Making it work meant making my arrangement primarily fillers with occasional flowers and at the end if it all...it did not meet my vision. I really wished that they had told me up front that the desired look cannot be achieved with my budget. Then we can move on to a different look or not do it at all. Instead the arrangement was made primarily with the budget as the driving force at the compromise of my vision. The designer was soft and sweet and tried to amend the situation but ultimately nothing different could be done because the arrangement had already been made. At the end of the day, the shop is beautiful and they have amazing selection of flowers beyond your plain roses and tulips. However, I do not recommend ordering an arrangement if you have a specific inspiration in mind. Im sure if you give the designer creative freedom, it would turn out fine. I will probably be back only to pick my own stems and create my own pieces.

I'll definitely return once I have more space and better conditions to add more plants. The snake plants I purchased are Sansevieria Fernwood and Sansevieria Zeylanic. Every single person I spoke with, whether on the phone or in person, was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely excited to help. You don't run into that combination often, especially when you're wandering around trying to remember the difference between "full sun," "partial sun," and "Texas sun," which is basically its own category. And don't get me started on the pronunciation of the some of the plants I looked at... LOL The selection at Moon Valley is incredible. If you're trying to turn your backyard into a personal paradise, this is the place. They've got everything from statement trees like the Texas Mountain Laurel (which I'm convinced is the botanical equivalent of a luxury car) to colorful shrubs and bright, cheerful plants that make your yard look like it actually has its life together. There are so many trees there, so its a gimmie they will have someone for everyone. The staff walked me through care tips, placement ideas, and even helped me load everything up without making me feel like I was about to drop a plant worth more than my truck. They made the whole experience easy, enjoyable, and honestly kind of fun. I left with great plants and zero stress, which is rare, because usually when I buy plants, I'm already apologizing to them in advance for their future. If you're anywhere near McKinney and want quality plants backed by people who truly know their stuff, Moon Valley Nursery is the place. They helped me take a big step toward making my backyard the oasis I've been imagining, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. This review is solely for their landscaping design services based on the designer I worked with. I…read moreinitially started conversations with them in Fall 2025 and we developed a beautiful plan that included reshaping and expansion of my front flower bed. We also decided that late February was the better time for installation. Through these initial conversations, my designer was great. Easy to get a hold of, super nice and friendly and just very easy to work with. As we got closer to February, I decided I wanted to keep my flowerbed shape and size. Well, that meant my project was less revenue, and that's when service went downhill. I asked for a redesign to keep my flowerbed at its original shape and size. If expectations were set up front that it would take as long as it did to get the new quote, it wouldn't have been an issue but this designer consistently promised dates and deadlines that were never met - and I had to be the one to follow up every single time. When the designer finally responded to me (multiple texts and a couple calls just went unanswered), it was mentioned (for the first time) they have a dollar minimum and after I asked to leave my FB shape/size as is, I would be under that minimum. We were now just a few weeks out from my install date so I was very frustrated. I finally had to call the owner to complain about the continual promises for a new quote that continued to not get sent my way, and now this apparent minimum that was never mentioned previously. The owner was great and assured me I'd have the new quote within two business days and that he'd waive the minimum for me given my poor experiences thus far - and I finally received the new quote as promised. Install day came around and some of what was planted wasn't even what we agreed to in my quote. Now knowing what I know after working with a new nursery designer, some of what was planted shouldn't even be getting full sun which they are - so naturally, those aren't doing well and need to be replaced. I would think this is bare minimum for what a designer should know. Sometime after the install date, I reached out because I felt the FB looked too bare when I wanted it to look full (and I realize the plants still had a lot of growing to do). They agreed to add a few more grass plants along with additional ground cover to fill up space. All three grass plants died within days, and the ground cover looked so randomly placed, it looked like a child did it. Plus, The ground cover is supposed to be a shade only plant and has been getting full sun. This is in addition to the fact that they had to replace a skyline holly tree twice within just a couple months. And the new grass plants they added weren't even the same varieties as the others and looked wildly different in every way possible. After the second install where those additions were planted, I was really unhappy with it all. I repeatedly reached out to my designer to try to figure out a plan and it was pulling teeth AGAIN to get a response. I know people are busy, but there's zero excuse to not even take two seconds to send a text. There was at least two instances where they were supposed to come by to discuss issues and my disappointment with the finished work and completely no-showed, not even a text. If I did this more than once to my clients, I wouldn't have a job. She finally came by one afternoon to discuss a plan but at this point, I'd had too much disappointment and lost trust in this designer. I never received another quote as discussed (which sadly I didn't even expect to at this point), so I just gave up and called Calloway's and paid to work with a new designer. Sadly, I feel as if my project was simply too small for them to warrant decent customer service from the designer. I've attached several photos of my FB, which looks like work I could have done myself - or any other non-professional. It just looks terrible. The first several photos are after the first install, and the last are after the additions. Extremely disappointed, but I'll reiterate that the owner was great.

We did leave with some good outdoor options and will be back for more after we plant what we did buy. They price ranges start at about $15 and go up from there. They even have some indoor cacti already in pots and cool containers as well. It's a place I will definitely poo in from time to time as we grow our new outdoor cacti collection. 4 stars because I am leaving room for the improvement and growth of the inventory and business. I picked the tree I liked and got a beautiful pot for it. He repotted the tree, trimmed leaves and branches. Very cool to see him at work. He did wonderful job and answered all of my questions. He is a bit older but damn he knows his bonsai. There were so many different kinds and he gave us information on all of them. He could definitely teach a class. In fact, I suggest following his blog. He recently did an outing where he brought some of his blog followers to a creek bed and did a bonsai dig! His nursery is run out of home and you can visit by appointment only. Don't let that discourage you though. He is very accommodating and has customers from all over the US including Colorado and Michigan. There are a few outdoor sections as well as a greenhouse for the tropical varieties. What I thought was super cool is that he has a section with all the pottery, decorations, wires, and shears. I have not seen that anywhere else. There is even a well trained dog that follows Ray around but does not go into the garden sections. How sweet! I cannot wait to come back here!
