It's almost funny, I forgot that I had reached out to these people before, but I got a flyer in the mail and it looked perfect for me. The kind of people they are looking for is exactly who I am, so I called I left all my information that was eight days ago. After for five days I called again left my information again. Never called back. This should be a crime, to give old people false hope. I have a feeling their scam is to demonstrate to the government that they're taking care of all these people who left their information, then the government sends them money like medical money, and then they send out some more flyers in the mail (probably at taxpayer) then get some more old people. Long time ago I had contracts with my county and the state of California, and I quickly understood that there's usually no oversight, the government doesn't check to make sure you're actually doing the service as you claim you're doing. read more

I heard about this position through someone who has a parent that recieves services here. I was really excited to possibly work here as an activity aide, but I never recieved a call back or an email letting me know, I was waitlisted or that I didn't get the job. I tried calling this location twice, only to get fowarded to hr and so many other departments each time. I applied about 3 or 4 months ago, and still now follow up. Itrs not easy to reach anyone. My father has been a member since May 2021 it took him a little time to get adjusted and acclimated to that location but quickly became comfortable after meeting his doctor, therapist they are all on site. Baby Boomers, or anyone related to one, read up, because this is worth knowing about right now: CEI offers phenomenal programs, improving the lives of many seniors immeasurably - for FREE! Their slogan is "Your Life Just Got Better" and I know mine sure did. I am 60 years old, currently in a wheelchair, my mother is 84, and we live in Orinda. Both of us have been participating in CEI programs for about a year and a half. A partial list of services and benefits to us follows, although some of the outings, massage folks, and day center activities have changed during COVID. Healthcare - 24/7, 365, we have an excellent onsite care team and doctor. When referred to other/outside specialists, we see top notch doctors. Vision, dental, physical therapy, occupational therapy, diet/nutrition. Advanced lab or imaging studies aren't shied away from. Medication and equipment - No cost, delivered weekly. Blister packed by day, and by time of day, in one weekly folio. Includes incontinence supplies, wound dressings, etc. Wheelchairs, walkers, and other DME are included if needed. Even hearing aids, dentures, or glasses. Home health support - Help with bathing, bed-making, and changing, meds, meals - that all varies per person. Some light cleaning our laundry. Home safety evaluations, grab bars, toilet risers, bath chairs and the lot are offered. Meals - Tasty, healthy and freshly-prepared meals are served in renovated CEI day centers or delivered to one's home. Day centers - Social activities, computer lab, gym, and alternative healthcare options, e.g. acupuncture or massage are offered in every clean and well-designed CEI facility. It's a little too early to say. But we're off to an uneven start. My parents enrolled recently and their accounts person was fantastic, as was the CEI nurse who visited. Very professional, very informed and very patient. But after those first interactions, it's gone a little downhill. My parents' eligibility was supposed to kick in at the beginning of the month, but we haven't heard anything. I reached out via email and heard nothing. I called today and had a disappointing interaction with the person who answered the phone, and got the voicemail of the person I was trying to touch base with. When I called back and asked if there was anyone else to speak with about our situation (there's a pressing eligibility question that is relevant I'm not sure if we can use IHSS anymore because I'm not sure we're enrolled in CEI) and her basic response was that she didn't know if there was anyone else to talk to because her job was "just for forward calls." I asked if we could determine who my parents' social worker was and she said she couldn't do that either. Finally, after multiple cases of her insisting that the account manager was the only person who she could forward us to, I pleaded, "there is no one else we can talk to, no one...?" and then suddenly the phone went silent and I was abruptly forwarded to someone with no orientation or explanation of who they were. Which was just another voice mail, so it didn't matter. ...And I was done. I hung up. It's regrettable. I suspect that CEI has wonderful services that are in high demand which accounts for the difficulty in contacting them. But the triaging/troubleshooting abilities of the front desk person were pretty unskillful. If it's going to be a production every time we try to figure out how to not be out of compliance with Medicaid (I don't think that people can use CEI and IHSS simultaneously), it probably isn't worth it. So I'll wait around for a day or so and see if anyone responds to my messages, but at this point I can't tell if the accounts person/Nurse is going to be the interaction norm or the front desk person is. I don't know what this says about CEI - it's just a data point. If I have more to add later, I will. read more

They are getting worse and worse everyday. My mother has been struggling with her dental issues since last 2 years, they've changed 3 dentists, and none of them have been able to help her out with her teeth. She's been eating with great difficulty and that has affected her health severely. All her complaints are going to deaf ears. She's totally unhappy with her doctors there who do not understand her health issues and just keep on adding to her list of medicines. And the worst part is their transportation, as many others have noted here. They are the rudest people of all, my mother is picked several hours before her appointment from her home and then she's kept waiting again at the clinic for several hours before being picked up, all this while she's hungry missing out her meals and medicines, and they are least bothered about all this. All they keep doing is lying that the pickup will happen in next 10 minutes, next 15 minutes, and eventually it takes more than 2 hours. On a few occasions the transportation showed up hours after her appointment, and she had to cancel her appointment and reschedule multiple times. I don't understand if we can call this mismanagement or insensitivity or both, but we are sure this is a big mistake from our side to have enrolled our mother with this center. read more

CEI is not a place I would trust my parents or grandparents with. They claim they are so for the seniors but when it is time for an appointment, they are usually late picking them up and make them wait for hours to take them back home. I have heard a lot of seniors complain about transportation which ultimately starts with dispatch. Their dispatchers are rude and have no idea on how to put runs together. I would not want my parents to be on a bus for 2 hours just to get home. I hear this company is non profit but they continue to build new centers and pay their drivers, who are the first and last people the seniors see, pennies. But, here and now needless to say I am disappointed in the lack of communication between Val and CEI regarding my mothers care.
