I called Centurylink to ask if they were able to mark the underground internet cables in my backyard. The person at the call center said she didn't know if they provided that service but she would have a technician call me back to answer my question. A technician called later that day and said that they do not mark lines but told me who I should call to have it done. A few weeks later I received a bill for $99 for the "repair service" I requested. I called Centurylink again to let them know I didn't request any service and only asked for an answer to my question. They said that they had no details about the charge but that their charge was valid. They said there is nothing I can do about it and no one I can talk to. They charged me $99 for a return phone call, without any notification that I could be charge for asking the question, they say it was for a repair but they have no information for what type of repair or what was done. This is a scam. read more

The consistently worst customer service that I have ever received in 40 years of life. Phone representatives do not speak comprehensible English and I've had over 3 scheduled in-home tech appointments with them in just the last year (that I missed work for) that have been blatantly forgotten/missed and do not even get a phone call. You might think I'm embellishing... it's scary to say that I'm not. read more

Worst customer service I've ever had. We were without a phone and internet for 3 weeks and got the run around with texts and chats - you can't talk to actual person until you go to cancel. I'd use a string and two cans before I would go back to CenturyLink. If o could give no stars I would. read more

I've lived in every part of the country and CenturyLink is the worst internet/cable provider I've dealt with. Unfortunately it's my only option in my building. Everything from customer service, billing and options are awful. I hope I never have to use their services again read more

We had Century Link internet for about 4 years and for 14 days we were without internet due to an outage. Century Link said it was due to a broken part and waiting on a part to come in that created an outage for our whole neighborhood. I don't know about you, but they should of overnighted that part. We changed to Cox and saved and gained a higher speed internet. read more

If I could give ZERO stars, I would. Centurylink has the absolute worst customer service imaginable. Even if you manage to talk to a living person they have no idea what you are talking about. It took months to get someone to come out and relocate an internet line so we could have an egress window installed. We had to reschedule the window twice because no one could get through to Centurylink. Today they came out to bury the cable, once they were finished we had no service. The gentlemen that buried the line said a tech would be here in 30 mins to an hour. That was 5 hours ago. I work from home and need the internet. My husband and I have both called and chatted online more than twice. No two stories are the same and there is no record of anyone working on anything here or requesting anything. I am so completely fed up and frustrated, and there is nothing I can do. We just keep going in circles. read more

I'm new to my area and scheduled installation for today between 9am to 5pm. I waited at home all day and never saw or heard from anyone. I tried the live chat and was told they're having technical issues and was given a number to call. When I tried the number they literally answered as follows " Thank you for calling CenturyLink. We are currently having technical issues and can't help you. Please call back tomorrow." I responded by aski.g if they can just help me locate my tech and he literally said "No, please call tomorrow." And hung up on me. I then tried to live chat again and got the same response. I told them I'd like to know when someone will be here or i want a refund and I'll go elsewhere. I was literally told they could do nothing. I'm normally a calm person but if this is how you treat your customers then I'll absolutely take my business elsewhere. read more

CONSUMER BEWARE! CenturyLink has NO regard for actual customer service or even their own reputation as a business. When Cox tried to increase my bill last Fall, I shopped around and chose to give CenturyLink a try. I arranged at least TWO times to have a technician come out for the installation and to have the modem delivered. The technician NEVER SHOWED UP! I called Cox back and they were finally willing to work with me on the bill so I chose to keep them and called CenturyLink back to cancel their installation. Since day one, they told me to keep Cox until my CenturyLink services were formally set up. An agent with CenturyLink apologized for the confusion with the technician and said he would be sure to take care of the bill since I never received any services from CenturyLink. A couple months later, I get a bill saying that if I don't pay a $171.20 final bill then I'll be sent to collections. After spending an hour on the phone dealing with 4 transfers, 2 disconnected calls and being told I would get a call back (which never happened), they explained the bill would be waived and that I would not be sent to collections. Here's the cherry on the crap-cake - when I asked for something in writing stating that I owe NOTHING to CenturyLink and that I would NOT be sent to collections, they refused. I spoke to a manager by the name of Wanita (#AA79830) who said I'd have to speak to their executive management team about this. It should NEVER be too much to ask ANY company to take 10 minutes out of their day to draft a letter on company letterhead to correct an issue. I promptly explained that I would let every person I come across know what poor service they provide and post any review I can about my extremely unsatisfactory service. She did nothing to further rectify the situation but give me a link where I can leave my poor review. Again, ALL I asked for was written confirmation of my account being closed, a $0 balance being due and that I would NOT be sent to collections. ESPECIALLY since I was already told this over the phone last fall only to get a collection notice in the mail after the fact. If you value your time or want any assemblance of proper customer service, do NOT do business with CenturyLink. read more

This company is a joke. It feels like an elaborate prank trying to do anything with CenturyLink. Need a technician? You call the number on the website, get redirected to an automated menu, stay on that for about 30 minutes, and then get told to download the app. Downloaded the app? Jokes on you! You get an automated chat option.....which gives you a number.....which when you call......tells you to download the app which is essentially useless. This company seems to be run by 2 children stacked on each other's shoulders and wearing a trench coat to appear adult. read more

Avoid!! I tried to cancel service the same day the modem came in the mail due to them sending a technician twice to ensure the internet service would work. After the 2nd tech tested the phone jack and ensured it would work, he left and the modem arrived in the mail. I had been without wifi for a week due to a move. I could not have been more excited to finally have Netflix again. The over joyous excitement was surpassed by the letdown of the blinking dsl light. Yay, my first call to customer service. After being on hold for approx. 23 minutes I was told a tech would need to come out but could not come out until the next Tuesday(currently Wednesday) oh and the best part was I would have to pay 59.99 for a tech fee. If the tech needed to enter my house it would be an additional 89.99. WTAF CenturyLink. Still no wifi or service at this point. Fed up and slightly inebriated, I packed up the modem and put it in the mail drop box. The next morning I called to cancel my service due to not having service the day of the installation only to be told that since I plugged everything in, I would need to pay a 200.00 early termination fee. GTFO CenturyLink! After being transferred and put on hold for almost an hour. I spoke with the supervisor. He stated that due to me clicking "accept terms and conditions" when I applied for service online, I was held liable for at least one year of service. The absolute WORST internet experience I've ever had and I've had internet service in 5 different countries. read more

Our internet has been down over 60 hours now...we were first told (via chat, as it was a weekend, "after hours"), that it was down in our area & a priority, a team was working on the problem. Our underground internet line was cut. It took over 4 days to get someone to look at it. There is no urgency for repair. I called them many times. The repair appointment kept getting postponed. Then one customer service agent sent me to discuss with their retention department. After 30 minutes waiting I find out they were closed on Saturday. Every employee I've encountered in this process was not helpful and had inaccurate information. DO NOT GET CL! read more

Horrible. Had to wait 3 days from my initial service date for a tech to come out because the internet wouldn't work. Worked for 2 days. Then went out constantly. You call and call and call, each time they have you try unplugging something else or refreshing my line or connecting to a 5G network. Every single time it works for 5 min. then poof no internet. Finally they say they have to send a tech out again. But not for 2 days at the earliest. My livelihood is online like everyone else. Used up all my hotspot data while waiting for the initial service so now I'm just out of luck. Worst experience ever. read more

My latest bill shows an addition of a phone number I don't have for phone and internet. There is also a credit, but a lingering charge they are sticking me with for something I never ordered. Plus the fact my bill has creeped up to almost $250/month. Calling them to discuss it is extremely aggravating. It is very hard to get past the incredibly annoying auto attendant and then you find out there's a wait of 30 to 60 minutes and they strongly urge you to sign up for a call back. Half the time I agree to a call back, no one calls back, so I'm in the middle of a 45 minute hold while waiting. Turns out the charge is yet another rate increase. If I want a locked in price that is even more money per month., about $30 more for a not real significant increase in service. No offers or additional discounts on my existing Prism service. Going to call Cox Cable to see what's available since obviously Centurylink is doing so well they don't need my business. read more

I've had several internet providers over the years and CenturyLink is by far the worst company I've ever dealt with. Wait times to speak with customer support regarding outages are horrendous - today 3 hours to reach a supervisor who disconnected the line when I asked to speak to someone above her. I've had three service outages in less than 14 days and the window for a field technician to respond is usually 5-7 days, sometimes longer. The worst part is that I work from home so internet is essential. read more

Let me start by saying I made a Yelp account just to give this company a 1 star. Like some others have said, if I could give this company a 0 star I would. When it comes to the customer service it is by far the WORST experience I have ever had. Each person you talk to will tell you something different. I have been told 3 lies in 30 hours and they have the audacity to tell me I was "misinformed". No century link I was not misinformed, I was lied to on 3 occasions and it's your fault these employees aren't trained properly. I feel bad for the employees since they probably have to deal with 100s of disgruntled customers a day based off the fact they are not trained properly. If you are reading this because you are debating about this provider, I could not stress enough to look elsewhere. If you have ANY issues with your service through Century Link, you are FUCKED. There is no other way to put it. read more

Gosh. Do I have to give a star? We had our service cut to the house and I called customer service to have a technician come out and repair it. Two hours, five people, and three countries later, I canceled the service. Each department saw something different, with half of them showing it was operational. There was no way in hell they were sending a single person out to check the system. Ridiculous. They burned their bridges here in Omaha, as every single person I know who originally signed up, went back to other providers. read more

Worst customer service I've encountered from a company. Called 8 times to transfer services because I moved and no one could help me over a two week period. They told me it would be 4 days, then 3 more days, then it ended up being over 2 weeks so I cancelled. Ridiculous. read more

We signed up for high speed internet. We had Cox but had constant buffering issues. We switched to Ventury link and haven't had nearly any buffering issues and it has been clearer. I would give Century Link zero stars if given the chance. Not impressed with the services we pay an arm and a leg for each month. Ironically, customer service does not provide any helpful service. We started to be charged $10 more per month without being notified. When talking to customer service about finding a more budget-friendly plan, our modem "broke" within a week. The only solution to this problem was to upgrade to the previous plan. During the tech visit, the tech person had no reason as to why our modem broke. I have tried to contact a person on the phone about this all day and every single phone number I was given was no longer in service. In order to find some sort of solution, I gave in and talked to the chat customer service online. I was transferred from one person to another, with absolutely zero help. I'm taking my business elsewhere and will not give up until I am refunded my money for such poor service. read more

I don't do much with my internet and I don't expect a lot out of it. I surf the web, use social media and stream movies and shows. It doesn't require much speed so I decide to go with CenturyLink because the price for what I want for internet services is there. However, if you EVER have any issues. Good luck actually reaching someone who wants to actually help or is trying to understand what you are saying. Recently had a severe storm in the area where lots of power lines/poles were wiped out. After power came back on, I didn't have internet. I tried to report the outage and they blamed my router. After having 4 different chats with support (because good luck getting anyone on the phone with you since their line consistently reverts you to chat online), each one of them wanted me to mess with the router inside my home as if that was the answer. I did comply the first two times, even though, the only change was the issues outside the home due to the storm. First chat, the representative just stopped communicating. Second chat, they attempted to set up a technician but before we could confirm, my connection with the chat was "lost" (no call back even though every time you repeat all information INCLUDING a call back number). Third and fourth time I used the chat, I tried to let them know I already went through in home troubleshooting, the issue isn't in my home, there was a storm. Third one just stopped responding again. Fourth set up a technician for 6 days later. Next day, I see that my neighbor behind me threw his disconnected (from the storm) phone line into my yard. The power line run between our yards and there is a phone line running to his and then on the other side to my house from these major lines. So I called to report the downed line (not my phone line) they told me 24-48 and someone will come out to repair. Well the next day someone did come out. However! While they removed the downed line, they also cut off from my house MY PHONE LINE (as I have dsl internet, probably shouldn't have done that) which was clearly still attached. He walked up to my home, cut the cord, and removed both lines from the main lines.. then he left.. did not talk to me about removing my phone line or let me know there would be some repair to what he removed. I attempted for 3 hours to get someone to have answers for me but I was ignored and pushed off, as well as told there was no way to contact or track down the service person, from their company, on why he removed my phone line. Just kept asking me if I wanted to add phone service so they could send someone out to check if they potentially could even install a new line. What? I'm baffled. I asked for a manager or someone who could figure out what the tech was thinking who cut down my line, but they told me the best they could do is send my number for a call back. 2 hours later I am still waiting, I won't hold my breath. The absolute worst customer service I could ever imagine. They won't listen to your concerns and you'll never get answers any less than spending 5plus hours of your life attempting to get someone to listen to you and waiting a week for them to send a tech out. read more

I don't even want to give 1 star!! Most horrible customer service I have ever dealt with! We were doing some yard work at our new home and the cable was buried less than an inch down and was accidentally cut. My husband called and waited on hold for over 2 HOURS to talk to someone. I called them an additional 3 times, was put on hold for 30 min to talk to a manager. After talking to at least 12 different people there was no resolution. How hard is it to just send a tech out to bury a new cable??? The one lady I talked to kept saying let me check your modem. I wish I could post zero stars. Paid for new internet 10 days ago, have talked to 5 reps all saying something different about why my internet is not working. They will change their stories after I ask a question to clarify and then when I confront them I get transferred to another department. Every department has a different story! Here's to name a few: 1. "Your internet won't be ready until Nov 3rd. I don't know why." 2. "Your internet has been active since Oct 25th, looks like you aren't plugging the modem in to the wall all the way. You must have the wrong modem." 3. "I don't have a tech available for 4 days. You will have to wait." 4. "Maybe your phone jacks are messed up. The internet is in your place but I don't know where it's coming from." They didn't even offer to send a free tech to my place to help, I had to suggest it and make my case. After being on various phone calls for 4 hours and waiting an ADDITIONAL 5 hours, we get stood up because the tech says he locked himself out of his office! When we call headquarters, they say the work order for the tech wasn't even in the system and they don't know who called us. Today was a treat when the rep told me, "Your internet is active, there's nothing else I can do. You can try and wait 5 days for a tech, but that's all I can offer you." We have had CenturyLink for 4 months. We enrolled in autopay which never drafted. We didn't receive a bill until the 4 month mark, not a single notice email or physical mail. They charged us double the amount in fees. I spent 13+ hours on the phone just on hold not including the time spent online chatting or on the phone with a representative. Horrible customer service, the service was always going down, the installation was a 2 day endeavor, and they added in a home phone line on our bill without letting us know the number or activating it so the phone we plugged in could dial out or receive calls. Here is what I sent to Century Link but I know it won't make a difference: I had the most frustrating experience with your company today. I had plans of doing something today that were destroyed because I was waiting on one of your technicians in the Nebraska area named Randall (not sure of the spelling). After staying up until 3AM trying to troubleshoot the internet outage on my modem I woke up and called Century Link for assistance early and was told that a technician needed to come out and they would be here by 11AM. I was asked if I heard the instructions of how it would work if a technician had to enter my home due to COVID-19. In the instructions it stated that the technician would call to give me whatever I needed to fix the problem but I never received a call. When I called again they said the technician closed the ticket citing "no access". They also told me that he would come out between 1PM and 10PM and then later in the conversation changed it from 1PM to 7PM. It was about 5:45PM and another tech support rep told me that the technician estimated his arrival to be 6:15PM the technician did not show up. Then I called again at 7:15PM and this person explained that I should not have been on a ticket for the same day which seemed odd to me since he closed a ticket for me already today. The last call I made the rep said he would contact the technician to see what time he would be available and when he came back to the call he said that no technician would be available today and he would schedule me for tomorrow or Saturday but I felt like since I waited all day today and I have to work Monday thru Friday Saturday was too long of a wait. I'm very frustrated and angry. I have been a loyal customer for years with Century Link and I did not appreciate being treated like this. I hope that you treat your customers better than this in the future. read more

Literally the worst service ever. None of my devices ever work, even after resetting and resetting and resetting. Do not use century link.

I can't speak about the internet service itself, since i never got it. My modem came in and didn't work. When I called them to try to get help, I was transferred at least 5 times, each time with wait times that were over 5 minutes, and most of the people I talked to spoke with either snarky attitudes and accents that were hard to understand. The person before does not tell the person you are transferred to anything, so you have to tell them the same thing every time, and to the very last step where I just wanted to get a refund on my prepayment, he asked me if I had 'unplugged the power source and plugged it back in'. Cox has a stupid monopoly on the internet service in the omaha downtown area, charging $75 flat one time fee and more per month for their service, also forcing a contract, while centurylink has none of that, but it is because even with all of that, cox knows that people will still go to them instead of CL, because at least they have some type of customer service. I don't like either company, and I am leaving the omaha area in half a year, so I decided I am just not going to go with internet. If I had visited the reviews before trying with CL, I might have avoided wasting hours of time and headache. read more

Centurylink has two kinds of employees, sales and collections. Sales are super nice, you'll get straight through and they will promise you the world. Thank god I found out about how rude, unhelpful, and busy their billing department was before signing up. I had talked with sales and we had scheduled to have a tech come out. B/c of schedule conflicts I had to cancel the appointment. The sales rep assured me they would keep my account open until I was ready to set something up but until I connected service, I would not be billed. The next time I heard from centurylink was when they sent me a collections notice. I called up billing, had to wait on hold, got ahold of a billing rep that immediately started condescending to me. I told him his customer retention skills needed work, me calling them was a favor to help them with their clerical, he could have fun pursuing the charges without an SSN on the account and if he was going to continue to be rude to me, he could either get me to a supervisor or I would let them figure out this mess on their own without my help while I spent my time more wisely review bombing them. I'll let you guess how that turned out. This one star is for you Travis! read more
