Central Deli has been making me SAD recently. Take a look at this New York Sandwich I ordered. Weak and not ideal. Also online it says the sandwich costs $8.95 while I paid over $11. You know what else I could have gotten for $11? Two $5 Cravings deals at Taco Bell. Feel bad because the workers are very kind but their prices have risen and quality of food gone down. We've been loyal customers for years, driving from our home in Fair Oaks twice a week. Some of the help there isn't the nicest, especially the tall, bald guy who is always rude and arrogant. This past week, the shorter spanish lady took my order. I said, please make sure there is enough cream cheese on the two bagels. I always place the same order and it comes to $13.41, every single time. She goes to ring me up and she says it's $16.16, I said what? She said I asked for extra cream cheese, that's not what I said. So, they have just lost our business. It's the principle of it and like anyone else, no one wants to be "nickled and dimed". I never have a problem with anyone else there, but will not pay to be abused. It's a shame, because they do have great food, but will not tolerate bad behavior. read more

Everyone has a favorite Deli, this one is mine. Doesnt matter if is a 15 min drive. Well worth it. Shrimp Salad & the House made roast beef keeps me coming back. Breakfast from this place is awesome but I've gotten sandwiches from them and my usual is turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, provolone, oil and vinegar on a hero telegram bacon is usually decent but this time I could tell it was not fresh and was probably sitting since breakfast. Their subs are a bit expensive for what you get. My usual place in Middletown makes their bacon fresh to order and are almost double the size of central's and other deli's sandwiches. I'm going to be making the drive to Middletown instead especially to get a bigger, cheaper, and fresher sandwich. read more

The reason why I'm giving it three stars ain't because of the food. They make really good food, however their prices are insane. I spent 30 dollars on 4 breakfast sandwiches and 2 chocolate milks. That mean the sandwiches would of had to cost over 6 dollars each and the drinks cost over 3 dollars each. That's ridiculous. I won't buy from there again because that's price gouging. You can't tell me it costs that much to make a breakfast sandwiches. They are taking advantage of the pandemic that's going on right now and it's not fair to the customers'. They charged me 60 dollars for three incorrectly made salads when I called and told them they admitted the prices were incorrect and that they would credit me for the salads as a store credit. I thought that was fair and agreed. When I came time to use that store credit the owner decided that I was only entitled to 3 salads in exchange for my money. An average salad here from their own employees words ranges from 8-10 dollars. 5 salads is what would have been fair. The owner not only over charged me and gave me incorrect salads but then didn't make good on the store credit. Honestly I have been coming here for years and I normally boast about the quality of their salad. After this experience all I can say is that they on obviously think that they can afford to lose good paying customers. read more

Four stars is right on target for Central Deli. The sandwiches are good -- both for breakfast and lunch. The service is friendly and generally pretty quick, even when it's mobbed. They always have employees at the ready. I used to come in every two weeks for a (baker's) dozen bagels. It used to be an amazing deal at $8.99. Without notice, the price increased to $10.99 (still relatively fair). The bagels are very high quality. Over the months and years, they have definitely started to diminish in size. I now drive the extra 5-6 minutes and go to Bagel Girls instead (15 larger bagels for the same price). Also to note: The last time I came in a few months ago to pick up several sandwiches, the total was higher than stated over the phone. I then noticed that they introduced a fee for paying with a credit card. As far as I could see, it was not posted anywhere in the deli that this fee would be applied. That disingenuous business practice rubbed me the wrong way and I haven't returned since. read more
