The staff at Kimochi were friendly and helpful with any questions we had. They offer senior center activities and a great nutritional program to help seniors stay active and healthy. Some activities include tea time, calligraphy, origami making sessions, ceramics, line dancing, etc. You do need to register, and make reservations to participate in the senior activities. They have a beautiful garden area for participants to sit and a koi pond. The medical and dental staff are always available on site. The hospital is one block away, very convenient in case anything major were to happen. They have an exercise room, help with memory exercises, oxygen tanks. It is very clean, janitors are cleaning the restrooms several times a day and are very nice. Everyone was very helpful and very nice to everyone. The living areas look very comfortable and they are very open to personal belongings in the rooms and for the participants to decorate however they like to feel more comfortable. They have arts, crafts, singing, dancing, and entertainers volunteer to come in to play live music and sing to the participants. I love this place and recommend it. Even better is On Lok Lifeways 30th street, but that site seems to cater more for mobile participants who can walk and dance on there feet though I have seen wheel chair participants. Where this site looks like they cater more for wheel chair and cane using participants, though there are a few I saw walking fine on their own.

Unfortunately for one of our loved ones, having dementia was an automatic disqualifier because as you will discover in your research of residential care facilities, the type of license the facility has determines the scope and kinds of services they offer, and therefore, the kind of resident/patient they can accept. I believe Kimochi Home can accept only "ambulatory" residents, my understanding that it means not necessarily you can walk on your own, but in an emergency situation, you have the cognitive ability to follow safety instructions. Still, meeting w the Kimochi Home director was invaluable, because Kimochi genuinely cares about seniors in the community, and she gave us very helpful advice. Plus, she put our loved one on a waiting list for both the Kimochi hot lunch delivery, and the Senior daycare program at Kimochi Home. For about 2-3 years, we were able to get a bit of caregiver respite when the Kimochi van came by to pick-up/drop-off our loved one for 1-2 days/week, from about 10am-3pm or so. It was basically "day care" for seniors, and for that you didn't have to be ambulatory. I highly recommend looking into Kimochi Home. They are good, caring people there.

Kat picked me up from my major elective surgery and took the absolute best care of me for five days. I was coming in from out of town and stayed at a facility nearby the surgery center that she recommended (Hideaway House in San Jose- it was perfect), where she stayed in another bedroom. She was phenomenal at making sure I was comfortable, fed healthy, fresh-prepared foods, and took all meds on time. She was reassuring and positive, a professional/expert on all medical elements of the surgery, and just so kind. Her rates were very reasonable, and I really feel it's the best money I've ever spent because those first few days set the tone for a really positive recovery. She kept in communication with my husband, who needed to be back home to take care of our young kids, and I didn't have to focus on anything except recovery. They kept us fully informed of all her care. She was washed daily and bedding and clothing changed daily. All of our family was welcomed into their family. Parking can be difficult as it's public street parking with a two hour limit resulting in many trips to move our cars. Don't believe any one star reviews without clear examples of mistreatment while slandering staff. Crazy tirades on Yelp are not helpful.
