I always look forward to the food at Cesar's. Today I was not only disappointed in the food but equally disappointed that the cook would think it acceptable to serve it to a customer. I ordered Huevos Rancheros. The over easy eggs with burnt edges were placed on top of a cold and hard (not crisp) and tortilla. The sauce was just regular green table salsa poured over the eggs. The cubed potatoes were plain and tasteless and the beans bland. Do better for your future customers read more

I was in the mood for the best ceviche in town so I had to go to Cesar's Place on Milpas. Very delicious and such a large portion!! I chose the combo option that came with fish, shrimp and octopus. All for $13! Such a deal for that amount I got. My husband got the carne asada plate which was also very generous. He enjoyed every bite! He assumed the green peppers were bell peppers but they're actually jalapeños! With seeds! Very spicy so beware. But also very delicious. It's just nice to know in advance. Yikes! Both dishes came with a side of chips and salsa (even for takeout which was awesome!) I love the salsa! It's very thin with seeds which makes me think it'll be very spicy, but it was actually a medium spiciness and really great flavor! A wonderful dinner to start my 5 day weekend. Yum! read more

The food here is great! We always come here because my wife enjoys their Mojarra dish. Service is good and so is the overall ambience of the place. Not much to note since it is like your typical Mexican Restaurant, not that it's a bad thing though. I walked by a table eating fish and it looked exactly like the fish you get by the lake in Honduras (I know, not Mexico, but you get the idea.) My husband asked for a specific burrito to avoid all meat and dairy and they did great! Didn't even put cheese or dressing on his salad or beans. (If you're not vegan this sounds like a no brainer, but to all my vegan friends, I know you know what I'm talking about.) His dinner was delicious and filling! Restaurant parking is located in the back or there is street parking as well. Every time I come to Cesar's place, my go to drink is and always will be a michelada. They add a salted rim on the huge glass. Most restaurants overprice micheladas but Cesar's place is so affordable! They definitely give you a bang for your buck. The micheladas are always made perfectly, just enough beer and just enough Clamato as well. Besides the micheladas, the food is delicious! The fish ceviche is super fresh and tasty. I will have to say that I usually order takeout but I was finally able to enjoy a plate at its location and finally able to write this review. I will have to take a star away as service was just not up to par. After we were provided salsa and chips, we did not see our waiter after our plate was served. Thankfully, we didn't need anything else but it's always nice to make sure your clients are satisfied. I would have to take another star away because once we were told to pick a seat, we noticed that the tables that were available, were not cleaned up properly. I would understand if they were completely swamped with clients, but that was just not the case on this day. Now when it comes to food, a star is definitely added! Our favorite plate will have to be the Ceviche Mixto! It is such a large portion, that me and my fiancée always have to share! Another favorite will have to be their Micheladas! I highly recommend given it a try. I'm usually not a fan of Micheladas but this one is my absolute favorite! It's unique taste is just so delicious! if you'd like decent service this is NOT the place to go. We came with a party of 13 people & had mentioned we needed the check split in 3 checks BEFORE HAND. They said it was too much work and they would add an additional 15% if we wanted to do that.. I have never heard such a ridiculous thing. My grandmothers soup came so late that everyone was practically done with their food & it was extremely salty. When I wanted to order something a little later than everyone else (I came a tad late) and I asked if I could order something and the waiter rolled his eyes. I didn't even need a menu I knew what I wanted. My fiancé never got a refill when he asked for one. Our waiter never checked on us. And it took us over 20 minutes to figure out how to do our bill. First, come here with patience as the service tends to be very slow! Our waitress was ok at first but then she disappeared on us and I had to flag another waitress down. Maybe ours went on break or something but it was very rude to not be tended to! Aside from the horrible service here if you're looking to try something different away from all the other Mexican cuisine hot spots in town then give this place a try. This place is mostly known for their huge seafood cocktails, ceviche, and micheladas. I highly recommend the ceviche! You can order it several ways. They offer shrimp, fish, octopus, or a combo. My favorite is the fish or shrimp! Ask for tostadas on the side so it doesn't get soggy sitting underneath the ceviche. Add some tapatio and lime and you'll be in heaven. I haven't tried the shrimp cocktail but my cousin raves about it. I wanted to order something different this time so I opted for the Chile Colorado. This dish was flavorful but the meat was too dry! It tasted like the pork had been sitting around for awhile. I couldn't even eat more than a few bites. I would have sent it back if we hadn't been left high and dry for so long without service! So I finally ordered the fish ceviche to go once our waitress came back from her break. Micheladas - They are delicious but a little too salty for my taste. They overdue it with the salted rim so if you're on a low sodium diet then ask for no salt on the rim! The color is darker than most places. But it is flavorful. Money Saving Tip - Do Not purchase any bootleg movies or CDs here! You might see a guy walking around trying to sell them to you but save your money and pass on that! There's nothing better than a sunny, warm day in Santa Barbara except when you have to stand in line just to get in the door of a restaurant. Today, was one of those days. Four places I checked out were just not worth the wait so I found Cesar's Place. No lines here so did that mean the food wasn't any good? Oh, no. Went there for the first time by accident back in April 2023. This is the best authentic Mexican food restaurant I have been in a long time. Service is great. Food is great. They specialize in sea food. Thete is no short cuts on preparing the food. We cook very authentic and I'm very happy with their food. I will always recommend this place to everyone.
