want to know what real New York City pizza is supposed to taste like, stop looking and get to Louie & Ernie's on Crosby Ave. This isn't just a meal; it's a Bronx institution. The Vibe: Old School & Authentic This place is as "old school" as it gets. It's located in the basement of a house, and walking in feels like stepping back into 1959. There are no fancy decorations or "artisanal" gimmicks--just the smell of fresh dough and a gas oven that's probably seen more history than most museums. * Pro Tip: It is CASH ONLY. Don't be that person who gets to the counter with a card; come prepared. The Pizza: The Best in the Bronx I've had a lot of pizza, but this is easily the best in the borough. * The Crust: Paper-thin, perfectly salty, and has that signature "Bronx fold" with just the right amount of char on the bottom. * The Sausage: This is their claim to fame. They use huge, fresh chunks of sausage that are packed with flavor. It's heavy, it's greasy in the best way possible, and it's legendary. * The Sauce/Cheese: The ratio is perfection. The sauce is tangy and bright, and the mozzarella is creamy and never "rubbery." The Service The staff here are exactly what you want in a legendary neighborhood spot--friendly, fast, and no-nonsense. They keep the line moving, but they treat you like a regular even if it's your first time. Verdict: 10/10. It's simple, it's classic, and it's the king of the Bronx. If you haven't been, you're doing NYC wrong.

For a place that does slices there's a LOT of searing options, both inside, and this area out the back which is pretty good.

A good out of the way pizza shop in the Bronx. This is behind other buildings, near townhouses and…read moreapartments. Mostly had Fordham college students eating there. I think people only go here because they know about it, or like us, find it randomly on Google maps. There is a little parking lot. The pizza and pasta were both good. NYC style! The restaurant is filled with paraphernalia, photos, graffiti, and other knick-knacks. I don't think that was for show, they just never throw anything out. Even Mr. Pugsley himself was sitting in an overstuffed chair, falling asleep with his X-Mas hat in the front of the store!

When I came in and announced that we were first timers, the extremely friendly Jonathan rang a bell…read morefor us. We thoroughly enjoyed a plain slice to start. It's got a thin crust, nicely charred, and the sauce was well balanced, not too tart or sweet. We followed with a penne vodka slice to which I added the recommended hot pepper oil. The pasta was cooked just right and quite tasty and chewy. Finally, I had to try the new tricolor slice - thick stripes of red sauce, vodka sauce and pesto. Delicious combo. Pugsley's is not easy to find but definitely worth seeking out. If you attend Fordham, you already know it, but otherwise, its located in a building that hasn't changed much - outside or inside - that looks like a high school hangout from the 60s or 70s.

I mean very busy, with vehicular…read moretraffic, pedestrians, and your food delivery guys on their (mostly) electric bikes zooming by. So, parking is a ball breaker. After you get situated with finding parking, better yet, take mass transit if you can, you'll find a non descript pizzeria. It's CASH ONLY ** they have ATM's inside for your convenience, which I had to use and I think the fee was 2.50$ but I'm not sure. The pizzeria slices are HUGE.-ginormous- colossal!! I thought it was going to be superficially large pizza with a horrible taste. ON THE CONTRARY - NO! The pizza was delicious and I found the salt content to be reasonable, perfectly salted. I paid 38$ for the super sized pizza. My kids devoured it, while my wife took pictures of of the kids eating their kite sized pizza slices. I highly recommend this "Bronx Style" pizzeria. The pizza is well cooked, medium to thin sized pizza and the ratio of cheese to tomato sauce is distributed evenly with a slightly cheesier taste than tomato.

But the fact of the matter is the quality of the cheese and dough is not up to par. The pizza resonates of low quality mozzarella cheese and poor quality bread. I've been eating here on and off for many years and the quality of the product has deteriorated. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless they wanted to "try that place that they heard of on social media or from a friend who ate here 20 years ago. it's just not worth it. They are better pizza places in the Bronx (Circle, Yankee Pizza, Ernie's, Tony's on Throggs Neck, Pugsley Pizza)z If the owner were able to improve on the pizza by incorporating better quality ingredients, I would definitely give it a shot again. I wouldn't even mind if they charged seven dollars a slice for that mammoth slice because it is very very big. But in its current incarnation, I would have to pass on a second round. It's just not worth the money because the taste and quality of the slice is so poor. What happened?!??
