The Farmer's Kitchen serves breakfast and lunch, has delicious bakery items and is expanding to serve pizza and wings. I tried a western omelette with hash browns, Mom had the quiche of the day with fruit on the side. Rick and brother David both had the waffle with blueberries. Food was good. Omelette had a good mix of the veggies, egg and cheese - not overcooked. Mom said the quiche could have had a little more egg to cream ratio in the filling, but it was tasty. Both Rick and David were expecting fresh blueberries on their waffles instead of a blueberry compote. Still - the waffle itself was fluffy and tasty. The owner offers specials to coincide with events in town, and will take special orders for bakery items. I'm thinking of ordering a meringue pie on one of our future trips to Oelwein. Overall - Farmer's Kitchen is a great addition to Fairbank - stop in and check it out.

I did find it interesting that they carry a 32oz cup which I ended up getting because I love my chai and really needed the caffeine and it cost me $10.41 Non dairy milks served here are almond and oat milk. Five stars isn't enough…read more While visiting Oelwein for family business, I stopped into MA & PA's Diner for lunch. The food was excellent, and the famous square pancakes absolutely lived up to the hype. After I returned home to California, I realized I had accidentally left my clip-on sunglasses at the diner. I expected they were gone forever. Instead, the staff found them, carefully packaged them, and mailed them back to me at their own effort. That level of customer service is incredibly rare today and says everything about the kind of people who run this restaurant. The meal was delicious, the atmosphere felt welcoming, and the hospitality extended well beyond my visit. If you're passing through Oelwein, make this a stop. Come hungry, order the square pancakes, and enjoy a little taste of what "Iowa Nice" really means. Thank you again to everyone at MA & PA's Diner for your kindness and exceptional service. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Iowa.
