This is one of the best businesses anywhere! Forget computer shops, I'm talking all businesses!!…read more The guys at Max Help will sit down and talk with you for as long as you need to understand your computer problems and your solution. You will not be talked down to, or treated like an idiot, but instead a valued customer. I went in a year ago with a broken hard drive. They salvaged my data, then replaced my hard drive quickly and affordably. This year I went back with a question about managing data for photo and video editing. They talked to me for 30 minutes, recommended a product, and showed me the cheapest place to buy it online. Then told me if I had any questions getting it fired up, to call or bring it in for more help. What more can you ask for? I'm sure many of you have had that terrible experience at the Mac Store and the smug "Genius Bar," where you can expect to be treated rudely and overcharged. I've taken my computer to other independent shops with poor results and variable customer service. What a relief to have found Max Help!! These guys are a diamond in the rough, a swan amongst geese, the cream of the crop! Don't think twice, take your Mac here and you'll be a lifetime customer!

Sometime after the successful repair of my previously non-functional computer, AJ mentioned in a…read morefollow-up conversation that he sometimes uses Chat GPT when he needs difficult questions answered. Due to how such AI causes problems for creators because of how their work is stolen to train it, the environment as a result of the obscene amount of energy required for it to function, and in general since it is not reliably accurate, I tried to reach out to AJ multiple times about both his overall usage of it and if he used it while repairing my computer. Seeing as I did not get a response to the voice messages that I left him following an initial interaction in which we misunderstood what we were speaking of on this topic, I have decided to lower my five-star review of his establishment to a four-star one. Though I could and maybe should lower it to a three-star one, the fact still remains that he brought my computer back from the brink of death, which is to say that he is skilled but does not always use the most conscientious of methods.

We talked for awhile, got the problem diagnosed, the guy at the desk called the owner to confirm the part being ordered, great. Get to a week later, I call back about the part because I need it replaced. "Oh, $, we never got that ordered. I was mowing my lawn when he called me and..." Oh boy. Not good. Let's review: * Immediately refunded my deposit * Continued investigation and found they DID get it ordered * Did not demand a new deposit * Continued tracking the package, even though it seemed to be lost - well beyond the expected Tuesday-Wednesday timeframe. * It arrived while I was at work, really didn't have time to fix it. But he called me up to let me know and we worked out a time - he personally promised to set that time aside for me. I showed up, he confirmed it was the right screen, we went through some tests - it was glitchy - then he rebooted and it seems to have unglitched. As I now touch my screen to confirm, Device Surgeon got it done. They fought the mail, they put the customer first, and navigated a tricky situation successfully. The end price was more than we'd first agreed upon, but he was flexible about it and we ended up meeting in the middle. I'm so happy that I was able to work with an independent business over a large corporation or company and with someone who treated me like a person instead of a business opportunity. I'd highly recommend Darryl!
