The customer service was so-so. No one really seemed to care that I was about to spend quite a bit of money on the bike and wanted something right. I know quite a bit about the bike I wanted and instead of offering to order the right bike, they went ahead and try to sell me on something that wasn't quite right for me. I really don't like bike shops who just try to sell what they have in inventory versus really talking to the customer. On a high note, if you talk to them, they generally have very good competitive pricing. read more

We had an amazing experience here today. I was buying my first road bike and had visited 5 shops prior to visiting this one. I'm a female and a small build so I was having some difficulty finding a womens' bike in a size 48 available for a test ride at some of the other shops. At Center Cycle, though, there were a number of 48s for me to test ride and they had the two I was specifically looking for--the specialized amira sport and amira comp. I ended up loving the Amira Comp and was ready to buy on the spot. The guys at Center Cycle were willing to work with us a little bit on price. They then spent the next hour, hour and a half, helping me with pedal and shoe selection, installing the pedals and bottle holders, and fitting the bike and working with me on clipping in/out by setting me and my bike up in the trainer. I just bought a Specialized Sirrus Sport from them about a week ago and I couldn't be happier. The customer service was great. The person who helped me let me try multiple bikes and gave me suggestions on other bikes I might like. It was a low pressure enviroment and everyone was really laid back. They even let my Mom try a few bikes before I bought. Honestly, I went to another bike store (closer to my house) and was let down. Their store was unorganized and they had nothing that I wanted in stock. Central Cycle, is clean, organized and the selection is huge. I will be going back here for all my cycling needs. read more

Amazing experiencd. After having been turned off by several different stores where we felt rushed or ignored my wife looked up center cycle. So happy we went down there. The place feels massive with 4 bicycle elevators that I have never seen before. The staff was so nice and took my wife's ideas into account and selected several bikes to try. Then they let us go outside and ride them! Afterwards the staff traded notes with us about the experience and adjusted their choices based on that. They also gave a 30 day period after buying the bike where we could get a discount on supplies. Highly recommend them for a no pressure, supportive buying experience! read more

REVIEW FOR REPAIR SERVICES ONLY Step one: Have two 15-20 year old bikes that need some derailleur adjustment. Step two: Have an extremely knowledgeable repair staff member (Greg) tell you that it's likely NOT due to what you read on the internet (losing tension), but instead the grease drying up inside the shifters and gummig everything up. Step three: Have him do an annoying task of pulling apart all 4 shifters, cleaning them out, and replacing the grease. Step four: Get a text message saying everything's done. Step five: Try out bikes that feel like new for pretty low money. I'm ecstatic about the repair services here. They have a ton of work to do and are both up-front (i.e. actually working WITH the customer) and very knowledgeable. I will continue to have my bikes serviced here. read more

Great place to stop in and bike browse, and I have never had bad service, they are always eager track down what I need and can usually have what I wanted in a day or two on orders. Bike selection is superb, if you cannot find a bike for your needs there then you aren't really looking for a bicycle. From the time I entered the shop...I was greeted, and offered assistance on anything I may have needed. That there impressed me big time! As a fellow cyclist, I love visiting different shops wherever I travel. And this shop is top notch, they know what they are selling and offer an open mind opinion on any possible purchase. For my first visit, I only purchased a cycling jersey of a local team that they sponsor which carries the store's name. I bought my first bike from Dave at Center Cycles back in the mid 90's when they were in the store just off Rainier Ave in Renton. They have always had a great selection and are very knowledgeable. Just to counter-point a few reviews I read here about people feeling like they weren't welcomed to the store, or that they had to ask for help before they were helped. That hasn't been my experience, although I do usually say hello to the staff at any store I enter. Another thought - if you're just entering a sport (like Mtn. biking or road racing), what is perceived as the "cool" guys working there are just normal people, who have taken their sport to very high levels. This benefits us as consumers as we get to learn from them on what the latest innovations are, or where the best local spots are to go ride. When the sport is on the edge (some biking is edgy), sometimes these experts don't have the first impression as being approachable (?), but I have found everyone I've ever talked to at Center Cycles to be very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Side note - I have sent 4-5 friends to Dave over the years. Each time, they returned telling me they had a good experience - often buying a bike. So for my review, after purchasing personally ~10 bikes for myself and family over more than 15 years, I'm a very happy, returning customer. Great work Dave. Keep it up! Please don't buy your stuff here. I'm a regular customer spending quite a lot of money here over the year but they refused to return just $40 worth of brand new parts that they still carry in stock. I originally bought a total of 2 rib cages here and came back couple weeks later to buy 2 more as I thought my wife tossed away my previous purchase. I came in to get store credit with these brand new cages and they turned me away immediately. I was about to use the credit for another bike for my wife and couple raining gears with a new jacket but I guess this is not a store I'd deal with. Manager Dave isn't a pleasant guy to talk with. I have spent around $20K on bikes and gear at Center Cycle, and I go there with all my biking needs. Dave, and the rest of his crew are always there to help figure shit out. Good place, good people, great selection, fast delivery of non-stock merchandise... Perfect example: had a brake emergency and had to go to another shop for help, they told me I needed to bleed my brakes and make an appointment for 1 week out. That didn't sit well with me, so i went to Dave who used his screwdriver to fix my breaks on the spot- I was riding that same day. Go there, don't be stupid :) read more

Lately I've been spending too much $$ on all things bike-related, so I found myself stopping off at Center Cycle to do some recreational shopping. It's a big shop and they have a pretty broad selection of mid-range bikes and gear. I would NOT go back to this shop for two reasons. First and foremost, the "service" was totally non-existent. I spent about 30 minutes looking around the shop and not one of the guys working there ever bothered to say hello or to ask me if I needed any help. Since there were only a couple of other shoppers in the store and since there were 3 guys standing around behind the cash registers chatting among themselves this really bugged me. If I'm going to spend money in a bike shop I at least want them to acknowledge my existence. That didn't happen at Center Cycle. Beyond the indifferent staff, the prices sucked. Everything was selling for at least full retail and a lot of stuff was marked up 5-10% above retail. I can find better prices and better service at my favorite local bike shop, so I won't be going back to this dud. read more

it's nice to have a bike shop that's here in the south end - I've been shopping for the past couple of months now and found most shops are all in Seattle. Not only are the locally in the south end they have a huge selection of bikes of all sorts. Mountain, to trail, to road, to race. A solid selection of bike parts, accessories and gear. They also have a good size service shop as well. I worked with Cole and he was helpful in finding me a good beginner bike and recommend some good gear to start. It's an expensive hobby to begin but a healthy one. In the past couple of months I found that buying used stuff doesn't save enough money and you don't know what you're getting into. After 45 minutes of deciding, I bought myself a new 2015 Specialized Allez Elite bike and I couldn't be happier! With the purchase of a new bike CC offers 10% off bike parts/accessories for the next 30 days which is a nice deal as well. I recommend these guys if you're looking for some bike stuff! read more

Huge selection, great repair jobs, and an overall good experience. I was given some great advice for a strange repair and it worked great. The environment is laid back and the place is so big that it can sometimes be tough to get help, but that's what is nice as the environment is not high pressure sales. I just purchased a new Specialized Enduro for my son and myself. I received both great service and a great price. What made it special was the owner Dave took my son aside and answered questions and Dave told him of the importance of wearing a good helmet at all times when riding his bike. Dave also told him if he skateboards, he could use a helmet for that also. Of course when it comes from anyone but Dad. Then it's a great idea. I purchased a bike from here three or four years ago and recently had it stollen. When I called them to get a serial number or record of the purchase, I received rude customer service from the owner. I spent a great deal of money on the bike and was told that it was my problem and that they had no record of the purchase even though it is "their business practice" to provide customers with serial numbers and proof of purchase. To be yelled at over the phone by the owner is inexcusable, to say the least. Customer service is all around piss poor, from purchase onward. To waste your time or money here. Nice place with a lot of selection, but I needed the handlebars on my road bike raised. They wanted to sell me new handlebars,wraps for said handlebars, etc., as well as restring my brake lines. We're talking $200+ here. I took my bike to a different shop, which sold me a longer stem for $25 and put it on for no labor charge. Sorry guys....wasn't impressed. read more
