Service went down after a storm and was not restored for nearly 4 months. No internet at all. They simply don't have the capacity to deal with infrastructure issues in a timely manner. That's not the problem. The problem is that during this period they continued to bill me! I spoke with support 4+ times, and each time was assured that they understood the situation, I would not be expected to pay for the downtime, and that I would receive a credit for this entire period once service was restored. Guess what? Things were finally repaired and I was told I owed the whole amount FOR SERVICE I NEVER RECEIVED. Support was not great during this whole period, but suddenly they were downright rude and dismissive. Provided chat transcripts of the promises they made and they didn't care. It's a really great business model--offer nothing at all and then just bill people for it! I advise to avoid. read more

I ordered internet via Quantum Fiber / CenturyLink from a door-to-door salesperson because I was thrilled at the idea of cancelling Xfinity. So far, I am regretting my decision. The first install date, the crew sent out couldn't actually install our internet. (Good thing I didn't actually cancel Xfinity yet!). I was told to schedule with via chat / bot and told a real human wasn't available to schedule via phone. I verified via the chat that the installers scheduled for the following week would indeed have the skills to complete my install. I was reassured they were the right crew. The guy that showed up at my house had no idea about any of this, and didn't have the capabilities to install. So now I'm two weeks out from signing my contract, still no internet. I was told, via phone today, that someone would call me "soon" to schedule the correct crew to install. Oh, and the next dates were about 2 weeks out. Trying to get customer service or speak to a supervisor or really, just deal with a real human, is nearly impossible so far. However, over the past 6 months this company has become like any other conglomerate corporate owned business... zero customer service or support, call centers in other countries and zero service. They jacked up the rates and I still have no details on the package or how my mo bill went from $80/mo to over $300/months... tried reaching out to only get a clueless representative or virtual assistant moron‍ These companies lure you in with cheap rates... then they shut down local offices and go remote offering zero service!!! I am not a Century Link customer, but that didnt stop them from coming on to my property without permission or notice to tighten lines that go over the street.I guess they own the lines out here at Grant Park. they could not get thru the locked gate with their ladder, so they climbed on to my roof and tore the lines off my house damaging the facia, shingles and metal flashing. This was over a year ago. They left with no note no apology and no repairs for the damage. I have made numerous calls and sent photos to Sedgwick who is in Georgia I think and must specialize in ignoring complaints. I've not recd one return phone call or any attempt to rectify this situation. Shame on them. Just switched to Starlink and what a difference! I was stuck with Centurylink for years because of my rural location. Service was often down and it was impossible to get any kind of help from them. Their customer service reps are rude and often do not speak English to a degree that you can even understand them. They never offered any compensation for down time and charged me for 2 weeks even after I cancelled service. Worst internet provider on the planet! read more

Response: I was informed there was no outage, but the earliest technician appointment was scheduled for 10 days later on December 30, 2024. Notes: While I understand scheduling challenges, a 10-day wait for resolution is unacceptable for a utility as essential as internet service, but I recognize it was the holidays. December 20, 2024, 5:33 PM - Billing Inquiry with Chrissy M.: When I logged in to request an appointment I questioned why my bill had increased despite having a "price for life" agreement. Response: I was incorrectly told that "price for life" was not sold when I signed up, despite having documentation proving otherwise (my quote says what my price was for the first 36524 days, which is 100 years). Notes: This misinformation and denial of contractual terms were highly concerning, but I just wanted my internet back up. December 27, 2024, 5:26 PM - Follow-Up Chat with Shivam R.: I requested additional clarification about my billing issue. Response: I was told that I did have "price for life" but in July of 2022 my account was suspended for non-payment. Notes: I looked through my billing statements and saw that my credit card had expired in July of 2022 and I updated it the same day. People's credit cards expire all the time, it was remedied immediately. December 27, 2024, 5:50 PM - Phone Inquiry: I escalated my concern about the invalidation of my "price for life" agreement. Response: Agent told me that the documentation I have was "pretty damning, and I should keep that". He escalated it to his supervisor who would call me back by December 31st, never did. Notes: This lack of follow-through reflects a troubling disregard for customer concerns. December 30, 2024, 9:00 AM - In-Person Visit: A technician named Christopher identified the problem as being related to a "vault" issue outside my control. It required a cable technician who would probably be able to come the same day. Notes: Despite assurances, no technician arrived on December 30 to resolve the problem. The ticket got reassigned to 12/31. December 31, 2024, 4:00 PM - Follow-Up Phone Call with John: Received a text that someone would be out to fix between 11:45am and 3:45pm. Response: No one came, I called at 4:00pm and was told they'd be there at 5pm, they were running late. At 5:30pm I was told they would be there by 7pm. No one came and the ticket said it couldn't be rescheduled. Notes: I manually rescheduled the ticket to 1/2/2025 since 1/1/2025 was a holiday, January 2, 2025, 2:00 PM - Follow-Up Phone Call with Acquiles: Received a text that the system couldn't pick a 4 hour window but someone would be out between 8am and 5pm. Reached out to tech support. Response: I can see that the cable tech is busy today, but will be there by 5pm, Notes: No one came and it got rescheduled to 1/3/2025 January 3, 2025, 11:00 AM - Final Phone Call and Service Cancellation: After another call to customer service, I was informed that no update was available regarding the vault repair timeline. I'm using Quantum Fiber by CenturyLink-- I used CenturyLink for years prior to transferring over and never had a problem. Unfortunately the transition to Quantum Fiber hasn't been easy or particularly successful, from the sales pitch phone conversation to the actual installation of hardware. The techs no-showed the first two appointments and then finally arrived and basically did nothing besides unplug one modem and plug in the new one, leaving a mess when they left. Since then my wireless connection has gone in and out constantly despite me sitting 10 feet from the modem and router. I've been corresponding with Customer Service and I hope they can fix this but it hasn't happened yet! read more

I am using CenturyLink as a Quantum Fiber customer. The actual fiber internet service is good. Upload/Download speeds are quite good. However Quantum customer service is some of the worst I've experienced. I was having lots of problems with the Quantum provided 360 wifi pods. The problem was not the Internet service itself. Just the WiFi. So I returned the pods and installed my own WiFi system in home. This worked great and I returned the pods following Quantum instructions. There is NO WAY to remove the additional service of the wifi pods in your account. So I contacted Customer Service to ensure that the service was removed and I would no longer be charged for that. After a nearly 90 minute wait in a chat Queue, I told the service rep that I returned pods and UPS tracking gave me confirmation that they were recevied at Quantum. But the 360 Wifi was still in my account and I couldn't remove it my self. So Catherine (the Quantum CS person) said she removed it and I wouldn't be billed. Great! NOt terrible but the wait was a long time. I also gave feedback about very long wait times. Also when waiting in the chat, they don't have any audible alert letting you know you are up. So you can easily miss it if you are doing other things. Anyway, in my most recent bill, I'm still getting billed for a service that I don't need. Nothing was actually done and I have had to wait again for now 50 minutes in their queue to get something resolved that should have been taken care of. Get the service. It works well. Just don't pay for 360 Wifi. It's expensive and you will get better results with a WiFi router and a range extender. Quantum CS is absolutelyt terrible. read more

As of September 1 I've not had internet service for twenty-two days. Every since the outage began their website has been claiming the outage is temporary. For the past two weeks I've attempted daily to make contact online via "chat", and when that didn't succeed--the chat link seems to be dead--I've attempted to cancel my service (another link that seems not to function). When I've tried to use the contact Telephone number it usually rang endlessly-well, thirty to thirty-five times; the one time did I make a connection, an automated answering device, I was placed on hold until, after twenty minutes, I gave up. read more

I wish I could put a zero, not a one. I had the company since 1985, almost 40 years. They've gone deeply downhill in last 5 or so years. Last problem was that they wouldn't help me to fix my answering service. This went on for years. I had to buy a phone that had answering, because they.... . Whew. ' The last time I contacted them, I had my partner and tech wizz call and he us extremely good at talking about technical stuff on the phone. The first time the Cent Link person said they'd call back in 2 hours. Next time said 2 or so days. When I called for them to terminate my connection, the lady had a serious accent & there was background noise. So I kindly asked her to slow down, and she'd say sure or something like that. Then 2 minutes later she'd be talking fast. That same thing occurred at least 4 times. She told me that I wouldn't have to pay anymore. The of course I got a bill. I recently moved out to Washington from Arizona where I have had Centurylink for the last 5 plus years with no complaints. When I spoke to the manager of the Townhomes I was going to be renting from she told me that they have Centurylink as an option. So I kept my locked in amount and I was just transfering. Then I find out that here it is not Centurylink it is Quantum Fiber which I was told was their sister company. So I contacted them on 1/6 and the Customer Service person was very nice. I requested a tech to come to my home on Friday 1/10 the day I was signing my lease so no down time with work from home not out any money. To my surprise the CSR - said you dont need a tech those townhomes have instant wifi. No clue what that meant but it was explained that when I got there I would want to go and search for the modem, and log in like normal. Ok that sounds easy. She told me she had disconnected my Centurylink and charged me for the first month of Quantum. (I found out when looking at my bank account that she did not disconnect Centurylink so they took out the January payment - I only spent 10 minutes on the phone with them and the money was already back in my account) When I arrived on Friday with movers and people everywhere I was tryng to get online so that I could work from home later or in the morning - since that is what I do. Well I could not find the modem so after several hours on chat and on the phone with another CSR I am told that they needed to send someone out, which is why I scheduled this ahead of time. The soonest that they could get someone out was 1/15 - may not seem like long but when you work from home it IS. I asked if I could pick up equipment or use my own and was told that there was no office and no it had to be their equipment. The girl kept saying "I understand and I am sorry" - really stop reading from a card and just help me get this fixed. I got mad and frustrated so I thought that I would wait until the next morning and calm down. Saturday morning - I get up and get on the phone with them - I was on for 60 minutes and finally I requested a supervisor - to which I was told there was not one and then after about another 3 0 minutes and my explaining loss of income to this CSR she agreed to transfered me to a supervisor - the phone rang 2 and then said that the voicemail was not set up and it hung up on me. I went to a Xfinity office picked up the modem and was installed within 1 hour of hanging up with them. Then on Monday morning I went onto the Quantum App and found that they still had an appointment scheduled for a technician to come to my house on 1/15/25 between 12:00 AM and 4:00 AM. WTF who is going to let a stranger into their home in the middle of the night? I got on a chat with their support people and she kept telling me that she would cancel my service on 1/14/25 and then she said 1/15/25 . I asked her if she had read what I typed before that my service was never started why would I have to pay for anything? then she told me that it would 7-14 days and I would receive a check in the mail. Again I said no you took money out of my account before my service was even scheduled to start and now why should I wait this money need to be back in my account now (it is still not there 3 days later). This is truly a joke - instant wifi ----NOPE Since I still do not have the money back I am going to file a complaint with the FCC. read more

I had been using Xfinity Wi-Fi, and did not like it. Not so much the service just the company, when I saw quantum was in my neighborhood. I decided to go for it. Wow, what a mistake. I didn't think it was possible, but their customer service is actually much worse than Xfinity. Their Wi-Fi is also absolutely abysmal. It rarely works and in the nine months I've had it. I've needed to reset my modem close to 100 times. The speeds I get are maybe about 10% what they said they would be. When you go to the speed tester on their app it always says around 980 Mbps. When I test it with a third-party app, it's usually closer to 100. My service went out and I could not restart it. I spent hours between the phone and a chat, and I still never got a hold of anyone. This has happened several times. This is one of the worst businesses in existence. do yourself a favor and don't give them your money. read more

Similarly to many people posting here, I've found Quantum Fiber's customer service to be the worst I've ever experienced. Hour+ waits on the phone and 45 min wait for an online chat. In my case I was quoted $75/mo "for life" but have been billed $80/mo. I have been unable to correct this. The folks I reached after the long waits seem to know nothing and have no ability to change anything. It's a joke, but not funny at all. During the installation, the installer was unable to configure my modem and had to call in several times (line was dropped) and experienced a long wait for help. I'm seriously considering returning to Xfinity, which I used to think was horrible. But CenturyLink/Quantum has managed to make them look comparatively good. That's really saying something. The service has been fine, so perhaps I should have rated them "**". But the customer service is bad enough to negate that. read more

I read all of the bad reviews, and thought that I wouldn't get the terrible service; how could fiber-to-home go wrong? Well, it can and does go wrong. I was on Teams calls and my voice froze regularly. This only happened with CenturyLink, not the other home internet companies I've used, not at hotels, not at Starbucks or other cafes. But it happened intermittently many times a day with CenturyLink. Their technical support didn't fix the problem after multiple calls. Eventually I gave up and changed to T-Mobile home wi-fi which is working fine. You can't cancel on the web site, so be prepared for a 45 minute wait on the phone, after which they talk at you for quite a while trying to retain you. Just don't use this company. read more

Wow - the customer service of this company is horrid. If you ever want to cancel your plan with Century Link...good luck. The MBPS provided by this company (at least in our area) is very low. It is good for a laptop and a few phones, but once you want to add a streaming service or 2 and a home device, it just won't work. We wanted to switch companies since they couldn't provide more MBPS with their service, and the experience was an absolute nightmare. MULTIPLE times we were placed on hold with no return. We were straight up hung up on at least 3 times by different people, and each time we called back we had to repeat the process of providing our information. I strongly believe the staff is trained to hang up on customers that no longer want their business. In total it took about 5 hours just to cancel our plan, by some miracle of one of their staff just following through with our request. read more

Century link cancelled our service without telling us. Apparently our new servicer was supposed to be quantum fiber, but they had no idea. My wife and I both work from home and require internet access, so not having it was an emergency situation. Their customer service was no help, and having no local branches means you need to wait a very long time for someone to essentially tell they can't help you. When we called quantum fiber they told us they had a ton of people in a similar situation and couldn't come install our new service for 17 days. The DSL customers on my block were unaffected, so maybe some aspects of this company are ok. But if you need the gigabit bandwidth... spend the extra $15 and go with a competitor. read more

Probably, they provide you the works cursomer service in the entire U.S.. The agents are available only by chat, and the agent suddenly switch again and again. To replace my wifi pod, I need to communicate with 7 different agents and they ask me the same thing becuase they don't relay the issues. One told me he will have his supervisor call me, but I never get a call. Of course, he didn't provide me the supervisor's phone number. There are no way to reach out to the person. Atrocious -- if you have an email problem, there is no way to contact them. Direct human contact via phone is no longer possible. Instead you're directed to chat, or email them, however in both instances there is only a fractured blue circle that appears now and then, never progressing beyond that. A lengthy search is necessary to find an email address. It's been over a day now since since I requested help, and no response. I'm canceling my CenturyLink service today. Two weeks ago out of the blue, my internet started shutting off in the afternoon and would come back on by morning almost everyday. I've had this service since November. Attempts to talk to a human were impossible and there is no local office for customer service help. Tech support chat told me twice I was using too much bandwidth on too many devices even when sometimes I only had WiFi on my IPhone, nothing has changed in my internet use and even when I had a roommate for the month of December using more devices, I had no problems. For that reason, and because they raised their rates (giving me 2 days notice!), I decided to switch back to Xfinity (blech!). My service was up and down today, and when I called them (with the usual transfers and multiple disconnects), TWO different agents told me that the distributions were part of the process off stopping my service - which end date is FOUR WEEKS OFF! I made the mistake of leaving Comcast and trying CenturyLink. The Internet has gone out more in the last six months with CenturyLink than it did in six years with Comcast. Today it seems like my Internet should be working, but it was so slow that it took me a half an hour to download the CenturyLink app. Long story short, the app was useless and I could not contact a person on the phone. I had to use the chat function with CenturyLink customer service. All I wanted to know was how much notice I need to give CenturyLink before I switch back to Comcast. The customer service rep could not answer this very basic question and said I would need to call a cancellation specialist and that they are available Monday through Friday. Infuriating, but I already ordered my new service from Comcast. I will be happy to sever my relationship with CenturyLink permanently! Horrid experience all the way around. read more
