A visit with grandma, looking good and healthy
    nikki s.

My grandmother lived here for about 15 months. She's was very well taken care of by the caretakers there. My dad chose this place over others because when he first met with them, instead of just talking about the facilities, they focused on talking about how they'd care for my grandmother. And I think they lived up to that. Catherine was our main point person, whom we were able to contact via text message anytime, any day. We'd frequently get pictures and videos of my grandma and all the activities they were having her do (arts and crafts, listening to music, physical therapy, movement, eating, etc.). It was always so nice to get those updates and see grandma's smiling face. They were always so nice to me every time I visited as well. They'd set up a private room for us to hang out. I always brought my grandma food and they knew it, so they'd set me up with a table and plates/bowls/utensils/etc to make sure we had everything we needed. My grandma celebrated her 100th birthday there and even though this happened semi during covid times, they allowed us to have a small get together to celebrate her with her close family and friends. They helped us set up and even decorated the room for us and bought my grandma cute little things to wear like a tiara and glasses that said "100" on them. Though it was hard to take my grandma away from her own home, I'm very glad she ended up here at Providence where I know she was taken care of even better than we could. Thank you everyone at Providence for making my grandma's last years of life comfortable. I really appreciate you.

Did anyone have trouble making contact for an appointment to tour the facility or speaking to an administrator? I've tried to contact via phone & registering online but haven't heard back from anyone. Still no response Tim.

He stated that he wasn't paying me a dime, only working with my client directly and hung up in my face when I asked to speak to his supervisor. I would never send a loved one to a facility where the Director treats anyone with anger and hostility. In my 13 years in this business, I've only ever been spoken to with respect and courtesy. In response to David's response: Interesting that none of what you posted David was said to me on our call. Angry, hostile and indignant behavior was all I received. On this forum you take the time to say this to the community. I've been in this field for over 13 years. If I'm with another dying client, most Director's will modify the protocol which doesn't affect anyone in the parties. indignant interaction with me is not explainable after the fact and my clients do not want this for conduct for their family.

The staff are friendly and helpful. They do their best to accommodate your requests and very approachable and easy to work with. Plus a great view of the city and more sunshine than you usually find in San Francisco. Our room was private with a private bath and nice big windows to let in lots of light. There's lot of street parking for visitors and a park across the street. The is neighborhood is residential so quiet and very safe. Close to Castro so you can use Bart and Muni and there's the 6 and 37 bus as well. Would recommend!

Their care for very old and very sick people, some left unresponsive after strokes was full of humanity. I spent at the Lawton Center 2 weeks and all my requests were met with such willingness and smile that I wanted to ask for something else just to see this expression of kindness and benevolence. I would easier trust my own mother to them than to myself, because they were really SKILLED. I asked my friend working in the medical field how such good work of personnel could be achieved? She answered that it could be only the result of responsible supervision of the attentive bosses. I met Lawton Center's Administrator Dan Daly and Director of Nursing Natasha Daragan, who WERE responsible for their crew's coordination and hard work. They themselves are watching everything like hawks and it shows. I appreciated the work of physical therapists who helped patients as a team and individually. The case worker Rudy also was very helpful in complicated and nerve-wrecking dealings with insurance. Absolutely fantastic was CNA Sheryl, who was not only superbly professional, but personally very kind. The society which cares so much for sick and elderly is a pinnacle of civilization. Thanks God that America still has this island of humanity The only bad side is that food is too good for the people who want to lose weight. Tatiana Menaker

Many people avoid Lawton, because they hear of the bad service that's provided bI don't know how they received good ratings.

My motorcycle broke down in front of San Francisco Towers. Due to the timing and the nature of the bike's issue, I was unable to move it or have it towed until the following morning. After spending about an hour trying to remedy the situation myself, I went into the main office to apologize for obstructing the sidewalk area and asked if they had any recommendations as the closest garage I could locate was far away. The receptionist (I can't remember her name, I think it was Irene) was incredibly kind and helpful. She referred me to the manager, Troy, who went above and beyond to help me get my bike somewhere safe until the following day. In the process of trying to repair the bike myself, I met several of the residents, some with a caretaker and others independently. Everyone who I came into contact with was empathetic, engaging and forgiving of the situation. They all seemed to be happy to be there and from what I could see from the main office area, the space looks beautiful. Everyone was genuine, kind, and took time out of their schedule to help me in a time of need. I can't thank them enough for their humanity and understanding. If I had a loved one who needed to live in an assisted living facility, I would certainly want them in the hands and company of people who are as endearing as the ones I met here. Thank you again!

I had a very close friend who broke her hip and was in their rehab section. my friend's daughter never liked me. everyone told me that her daughter wanted to put her in a nursing home for years, but my friend wanted to stay in her home. as I visited her, I noticed she was neglected. her refrigerator was empty, her dinning room table was filled with unopened mail. I started helping her by taking her grocery shopping, Dr appointments, lunch, beach and more. I guess her daughter didn't like it. do she told The Towers not to allow me to visit her and they did, even though she wanted me to. they made me feel like a criminal and security would not let me visit or park indefinitely. the resident had to talk to he director, he did an investigation that took a week and decided that I could visit on a restricted time and with staff present. the resident was not happy with that decision. the daughter had her take 3 different psychological exams to determine her incompetent and she passed them with flying colors. I had to get the ombudsman ofhice involved. They made sure that my friend got what she wanted and that was to not be isolated, and let her friends see her Including me.
