I wanted to update my review I wrote back in May of 2024 to say that we are still so very pleased with the great care Providence Place is providing my mother. Providence is ideally suited for late-state dementia cases. Its caregivers are experienced, caring, and tuned in to the unique challenges that come with severe dementia. I especially like Providence Place's pricing model in that they don't gouge you with added costs for every little thing; their pricing is clear upfront. Fresh meals are provided daily, music and light exercise therapy are woven into the weekly routine, and opportunities given to residents to enjoy the fresh air outside. It's never easy seeing the irreversible march of this horrible disease on loved ones. But knowing my mom and the other residents at Providence are getting great care, is so comforting! read more

Providence Place is a loving place with excellent care. We are so glad we were able to move my husband to Providence Place! He has been there a year. Previously, he spent 2 years at Ivy Park at Cathedral Hill. They are very different. Providence Place is a small facility that focuses on excellent care, among other important things. Ivy Park, by contrast, is corporate, and spends money on marketing and open houses. Providence Place (PP) spends money on the residents -- on excellent and loving care, tasty food, and staff who are loyal and remain with PP for years. Staff turnover at PP is very low! At Ivy Park, however, staff turnover was frequent! We never knew who would be my husband's caregiver that day. Consistency of care is important in noticing subtle, but important, changes in residents. This can affect their condition. My husband's main caregivers at PP, Pia and Saul, are outstanding - loving, respectful, caring, patient, and kind. Catherine, the manager, is on top of everything, knows each resident and is very responsive. Often, she sends photos of my husband doing something that day. Twice a week a guitarist comes and plays live music, and an activity director comes 5 times a week to do activities with the residents, such as "bowling," balloon tossing, and coloring. In addition, the residents are bathed every day! This is amazing to me, especially because my husband is wheelchair-bound, but as Catherine says, "The residents feel better this way." It is true. Also, their teeth are brushed! This was not done at Ivy Park and there they were bathed only 2-3 times a week. My husband is a vegetarian and that is no problem at PP. The food is high-quality, tasty and varied. At Ivy Park, it was so difficult for him to receive adequate nutrition; the staff there took away the main course (non-veg) and gave him only the vegetables - no protein! My husband declined. He also became very dehydrated. At PP, however, he is stable and doing well. We are so glad that he is at PP where we feel like we don't have to oversee things. We trust the staff to do their jobs. Our family is very grateful for all the wonderful caregivers at Providence Place. On our visits to our mom, we see first hand the tender, loving care Lana and Lennie provide her. We also love that Lana speaks Chinese. The Director, Catherine, is also amazing. She's shared with us great insights into the journey a loved one with dementia and their family members take during this challenging time. Catherine also shares with us photos and videos each week from special occasions to day to day activities to physical therapy. Speaking of physical therapy, Kay does a great job and it's so good seeing our mom being so active. My mom gets three great nutritious meals a day prepared from scratch by the chef every day. Providence Place is a smaller facility with limited beds and low employee turnover which is perfect for the extra expert care and attention. We were desperate to find a home for my father as he had Alzheimer's, tended to fall, needed care 24/7 pretty much. When desperate one takes desperate measures; we were well sold on this home after taking a tour and meeting the manager. Unfortunately we never ever met with the owner although I read that she would seek out new and prospective families. I thought that it's standard practice to want to meet the family. Perhaps she was just too busy to meet with our family. So all contact was with the manager. The facility does look great after one tours others that looked pretty questionable. However, the care came at a huge cost literally; my mother had to go through savings. It cost nearly $4K/month some years ago; I can't imagine how much it costs now but imagine it has increased substantially like tuition every year an increase. In visiting my father, we did notice that the elevator was accessible to anyone. Everything seemed okay at first until my father sustained a fall. How that was even possible we only could guess he wasn't looked at carefully. Ended up hitting his head; they took him to the hospital ER, a nightmare of an ER. They forced his caregiver on duty to accompany him, but she did not speak proper English. It was a nightmare scenario in short. So my father's stay at this place was not a good experience for him and for his family. Whether it was better or not, his doctor approved him for hospice in the end. That was another horror story with another set of huge costs involved. In short, there is no care home that really 'cares for' their charges. Before this place we chose a family owned 'care home' which was a tad cheaper yet even more dangerous. Sadly in the US care homes is big business and are run for the most profits as possible. read more

We placed our mother in Providence Place last year because she had developed a neurodegenerative disorder with severe cognitive impairments. Before that, we had been taking care of her at home with 24-hour assistance from caregivers. Much to our surprise, Mom appears happier now at Providence than she had been at home, probably in large because of the increased stimulation she is receiving from other residents and staff, as well as the various scheduled activities. Providence is meticulously clean, tastefully decorated, and unlike many assisted living facilities I've visited, does not smell. The meals are healthy, and the residents always look forward to them. Most importantly, the staff at Providence is simply awesome - well-trained, caring, and friendly. Different members of our family drop in unannounced at Providence several times a week and often stay for several hours. We have never witnessed anything but the best care. read more

My mom was hospitalized for a short time on her release we needed for her to have more care than we could provide. I had checked out several memory care facilities in San Francisco a couple of years before. The one I had decided on if I needed to do this was Povidence. Catherine gave me a tour of Providence and it was clear that she was intimately involved with her staff and patients. She wanted to know about my mom as a person, her interests in music, reading, entertainment and hobbies. She outlined the activities provided by Lana and Jeannie. The staff on this first encounter was upbeat and engaged with their patients. My first priority was the staffing and I felt I could be comfortable with these people caring for my mom. In fact, I felt down right lucky. My mom is one of the more difficult patients, but I have never seen or sensed any frustration from the staff in dealing with her, much less with anyone else who is lucky enough to be here. Kindness is a cultural trait at Providence. Vicky provides care during the day. She cuts her meals up and hand feeds her. That's truly personal care considering she has others to look after at this time. She is constantly walking by her room and waving to her. Marlon and Lala continue to provide this kind of care as the day progress to night. As Catherine told me that most of this staff has been with her for a long time. They have long time experience with dementia which is invaluable. I cannot recommend Providence Place to you to highly. read more

Providence Place is a god-send for my father. After being recommended for enhanced memory care by another facility due to Alzheimer behavioral challenges, we looked for alternative care in San Francisco. Providence Place was at the top of the endorsement list by care providers and placement agencies. When we first toured, we were blown away by Catherine, her teams commitment to cleanliness (resident and facility) and residential life. We really liked the smaller floor-to-floor community intimacy. The residents are always within view of the care givers. Our initial tour and conversation was 100% focused on dad and his need now and how they would change over the future. Our dad has been at the facility for six months. We are very pleased with the level of support, communication and care at Providence Place. Dad is supported by a host of loving caregivers - Pia, Camilo, Arling, Carmen provide incredible support during the day. Roger is instrumental with nightly challenges. The patience and attentiveness of the team is admirable. Our dad is eating better with fresh, home cooked meals daily. The care is augmented by Lana, Providence Place's community director. She incorporates music, singing and piano and brightens the resident's day. Catherine is great about providing daily photos and videos of our dad making best attempts to move with a little rhythm. My grandmother lived here for about 15 months. She's was very well taken care of by the caretakers there. My dad chose this place over others because when he first met with them, instead of just talking about the facilities, they focused on talking about how they'd care for my grandmother. And I think they lived up to that. Catherine was our main point person, whom we were able to contact via text message anytime, any day. We'd frequently get pictures and videos of my grandma and all the activities they were having her do (arts and crafts, listening to music, physical therapy, movement, eating, etc.). It was always so nice to get those updates and see grandma's smiling face. They were always so nice to me every time I visited as well. They'd set up a private room for us to hang out. I always brought my grandma food and they knew it, so they'd set me up with a table and plates/bowls/utensils/etc to make sure we had everything we needed. My grandma celebrated her 100th birthday there and even though this happened semi during covid times, they allowed us to have a small get together to celebrate her with her close family and friends. They helped us set up and even decorated the room for us and bought my grandma cute little things to wear like a tiara and glasses that said "100" on them. Though it was hard to take my grandma away from her own home, I'm very glad she ended up here at Providence where I know she was taken care of even better than we could. I never imagined I'd say that I feel reassured and relaxed about anything to do with Alzheimer's, but I cannot say enough good things about the memory care at Providence Place. The entire team focuses on patient care. Period. Caregivers, the director, activities director, etc: all work together to ensure the safety and comfort of all residents. About 3 years ago, we went from an impossible situation with my very active mom getting essentially thrown out of a large, beautiful, corporate-run memory care wing of an assisted living facility to the loving embrace of Catherine and her team. They worked with us very closely to replace the trauma of that situation with a clear priority on patient care, including but not limited to: meds management (and for many, winding down of meds, thanks to the calming environment there!), ever-increasing support for ever-diminishing ADL ability, lots of communication, and a welcoming spirit. This means we are always comfortable visiting and hanging out with residents and the very supportive caregivers whom we've come to know well, and even other families of residents at holiday gatherings. You really do feel the family love at PP. Facility-wise, PP is always clean, festive, and adequately staffed. Plus, my mom has a better appetite than in many many years, thanks to their from-scratch food. Over the years, they have responded compassionately to various health emergencies with complications from my mom's Alzheimer's, getting and keeping everyone in the loop, and being flexible overall. I was impressed how quickly they responded to the pandemic, taking the hard decision to shut down before any orders were issued. (In general, their flu-season protocols were on point.) They've made sure we have plenty of updates and lots of photos, which makes it easier to be away from my mom for so long. Alzheimer's is a ruthless destroyer of dignity, but I know my mom would be proud of our decision to have her live here. read more

I come from a very traditional family. My siblings and I took turns in providing care at home for our Mother. Believe me when I say, my siblings and I literally visited every single facility in San Francisco and some in the peninsula. We did our own research. I am a retired faculty member of UCSF. My partner of 48 years was placed in a skilled nursing facility where She showed no progress, had no physical therapy and was never fed unless I did it. She lost over 59 Pounds, was dirty and I feared would die. I found Providence place and within three days, she was clean, responsive and communicating. She was somewhat combative but the stall has worked with her so she is now content. I was so afraid they might not keep her but oh no they don't give up and the kindness to her and to me has turned this into a success story. If you want your loved one cared for it It would be hard for you to find a better place. There are many activities, Holidays and birthdays are celebrated with singing, decorations and the greatest variety of food. The place is like a home, always with fresh flowers, always warm and inviting. I visit almost every other day and have never seen the staff be harsh with a patient. They are kind and caring. My mom has been at Providence over two years now and it really feels as if she has another family in the caring staff of Providence Place. Catherine and Galina are always proactive in helping determine my mom's needs and provide for them. Lana, the activities director is talented, caring and great fun. Providence hosts parties for all the major holidays where residents, staff and families come together to celebrate and enjoy each other's company. Having struggled with progression of my mother's disease and how to best care for her as her dementia worsened I am grateful for the care and loving kindness of the Providence staff. I truly feel that my mom is cared for as a person at Providence. The setting is very warm and homey which I feel has made my mom feel more comfortable that an institutionalized setting would. Providence provides wonderful, loving care. The staff - from Galina and Catherine running the place, to the cooks (Jake) to Lana (activities) and every caregiver. My father is in the best situation possible because of the staff. He loves to eat and religion has been important, and Lana in particular will provide programs and music that each resident recognizes. The transition was difficult, and we unfortunately had to move my father twice prior to finding a home at Providence. This has been a very stressfull time for my mom and myself. I live in southern California and my mom and step-father live in San Francisco. My step-father's condition has progressed rapidly over the past six months. This situation was all new to us. We didn't know where to turn. It was almost a sense of panic and fear. Explained his condition to us in very understandable terms. Basically, set us at ease. We found the whole facility to be a very family like evironment. The whole staff is extremely professional, but more importantly are caring individuals. From the caregivers, to the event coordinators, to the administrative staff, everyone is truly special. If you are reading this, my assumption is that you and your family have been thrust into situation that can be quite scary. You are currently looking for some comfort and assistance. I appreciate how much Catherine and the team work with me to ensure her continued comfort and safety. Another highlight of Providence Place is the low turnover of staff. When I first called and spoke to Catherine, Providence sounded like a great home care option that has experience with people who have mental disabilities. We set up an appointment for my family member and arranged for a preliminary in-home assessment. We called several times to confirm but did not hear back. On the day of the appointment, nobody showed. The office wasn't open because it was the weekend but I left a phone message and emailed. They never called to explain or apologize. The decision one makes to remove a loved one from a safe, controlled environment at home and into a new and strange one is a very hard decision to make. It is also, frequently, done at a desperate time. We are extremely grateful for the gentle, thoughtful and proactive care Providence Place has given my father during his time with them as well as the friendship and love that the staff also generously extended to our family. Providence Place did not so much as offer us a business transaction or provided a necessary service, they enfolded us with the genuine love and care of an extended family for which we are eternally grateful. Earlier this year, my father's neurological palsy progressed to such an extent that it robbed him the majority of his mobility and speech, which made it impossible to properly care for him at home. It was an extremely difficult time for my mom, who had been his wife for over 50 years and his primary caretaker for almost a decade. We arrived for our interview at Providence Place depressed, shell shocked and stressed but were greeted by Catherine who quickly, instinctively and proactively enfolded us with supportive words and understanding to our situation. The follow up interview with my dad was arranged quickly and the move in was efficient and welcoming. The first afternoon was spent making my father comfortable and also personal attention was unexpectedly and gratefully given to my mom when a caretaker took over an hour to ask after her health, stories about dad's life and just listen to her de-stress and ramble. It was the first time in three months that my mom felt some relief and was a gift beyond measure. Catherine offered advice when we needed it and was proactive in offering information when situations arrived and we fumbled around in inexperience. Catherine and staff were also quick to come to our defense when health insurance/red tape reared it's head and had no problems being aggressive when them when needed. We received phone calls, text messages, photos with dad's updates and paperwork were managed efficiently. During several ER visits dad had to make and stay over night due to infections, Catherine was available at all hours and exhibited genuine worry for both my father and the family's wellbeing. The staff are friendly with good energy, tasks (considering the typical chaos that sometimes ensues) were preformed efficiently, meals were on time and the place was clean. This is not a "hotel-spa" experience that some placed advertise and promote; it has a cozy and family feel. The building is three floors, there are no private rooms and the parking is a bit difficult. However, the location was perfect by bus, which made it easy for my mom to visit with dad daily and spend a good part of the day there. The cost includes all supplies so there are no surprises at the end of the month, unlike some other facilities. All in all, we don't believe that there would have been a better place in the city for my father or my family than Providence Place. read more

My grandmother recently was placed into Providence Place due to her higher need of care. The home is beautiful, always looks presentable and clean. There are also many fun activities happening daily that keep the residents engaged & keep their mind sharp! Most recently, a holiday party that include the families of our loved ones! Janet has been a huge factor in my grandmothers happiness at Providence Place. She is always super happy and joyed to help, and quick to make jokes to lighten the mood. This place has been a very good fit for my wife with late stage early onset Alzheimer's because all the staff are hands on and really know the details of my wife's condition. I had overlooked it before because I thought it was too small and funky. Well, it is not funky, and its smallness is what makes it so good. Catherine has been very helpful with my wife's care and helps with the doctors. More important is her experience in these matters to help guide us along. Several other memory care facilities recommended PP because they will handle "behaviors". They do and are quite good at it. I tried a bigger fancier place and the care was not appropriate. Having been married to my wife for 16 years and being part of her very traditional Chinese family, I learned the value of respect and love for elders. It was a tough decision for the entire family to move my mother in law to an assisted living facility. Just like everyone else, we tried to keep her at home with 24 hour home care staff but it was a failure. Our family toured every single facility in San Francisco, Marin and the Peninsula. Due to the fact that my mother in law speak very little English and has memory impairment, ideally we thought placing her in an exclusive Chinese speaking community would be best for her needs. Up to this day, a year has passed we are most grateful we found Providence Place. Catherine Villegas their Health and Wellness Director is an "angel" that was sent to our family! There are 8 children in the family that live locally and some from the East Coast. We consistently receive daily or sometimes weekly updates from Catherine Villegas. Catherine despite her extremely busy schedule would join us during Mommy's doctor's appointments and she even visited her at the hospital. She responds promptly when we call or email her even in the late evenings. She is a true leader, the driving force why this place is a success......... very caring, very sincere and just loving in every single way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mom was diagnosed at 59 with Younger Onset Alzheimer's disease. When it came time for transitioning her into a home that specialized in Alzheimer's care we looked at many and placed her in one, but due to her age and vitality no facility could provide the support she needed. We were at our wits' until we attended a support group and someone recommended Providence Place. It is a smaller facility that has a homelike feel. It is not owned or managed by a real estate trust like most long-term care facilities, but is owned and operated by a family, meaning they have low staff turnover and really care for the patients. The facility doesn't have a swimming pool or fancy amenities, but they put their resources into having a lot of staff per resident, which is what my mom needs. Since being at Providence Place, she's gained weight and has adopted a routine that really improves her quality of life. I particularly like that during non-covid times they are open to visitors at any time, so I can always drop in and have a meal with my mom. Since Covid-19 they've adopted strict safety standards, so we cannot visit but I'm grateful knowing that their caring staff will ensure my mom enjoys a high level of comfort and stays safe. read more

It's hard to leave your loved one in any institution, let's be honest. But if you have to, Providence Place on Geary is one of the best, and I've seen quite a few of them over the years. I was responsible for an elderly friend, and I put her in Providence three years ago. Last month she died there, with hospice care. The multi-story medium-size facility is clean and attractive, the food is really good (yes, I tried it!), but best of all is the staff. They're very attentive and caring. They were always welcoming and helpful whenever I rang the bell there, day or night. They were good at responding to my emails and phone calls, especially Catherine. Through my many visits over the years, I came to think of many of them as extended family. Certainly the heart and soul of the "family" is Lana, the activities director, a warm, energetic and talented Russian émigré. Shuttling with her keyboard and costumes from one floor to the other, Lana talks and laughs with each resident, sings for them, plays games with them, leads them in exercise, and shows that she genuinely cares about each one as a valuable human being. No birthday or holiday is too small for Lana to celebrate with decorations, live music, party favors and cake! Every ethnicity, religion and tradition is respected and celebrated (and they are ALL represented by the 25-30 residents). I withhold 4 stars only because I feel the $7000/mo. we paid is a little high, as is the automatic 4% yearly increase (an amount higher than the raise in my daughter's college tuition, or the rate of inflation). I also found that the double rooms, while attractively decorated, are somewhat cramped, and the closet and drawer space are quite limited. read more

My mom has been a resident at Providence for almost a year now. It's been quite an adjustment for her. The staff at Providence have been great in helping her with the transition. Lana, the activities coordinator, is wonderful. She makes sure that mom is stimulated with the activities that she provides. She takes mom out for walks and keeps her engaged with brain games. I cannot say enough of her hard work!! The caregivers are patient and caring. I must commend Providence for their decisive and quick action during this COVID pandemic. On March 9, they closed down the facility to visitors. This was almost one full week before the city of San Francisco's lock down started. They had their employees change clothing and shoes upon entering the premises so as not to contaminate the place from their outside clothes. They stopped communal dining and group activities and socially distanced all their residents. They wore masks, gloves, cleaned and disinfected multiple times daily. With great effort, they arranged for the entire staff and residents to get tested and continue to monitor their staff. Throughout this trying time, they have continued to communicate with the families, often sending pictures and videos of our loved ones. Thank you Providence! read more

I wanted a place where for my husband where family would feel comfortable visiting him. Providence Place feels like home. We were drawn to the more structured setting because John had started wandering aimlessly. They offer things to participate in, but the great thing about them is they're really good at letting residents just be themselves. It's very low-key and the atmosphere is very mellow. They know that these people have odd behaviors, and they don't try to get them to conform to a particular agenda. My husband has adapted way better than I thought he would, and he's way more relaxed than he was at home even though for a number of months before the move, he was never alone in the house. I'm so happy we made the move. They're really responsible and communicative. They send me pictures showing how John is spending his time during the day. Providence Place is all about the wonderful caring staff, especially Catherine, Svetlana, and Ann Maria. I read how wonderful Providence Place is from other reviewers before our initial visit. The wonderful things the reviewers had to say proved to be so accurate. They REALLY care. Although our relative was there only 60 days, he was part of their family. We loved getting videos and photos of his daily events. We had been rejected from another facility, a fancy one in Kentfield, and were concerned about "eviction" going forward. They assured us they do not evict clients, but make situations work. And they did. We got a dozen or photos of John's last days. We were so glad we found PP and trusted them. Providence Place has been great for us and takes great care of my father. He had previously been at Atria Burlingame but his mental state had deteriorated enough such that even their Memory Care floor could no longer take care of his needs anymore and his pureed diet restriction. Earlier this year I was given 30 days to find a new facility and thankfully I found Providence Place. Since then, they've taken care of everything and watched carefully over him. It's wonderful that they can arrange any necessary doctor visits and accompany my dad there. I work outside the city during the week so it's difficult for me to handle any such arrangements myself. Compare to Atria, the "high touch" service of Providence Pace and their small size has been a godsend. Even my aunt appreciates how well my dad is being cared for. read more

We placed my Mom at Providence Care in late April and have been very pleased with the care. After touring several other larger facilities, we felt that Providence provided a more home like vs an institutionalized environment for our Mom. The ratio of caregivers to residents is higher than at other facilities; the caregivers are attentive and caring, and the owner, Galina, and Catherine, the director is responsive to any suggestions for change. When my Mom first moved into the facility, the bathroom in her bedroom needed repair and the toilet seat needed replacement. The repairs were completed by the next week! My siblings and I were of course concerned about our Mom's transition to the home. To ease our minds, Catherine sent us photos of Mom participating in activities daily! The care staff are very positive and upbeat; they have made my Mom smile more than we have seen in years! In addition, the staff have gone out of their way to ease the transition for my Dad and encourages him to visit as often as he likes. As other reviewers have stated, the daily activities and holiday celebrations are a nice touch. Recently Lana coordinated a birthday party for my Mom and another resident. It was a nice way for our family to celebrate my Mom's birthday and to meet the family members of the other resident. My Mom also especially likes the music program; she taps her feet and sings with the music. We have not seen our Mom be so responsive in years! Thank you to all the Providence staff! read more

In December we moved Mom from So Cal to Providence. I'm so thankful for the love and care she receives in her new community, Catherine the Health and Wellness Director at Providence, and Galina the owner keep us well informed of mom's needs, which gives peace of mind. Wheelchair bound, they help transport her to doctor appointments. The care givers are so kind and helpful. But the cherry on top of the whole experience at Providence is Lana, the activities director! Wow! I think anyone that's seen Lana in action would share in exclaiming that same one word - Wow! Lana gives her heart and soul to the residents. She's not only a complete ball of energy in activities, I once saw her in a new resident's room for hours comforting him as he cried over the confusion of his first day in his new surroundings and new home at Providence. She has a heart of gold, and cares so much for the residents. We just had a 89th birthday party for mom, Lana completely knocked herself out to make it a special day for mom, her adorable husband Dima, a professional puppeteer, even accompanied her as they entertained residents with their many gifts of - all things party and activity! Mom missed having Mexican food since she moved, so we made it a Mexican restaurant theme party. Lana and Dima pulled out all the stops. Many photos were taken, we now have these as keepsakes of mom so happy and having such a good time! Lana is at Providence 5 days a week and makes each one of those days filled with meaningful activities, some activities I didn't even know mom was capable of doing anymore. What a gift! What a comfort knowing mom is in such good care. I highly recommend Providence. read more

The GOLD standard in compassionate care for your loved one specializing in memory care. I've looked at over 20 places in the bay area and nothing comes close. The care givers are in touch with individual needs and go above and beyond to ensure each resident is comfortable, safe and well cared for. My Mom was admitted to the ER 3 weeks after moving in and the Director, Catherine visited us and offered to send a caregiver to help my Mom eat when needed. My Mom is thankfully back at Providence and needs extra care as she recovers but this has never been a problem. The team of professional caregivers proactively communicate with me on my Mom's progress and send video's and pictures. I wish I had known about Providence Place when my Mom moved to California , she was previously at Atria in Burlingame. I can finally relax knowing she is well cared for at Providence! I cannot recommend PP highly enough for their help to my family. My wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Dementia and was in a very agitated state. After trying to keep her at home with help, we realized that we needed more professional help and visited several care centers. Many of them had excellent facilities but staffing did not seem adequate. At that very trying time for our family, Catherine took a personal interest and visited my wife in the hospital. At PP we found a much larger caregiver to patient ratio but more important the staff seemed truly dedicated on a personal level. Each of the staff engages with the patient in kind and loving relationship which provides comfort to the family. Catherine, the Director, takes a personal interest in her patients and works long hours and is always available. She and her staff have been with PP for many years, unlike many of the centers we visited. It is obvious that the caregivers are there because they are dedicated to the work they are doing. When my wife needs external medical assistance, PP provides a staff member to accompany her which is of great help. Any organization which provides specialized care to its customers is judged by the quality of its staff as well as its management, and I have to give the utmost credit to Catherine, Janet and the other caregivers for their professionalism as well as the kindness and sensitivity they display. My mom suffered a stroke about six months ago and has dementia. After looking at several facilities, my dad and I met Galina and were very impressed with her and the care and passion she has for her facility. The staff is very caring and attentive making sure I receive daily updates via text or email of photos and videos of my mom. Lana the activities director has been a huge part of my moms life engaging her in several activities and music daily. I can't say enough good things about the quality of life for the patients at Providence. I would highly recommend this place to anyone seeking care for their parents or elderly people that are in need of assistance. read more

These folks are saints & angels at Providence....if you're reading this review you probably already know how difficult it is to care for someone in any stage of Dementia. The Providence team treats my Mom with dignity & respect, like she is part of their family. The only thing to watch for would be to make sure the same team of people stays in place, as it's ultimately the commitment of the staff that makes this place great. As long as they keep their core team in place, and/or hire equally qualified replacements then i would see this as a very viable long term solution and we plan to keep mom there. thanks, read more

It was great fun at Providence Place (Geary location) where we (a family member and close friends) celebrated Gloria's 90th Birthday! Gloria has been a resident there for the past 1-1/2 years. I especially like to applaud Lana, the Activities Coordinator, for the very fine job she did coordinating all the activities and acquiring the decorations. Due to my mothers deteriorating mental and physical health, it became necessary to find a care facility that can take care of her special needs(dementia, confusion). After researching many facilities I was very impressed after talking to Catherine about how they specifically care for each patient's specific needs. Since admitting my mother, the entire staff has been very pro-active in dealing with my mothers changing needs. One of those changes are her need for dialysis three times a week and a treatment center. They were very accommodating in helping her in every way to be treated off sight, helping her and preparing her ( mentally and physically) for these appointments. Then the unthinkable happened Covid-19. Knowing of how vulnerable the elderly are, Providence Place immediately took steps to prepare for this. Testing of my mother and all of the other patients happened quickly, frequent updates from the staff about new precautionary steps to ensure the patients health. Because my mother leaves the facility three times a week, covid was a real concern. The staff has taken every measure to ensure her safety in these difficult times, and im happy to say that confident in the fact that my mother is as safe as can be here. Because of the lockdown, and my inability to visit my mom, Catherine or other staff take daily videos and provide daily updates, even providing FaceTime video with my mother whenever Iv asked. read more

This is an extraordinary facility. Like me, you may be researching places for your elderly parent, and you may be feeling torn and even traumatized because you've reached the place where you need to put a parent in an assisted living facility. This has been the case for me--I never thought I would be making this kind of decision. I moved my mother with great trepidation right before Covid19 struck the city. I was able to visit my mother in person long enough to watch her relax, as her physical needs were taken care of with great tenderness. I realized she had been afraid and tense from pain, uncertainty and her previous substandard care. Providence was quick to shut its doors to keep infection out of its facility--I can only imagine the stress of the caring staff who work there. And while I have not enjoyed been physically separated from my mother, I am confident that the swift action has kept her safe. I am still able to contact her--the staff encourages this. I cannot recommend his facility highly enough. read more
