I've passed by this deli for years and finally decided to give it a try. Being in the mood for something hot I ordered The Bandito which is grilled chicken, pepper Jack cheese, jalapeños, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle mayonnaise. It was decent but nothing really special. So why four stars. Because their Deli Sandwiches made with Boars Head Cold Cuts are fantastic. My wife brought home two Roast Beef Hoagies that were packed with delicious Boars Head Roast Beef. The bread was crisp on the outside and soft inside. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh and tasty. The only thing I would recommend is that you ask for salt and pepper in any Boars Head Cold Cuts because Boars Head doesn't add salt to their meats, which is actually a good thing. This is my go to spot for sandwiches to go. They have a couple tables inside too. I asked for their Italian grinder/hogie, brought it on the boat and it was perfect!! Love this deli! Hot sandwiches too. My next request will be their Philly Cheesesteak. I can't wait! read more

This is probably some of the absolute worst service I have ever gotten at an eating establishment. First of all, they are rude. A group of my friends and I went to eat there and when one of my friends thanked the waitress for bringing over our food, she completely ignored her and walked away. However, when I thanked her later she was very polite and said you're welcome to me. The catch? My friend was black and I am white. The other problem is that they charge for condiments. I got a ham and cheese sandwich and my friend got a sandwich with fries. They charged her an extra 50 cents for honey mustard and charged me an extra 50 cents for a tiny cup of vinegar! I thought this was absolutely ridiculous but let it slide and decided to give the restaurant one last try... When I walked into the restaurant yesterday and placed my order, I paid $10.00 for a burger and a water and sat down. They do not issue recipes here (probably do that they can scam people like they tried to scam me!) After eating I went up to the register to give the waitress her tip, and when I turned to leave she demanded that I pay for my burger. I had already paid and I told her this; in fact, she was the one to ring me up in the first place! At this point the manager, cook and waitress were all staring at me accusing me of stealing their food. I insisted that I had paid and left without another word. Luckily they did not follow. The food is mediocre at best and certainly not worth the money or hassle of poor service. The bathroom is tiny and the floors are always dirty. The place is obviously out dated and I wouldn't be surprised if they have bugs in the back (the place was shit down several years ago by the health dept and has since changed names twice) Do not eat here. There are plenty of places you would be better off eating in the area, like The Boathouse, Greshams, of 507 Country Storee. Don't waste your money on this dump. read more

We were passing through Hawley on our way to another destination and stopped for lunch at Deli Central. The lunch was delicious and we went on our way to our destination. I realized after a while that my hearing aid was missing and thought I lost it at hotel. After getting home looked up deli number and took a chance that I lost it there. They had it and owner couldn't have been nicer! She went out of her way to take to post office and put in a mailer to me. She wouldn't even let me reimburse her. Those of you who live near enough to go to Deli Central regularly I say you are lucky cause food is delish and owner wonderful person. read more

Good solid place to stop and get a good deli sandwich. Counter staff and owner are friendly and the food is always consistent. Like anywhere else in NEPA, they are short on staff, so there is a small wait to get served and get your food and no chit-chat between staff and customers. They are too busy to talk. I've always been a big fan of Deli Central! Their sandwiches have always been delicious and I've been able to continue my support after switching to vegetarianism because they offer an amazing veggie panini. It's hard to find a good quality, filling, inexpensive lunch as a vegetarian (unless you want to eat salad for lunch every day), but Deli Central offers a solid option. We have been to Deli Central over 25 times and I have to say it's the best sandwich shop on the big lake. The owners Dawn and Harold are from NY and they know how to make a great sandwich. They only serve Boars Head cold cuts and the portions are very generous. If you are in the area and in the mood for a great sandwich Deli Central is the place to go.
