Cesar's is definitely not the place to go if you are looking for a pretty bowl of seafood soup with fish chopped up and shrimp peeled. Sure, you can go to one of the upscale seafood restaurants and get a $26 plate of seafood with expensive sauces/pretty presentation and have your tastebuds happy for mere minutes and leave somewhat full. Or you could even go to of the tourist spots on the wharf/harbor and spend major bucks there too. OOOR you could go to Cesar's and get the real deal for under $10-$15 for their huge portions of seafood..burritos, soups, ceviches, cocktails..you name it they have it. The catfish soup at Cesar's is 100% authentic and there is no other served like it in SB. The soup comes in huge portion with huge chunks of catfish and yes, sometimes a tail. Cooking the fish whole ehances the flavor and makes the broth delicious. It also comes with big chunks of carrots, and cabbage. Hot, fresh tortillas on the side is the way to go. Don't forget the lime! They also do albondigas on Fridays. I've never had a problem with service, and love the crowd of families. Gives the place a familiar, comfortable vibe. Everyone there works hard and the dishes are a great deal for what you get. Big portions, lots of options for the fish dishes in regards to preperation. They have goblets of seafood cocktails served with different combinations of seafood. One of the best Mexican/Seafood restaurants on Milpas..in Santa Barbara in general. That and Lily's Taqueria...mmmmmmm! This spot is way undiscovered so go try it out! read more

Small mom and pop shop with good mexican food. Their burritos are HUGE and pretty tasty -- took me about 4 sittings to eat it all. Green sauce was yummy. Service was excellent. The lady who works here was incredibly nice! A very pleasant surprise. It was closing time, but she still let us order -- there was a couple who came in like 15 minutes after us that she let sit and eat too. Hospitality goes a long way. read more

I've stumbled upon this place years ago with the bf. One of our other Mexican joints had closed early for the night. So we decided to venture into this place. It was probably one of the best decision we made that year. Cesar's Place is a great Mexican Seafood restaurant. The shrimp cocktail is yummy. But my favorite is the shrimp burrito con bacon. Yup, you read it. With BACON! This is memorable. Who would've thought shrimp and bacon wrapped in a burrito? Did I mention it was huge? I was told about the place's shrimp cocktail. I didn't know anything else about the place. I ordered the coctele camaromes? and a torta. The shrimp cocktail was really good. It was Mexican style with chunks of tomatoes, avocado, and tons of shrimp in a huge fishbowl glass. It was $10 but totally worth it. I wasn't sure if it would be enough and ordered a steak torta and ended up bring half of the sandwich home. The torta was not so good. It was bland. I recommend the shrimp cocktail. =D read more

Worst Fish and Chip's I've ever had... The fish filet's, including the batter, were cardboard thin; the corn meal used to batter the filet with was thicker that the fish filet itself. I got an upset stomach after trying to eat a couple of the filets... I sent the plate back, and paid full price anyway, and even left a tip. read more

I would consider myself a conoisseur of micheladas, and this is by FAR the BEST MICHELADA I have ever had. Yummy! I went in thinking I would share one with my boyfriend and I ended up having 2 full ones to myself. Oh, and did I mention they are giant? We also had ceviche (YUMMY!) and 7 mares (good, not the best ever). The coctel mixto looked delicious too. Food came with tortillas and bread, too, which was great. Saturday afternoon - no wait time Service: waitress was very attentive at first and also apologized for the delay in food but after serving our food she was no where to be found. After asking another waitress for our check she comes back stating she had been on lunch and she will bring us the check. After another long wait we got up and asked for our check. Food: ordered agua chiles, shrimp enchilada a and gorditas. All pretty good but not amazing. Micheladas are also pretty good. I used to really love this place, but my last visit here will not have me returning. My husband ordered a tostada and chile verde plate. I ordered the taco and pulpo cocktail. We recieved out food minus the chile verde. Taco was good but my pulpo cocktail looked like someone chewed it up and spit it out. My hubby was waiting on the chile verde never came. It wasn't a big deal because he was already full from the tostada. We just assumed the waitress forget to put in the order, so when we got our check we were surprised that the chile verde was on there. No biggie we told the waitress, to our surprise she said we did recieve the chile verde. She pointed to the tostada. No sorry that is NOT chile verde. It didn't even have chile verde in it, it was carne asada. Then she pointed to the empty box. Really!!! , at this point I'm becoming frustrated as I open the box to show he it was empty . She's the one who brought the box out for our left overs. She the proceded to point to the 3 jalapeños that were on a plate. No sorry that isn't chile verde either. She then told us she will remove it from our tab. She came back and told us that the jalapeños is the chile verde. Really??? Are you fucking kidding me??? 3 jalapeños for $8.00 and she's insisting this is chile verde. She knows damn well that the 3 measley jalapeños sitting on a plate are NOT chile verde. So instead of arguing to here about it( which I already had been) we decided to PAY THE $8 for the 3 jalapeños on the plate. The waitress was rude about the whole situation. So I will never be returning here ever. I will let everyone know not to as well. P.s why does the bathroom constantly smell like shit here. Light a damn candle or something. Stopped into Cesar's Place en route from LA to SLO. A friend recommended we go to Super Rica, right down the street, but the line there was crazy long and we were getting hungry enough to consider eating our own wrists. We walked down the street and stumbled across Cesar's...in contrast to Super Rica, the place was almost empty, which made us a little worried. However, once our food came, we realized we made a good choice. The cerviche was great, as was the chile verde, and the service was polite, attentive, and helpful, and it certainly didn't hurt that the bill for two entrees, a starter, and two beers was under $30.00. Love this place. It is a very well kept secret. I always see everyone down the street waiting in that dumb line, for greasy mexican food with way too much cheese, at the blue colored place down the street and laugh. If they only knew that a black away was home to an amazing ceviche, or the delicious vuelve a la vida. One of my favorites though is any of the tortas served ahogada. The red sauce with chorizo that they smother the torta in is amazing. The wet burritos are delicious too. The green sauce that they mix with a little crema is great and spicy how i like it read more

So, I was really excited about the food but apparently there's no delivery. I call restaurant and place my order, asking if there's delivery like 3 times. She says yes until the end, at which point she says "We don't have delivery". Really confusing. I mentioned that she should talk to the manager or whoever is in charge of the page to remove the delivery tag from the Yelp page, but she just said "yes" like she did before and hung up. Worst Mexican food ever. I came here because I was told they had awesome mechiladas. Wrong. Worst mechilada I've ever had. You want a good mechilada go to to palapa or del pueblo at least they're original, where as this place just uses canned clamato. I hired Cesar's Place for my wedding and I got so many compliments on the food! We had the chicken and shrimp fajitas, fish ceviche, salad, quesadillas, beans, rice and Aguas Frescas. I couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out! Our previous caterer cancelled on us about a month before our wedding so we were pretty stressed out trying to find someone last minute. The best michelada and shrimp cocktail I've ever had, and I tried both at countless places. What I love about both of them is that they are perfect "as is" and nothing else needs to be added- no additional salt needed, no more lime juice....they come out perfect every time and do not need any doctoring up. The waitresses are very nice, the service is a little slow at peak times but the food is definitely worth the wait. I have ventured all over their menu and have not been disappointed with anything except the fish and chips which were too salty for my taste. This is now my go to place for seafood and I recommend this place to anybody who loves a good cocktail and to die for michelada. read more

Was here this past weekend. The service was spot on, the coctel de camarón was sweet and filling, and the micheladas were just right. I asked for some extra limón and fresh chopped chile on the side and the chef happily accommodated me. The vuelve a la vida was good too, though I preferred the shrimp cocktail. There is an embarrassment of riches of good Mexican restaurants on Milpas. Add this one to your quiver if another is closed or the line is too long elsewhere. read more
