I had given a picture of an arrangement that I want made....but what I got was so different. The store had given me a price range, I responded with a budget and they said they can make it work. Making it work meant making my arrangement primarily fillers with occasional flowers and at the end if it all...it did not meet my vision. I really wished that they had told me up front that the desired look cannot be achieved with my budget. Then we can move on to a different look or not do it at all. Instead the arrangement was made primarily with the budget as the driving force at the compromise of my vision. The designer was soft and sweet and tried to amend the situation but ultimately nothing different could be done because the arrangement had already been made. At the end of the day, the shop is beautiful and they have amazing selection of flowers beyond your plain roses and tulips. However, I do not recommend ordering an arrangement if you have a specific inspiration in mind. Im sure if you give the designer creative freedom, it would turn out fine. I will probably be back only to pick my own stems and create my own pieces. read more

Not sure if this review had anything to do with it. --------- I hate to leave negative feedback but I was pretty disappointed in my experience with dirt flowers. Because of the high reviews online I had pretty high expectations. I specifically emailed and messaged asking for an arrangement for my daughter's one year old birthday. I even shared the image of a previous bouquet/arrangement made by dirt flowers in an email thread. Instead, I got a very dark arrangement that looks very inappropriate for a one year old's birthday. While it might suit someone else's style for a unique arrangement, this is not what I wanted or expected for $150. I understand that it was a designer's choice arrangement but my expectations were incorrectly set when I was told that my request could be met. Secondly, I asked for a more specific timeframe for delivering the flowers. I was told that I could call the day before to see if a time range could be provided. Whoever I spoke to said they could try to deliver in the early afternoon. Instead, on the day of, I got a call close to 11am (when I thought it would be delivered) saying they would start on the arrangement then because they just got fresh flowers. While I appreciate the fact that my flowers were the first to be delivered that day (at 2:30p), again, I felt that my expectations were incorrectly set. For a $10 delivery fee, this is pretty ridiculous. Overall, I'm just disappointed with my experience, wasted $150, and now have an arrangement that we cannot even use for any of the photos. I even reached out to them with this feedback. They apologized and asked if I wanted a new arrangement or what I would like for them to do. I told them the birthday had passed and if they would reconsider a 50% refund. Since then, no response whatsoever despite following up again. Very disappointed. read more

My husband and I selected a wedding date that left us ONE WEEK to plan the event. When I called DIRT on a Wednesday to tell them I was getting married that Saturday and wanted a flower crown, a bouquet, and a boutonniere, they were nonchalant about the whole thing, reacting as though I hadn't made a totally bonkers request. They asked for an email with some pictures, so I sent LOTS of inspirational photos, including color swatches, a list of my preferred flowers, etc. After that, I granted DIRT complete creative control, which was absolutely the right move! Linda was in constant contact with me, patient even through a phone call while I was at work and talking to five other people simultaneously. She also let me know which flowers weren't available at the market, and then she sent me photos so I could share them with my makeup artist! On a financial note, I was very nervous about the cost of the flowers, because the shop itself is a little pricey, but Linda's quote was MUCH less than expected. Ultimately, I don't know how much the flowers cost, because my father went with my groom to pick them up and then forcibly paid for them...now he conveniently claims he doesn't remember the total. Now that I've been spoiled with gorgeous flowers, I hope to have a new flower crown (or halo, as they call them) for every special occasion. As you can see I don't leave reviews. But this was a very special occasion and, having ordered many times from DIRT Flowers it was a no-brainer for me. I was greeted, kinda, and explained I'd like a small bouquet and matching boutonnière. I explained my budget was small because I only needed a small bouquet with wildflowers and ONE sunflower. The associate made comments such as, "Good because only one sunflower is in your budget." and "Your budget SHOULD get you wildflowers, but I'll request them." I requested that the only yellow in the bouquet be a single sunflower because that is what I call my fiancé. I got a bouquet full of yellow roses, a single white rose, some other yellow flowers I don't know what they are, NO SUNFLOWER and a couple of chamomile stems Chile after I let her condescending attitude slide I still didn't get my sunflower nor wildflowers! The bouquet was nice but the entire sentiment was lacking. For a reenactment of a first date-turned proposal, DIRT Flowers really disappointed this time and made me look lame af. read more

What I ordered vs what I received.... I scheduled a pick up noon. I told them that's not what I ordered. I was told that the flowers pictured on line would be delivered later. Fine, remake it like picture on line. I left work early to come back for a remade order. Once again, it was nothing like the online example. I made a comment about the size of the arrangement then it was explained that those flowers aren't in season after I was told they would be in later. No compromise was offered. Favorite shop on the street, a great place for plant-lovers and new enthusiasts alike. In a city that's busy with imitating the pace and consulting/finance businesses of the East Coast (looking at you, NYC), I must admit the part I feel more at home is this little neighborhood that reminds me of the West Coast. (Abbott Kinney, anyone?) This place offers lots of different plant and flower arrangements but does desert plants best, which I got into after living in the desert that is LA. There are succulent arrangements everywhere. I walked away with my second airplant and lots of advice on how to care for it. If you purchase the plant without the arrangement, it can be a pretty reasonable price. And if you don't have a green thumb, this is a great place to visit so you can hang out with plants anyway! read more

I showed them a picture of what I desired, and they provided me with a quote. When I returned to get the flowers, the quote remained the same; however, it wasn't shared with me that I need to order the specific flowers I wanted. I had two dried flower arrangements that were tired, had been partially nibbled by our (hellion) cat, and had been packed and moved across a few states more than once...., it was definitely time to update them. I loved my containers, a sort of urn that had a topiary in it, and a stone basket with a floral design. I took my time to research a floral designer that seemed to have the style I wanted, and that was also evidenced by the photos on the website, which was Dirt Flowers. An added bonus for me was that Dirt Flowers is open on both Saturdays and Sundays, so I could drive down to visit them on the weekend (I live in Grapevine, they are in Bishop Arts in Dallas). I took my containers in and spoke with Sonya, the owner of the florist. I told her what I wanted, she took notes about a few things I liked and didn't like (styles, colors, etc...), and then I also emailed her a few photos of the rooms in which I wanted to place the arrangements. I was in no hurry, and because we had agreed on a price range and a maximum price, I was not concerned about the outcome. The innate detail put into the layout and design of this place is insane. It's not just a floral shop, but a gallery. A gallery of wonder. Wondrous plants ranging from cactus, magnolias, hydrangeas, and God knows what else. But I do know that it is all beautiful. A rustic, minimalist beautiful. Usually I am pleased with the quality of their arrangements but not on this particular visit. I came in asking for a small bouquet - i was willing to spend around $50 which is a reasonable amount considering i did not purchase a vase. I was immediately given a smirk and the girl was not very willing to allow me to pick the flowers. I was also told that I was unable to ask for a peony because they were too expensive. I walked out of the store with approximately 6 flower stems and some eucalyptus i could've paid $2 for at trader joes. I am sorry but this is not a $50 bouquet. The women in the shop also made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I have not even left the street and am considering returning these flowers. This is the second time my husband has given me flowers from Dirt. I had been showing him pictures from their posts on Facebook. However I've been very displeased with both, especially this, my flowers he sent me last week (1 week ago) for Mother's Day. First of all, they look like fall foliage, not something bright and fresh for spring. Secondly, I had to take them out of the wooden container because it would leak water all over my counter and floor. So, with these fall flowers my husband spent a small fortune on, I get extra housework and the additional trouble of finding another container that won't leak. The customer service was completely rude and disrespectful. I was trying to place an order for two different friends-- one because of a tragic loss/funeral and the other was celebrating a new baby. The girl who answered the phone today could have cared less. She said they absolutely couldn't do any deliveries until NEXT WEEK, because they had a big order. I kindly asked if there was any exception for this and they said no and couldn't wait to get off the phone. I was in shock that I was talked to that way. This is completely unacceptable, and if they are not able to taking new orders then don't answer the phone and be rude. Order more delivery drivers. Offer a 3rd party courier service to deliver...I would have happily paid extra. But with how I was treated today-- not ok. I work in customer service and I'm kind of people every single day. How this business treated me today (and also with my last order) is not how you treat a consumer when this location services all the DFW but it is remotely located. I would have added some photos but when I looked around I saw the "no photograph" sign... other than that I could easily say I've never been to a place like it. Dirt is truly a one of a kind! I didn't know what to expect before I walked in and I wish I could give you a comparison to help you picture it. They specialize in odd styles of plantings, re-use of interesting containers and also have dried flower "art." They have hanging plants, small succulents, just interesting stuff! Every time I'm in Bishop Arts, I visit DIRT Flowers. They have a beautiful selection of succulents, air plants, and flowers. Their floral arrangements are inspiring. I saw an amazing arrangement at a neighboring store that DIRT did for them so I had DIRT recreate it for me. My only qualm is that their flowers and plants are on the pricey side so I only make a purchase now and then. read more
