Compared to other reviews, I feel like mine is a small complaint, but we switched over to Century Link because of the somewhat lower prices per month. They only offer 1.5 mb speed in our area, but running a tight budget, we were hoping to get by with that. After the internet was installed though, we ran a few speed tests through the next couple days and it didn't even reach 1.5. So, so slow. Thankfully, they waived the first month's "internet fee", but we were still stuck with the installation fee (which we may have misunderstood, but thought they would waive) and now had a router we didn't need since we had bought instead of rented. (that's our fault. but couldn't be returned.) Still, dealing with their customer service is a real headache. Finally got the last bill paid and am so glad that I hopefully won't have to ever call them again. So much for saving money. read more

If I could give a company a negative review, I would. Have had horrible service over the past month. Very spotty availability, drops in and out while in use, and slow speeds despite being on a premium plan. When my internet went out this week, I talked with 8 different representatives, was hung up on twice, and ended with no solution. During the final call, it was agreed that a technician would come check the modem 3 days later during working hours. While it was an inconvenience to wait 3 days and take off time, the appointment was made with the note that the technician would need to call my number for entrance as I live in a locked apartment building. On the day of the appointment, no phone call was received but an email was sent saying access was not available and I would need to reschedule. I called immediately stating that I was here and was assured since there was 3 hours left in the range of service time, the technician would be calling with his updated arrival time. 3 hours later, no technician so I called their support line to be told by a very rude Steve that the appointment was rescheduled for 3 days later with no apologies then hung up on. Will be cancelling and have nothing positive to say about the internet and customer service I've received. read more

We switched all of our services over to CenturyLink in September 2015. We were quoted one price for our entire bill but we are being charged $40 + more. We've called a few times to have this explained to us, and we just get the run around. I did learn that $80 of our bill is service fees and taxes, which I find extreme. When we signed up we were also promised a $250 Visa gift card which we still have not received. When we inquired about this the customer service representative told us she has never heard of that promotion. She gave us a website where we can file a report, but we can't get logged into our account for some reason. I think we made a mistake. read more

I'm only giving this one star because it won't let me give them 0. We were told our bill would be 130.00 for the first 3 months and then 89.00 for the remainder of the time. We thought that was reasonable, considering we weren't getting anything fancy. Our first bill comes, it's 89.00. I think it's a little strange, but I pay it. Second bill comes in at almost 300.00. We called Century Link, they promised they would fix the error for the next billing statement. Next bill come in, 185.00. Unhappy AGAIN, we call them. They state they apologize for the error and PROMISE it will be fixed for next time. At this point we tell them we're done with cable. We don't want it if they can't even get the first couple months right. So we state we only want Internet, which he stated would be approx. 45.00. Another bill comes in and it's 135.00. Unhappy once again, I call. They put me on hold for close to 20 minutes. Finally, they let me know that there is NOTHING LISTED under my account for cancelling my service! WHAT? Also tells me there is no discount listed anywhere for anything Internet related. WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING OVER THERE? Seriously so annoying and frustrating. Shelling out money to this company after they've cut our cable OVER A MONTH ago. UPDATE 7/31/18: We recently moved to Florida and were told the modem we had purchased with CenturyLink would work anywhere with any company. Are we surprised they were wrong? Huge eye roll. 150.00 wasted. Also, when we went to cancel our bill they said they had been charging us for renting a modem for a year!!!! Still waiting for that refund if I ever see it. Seriously, CenturyLink is the BIGGEST scam. read more

First off, if you ever have a problem with your bill or your service and you call customer service, most of the time you will receive a rep who blames you for the problems or makes you feel as though you are some deadbeat customer. Their favorite game to play is for them to claim they sent out bills or other notifications to you, and when you call to tell them you never received anything they love to say, "Well, we have it on record that it was sent out on this date." Okay, that's great, but the fact remains, we still never received anything you are talking about! They will honestly tell you that it is not their problem that you didn't receive what you were supposed to because they show in their records it was in fact sent out. Due to the awful customer service, and the lack of internet functionality (it is ridiculous how many times we were told to turn off our modem and turn it back on to see "if that helps") we cancelled a year ago. Now imagine our surprise when we received a notice from a collections agency that said we owed WAY more than what our last bill even equated to. I had to deal with their lovely customer service again, and once again was told that they sent out notices that we were past due, and they aren't sure why we didn't receive anything, but there wasn't anything they could do on their end. When I told the rep that we paid our last bill over the phone she claimed there wasn't any record of us paying, and that if we did it must have gone into another account. WHAT? I love how they have all these records showing how many letters they sent via mail, but somehow the records have the innate ability to lose payments or are unable to process them. read more

If I could give Centurlink a zero I would. It's now been 13 days since I've been without Internet and a technician was supposed to show up yesterday and did not show. When I called they said they could have someone out in 4 days. If you have a choice, I would avoid Centurlink and go with Cox. read more

In my spare time, I work on Magic: the Gathering conventions as a contractor for a variety of different organizations at many different venues nationally. This is the third time in six years I have worked on a convention staff at this venue. This used to be one of my favorite venues to work at; it has transformed into one of the worst. When I first officiated here six years ago, people were very much still in recovery mode from the recession. Prices on food here were very reasonable, the staff was generous in how they worked with guests and staff, and I was overall just very impressed with the hospitality received. Over time, this venue has transformed into a monster, and this weekend highlights the very worst of convention experiences. The staff of the hall (not the Magic staff, but the CenturyLink staff) were incredibly condescending and frustratingly rude to guests and staff. Their hawkishness about a simple coffee being brought in early in the morning just sets the tone for people visiting of "you are not welcome here." Moreover, their prices on food and beverage are some of the highest I've seen nationally, west coast to east coast, and even asking for more dressing on a salad got me a harsh "no" and a lecture from the cashier. The food is actually poor in quality and heavily overpriced. If you want to make more concession dollars, pissing people off at the door and overcharging them at the stand is a sure fire way to not achieve the results you want. This is all indicative of piss-poor training and piss-poor management. The bottom line: I would never attach my brand to how this venue treats people. The city is great and Omaha is very warm and hospitable. This venue, however, is the antithesis of all that guest service and hospitality should be. read more

Enrolled in Autopay on 12/4. Noticed that November Bill was not paid via Autopay. I checked my online account and it said the total for November and December would be 12/31. On 12/18 got an email saying the entire amount for both months would be Autopaid on 12/18 and in all caps - NO ACTION IS REQUIRED. Then on 12/29 they disconnected my services because I did not pay November. 2 days before I had an autopay expected to go. I tried to navigate their customer service maze. Even got a guy who could barely speak english. Most of their customer service people are just employees also caught in a conglomeration of bad processes and policies. So bad this was comical. read more

I would choose 0 stars if I could. I am in my first month of service, they lost my payment. I called and was hung up on, the next call the lady told me to shut up and transferred me. If there was ever a company and their product/services which I had purchased and used in the past but so hate the experience of doing business with them, it would be Century Link! I have used at least 5 different internet providers across the country from Comcast to Mediacom to Cox and TimeWarner. I don't know how CL stays in business. God help ya if you need to speak with someone at the company for ANY reason, because after you wait a minimum of 20 minutes on hold during open hours that are not very consumer friendly (closes at 5 pm on Fridays and no weekend hours), you will encounter rude and snarky representatives who obviously don't have their calls monitored. After I ended my internet service 4 months prior and then CL continuing to charge me (direct bank withdrawl, so don't do that with them), I finally got a refund check in excess of $120! It took me contacting the Iowa Utilities Board in DSM to file a complaint against them for a lack of payment after being overcharged. I called CL 4 times in the course of 3 months, only to be told the "check was on its way..." I would go without WiFi if they were the only provider of internet service where I might live in the future!! read more

Horrible customer service!!! Was on auto pay, card was lost. Set up new auto pay, wouldn't credit me late fees back. Rep. Save yourself the frustration and headache. Saving $30 just isn't worth it. Stick with Cox. I have only had this internet service for under two weeks. I just cancelled it and they told me I would have to be billed for the entire month (Which is fine... not a big deal). However they left an exposed wire in a walkway in my backyard and also in my neighbors back yard. I spent over an hour and a half disconnecting service and trying to get to the right department for them to remove this wire... I still don't have anyone set up to remove it. In addition to their customer service reps not knowing anything about how to get this done, the Language barrier (English is my first language) prevented the reps from being helpful. In the end I ended up hanging up due to the last and final rep saying it sounded like I was really low and asked me to speak up. I was screaming in the phone like a mad woman at this point. Take my advice and just don't do it. read more

Terrible customer service. Internet speed is fast, when it works. Equipment provided is also subpar. On three different occasions over the past three months, I've had modems replaced by....refurbished modems that stopped working. And when you call their reps? They're lack of knowledge only exacerbates the problem. I have a printed transcript of a webchat detailing a modem order that magically was never placed in their end. Order number? Disappeared. Record of chat on their end? Disappeared. I've experienced nothing but disappointment and dissatisfaction by CenturyLink. If anyone is considering their services...RUN AWAY. read more

I have been waiting to get my internet hooked up for over three weeks. I have spoken to at least ten different reps that have not resolved the issue. This is the worst service I have ever received from a company. I asked to speak with supervisors nearly every time I called and none seemed to be available. I still don't have internet. I have also incured additional data usage on my phone from the three weeks of no service. I'm assuming they won't pay the extra $150 of charges for this. I was told a tech would be out first thing this morning... Guess what no tech. I also asked to have a supervisor call me to discuss all of my issues by 9 am... Guess what no call. I will most likely cancel my service and continue to write bad reviews. read more

If you are interested in spending an obscene amount of time dealing with poor customer service then CenturyLink is the company for you. The supervisors are as equally incompetent as their customer service agents. They lack the ability to provide a correct bill, resolve billing issues in a timely, follow through on promises, or provide service that does not continually experience outages. Cox was more expensive with slower internet, for us at least, but at least they knew how to get a bill Right. read more

I could write a book on the messes they have made!!! every month my bill gets screwed up and I have to call. customer service is horrible. wait time on phone ridiculous. Agents on the phone are totally clueless, not trained. each one give you different info and says the previous one was wrong! Dont bother talking to anyone but a supervisor. It's hard to imagine a more unpleasant customer service experience. Not only did the service never work, but Centurylink tried to swindle us out of our money by claiming that services began much earlier than they actually did when we tried to cancel. After several arguments they finally realized they were wrong. One customer service rep was very rude with us, keeping answers short and curt. When we cancelled and mailed the modem back, the lady at the UPS store told us she is constantly sending those back because of poor service and that they should be ashamed of themselves. They charge to make payments online and over the phone. Spend the extra money on an internet service that actually works. read more

This is the email I sent to century link after being hung up on by a supervisor after being on hold between 2 days a total of 4 hours! : I have spoken to 6 different people at century link. I have spoken to 3 different supervisors. I first spoke to technical support around 11:30pm on October 6th until approximately 1am October 7th. Our service was shut off in Century Link error. Your company was billing us to 2 separate addresses when we've lived in our new residence for over a month. We even paid $100 termination fee to direct tv who we had bundled with for over a year & a half with you & them in order to get prism TV and just stay with your company. Over the past almost 2 years I have encountered a problem almost EVERY SINGLE MONTH. I have to spend hours on the phone, on hold, dealing with issues with my bill, with my service, etc... on my days off. We have had nothing but issues with your company & have still remained loyal customers. As of October 5th, our service was disconnected and STILL remains disconnected right now @ 7:30pm after my first call in today was at 12pm this afternoon. A supervisor in your financial department I spoke to from 12-1pm and she promised that she terminated our account at our old address acct # ---------- and BOTH accounts were credited and balanced back to zero, she put in an order to have our internet back on in up to 2 hours, and that id have no further problems. At 5:30 pm I called in AGAIN as my service was not back on, waited on hold for 20 mins to be transferred to technical support & waited to speak to your supervisor there named Justin. I again waited on hold for another 30 minutes for him to tell me no order was ever put in and he couldn't get our service back on until the financial department dealt with our issues first. I was AGAIN transferred to financial and spoke to a rep named Dallas who was rude to me & even mocked me, then I waited yet again to speak to a supervisor named Jose in financial who was BEYOND rude and talked over me, told me I WAS misunderstanding, that "I was clearly mistaken" there are "no issues with my account" and when I asked to speak to someone who could clear up ALL of this confusion and why I was being told so many different things from every different person & he told me "no he wouldn't transfer me to anyone else" and that "if I wanted to speak to someone else I could call back and wait on hold again" then hung up on me! A supervisor! I can't begin to explain how disgusted I am with all of this and with how rude Dallas and your supervisor Jose were to me. I could list 20 different issues that I've had with your company including: starting service in the wrong apartment when I first started service, being told we were only offered "dial up speed internet in our area because that's all they had to offer us, one of your representatives told me to "lie and just say I was moving to an area where you didn't offer us service and cancel with you so then I wouldn't have to pay a termination fee", adding services to our account without our permission, being told that you couldn't find where our service originated from even though I signed up on your website & spoke to "a century link employee, I was still told we "must've gotten service through a 3rd party because sometimes that "just happens"" but no one could tell me who started it or who to contact about the issues, constant billing issues, being overcharged, not being able to access my online account because I was told the only TWO email addresses I have were "unable to be found" so I couldn't pay online, then I call in to PAY YOU and I'm told I will need to pay a processing fee to give you my money when I CANT access my account to pay because of your technical issues, and have online chats even to prove some of them. I would like someone who can clear ALL of this up for me and do something to make me a HAPPY customer, not an angry, frustrated, pissed off one. I'd like a call back as soon as possible please and thank you. *worst service I've ever had BY FAR* read more

We had a horrible customer service experience I had with your company today. Our family picked today as a day to upgrade our internet speed, but our internet went out several hours before someone showed up to increase our speed. After someone showed up, they said we should be good to go but they didn't have the right modem to give us, so we should call the customer service line to get the right modem. After I found out our internet was still out after they left, I went and called the customer service to report our internet was still out and we needed a different modem because they were out of modems. I was on the phone for over two hours with two different departments, and they told me that the internet may not come back for two days (no reason given), and that they could not promise the modem that was promised by the technician. I asked to speak to a manager, but I was told they were busy, and now, two hours later, they still haven't called back. Horribly disappointing, and there is a very good chance you have lost this customer. read more

I have had centrylink for years, other than the billing dept being a issue it has been good . Now after I switched to a better rate they shut me off. Instead of switching the service. Don't Get CenturyLink. While I had, i will say I loved it. But then when your contract is up it's practically 200 dollars. If you can afford that, stay with them. I know I can't. We're getting internet from another company and getting live TV. Which is about 70 bucks cheaper. So our total is about 120. And no boxes except for the internet. Also, if you pay and disconnect before your contract is up with CenturyLink, don't plan on getting a reimbursement for what wasn't used. The only state that gets that is Arizona, which is where their corporate office is. So if you don't care about what your owed then go with CenturyLink. I loved the Prisim but ATT bought that part and I don't like ATT (which is a whole other story). Customer service is ok but sometimes hard to understand who your talking to. They have very strong accents. I would of stayed if I could have had for the same price I'm paying now and didn't have to worry about contracts. Which now I don't. Good luck with whatever you decide but I would say stay away from CenturyLink. read more

Totally lied to. Technician and Cancellation department said the phone sales teams need more training and just do what is needed to make the sale. I was told I could have Prism on a completely separate line of service from my internet. I did not want to lose any bandwidth on my internet for TV. Salesperson said no problem I set these up all the time. He lied and this is not possible or so says the technician, support and customer service. Then found out the price he told me was off by $50 per month. I verified with salesperson three time about the separate line and separate modem. He said yes all three times. I verified the price and he said yes. Lies Lies Lies....Don't trust sales. read more

I had internet and phone service with them for a while, I canceled the phone service after I realized that they were charging me far more than they quoted. I kept the Internet service but they kept billing me for both. I tried to get this corrected on more than one occasion. If I ran my business like they run their business I would be out of business. I suggest that you look at any other carrier other than Century Link for your phone and Internet service. read more

Hate even giving them one star. I've had so many issues I have lost track. The latest one was the last straw. My Internet had been out for 3 days so I call and of course am on hold forever only to speak to someone who is clueless saying she was "sending a signal" to my house to fix my internet. It didn't work (shocking!) so I called back for someone else to tell me the modem is shot so they will mail me one in the next 5-7 days but I'll have to pay for the shipping...um no. So the rep told me I could bring my current modem to their store which is on the opposite side of town and she guaranteed me there would be a modem for me. Nope. The guy said they don't carry prism ones. So now I'm still without internet and have to wait two more days for a technician to come out and see if they can fix it. I do not recommend them to anyone! read more

I have had nothing but issues with Century Link. Right now my internet won't work and I'm getting the run around. All I want is a repair man to come out and fix it and noone will send one. I had CL's internet service installed on 9-29-16. I ended up cancelling the service on 10-10-16 because the speed (12 Mbps max in my area) was not enough for what I needed. I shipped back the modem. Now they sent be a bill for $68.86. This is really high considering the monthly internet fee was advertised at 35.95, and I've only had their service for 1 week. I called in and got transferred 2 times, and chatted with a rep (Michael P). and no one was able to help me. Very disappointed with the service that CL is providing. I called back the next day and got scheduled for April 3rd. I checked with 3 different people to make sure my number on file was correct since the last technician said I never answered my phone, it was incorrect everytime. Once again my technician drove right past my house never stopped and left a note saying he didn't have access to the premises and that I never answered my phone. I call in right away to report this and after 40 minutes on the phone they tell me I have to wait another 10 days for another technician to come out. I've explained I have a child who needs to homeschool but no one cares. They even tried to get a manager to override this request and have the provider come back out but they denied that request. Most horrible experience EVER! My sister has service at one address already and we were trying to set up service on same account at another address. They told us our modem should arrive 3-5 business days. Took 8 days to arrive. They said when the modem arrives we can install it and use internet right away. When it arrived I installed it following the instructions mailed with it, Internet would not work. After 5 phone calls and 4 hours on the phone i was informed that a technician had previously stopped by to set up outside of the house and that there were 2 dogs in the yard so he left. Firstly we were never told that we would need a tech to come set up the service other wise we would have just had them bring and install for us rather than have the modem mailed. Secondly shouldn't we have been notified that he had stopped by instead of him just leaving without us being informed? After speaking with a couple more reps and another 2 hours on the phone i was told the soonest they could send another tech would be 8 days from that call. Few days later called just to make sure this was still in process and was told there was never an appointment scheduled. At this point i am very irritated and annoyed because i have had over 6 hours of my time wasted. They then said it would be another 8 days before they can send somebody out. This was THE worst experience i have had with customer services over the phone. read more

These people said I would get my services (Internet and phone) set up Friday. Then they called and said they're sorry, on Friday I might add, and that the service was pretty much a prototype, and that I would get service tuesday. Well its Tuesday, nobody has shown up or called saying when they will be here and I tried calling and these stupid support "professionals" didn't know how to open my account. So I sat there for an hour talking to one person who didn't know how to open my account and then he sent me to technical support and she didn't know anything! She had me on hold and kept trying to talk over me saying she can't open my account because she doesn't know how to. Then she tried sending me back over to the people I was talking to before and I wasn't about to do that again. So I hung up. After an hour and a half nothing was accomplished or resolved. I also told them that children played there and leaving a gaping hole there without doing something to fill it was dangerous. The insurance company they referred me to for damages suggested we call the sheriff. Unbelievable! As I read all the reviews here, I am so glad I did not switch to them. Would have chosen zero stars if possible. After being with this company for decades, I began getting bills that had differing monthly costs. I would call every month and get different answers as to why my charges changed but they would usually find a discount since I was a long-time customer. A couple of months ago, my bill went up $80.00. I called customer service and was basically told take it leave it. So I left it and signed up for Cox service for phone, internet and cable. Received a bill from Century Link for new phone service! I called and was rudely told to disregard. So I waited for a new bill which was still too high based on my cancellation date. I called customer service again and spoke to a very rude girl who again told me to just pay the bill. If you saw this bill, you'd realize that its total nonsense - charges made and then, maybe, credited on another page. No way these people took the time to figure out the charges. They can't be figured out! I know a lot of people are critical of Cox but I'm sick of trying to deal with Century Link. read more
