First place I went to when I moved to Michigan. Thankfully it was a nice day and I was able to dine outside. Service was on point as our server always made sure we were good on refreshments and condiments when we got our food. I ordered the Spinach Artichoke Dip for an app and it may had been one of the best ones I had ever had. I then also ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger which if I recall had bbq sauce on it? A hidden gem in downtown Elk Rapids, MI! Just discovered by chance, feeling like the luckiest foodie in all of Northern Michigan today! A combination of elite party store, deli, restaurant and bar, with both indoor and outdoor seating, what is not to love? Local treats as well as soon me of the best goodies from afar. Local brews to go or on tap, as well as wine and cocktails. The Cuban Tart is an amazing sandwich/pastry that knocked our socks off! The deck is perfect for summer and fall days. Wonderful books for those who love to cook, entertain and garden. While this is not a huge place, what they carry has been selected carefully, with an emphasis on quality, taste and/or beautiful design. Perfect place to find gifts for your best friends and then eat something delicious and drink something excellent as well. Will be back soon, like tomorrow! The Black & Blue Burger was good and so was the banana cake. The strawberry shortcake was excellent! It's more like 3.5 stars, really. We also ordered Mac & Cheese, a BLT, hot wings and some side veggies. I would not recommend any of those items. Also, with a carry out I would have really appreciated if they had offered condiments such as ketchup for the fries. I was given plastic ware though, upon request. read more

I find it perplexing, a place that has clearly put so much effort into design does not have service or food to match. The cheese selection is better at the local grocery store, nothing of note to match with the wine selection. Their prepared foods are again, something you would find in a grocery chain deli counter. The service is a one star at best. One member of our party never got their sandwich, despite us following up multiple times. until he was out the door. The cook flat out said "I forgot". During my recent visit, I had a few IPAs with a friend of mine while the wife and her friends shared a couple of bottles of wine. Everything was great on the drinks front, and the bartender/server was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. After having a drink or two, most of the group I was with decided to grab a sandwich. I had the Pastrami, which was on the smaller side but extremely tasty. My wife had the Muffuletta, which I actually would have preferred. Her's was much heavier and bigger, and the sandwich had a generous portion of meats along with a delicious mayonnaise-type spread and homemade giardiniera. Long story short, taking into consideration this is located in a quiet little town in the quiet northern Michigan area, it's a great find and a great place to have a drink or grab lunch. read more

I've worked at many restaurants and have never heard of this in my life. Was genuinely excited to try this place but was easily turned off at how rude the employee was at the front. My husband I went in for lunch on a Sat, and we were greeted immediately by what I assume was the owner/manager. We ordered hummus, beef tip hash, and a chef salad. All very good! The waitress was very attentive and even the owner/manager checked in on us at the end of our meal. What a nice experience and good food. We will def be back:) read more

A Northern Michigan new breed classic! Found this place by accident. Walking downtown with my wife and kids and ducked in to use the bathroom. I was surprised to see a terrific deck with full bar service and what appeared to be good food. I ditched the wife and kids (let them shop in beautiful downtown Elk Rapids) and hung out for a solid hour enjoying the classic northern Michigan ambiance, quality drinks and a fantastic appetizer. The service was solid and the tap line top notch. This is now a must stop whenever we bring the boat to Elk Rapids. Wife and kids came back with some friends and we had a fantastic meal with 8 of us. This place is a hidden gem! We stopped in for a bottle of wine and ended up getting food to go because it looked so delish! We ended up meeting the chef, Jordan, and his fiancé Elle and they were both amazing! We brought home bolognese lasagna, lamb pasty, and smoked salmon chowder and they were all amazing! This has been a fantastic addition to Elk Rapids. I love having a place to stop in for sandwiches or to pick up picnic snacks. First time we stopped here, they were not very friendly. Rude and short. You are treated Almost as if they are over the summer tourists and therefore have no time for locals either. While we went there many times in between, because of the convenience and food items- their customer service seems to be lacking. On more than one occasion, I was second in line at the deli and the person waiting on customer in front of us, would then leave to ring them up, saying they would be right back and then proceed to ring up the next several people who would walk up in the checkout line as we were waiting to order still at the deli. On another occasion, I informed someone that the carrots we purchased the previous time were spoiled and we had ordered these at least half a dozen times In between and knew what they should taste like as they were a favorite. She told me she didn't have the authority to do anything about it and I would have to come back When a manager was working. She then took a big bag and put 2 glass bottles and 2 soups in it and when I picked it up, they immediately fell over. I asked for a smaller bag so they wouldn't spill and she was so frustrated about that. As many times as we had been in there and as many things as we have purchased. Then On my way out, I saw a Picture I wanted and had her ring that up Also and got the silent treatment for the rest of the purchase . I guess I put them out by spending money there. Good soups, good mini sandwiches, good crab cakes and atmosphere and other items- pricey, but you don't mind if you are at least treated well, customer service- ONE star on more than one occasion!! This place needs to figure out exactly how to make it as a restaurant. When we entered the place we were told that the only seating was high top ( very uncomfortable looking) seats in the bar. We were told that the tables were all full and that we could only eat at the bar. We asked if we could put our name on a waiting list and we're told no. When we inquired as to whether we could have a drink and wait for a table at the bar we were told that that would confuse the waitresses. When we said we'd come back in a half an hour- the hostess went to the cook ( huh?) and asked him if we could do so and he said that they were too busy to do that. So, we walked out. We left totally confused about these bizarre restaurant behaviors. This place has Totally the worst business ideas EVER. We stood outside looking for our dinner spot ( cuz it sure wasn't that place!) and watched in utter disbelief as they turned away a group or four and then another couple and yet another group of four. What?! Turning away business after several years of a pandemic?! Unheard of! Look, traverse city is a resort spot where people like to GO OUT to eat and this place needs to figure that out. What a great addition to Elk Rapids! In addition to wine, they have really good prepared foods and interesting snacks, desserts, and drinks. I love this place! My husband and I stopped in over Christmas while vacationing in Traverse City. We taste tested some delicious food items there and took home lobster Mac and cheese. We also bought several desserts and a flower planter (one of the many adorable home and garden decor items they have for sale throughout the store). My husband loved there tiny pastrami sandwich he found in the cold goods section and I devoured my Nutella cake! Yum! Such a charming place with beautiful decor and the most helpful staff! I can't wait to come back here In the summer! We love Elk Rapids and its charming shops such as Cellar 152. Keep up the good work! read more
