Century Link in Kissimmee FL is the absolute worst. My elderly sister lives alone and has medical issues that are urgent. She has been out of service for the past 20 days. I have called almost every day and made appointments. No one shows up in spite of faithfully promising to do so. The state or PUC should look into this company to see how much suffering they are inflicting on customers. They should not be allowed to do business in FL. I understand their service is horrible across the country not just FL. If I could I will give them no stars rating. read more

This company is absolutely heartless. My dad is 100 years old, lives alone and depends on his landline phone for groceries and in case of emergency. His service went out and I was told no technician could come for FIVE days. Then the day before the tech visit I received an email that the visit is postponed another SEVEN days. It is unbelievable. I pleaded with service representatives and supervisors (who all seem to have the same offshore script) to please expedite or move us up when a cancellation occurs. Instead they moved us back. Worst company support. Even their chat agent lost connectivity in the chat then the chat ends but for once it was not me losing connection. Tell me how does something hardwired constantly lose connection and is worse than 56k was 20 years ago ? It doesnt unless its garbage equipment ment or the isp has a issue. So for years its nothing but garbage. And you ask them questions and they are clueless or try to give you a run around game of lets try this lets try that. Moved and transferred this service. After doing so, was promised a Modem in a few days. Received nothing. Called and was told once again I'd receive one in a few days. Nothing. This repeats about 2-3 more times and NOTHING. An entire month of absolutely NOTHING. Completely unacceptable and ridiculous!!!! They are only good at giving you false hope and empty promises. Centurylink is an absolutely awful company. If you have any other options at all you would be better off going with them. I have been forced to use Centurylink for telephone and internet (DSL) for five years now and they keep getting worse and worse. At this point our dsl is so slow as to be unusable (less than 1MB/s). Their "customer service" is a sad bad joke. They appear to be in another country ( the rumor is, the Phillipine), but wherever they are, they're terrible. Long waits on the phone for no answers. DON'T use Centurylink for internet! The night time download speed is around 0.14 mbps! I've called and called and called and was finally told that they need to upgrade a switch but refuse to because it isn't cost effective for the company. Last Friday I was happy to order an internet only service with centurylink. Basically they told me I will get 25 mbps fiber with 45 $ per month! How good that will be. I was with comcast for 10 year(monopoli in my area) with 100 Mbps cable with 90$. The actual speed is 30 Mbps. Fiber is almost twice as the cable speed!! So I will get around 50 mspsSo I am looking forward to have the new service!! Today tech came and told me there is no fiber in the Neighbour hood. "But why they told me I have. I told them my home address everything....they checked...". "The sales don't know anything. they may in other state..." the tech said that.... I kind of hoped he is not right, since fiber and dsl come from the phone jet.... then I tested the speed it is 10 Mbps download and 1 Mbps!! Upload!! I am speechless. After I decided to keep my Comcast service, I called to cancel the order, which took more than 25 mins now and not down... at beginning I am a little angry to know I get that terrible service!! Right now I guess they should swallow all their bad service and bad reputation as liar.....the cancellation is finally done after 30 minutes. And it is interesting, last Friday the guy helped to register as new costumer asked at least 5 times of my phone number and can't remember what I just told him. CenturyLink has the worst possible Customer Service. If you attempt to call them, you will generally get one hang and one hard to understand rep. If you try a chat you may get a "virtual" assistant. If you do get a person on Chat they cannot help you. I had a billing question because I received an email saying I had paid my bill by credit card and they added a $3.50 convenience fee. Meanwhile I actually paid my bill as I usually do with a checking account transfer. Couldn't get any help. read more

if i could give this company 0 stars i absolutely would. not only was the internet service horrible from the beginning, but the company kept lowering and lowering our download speed until it was hardly 3 megabits/s. (normal is above 50.) They did this without our knowledge and continued to bill us the same amount of money monthly, even though the internet was essentially useless. nobody was helpful in addressing this issue and in fact some were quite rude. when we called to cancel this useless service, not only did century link NOT refund/ make up for the horrible internet THEY downgraded us to, but they insisted that we PAY UNTIL THE END OF THE MONTH of the cancellation. this really felt like a slap in the face and was frankly obnoxious. after calling multiple times, Century Link continued to bill us monthly & DIDNT CANCEL, since we wouldn't pay the fee for the final cancellation month. Finally, cancellation was demanded and century link "gracefully" agreed to refund the EXTRA MONTHS THEY HAD CHARGED US FOR, but CONTINUED TO INSIST WE PAY THE NEGLIGIBLE FEE ($29) FOR THE FINAL MONTH. The fee was so insignificant that their insistance on paying it even after all the absurd back and forth was absolutely infuriating and completely out of spite. what an immature, poorly handled company. i would caution everyone to AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS, and be aware that you will get the absolute bare minimum amount of help, assistance, and service, and you will get no compromise or fair compensation when the company is in the wrong. First of all, I definitely AM a paid shill for Century-Link so let's get THAT out of the way. ;-) I moved out here to the NW NJ sticks [Warren County] about 7 years ago [from the city] and had to sign off to Comcast after many years of decent service. Never had DSL before and I DIDN'T want it. The only alternative here, 'Service Electric' cable, hadn't run their line to our property [about 500'] and they wanted a real hefty installation charge to do so. Nope.... neeeext? I was worried about C-L [Embarq] here because the only option available was DSL. Here I am today with a solid 24mbps up / 1.8mbps down and it's still hard to believe it's coming through on old copper lines. I did have some issues earlier with the earlier 10mbps service in that the connection was lost during heavy rain. The techs were trying to tell me the problem was my wiring inside my house..... Suuuuure...It rains a lot inside my house, lol... I got a kick out of that.....but that issue has completely disappeared with the new modem installed [with the higher speed] about a year ago. Happy camper here. And C-L's down-home southern belle CSR's are a hoot to chat with, too. :) read more

I work for a world wide company that has 100,000+ work at home employees and I can't even get a technician to the home I want to potentially purchase to check the line to verify I can't get service!! I have wasted 12 hours on the phone in 2 weeks to have my request cancelled 3 times and no tech dispatched. I have been transferred 25 times to different people and departments to get no where in the process. I have never been so upset as I am with this Business. If I could give a negative number it would be -100 they should be shut down for the type of company that is being run or the VP fired and someone with a head on their shoulders be hired and hope they promote customer service! read more

Do not fall for the Century Link bundle. Their internet service is less than 5.0 m, but you pay for 10.0 m. They lie about the price and then when you call to complain that the bundle is $50 more than they quoted, they send you to different people, none of whom can fix the overcharge, and then they transfer you to DirectTV to decrease your services, in order to cut your bill. So, you get a quote on a service, then you have to cut your services just to keep it at $50 over the quoted price. Total rip off! read more

I have made repeated calls (5) up to this point to their customer service department and they can't figure out why I have download speed of dial up. I was on the phone with their customer service department for 57 minutes. Now they need to come out and check the line. To their credit, they are going to credit my net service for 7 days. read more

The WORST company I have EVER dealt with and I'm not young!!! If it wasn't the only game in the area, I wouldn't. We live in NJ part time, so when we go to CA, we put our services, (DSL Internet & one phone with caller ID, National LD and VM) on Vacation Mode. This costs about $12 to turn off and about $12 to turn back on, but brings our typical $80 bill down to $26/mo. BUT, they can't seem to get anything right!! Upon returning, the phone MAY have all its features and may NOT. Internet may take a few calls and may get crawling speed after many false "no problem, did we answer all your needs?" endings, not to mention an online questionnaire. They even sent a lineman out to find the problem until we called another time and he found the problem on their computer, (missed by 2 other agents.) Then there's putting it back on Vacation mode. Received online "bill available to be viewed" email... $101. Call C.S. who found the error and corrected it to $22. Asked to talk to the supervisor who stated 'the agents aren't always properly trained'. Following week, went online to check bill, (BTW, I have it on auto debit), and bill was now $105. Called C.S. again, (asked for next level supervisor), who told me the bill could not be credited, so credits would be issued on the next few bills to compensate. I had them remove me from Auto Debit. I will now only pay what I should, when I should. I have been doing this routine since 2006 about 4 times a year. WTF!! AND I DON"T EVEN HAVE TV!! The "10meg" internet speed cant even stream my NETFLIX without stopping every few minutes and my MAC is only 15 feet from the Apple Airport! The previous reviewer was too generous with his review. By far, this is ABSOLUTELY the Worst company ever. I spent 35 years in the telecom industry in various capacities, from trunking and routing to system analysis and in course development. I feel I have the background to comment here. I had no choice as to who would provide my land line service when I moved to this area of NJ. Without doubt I have never had to work with such an unprofessional and inept group of employees. Whether it was dealing with sales, installation or repair, every aspect of my order was fouled up. The sales person lied to me about the cost and was unable to port my existing number. Nor could they provide a distinctive ring to my second line which I requested. The installers did not know how to wire my home. Eventually I had to finish wiring my house to the NID . (Network Interface Device). Neither their service dept. their technical support group nor management understood that a jack with a filter could be provided to separate their painfully slow DSL from the voice circuit. I eventually had to go to Radio Shack to get my own filters. When calling people in my old neighborhood I can wait up to a minute for the calls to drop or to get reorder, which means they have no trunks available to complete the calls. Often, the only way I can call this area is by using my cell phone. I could go on, but be warned. If at all possible, use their services at your own peril. read more
